2Control of aliphatic halogenated DBP precursors with multiple drinking water treatment processes: Formation potential and integrated toxicity显示文摘The comprehensive control efficiency for the formation potentials(FPs) of a range of regulated and unregulated halogenated disinfection by-products(DBPs)(including carbonaceous DBPs(C-DBPs), nitrogenous DBPs(N-DBPs), and iodinated DBPs(I-DBPs)) with the multiple drinking water treatment processes, including pre-ozonation, conventional treatment(coagulation–sedimentation, pre-sand filtration), ozone-biological activated carbon(O_3-BAC) advanced treatment, and post-sand filtration, was investigated. The potential toxic risks of DBPs by combing their FPs and toxicity values were also evaluated.The results showed that the multiple drinking water treatment processes had superior performance in removing organic/inorganic precursors and reducing the formation of a range of halogenated DBPs. Therein, ozonation significantly removed bromide and iodide,and thus reduced the formation of brominated and iodinated DBPs. The removal of organic carbon and nitrogen precursors by the conventional treatment processes was substantially improved by O_3-BAC advanced treatment, and thus prevented the formation of chlorinated C-DBPs and N-DBPs. However, BAC filtration leads to the increased formation of brominated C-DBPs and N-DBPs due to the increase of bromide/DOC and bromide/DON.After the whole multiple treatment processes, the rank order for integrated toxic risk values caused by these halogenated DBPs was haloacetonitriles(HANs)》haloacetamides(HAMs) >haloacetic acids(HAAs) > trihalomethanes(THMs) > halonitromethanes(HNMs) 》I-DBPs(I-HAMs and I-THMs). I-DBPs failed to cause high integrated toxic risk because of their very low FPs. 3Behavior toxicity to Caenorhabditis elegans transferred to the progeny after exposure to sulfamethoxazole at environmentally relevant concentrations显示文摘Sulfamethoxazole (SMX) is one of the most common detected antibiotics in the environment.In order to study whether SMX can affect behavior and growth and whether these effects could be transferred to the progeny,Caenorhabditis elegans was exposed at environmentally relevant concentrations for 24,48,72 and 96 hr,respectively.After exposure,the exposed parent generation (P0) was measured for behavior and growth indicators,which were presented as percentage of controls (POC).Then their corresponding unexposed progeny (F1) was separated and measured for the same indicators.The lowest POC for P 0 after 96 hr-exposure at 100 mg/L were 37.8%,12.7%,45.8% and 70.1% for body bending frequency (BBF),reversal movement (RM),Omega turns (OT) and body length (BL),respectively.And F1 suffered defects with the lowest POC as 55.8%,24.1%,48.5% and 60.7% for BBF,RM,OT and BL,respectively.Defects in both P0 and F1 showed a time-and concentration-dependent fashion and behavior indicators showed better sensitivity than growth indicator.The observed effects on F1 demonstrated the transferable properties of SMX.Defects of SMX at environmental concentrations suggested that it is necessary to perform further systematical studies on its ecological risk in actual conditions.Zhenyang Yu 2011Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,2:12
4Contamination by persistent toxic substances in surface sediment of urban rivers in Chaohu City, China显示文摘The concentration and spatial distribution of persistent toxic substances (PTS) in the river sediment in Chaohu City, China were investigated. A total of nine surface sediments were collected and the selected PTS pollutants including six heavy metals and nineteen polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) were analyzed. The mean heavy metal concentrations (in mg/kg, dry weight) ranged within 0.18-1.53 (Hg), 50.08-200.18 (Cu), 118.70-313.65 (Zn), 50.77-310.85 (Cr), 37.12-92.72 (Pb) and 13.29-197.24 (As), and Cu, Zn and As have been regarded as the main metal pollutants. The levels of PBDEs (1.2-12.1 ng/g) and BDE-209 (2.4-30.5 ng/g) were at the middle level of the global range. BDE-209 was the predominant congener (67.0%-85.7%), which agrees with the fact that technical deca-BDE mixtures are the dominant PBDE formulation in China. The relative high level of PTS pollutants in the western part of the city is probably owing to the intensive agricultural activities and lack of sewerage system there. The ecological risk assessment with the sediment quality guidelines (SOGs) indicates that the urban river sediments in the city have been heavily contaminated by heavy metals with probable ecotoxicological impacts on freshwater organisms and the main toxic pollutants are Hg and As. 5Effect of electric pulse treatment on solidification structure of an Al-15%Si alloy显示文摘The effect of electric pulse modifying on the solidification structure of an Al-15%Si alloy was investigated. Theresult shows that the primary silicon disappears sometimes and the eutectic phase is refined after the treatment of EP (elec-tric pulse) though there are different modalities in different treating durations. 6Microstructure and properties of high emissivity coatings显示文摘A new coating on lining in industrial furnace for energy saving has been developed. Properties and microstructure of the coatings were revealed by emissivity instrument,X-ray diffraction (XRD),transmission electron microscope (TEM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM),respectively. The result indicates that the emissivity of coatings is higher than 0.90 and the thickness of coatings is about 200 μm. ZrO2,Cr2O3 and SiC in the coating benefit practical applications of coatings at high temperature with du-rable high emissivity and the continuous structure between the coatings and the substrate makes the coatings high cohesion and ex-cellent adhesion for both specimens with and without sintering at high temperature. Result from laboratory experiment shows that the heating speed of specimen with coating is higher than that of controlled specimen and the temperature increases 30°C during the heating. The average temperature drop of specimen with coatings has a 13.5% improvement in the cooling speed. 7Casting structure of pure aluminum by electric pulse modification at different superheated temperatures显示文摘Electric pulse modification (EPM) is a novel technique that reduces grain size by altering the structure of a melt. It was investigated that the response of the casting structure of high pure aluminum to EPM in different superheated melts. The results indi- cate that the grain refining effect of a given pulse electric field holds an optimal temperature range, moreover, a lower or higher su- perheated temperature will both disadvantage the improvements of casting structure. 10Bimetallic Nickel Cobalt Sulfide as E cient Electrocatalyst for Zn–Air Battery and Water Splitting显示文摘The development of e cient earth-abundant electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction, oxygen evolution, and hydrogen evolution reactions(ORR, OER, and HER) is important for future energy conversion and energy storage devices, for which both rechargeable Zn–air batteries and water splitting have raised great expectations. Herein, we report a single-phase bimetallic nickel cobalt sulfide((Ni,Co)S_2) as an e cient electrocatalyst for both OER and ORR. Owing to the synergistic combination of Ni and Co, the(Ni,Co)S_2 exhibits superior electrocatalytic performance for ORR, OER, and HER in an alkaline electrolyte, and the first principle calculation results indicate that the reaction of an adsorbed O atom with a H_2O molecule to form a *OOH is the potential limiting step in the OER. Importantly, it could be utilized as an advanced air electrode material in Zn–air batteries, which shows an enhanced charge–discharge performance(charging voltage of 1.71 V and discharge voltage of 1.26 V at 2 mA cm^(-2)), large specific capacity(842 mAh g_(Zn)^(-1) at 5 mA cm^(-2)), and excellent cycling stability(480 h). Interestingly, the(Ni,Co)S_2-based Zn–air battery can e ciently power an electrochemical water-splitting unit with(Ni,Co)S_2 serving as both the electrodes. 11Carbamylated erythropoietin regulates immune responses and promotes long-term kidney allograft survival through activation of PI3K/AKT signaling显示文摘Modulation of alloimmune responses is critical to improving transplant outcome and promoting long-term graft survival.To determine mechanisms by which a nonhematopoietic erythropoietin(EPO)derivative,carbamylated EPO(CEPO),regulates innate and adaptive immune cells and affects renal allograft survival,we utilized a rat model of fully MHC-mismatched kidney transplantation.CEPO administration markedly extended the survival time of kidney allografts compared with the transplant alone control group.This therapeutic effect was inhibited when the recipients were given LY294002,a selective inhibitor of the phosphoinositide 3-kinase(PI3K)/protein kinase B(AKT)signaling pathway or anti-EPO receptor(EPOR)antibody,in addition to CEPO.In vitro,CEPO inhibited the differentiation and function of dendritic cells and modulated their production of proinflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines,along with activating the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway and increasing EPOR mRNA and protein expression by these innate immune cells.Moreover,after CD4^(+)T cells were exposed to CEPO the Th1/Th2 ratio decreased and the regulatory T cell(Treg)/Th17 ratio increased.These effects were abolished by LY294002 or anti-EPOR antibody,suggesting that CEPO regulates immune responses and promotes kidney allograft survival by activating the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway in an EPOR-dependent manner.The immunomodulatory and specific signaling pathway effects of CEPO identified in this study suggest a potential therapeutic approach to promoting kidney transplant survival.Ning Na Daqiang Zhao Jinhua Zhang Jiaqing Wu Bin Miao Heng Li Yingxun Luo Zuofu Tang Wensheng Zhang Joseph A.Bellanti Song Guo Zheng 2020Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1:4
12Antimicrobial effect of sodium houttuyfonate on Staphylococcus epidermidis and Candida albicans biofilms显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To study antimicrobial effect of Sodium houttuyfonate(SH) on Staphylococcus epidermidis(SE) and Candida albicans(CA). METHODS: The prepared strain broths(OD600 =0.05) containing SE and CA were firstly used to test the minimal inhibitory concentrations(MICs) of SH, azithromycin(AZM) and fluconazole(FLU) by micro-dilution method. Then the biofilms of SE and CA were matured in 96-well plates, and co-cultured with SH, AZM and FLU for 1, 2 and 3 days to assess the antibiofilm efficacies of the agents with different concentrations by crystal violet staining method. At last, the treated biofilms of SE and CA by 2× MIC agents were observed by scanning electronic microscope. RESULTS: The MICs of SE and CA were 256 and 1024 μg/mL, respectively. After the 1st, 2nd and 3rd day of medications, the suppressions of biofilm were about 60%(P<0.01), 76%(P=0.000) and 75%(P=0.000) by 2×MIC SH, the suppressions of biofilm were about 90%(P=0.000), 88%(P=0.000) and 90%(P=0.000) by 2×MIC SH, which could be testified by scanning electron microscope results. However, the inhibitions of biofilm attachment had no significant difference for SE by SH and azithromycin and CA by SH and fluconazole. 13Transition-metal-doped NiSe2 nanosheets towards efficient hydrogen evolution reactions显示文摘Transition metal diselenides are promising electrocatalysts for hydrogenevolution and therefore different approaches have been proposed to enhancetheir catalytic activity. Herein, we describe systematic studies of the dependenceof transition-metal doping on the catalytic activity of NiSe2 by first principlescalculations, where Fe is demonstrated to be the best candidate element to tunethe electrocatalytic activity of NiSe2 with lower AGH. values and increasedelectrical conductivity. To provide further experimental evidence, Fe-dopedNiSe2 porous nanosheets grown on carbon cloth are successfully developed.These nanosheets show significantly improved efficiency for hydrogen evolutionreactions compared to their un-doped counterpart. The optimized Ni0.sFe0.2Se2electrocatalyst gives rise to a current density of 10 mA.cm-2 at a very lowoverpotential of 64 mV with outstanding long-term stability. 14Bifunctional Oxygen Electrocatalyst of Mesoporous Ni/NiO Nanosheets for Flexible Rechargeable Zn–Air Batteries显示文摘One approach to accelerate the stagnant kinetics of both the oxygen reduction and evolution reactions(ORR/OER)is to develop a rationally designed multiphase nanocomposite,where the functions arising from each of the constituent phases,their interfaces,and the overall structure are properly controlled.Herein,we successfully synthesized an oxygen electrocatalyst consisting of Ni nanoparticles purposely interpenetrated into mesoporous NiO nanosheets(porous Ni/NiO).Benefiting from the contributions of the Ni and NiO phases,the well-established pore channels for charge transport at the interface between the phases,and the enhanced conductivity due to oxygen-deficiency at the pore edges,the porous Ni/NiO nanosheets show a potential of 1.49 V(10 mA cm^-2)for the OER and a half-wave potential of 0.76 V for the ORR,outperforming their noble metal counterparts.More significantly,a Zn-air battery employing the porous Ni/NiO nanosheets exhibits an initial charging-discharging voltage gap of 0.83 V(2 mA cm^-2),specific capacity of 853 mAh gZn^-1 at 20 mA cm^-2,and long-time cycling stability(120 h).In addition,the porous Ni/NiO-based solid-like Zn-air battery shows excellent electrochemical performance and flexibility,illustrating its great potential as a next-generation rechargeable power source for flexible electronics.Peitao Liu Jiaqi Ran Baorui Xia Shibo Xi Daqiang Gao John Wang 2020Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,5:4
15EET research on the Al-22%Si alloy under the action of electric pulses显示文摘Based on the empirical electron theory of solids and molecules (EET), the phase valence electron structure parameters of Al-22%Si alloy are calculated, and the sensitivity of the bond network of Al-Si alloy melt to temperature (energy) and the effect of the sensitivity on the morphology are studied. The results show that the Si-Si clusters with larger nA in the slightly superheated Al-Si alloy melt supply the nucleation core to the primary silicon phase in the hypereutectic Al-22%Si alloy, and strongly generate the drag-like effect for the Al-Si clusters around them; that the variation of temperature significantly affects the stability of bonds of the core so that the solidified structure is changed; that the electric pulse applied to the alloy melt can irrecoverably alter the stability of Si-Si clusters, then the modifica- tion of the solidified structure morphology of alloys is generated; that the higher the energy of the electric pulse, the less stable the Si-Si clusters, and the more significant the electric pulse modification.WANG JianZhong HE LiJia LIN Cheng CANG DaQiang 2008Science China(Technological Sciences)2008,51,11:4
16Noninvasive method to drive medical micro-robots显示文摘A noninvasive method to drive medical micro-robots into endocoeles has been proposed and a kind of medical micro robot driven by the method has been designed. The robot has a spirally grooved impeller. When the spirally grooved impeller rotates, a hydrodynamic film between the robot and endocoeles is formed because of mucus existence in endocoeles. The generated axial thrust force of the impeller can drive robots to move. Because the hydrodynamic film is formed when the robot moves in endocoeles, injury may be prevented, so it can alleviate or avoid pain of sufferers. 17Spontaneous caving and gob-side entry retaining of thin seam with large inclined angle显示文摘Based on the research method of combining simulation analysis with field testing by distinct element process UDEC, we have analyzed the roof deformation and failure laws and roadway support technology of gob-side entry retaining in a thin seam with a large inclined angle. The results show that during exploitation in seams with large inclined angle, rotational subsidence of the main roof under the gob area is small and can maintain balance, so there is no need to provide artificial permanent support resistance for the main roof near the upper side to control rotational subsidence. 193D metal-organic frameworks based on lanthanide-seamed dimeric pyrogallol[4]arene nanocapsules显示文摘Two novel 3D metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)with cds network,{[Me NH_3]_7[Ln_8(Pg C_2)_2(H_2O)_y(HCOO)_7]}_n·x(Solvent)(FJI-Y4,FJI=Fujian Institute,Ln=Gd,y=12;FJI-Y5,Ln=Dy,y=11;Pg C_2=C-ethylpyrogallol[4]arene),based on unprecedented dimeric pyrogallol[4]arene-based Ln_8metal-organic nanocapsule(MONC)supramolecular building blocks and formate linkers,have been prepared under solvothermal conditions.To our best of knowledge,they present not only the first two examples of 3D hierarchical structures constructed from MONCs in metal-pyrogallol[4]arene system,but also the first two examples of MOFs based on lanthanide MONCs.Remarkably,the inner cavity volume of the Ln_8capsule in FJI-Y4 and FJI-Y5 is approximately151?~3,which is larger than those found in previous transition metal-seamed dimeric Pg C_n-based MONCs.Magnetic investigation on FJI-Y4 suggests a significant magnetocaloric effect(23.97 J kg^(-1)K^(-1),ΔH=7 T,2.5 K),while FJI-Y5 exhibits slow relaxation of the magnetization.Kongzhao Su Mingyan Wu Wenjing Wang Mi Zhou Daqiang Yuan Maochun Hong 2018Science China Chemistry2018,61,6:2
