| 1 | Effect of phosphogypsum and dicyandiamide as additives on NH_3,N_2O and CH_4 emissions during composting显示文摘A laboratory scale experiment of composting in a forced aeration system using pig manure with cornstalks was carried out to investigate the effects of both phosphogypsum and dicyandiamide (DCD, C2 H4 N4 ) as additives on gaseous emissions and compost quality. Besides a control, there were three amended treatments with different amounts of additives. The results indicated that the phosphogypsum addition at the rate of 10% of mixture dry weight decreased NH3 and CH4 emissions significantly during composting. The addition of DCD at the rate of 0.2% of mixture dry weight together with 10% of phosphogypsum further reduced the N20 emission by affecting the nitrification process. Reducing the phosphogypsum addition to 5% in the presence of 0.2% DCD moderately increased the NH3 emissions but not N20 emission. The additives increased the ammonium content and electrical conductivity significantly in the final compost. No adverse effect on organic matter degradation or the germination index of the compost was found in the amended treatments. | 2 | Advances in studying interactions between aerosols and monsoon in China显示文摘Scientific issues relevant to interactions between aerosols and the Asian monsoon climate were discussed and evaluated at the 33 rd 'Forum of Science and Technology Frontiers' sponsored by the Department of Earth Sciences at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Major results are summarized in this paper. The East Asian monsoon directly affects aerosol transport and provides a favorable background circulation for the occurrence and development of persistent fog-haze weather. Spatial features of aerosol transport and distribution are also influenced by the East Asian monsoon on seasonal, inter-annual, and decadal scales. High moisture levels in monsoon regions also affect aerosol optical and radiative properties. Observation analyses indicate that cloud physical properties and precipitation are significantly affected by aerosols in China with aerosols likely suppressing local light and moderate rainfall, and intensifying heavy rainfall in southeast coastal regions. However, the detailed mechanisms behind this pattern still need further exploration. The decadal variation in the East Asian monsoon strongly affects aerosol concentrations and their spatial patterns. The weakening monsoon circulation in recent decades has likely helped to increase regional aerosol concentrations. The substantial increase in Chinese air pollutants has likely decreased the temperature difference between land and sea, which favors intensification of the weakening monsoon circulation. | 4 | Genome-wide analysis and molecular dissection of the SPL gene family in Salvia miltiorrhiza显示文摘SQUAMOSA promoter binding protein-likes(SPLs) are plant-specific transcription factors playing vital regulatory roles in plant growth and development. There is no information about SPLs in Salvia miltiorrhiza(Danshen), a significant medicinal plant widely used in Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) for >1,700 years and an emerging model plant for TCM studies. Through genome-wide identification and subsequent molecular cloning, we identified a total 15 SmSPLs with divergent sequence features, gene structures, and motifs. Comparative analysis showed sequence conservation between SmSPLs and their Arabidopsis counterparts. A phylogenetic tree clusters SmSPLs into six groups. Many of the motifs identified commonly exist in a group/subgroup, implying their functional redundancy. Eight SmSPLs were predicted and experimentally validated to be targets of miR156/157. SmSPLs were differentially expressed in various tissues of S. milltiorrhiza. The expression of miR156/157-targeted SmSPLs was increased withthe maturation of S. miltiorrhiza, whereas the expression of miR156/157 was decreased, confirming the regulatory roles of miR156/157 in SmSPLs and suggesting the functions of SmSPLs in S. miltiorrhiza development. The expression of miR156/157 was negatively correlated with miR172 during the maturation of S. miltiorrhiza. | 5 | Response of water budget to recent climatic changes in the source region of the Yellow River显示文摘Discharge in the source region of the Yellow River significantly declined after 1990.China Meteorological Administration(CMA) data show that precipitation in this region was low in the 1990s but returned to above normal after 2002;in recent decades there has been rapid warming of surface air,moistening and wind speed decrease.To investigate the influences of recent climatic changes on the water budget,this study simulates the surface water budget at CMA stations within and surrounding the source region during 1960-2006,using an improved land surface model.Results indicate that the spatial pattern of precipitation change is an important factor(except for precipitation amount and intensity) in determining the response of runoff to precipitation changes.Low runoff in the 1990s was consistent with precipitation amount and intensity.The recovery of precipitation after 2002 is mainly from increased precipitation in the dry area of the source region.Evaporation was mainly limited by water availability in this dry area,and thus most of the precipitation increase was evaporated.By contrast,energy availability was a more important influence on evaporation in the wet area.There was more evaporation in the wet area because of rapid warming,although precipitation amount partly decreased and partly increased,contributing to the reduction of runoff after 2002.This control on evaporation and its response,together with the modified spatial pattern of precipitation,produced a water budget unfavorable for runoff generation in the source region during recent years. | ZHOU DeGang HUANG RongHui | 2012 | Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,17: | 12 |
| 6 | The Interaction of Population,Industry and Land in Process of Urbanization in China:A Case Study in Jilin Province显示文摘Urbanization is a complex process that covers a wide range of topics, of which population, industry and land urbanization are three important aspects. Jilin Province is an important agricultural province in China. The contradiction between population, industry and land urbanization is especially prominent here, and its coupling development is of great practical significance. In this paper, the coupling degree of population-industry-land urbanization in Jilin Province in 1990, 2000 and 2010 is measured by coupling mode. The spatial pattern of the coupling degree is analyzed by trend surface analysis and global and local spatial autocorrelation. The influence factors and their spatial differentiation are discussed using multiple linear regression(MLR) model and geographic weighted regression(GWR) model. The results show that: 1) the coupling degree of population-industry-land urbanization in Jilin Province is at a low level. Judging from the change of time scale, the urbanization of most research units is becoming more and more coordinated. From the comparison of spatial scales, there is significant spatial difference in the research units of different administrative levels. 2) Judging from the global change trend, the coupling degree of population-industry-land urbanization in the central region is higher than that in western and eastern regions. The coordination of urbanization in the central region is relatively good, and the distribution of the cold and hot spots is basically the same as that overall. 3) The spatial pattern of the coupling degree is related to the cold and hot spot distribution of the influence coefficient of urban population density and per capita urban construction land. The variation of the coupling degree spatial pattern is synchronous with the spatial change of the urban population density influence coefficient. 4) The degree of agglomeration of the urban population is the main factor promoting the coupling pattern of population-industry-land urbanization in Jilin Province, and the extent of its influence is gradually increasing. | 7 | Optically pumped terahertz sources显示文摘High-power terahertz(THz) generation in the frequency range of 0.1-10 THz has been a fast-developing research area ever since the beginning of the THz boom two decades ago, enabling new technological breakthroughs in spectroscopy, communication, imaging,etc. By using optical(laser) pumping methods with near-or mid-infrared(IR) lasers, flexible and practical THz sources covering the whole THz range can be realized to overcome the shortage of electronic THz sources and now they are playing important roles in THz science and technology. This paper overviews various optically pumped THz sources, including femtosecond laser based ultrafast broadband THz generation, monochromatic widely tunable THz generation, single-mode on-chip THz source from photomixing, and the traditional powerful THz gas lasers. Full descriptions from basic principles to the latest progress are presented and their advantages and disadvantages are discussed as well. | 8 | Characterization of turbulent flux transfer over a Gobi surface with quality-controlled observations显示文摘This study evaluates the spatial distributions in the quality of momentum and sensible heat fluxes,and determines the turbulent transfer characteristics with quality-controlled observations.The research is based on raw turbulence data collected over a Gobi surface in the Dunhuang area in June 2004.The results indicate that part of the momentum fluxes are of poor quality in the daytime and nighttime.The poor quality of the momentum fluxes in the daytime is mainly attributed to the development of turbulence.The footprint reveals that,in general,the momentum fluxes and sensible heat fluxes can be measured well in the east and west upwind sectors under unstable conditions.The relationship between the non-dimensional standard deviation of the wind components and atmospheric stability follow the '1/3 power law',which supports the Monin-Obukhov similarity theory.Moreover,this study identifies a clear disturbance in the measurements surrounding the Gobi surface.The momentum roughness length of z0m=0.59 mm is determined after excluding such disturbance,and the additional resistance during the daytime is proposed to be an average of 3.1,although its actual value is highly scattered.This study discusses the applicability of several thermodynamic parameterization schemes for the Gobi surface.The results show that the scheme κB-1=3.1 can represent well the summer diurnal turbulent heat transfer. | ZHOU DeGang HUANG RongHui | 2011 | Science China Earth Sciences2011,54,5: | 9 |
| 9 | Evolution Stages of Oasis Economy and Its Dependence on Natural Resources in Tarim River Basin显示文摘This paper examines spatio-temporal characteristics of an oasis economy and its relationship with water and mineral resources in the Tarim River Basin from 1965 to 2005. A spatial autocorrelation model, the center of gravity model, and index system of the regional central city are used to probe the evolution laws of spatial structure of oasis economy. The study finds that: 1) The economic centre of gravity, whose variation track during this period follows linear rate law, was moving from headstream to middle reaches of the Tarim River. 2) Positive spatial autocorrelation which showed a waving and ascending trend of regional economy was significant and the neighbor effect of regional economic growth was strengthened continuously. 3) The regional economic centre was located in Hotan City before 1980, moved to Aksu City during the 1980s and to Korla City after 1990. We conclude that above all, during the recent four decades the evolution of the oasis economy in this region has gone through three stages: a traditional agriculture stage (before 1980), oasis agriculture and agricultural product processing stage (1980–1990) and oasis energy industry stage (after 1990). | 10 | Photocatalytic degradation of trace-level of Microcystin-LR by nano-film of titanium dioxide显示文摘Microcystins, a group of hepatotoxin produced by cyanobacteria in eutrophic freshwater, have proven unreliable to be removed by conven-tional treatments. In this study, the photocatalytic degradation experiments of Microcystin-LR were conducted using nano-TiO2 thin film, prepared by sol- gel and dip-coating method, with low UVA intensity irradiation. Analysis results from SPE (solid-phase extraction) combined with HPLC method showed that Microcystin-LR whose initial concentration (μg/L) around that occurs naturally was easily to be re-moved by photocatalytic system. The degradation efficiency of toxin was influenced by the pH condi-tions, initial concentration and UV intensity. The maximum initial rate of photocatalytic degradation occurred at pH 4 and over 95% of 20 μg/L Micro-cystin-LR was decomposed within 120 min under 400μW/cm2 UV illumination. The kinetic equations and parameters revealed that degradation reaction of trace level MC-LR, which was depicted by Langmuir- Hinshelwood kinetics model, was in accordance with pseudo first order kinetics process in appearance well. Under the condition of pH=6.7, irradiation inten-sity=400 μW/cm2 and initial concentration=20 μg/L, the corresponding pseudo-first-order rate constant k and half-life were determined to be 0.0157 min?1 and 44 min, respectively. | 14 | The relationship between energy consumption and economic growth and the development strategy of a low-carbon economy in Kazakhstan显示文摘Fossil energy is the material basis of human survival, economic development and social progress. The relationship between energy consumption and economic growth is becoming increasingly close. However, energy consumption is the major source of greenhouse gases, which can significantly affect the balance of the global ecosystem. It has become the common goal of countries worldwide to address climate change, reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and implement sustainable development strategies. In this study, we applied an approximate relationship analysis, a decoupling relationship analysis, and a trend analysis to explore the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth using data from Kazakhstan for the period of 1993–2010. The results demonstrated:(1) the total energy consumption and GDP in Kazakhstan showed a 'U'-type curve from 1993 to 2010. This curve was observed because 1993–1999 was a period during which Kazakhstan transitioned from a republic to an independent country and experienced a difficult transition from a planned to a market economy. Then, the economic system became more stable and the industrial production increased rapidly because of the effective financial, monetary and industrial policy support from 2000 to 2010.(2) The relationships between energy consumption and carbon emissions, economic growth and energy exports were linked; the carbon emissions were mainly derived from energy consumption, and the dependence of economic growth on energy exports gradually increased from 1993 to 2010. Before 2000, the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth was in a recessional decoupling state because of the economic recession. After 2000, this relationship was in strong and weak decoupling states because the international crude oil prices rose and energy exports increased greatly year by year.(3) It is forecasted that Kazakhstan cannot achieve its goal of energy consumption by 2020. Therefore, a low-carbon economy is the best strategic choice to address climate change from a global perspective in Kazakhstan. | 16 | Analysis of the growth of GaN epitaxy on silicon显示文摘Due to the great potential of Ga N based devices, the analysis of the growth of crack-free Ga N with high quality has always been a research hotspot. In this paper, two methods for improving the property of the Ga N epitaxial layer on Si(111) substrate are researched. Sample A, as a reference, only has an Al N buffer between the Si substrate and the epitaxy. In the following two samples, a Ga N transition layer(sample B) and an Al Ga N buffer(sample C) are grown on the Al N buffer separately. Both methods improve the quality of Ga N. Meanwhile, using the second method, the residual tensile thermal stress decreases. To further study the impact of the two introduced layers, we investigate the stress condition of Ga N epitaxial layer by Raman spectrum. According to the Raman spectrum, the calculated residual stress in the Ga N epitaxial layer is approximately 0.72 GPa for sample B and0.42 GPa for sample C. This study presumed that melatonin could relieve spinal cord edema and examined how it might act. Our experiments found that melatonin(100 mg/kg, i.p.) could reduce the water content of the spinal cord, and suppress the expression of aquaporin-4 and glial fibrillary acidic protein after spinal cord injury. | 19 | A multi-institutional retrospective study of hyperthermic plus intravesical chemotherapy versus intravesical chemotherapy treatment alone in intermediate and high risk nonmuscle-invasive bladder cancer显示文摘Objective:To compare the efficacy and safety of hyperthermic intravesical chemotherapy(HIVEC)and intravesical chemotherapy(IVEC)in patients with intermediate and high risk nonmuscle-invasive bladder cancer(NMIBC)after transurethral resection.Methods:We included 560 patients diagnosed with primary or recurrent NMIBC between April 2009 and December 2015 at 1 of 6 tertiary centers.We matched 364 intermediate or high risk cases and divided them into 2 groups:the HIVEC+IVEC group[chemohyperthermia(CHT)composed of 3 consecutive sessions followed by intravesical instillation without hyperthermia]and the IVEC group(intravesical instillation without hyperthermia).The data were recorded in the database.The primary endpoint was 2-year recurrence-free survival(RFS)in all NMIBC patients(n=364),whereas the secondary endpoints were the assessment of radical cystectomy(RC)and 5-year overall survival(OS).Results:There was a significant difference in the 2-year RFS between the two groups in all patients(n=364;HIVEC+IVEC:82.42%vs.IVEC:74.18%,P=0.038).Compared with the IVEC group,the HIVEC+IVEC group had a lower incidence of RC(P=0.0274).However,the 5-year OS was the same between the 2 groups(P=0.1434).Adverse events(AEs)occurred in 32.7%of all patients,but none of the events was serious(grades 3–4).No difference in the incidence or severity of AEs between each treatment modality was observed.Conclusions:This retrospective study showed that HIVEC+IVEC had a higher 2-year RFS and a lower incidence of RC than IVEC therapy in intermediate and high risk NMIBC patients.Both treatments were well-tolerated in a similar manner. | Qiang Ruan Degang Ding Bin Wang Chaohong He Xuequn Ren Zhenhua Feng Zhigang Pang Jin Wang Xiangliang Zhang Hongsheng Tang Jiahong Wang Qingjun He Ziying Lei Quanxing Liao Jiali Luo Shuzhong Cui | 2021 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2021,18,1: | 4 |
| 20 | Synthesis and enhanced visible-light responsive of C,N,S-tridoped TiO_2 hollow spheres显示文摘C,N,S-tridoped TiO2hollow spheres(labeled as C,N,S-THs) were synthesized using carbon spheres as template and C,N,S-tridoped TiO2nanoparticles as building blocks. The structure and physicochemical properties of the catalysts were characterized by Xray difraction(XRD), scanning electron microscopy(SEM), UV-Vis difuse reflectance spectrum(DRS), N2adsorption-desorption isotherms, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) and Photoluminescence emission spectroscopy(PL). The results showed that the hollow spheres had average diameter of about 200 nm and the shell thickness was about 20 nm. The tridoped TiO2hollow spheres exhibited strong absorption in the visible-light region. C,N,S-tridoped could narrow the band gap of the THs by mixing the orbit O 2p with C 2p, N 2p and S 3p orbits and shift its optical response from ultraviolet(UV) to the visible-light region. PL analysis indicated that the electron-hole recombination rate of TiO2hollow spheres had been efectively inhibited when doped with C, N and S elements.The photocatalytic activities of the samples were evaluated for the degradation of X-3B(Reactive Brilliant Red dye, C.I. Reactive Red2) aqueous solution under visible-light(λ > 420 nm) irradiation.
