| 3 | Assessing the effects of vegetation and precipitation on soil erosion in the Three-River Headwaters Region of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,China显示文摘Soil erosion in the Three-River Headwaters Region(TRHR)of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in China has a significant impact on local economic development and ecological environment.Vegetation and precipitation are considered to be the main factors for the variation in soil erosion.However,it is a big challenge to analyze the impacts of precipitation and vegetation respectively as well as their combined effects on soil erosion from the pixel scale.To assess the influences of vegetation and precipitation on the variation of soil erosion from 2005 to 2015,we employed the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation(RUSLE)model to evaluate soil erosion in the TRHR,and then developed a method using the Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index model(LMDI)which can exponentially decompose the influencing factors,to calculate the contribution values of the vegetation cover factor(C factor)and the rainfall erosivity factor(R factor)to the variation of soil erosion from the pixel scale.In general,soil erosion in the TRHR was alleviated from 2005 to 2015,of which about 54.95%of the area where soil erosion decreased was caused by the combined effects of the C factor and the R factor,and 41.31%was caused by the change in the R factor.There were relatively few areas with increased soil erosion modulus,of which 64.10%of the area where soil erosion increased was caused by the change in the C factor,and 23.88%was caused by the combined effects of the C factor and the R factor.Therefore,the combined effects of the C factor and the R factor were regarded as the main driving force for the decrease of soil erosion,while the C factor was the dominant factor for the increase of soil erosion.The area with decreased soil erosion caused by the C factor(12.10×10^3 km^2)was larger than the area with increased soil erosion caused by the C factor(8.30×10^3 km^2),which indicated that vegetation had a positive effect on soil erosion.This study generally put forward a new method for quantitative assessment of the impacts of the influencing factors on soil erosion,and also provided a scientific basis for the regional control of soil erosion. | HE Qian DAI Xiao'ai CHEN Shiqi | 2020 | Journal of Arid Land2020,12,5: | 9 |
| 4 | Involvement of phosphatase and tensin homolog-induced putative kinase 1–Parkin-mediated mitophagy in septic acute kidney injury显示文摘Background:Studies have reported mitophagy activation in renal tubular epithelial cells(RTECs)in acute kidney injury(AKI).Phosphatase and tensin homolog-induced putative kinase 1(PINK1)and E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase Parkin are involved in mitophagy regulation;however,little is known about the role of PINK1-Parkin mitophagy in septic AKI.Here we investigated whether the PINK1-Parkin mitophagy pathway is involved in septic AKI and its effects on cell apoptosis in vitro and on renal functions in vivo.Methods:Mitophagy-related gene expression was determined using Western blot assay in human RTEC cell line HK-2 stimulated with bacterial lipopolysaccharide(LPS)and in RTECs from septic AKI rats induced by cecal ligation and perforation(CLP).Autophagy-related ultrastructural features in rat RTECs were observed using electron microscopy.Gain-and loss-of-function approaches were performed to investigate the role of the PINK1-Parkin pathway in HK-2 cell mitophagy.Autophagy activators and inhibitors were used to assess the effects of mitophagy modulation on cell apoptosis in vitro and on renal functions in vivo.Results:LPS stimulation could significantly induce LC3-II and BECN-1 protein expression(LC3-II:1.72±0.05 vs.1.00±0.05,P<0.05;BECN-1:5.33±0.57 vs.1.00±0.14,P<0.05)at 4 h in vitro.Similarly,LC3-II,and BECN-1 protein levels were significantly increased and peaked at 2 h after CLP(LC3-II:3.33±0.12 vs.1.03±0.15,P<0.05;BECN-1:1.57±0.26 vs.1.02±0.11,P<0.05)in vivo compared with those after sham operation.Mitochondrial deformation and mitolysosome-mediated mitochondria clearance were observed in RTECs from septic rats.PINK1 knockdown significantly attenuated LC3-II protein expression(1.35±0.21 vs.2.38±0.22,P<0.05),whereas PINK1 overexpression markedly enhanced LC3-II protein expression(2.07±0.21 vs.1.29±0.19,P<0.05)compared with LPS-stimulated HK-2 cells.LPS-induced proapoptotic protein expression remained unchanged in autophagy activator-treated HK-2 cells and was significantly attenuated in PINK1-overexpressing cells,but was remarkably upregulated in autophagy inhibitor-treated and in PINK1-depleted cells.Consistent results were observed in flow cytometric apoptosis assay and in renal function indicators in rats.Conclusion:PINK1-Parkin-mediated mitophagy might play a protective role in septic AKI,serving as a potential therapeutic target for septic AKI. | Xin-Gui Dai Wei Xu Tao Li Jia-Ying Lu Yang Yang Qiong Li Zhen-Hua Zeng Yu-Hang Ai | 2019 | Chinese Medical Journal2019,,19: | 9 |
| 5 | Composite solid electrolyte of Na3PS4-PEO for all-solid-state SnS2/Na batteries with excellent interfacial compatibility between electrolyte and Na metal显示文摘High ionic conductivity and superior interfacial stability of solid electrolytes at the electrodes are crucial factors for high-performance all-solid-state sodium batteries. Herein, a composite solid electrolyte Na3PS4-polyethylene oxide is synthesized by the solution-phase reaction method with an improved ionic conductivity up to 9.4 × 10-5 S/cm at room temperature. Moreover, polyethylene oxide polymer layer is wrapped homogeneously on the surface of Na3PS4 particles, which could effectively avoid the direct contact between Na3PS4 electrolyte and sodium metal, thus alleviate their side reactions. | 6 | 3D Printing Hip Prostheses Offer Accurate Reconstruction,Stable Fixation,and Functional Recovery for Revision Total Hip Arthroplasty with Complex Acetabular Bone Defect显示文摘Complicated and large acetabular bone defects present the main challenges and difficulty in the revision of total hip arthroplasty(THA).This study aimed to explore the advantages of three-dimensional(3D)printing technology in the reconstruction of such acetabular bone defects.We retrospectively analyzed the prognosis of four severe bone defects around the acetabulum in three patients who were treated using 3D printing technology.Reconstruction of bone defect by conventional methods was difficult in these patients.In this endeavor,we used radiographic methods,related computer software such as Materialise's interactive medical image control system and Siemens NX software,and actual surgical experience to estimate defect volume,prosthesis stability,and installation accuracy,respectively.Moreover,a Harris hip score was obtained to evaluate limb function.It was found that bone defects could be adequately reconstructed using a 3D printing prosthesis,and its stability was reliable.The Harris hip score indicated a very good functional recovery in all three patients.In conclusion,3D printing technology had a good therapeutic effect on both complex and large bone defects in the revision of THA.It was able to achieve good curative effects in patients with large bone defects. | Yongqiang Hao Lei Wang Wenbo Jiang Wen Wu Songtao Ai Lu Shen Shuang Zhao Kerong Dai | 2020 | Engineering2020,6,11: | 4 |

| 9 | Infection with severe fever with thrombocytopenia virus in healthy population:a cohort study in a high endemic region,China显示文摘Background: Severe fever with thrombocytopenia (SFTS) caused by SFTS virus (SFTSV) was a tick-borne hemorrhagic fever that posed significant threat to human health in Eastern Asia. The study was designed to measure the seroprevalence of SFTSV antibody in healthy population residing in a high endemic region.Methods: A cohort study was performed on healthy residents in Shangcheng County in Xinyang City from April to December in 2018, where the highest SFTS incidence in China was reported. Anti-SFTSV IgG was measured by indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and neutralizing antibody (NAb) was detected by using PRNT50. The logistic regression models were performed to analyze the variables that were associated with seropositive rates.Results: Totally 886 individuals were recruited. The baseline seroprevalence that was tested before the epidemic season was 11.9% (70/587) for IgG and 6.8% (40/587) for NAb, which was increased to 13.4% (47/350) and 7.7% (27/350) during the epidemic season, and further to 15.8% (80/508) and 9.8% (50/508) post epidemic. The IgG antibody-based seropositivity was significantly related to the patients aged ≥ 70 years old [adjusted odds ratio (OR) = 2.440, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.334-4.461 compared to the group of < 50 years old,P = 0.004], recent contact with cats (adjustedOR = 2.195, 95%CI: 1.261-3.818,P = 0.005), and working in tea garden (adjustedOR = 1.698, 95%CI: 1.002-2.880,P = 0.049) by applying multivariate logistic regression model. The NAb based seropositivity was similarly related to the patients aged ≥ 70 years old (adjustedOR = 2.691, 95%CI: 1.271-5.695 compared to the group of < 50 years old,P = 0.010), and recent contact with cats (OR = 2.648, 95%CI: 1.419-4.941,P = 0.002). For a cohort of individuals continually sampled with 1-year apart, the anti-SFTSV IgG were maintained at a stable level, while the NAb level reduced.Conclusions: Subclinical infection might not provide adequate immunity to protect reinfection of SFTSV, thus highlighting the ongoing threats of SFTS in endemic regions, which called for an imperative need for vaccine development. | 11 | Metal Exposure and Risk of Diabetes and Prediabetes among Chinese Occupational Workers显示文摘Objective To study the association between metal exposure and risk of diabetes and prediabetes among Chinese workers exposed to metals.Methods We used data obtained from the baseline survey of the Jinchang Cohort Study of workers in Jinchang Industry,the largest nickel production company in China.A total of 42,122 workers ≥20 years of age were included in the study.A standardized,structured questionnaire was used to collect epidemiological information.Physical examinations and laboratory tests were conducted to evaluate the health status of the participants and to measure various biomarkers including blood sugar,lipids,and urinary metal concentrations.Logistic regression was used to study the association between occupational groups categorized according to the measured metal levels(office workers,low-level;mining/production workers,mid-level;and smelting/refining workers,high-level)and risk of diabetes and prediabetes.Results The overall prevalence of diabetes and prediabetes was 7.5% and 16.8%,respectively.The adjusted odds ratios for diabetes among mining/production workers and smelting/refining workers compared to office workers were 1.5(95% CI:1.3,1.7)and 3.8(95% CI:3.4,4.3),respectively.No association was observed between these occupational groups and prediabetes in this study.Conclusion Occupations associated with higher levels of metal exposure were associated with an increased risk of diabetes in this cohort.More studies are needed to confirm this observed association. | YANG Ai Min CHENG Ning PU Hong Quan LIU Si Min LI Juan Sheng BASSIG Bryan A.
