Joint Inversion of the 3D P Wave Velocity Structure of the Crust and Upper Mantle under the Southeastern Margin of the Tibetan Plateau Using Regional Earthquake and Teleseismic Data显示文摘The special seismic tectonic environment and frequent seismicity in the southeastern margin of the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau show that this area is an ideal location to study the present tectonic movement and background of strong earthquakes in China's Mainland and to predict future strong earthquake risk zones. Studies of the structural environment and physical characteristics of the deep structure in this area are helpful to explore deep dynamic effects and deformation field characteristics, to strengthen our understanding of the roles of anisotropy and tectonic deformation and to study the deep tectonic background of the seismic origin of the block's interior. In this paper, the three-dimensional(3D) P-wave velocity structure of the crust and upper mantle under the southeastern margin of the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau is obtained via observational data from 224 permanent seismic stations in the regional digital seismic network of Yunnan and Sichuan Provinces and from 356 mobile China seismic arrays in the southern section of the north–south seismic belt using a joint inversion method of the regional earthquake and teleseismic data. The results indicate that the spatial distribution of the P-wave velocity anomalies in the shallow upper crust is closely related to the surface geological structure, terrain and lithology. Baoxing and Kangding, with their basic volcanic rocks and volcanic clastic rocks, present obvious high-velocity anomalies. The Chengdu Basin shows low-velocity anomalies associated with the Quaternary sediments. The Xichang Mesozoic Basin and the Butuo Basin are characterised by lowvelocity anomalies related to very thick sedimentary layers. The upper and middle crust beneath the Chuan–Dian and Songpan–Ganzi Blocks has apparent lateral heterogeneities, including low-velocity zones of different sizes. There is a large range of low-velocity layers in the Songpan–Ganzi Block and the sub–block northwest of Sichuan Province, showing that the middle and lower crust is relatively weak. The Sichuan Basin, which is located in the western margin of the Yangtze platform, shows high-velocity characteristics. The results also reveal that there are continuous low-velocity layer distributions in the middle and lower crust of the Daliangshan Block and that the distribution direction of the low-velocity anomaly is nearly SN, which is consistent with the trend of the Daliangshan fault. The existence of the low-velocity layer in the crust also provides a deep source for the deep dynamic deformation and seismic activity of the Daliangshan Block and its boundary faults. The results of the 3D P-wave velocity structure show that an anomalous distribution of high-density, strong-magnetic and high-wave velocity exists inside the crust in the Panxi region. This is likely related to late Paleozoic mantle plume activity that led to a large number of mafic and ultra-mafic intrusions into the crust. In the crustal doming process, the massive intrusion of mantle-derived material enhanced the mechanical strength of the crustal medium. The P-wave velocity structure also revealed that the upper mantle contains a low-velocity layer at a depth of 80–120 km in the Panxi region. The existence of deep faults in the Panxi region, which provide conditions for transporting mantle thermal material into the crust, is the deep tectonic background forthe area's strong earthquake activity. | LI Dahu LIAO Hua DING Zhifeng ZHAN Yan WU Pingping XU Xiaoming ZHENG Chen | 2018 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2018,92,1: | 12
WIP1 Phosphatase Plays a Critical Neuroprotective Role in Brain Injury Induced by High-Altitude Hypoxic Inflammation显示文摘The hypobaric hypoxic environment in highaltitude areas often aggravates the severity of inflammation and induces brain injury as a consequence. However, the critical genes regulating this process remain largely unknown. The phosphatase wild-type p53-induced phosphatase 1(WIP1) plays important roles in various physiological and pathological processes, including the regulation of inflammation in normoxia, but its functions in hypoxic inflammation-induced brain injury remain unclear. Here, we established a mouse model of this type of injury and found that WIP1 deficiency augmented the release of inflammatory cytokines in the peripheral circulation and brain tissue, increased the numbers of activated microglia/macrophages in the brain, aggravated cerebral histological lesions, and exacerbated the impairment of motor and cognitive abilities. Collectively, these results provide the first in vivo evidence that WIP1 is a critical neuroprotector against hypoxic inflammation-induced brain injury. | Dahu Li Lijun Zhang Xin Huang Lili Liu Yunling He Lun Xu Yiyao Zhang Tong Zhao Liying Wu Yongqi Zhao Kuiwu Wu Yan Wu Ming Fan Lingling Zhu | 2017 | Neuroscience Bulletin2017,33,3: | 9
Upper crustal velocity and seismogenic environment of the M7.0 Jiuzhaigou earthquake region in Sichuan, China显示文摘On August 8,2017,a magnitude 7.0 earthquake occurred in Jiuzhaigou County,Sichuan Province,China. The deep seismogenic environment and potential seismic risk in the eastern margin of Tibetan Plateau have once again attracted the close attention of seismologists and scholars at home and abroad. The post-earthquake scientific investigation could not identify noticeable surface rupture zones in the affected area;the complex tectonic background and the reason(s)for the frequent seismicity in the Jiuzhaigou earthquake region are unclear. In order to reveal the characteristics of the deep medium and the seismogenic environment of the M7.0 Jiuzhaigou earthquake region, and to interpret the tectonic background and genesis of the seismicity comprehensively,in this paper,we have reviewed all available observation data recorded by the regional digital seismic networks and large-scale,dense mobile seismic array(China Array)for the northern section of the North-South Seismic Belt around Jiuzhaigou earthquake region.Using double-difference seismic tomography method to invert the three-dimensional P-wave velocity structure characteristics of the upper crust around the Jiuzhaigou earthquake region,we have analyzed and discussed such scientific questions as the relationship between the velocity structure characteristics and seismicity in the Jiuzhaigou earthquake region, its deep tectonic environment, and the ongoing seismic risk in this region. We report that:the P-wave velocity structure of the upper crust around the Jiuzhaigoug earthquake region exhibits obvious lateral inhomogeneity;the distribution characteristics of the shallow P-wave velocity structure are closely related to surface geological structure and formation lithology;the M7.0 Jiuzhaigou earthquake sequence is closely related to the velocity structure of the upper crust;the mainshock of the M7.0 earthquake occurred in the upper crust;the inhomogeneous variation of the velocity structure of the Jiuzhaigou earthquake area and its surrounding medium appears to be the deep structural factor controlling the spatial distribution of the mainshock and its sequence. The 3D P-wave velocity structure also suggests that the crustal low-velocity layer of northeastern SGB(Songpan-GarzêBlock)stretches into MSM(Minshan Mountain),and migrates to the northeast, but the tendency to emerge as a shallow layer is impeded by the high-velocity zone of Nanping Nappe tectonics and the Bikou Block. Our results reveal an uneven distribution of high-and low-velocity structures around the Tazang segment of the East Kunlun fault zone.Given that the rupture caused by the Jiuzhaigou earthquake has enhanced the stress fields at both ends of the seismogenic fault,it is very important to stay vigilant to possible seismic hazards in the large seismic gap at the Maqu-Maqên segment of the East Kunlun fault zone. | DaHu Li ZhiFeng Ding Yan Zhan PingPing Wu LiJun Chang XiangYu Sun | 2021 | Earth and Planetary Physics2021,5,4: | 4
Deep Seismogenic Environment in the Southern Section of the Longmenshan Fault Zone on the Eastern Margin of the Tibetan Plateau and Lushan M_s 7.0 Earthquake显示文摘The 2,026 earthquake events registered by the Sichuan regional digital seismic network and mobile seismic array after the April 20 th,2013 Lushan earthquake and 28,188 pieces of data were selected to determine direct P waves arrival times. We applied the tomographic method to inverse the characteristics of the velocity structure for the three-dimensional(3D) P wave in the mid-upper crust of the seismic source region of the Lushan earthquake. The imaging results were combined with the apparent magnetization inversion and magnetotelluric(MT) sounding retest data to comprehensively study the causes of the deep seismogenic environment in the southern section of the Longmenshan fault zone and explore the formation of the Lushan earthquake. Research has shown that there are obvious differences in velocity structure and magnetic distribution between the southern and northern sections of the Longmenshan fault zone. The epicenter of the Lushan earthquake is located near the boundary of the high and low-velocity anomalies and favorable for a high-velocity section. Moreover,at the epicenter of the Lushan earthquake located on the magnetic dome boundary of Ya'an,the development of high velocity and magnetic solid medium favors the accumulation and release of strain energy. Lowvelocity anomalies are distributed underneath the are of seismogenic origin,The inversion results of the MT retest data after the April 20 th Lushan earthquake also indicate that there a high-conductor anomaly occurs under the area of seismogenic origin of the Lushan earthquake,Therefore,we speculated that the presence of a high-conductivity anomaly and low-velocity anomaly underneath the seismogenic body of the Lushan earthquake could be related to the existence of fluids. The role of fluids caused the weakening of the seismogenic layer inside the mid-upper crust and resulted in a seismogenic fault that was prone to rupture and played a triggering role in the Lushan earthquake. | LI Dahu DING Zhifeng ZHAN Yan WU Pingping YE Qingdong | 2015 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2015,89,2: | 4

Study of polluted soil remediation based on freezing and thawing cycles显示文摘It is generally known that soil pollution poses a terrible hazard to the environment, but the present techniques of contaminated soil remediation cannot control this growing threat. This paper compares the pollutant extraction efficiency of traditional pumping and treating, which is a typical washing technology for the remediation of contaminated soils, with methods that utilize freeze-thaw cycles. In the soil freezing process, water shifts from unfrozen soils to the freezing front, and the permeability of soil will be enhanced under certain temperature gradients and water conditions. Therefore, this paper discusses the purification of contaminated soil through freeze-thaw action. We conducted a cleansing experiment on clay and silica sand infused with NaCl(simulation of heavy metals) and found that the efficiency of purification was enhanced remarkably in the latter by the freeze-thaw action. To assess the effective extraction of DNAPLs in soil, we conducted an experiment on suction by freezing, predicated on the different freezing points of moisture and pollutants. We found that the permeability coefficient was significantly increased by the freezing-thawing action, enabling the DNAPL contaminants to be extracted selectively and effectively. | DaHu Rui BaiYang Song Yuzuru Ito Li Wang | 2014 | Research in Cold and Arid Regions2014,6,4: | 3
Characterization of a Novel Weak Allele of RGA1/D1 and Its Potential Application in Rice Breeding显示文摘Semi-dwarfing improves the lodging resistance and yield of rice, and the vast majority of modern rice varieties harbor the sd1 allele to decrease plant height, resulting in reduced genetic diversity and negative agronomic traits. Thus, exploring alternative sources of dwarfism is imperative for rice breeding. Here,we identified a novel RGA1 allele,d1-w,from a local indica variety Xiaolixiang(XLX)using a map-based cloning approach.Compared with other rice varieties,RGA1 in XLX contained a unique single nucleotide polymorphism that resulted in an additional transcript and reduced functional RGA1 transcript level. The RGA1 from Nipponbare was introduced into XLX to estimate the value of d1-w in rice breeding.Compared with transgenic XLX plants(XLX^(D1)),XLX exhibited reduced plant height, increased stem strength, lower reactive oxygen species accumulation, delayed senescence, stronger photosynthesis, higher grain yield and quality(including external, milling and nutritional qualities),and enhanced resistance to drought and Rhizoctonia solani. Therefore,we proposed that the d1-w allele has potential as an excellent dwarfism resource for rice breeding. | LIU Yantong LI Ting JIANG Zhishu ZENG Chuihai HE Rong QIU Jiao LIN Xiaoli PENG Limei SONG Yongping ZHOU Dahu CAI Yicong ZHU Changlan FU Junru HE Haohua XU Jie | 2022 | Rice science2022,29,6: | 2

Study on the Durability of Recycled Powder Concrete against Sulfate Attack under Partial Immersion Condition显示文摘In order to make full use of waste recycled fine powder(RFP)in concrete and achieve the goal of carbon neutrality in the concrete industry, the durability of sulfate resistance is an important aspect of evaluating the performance of recycled powder concrete(RPC).Therefore, the durability of RPC under partial sulfate immersion was studied to provide theoretical guidance for understanding the erosion mechanism of RPC.The compressive strength, mass loss, and microstructure change patterns of RPC under partial immersion of 5%Na2SO4 and MgSO4 solutions were analyzed by cubic compressive strength, mass loss rate,SEM-EDS,and XRD.The results showed that the surface crystalline matter of concrete in Na2SO4 solution was mainly white powders, and that of concrete in MgSO4 solution was mainly transparent paste, both of which had a little spalling on the outer surface of the concrete. The compressive strength and mass loss rate of concrete with 20%RFP was relatively good, indicating that concrete with 20%RFP had better durability against sulfate. The compressive strength of the lower part of the concrete partially immersed in Na2SO4 solution was higher than that of the upper part and the strength of the lower part of RPC-2 was 3.11%higher than the upper part at 180 d;The pattern was reversed in the MgSO4 solution, where the strength of the lower part of RPC-2 was 19.74%lower than the upper part at 180 d.Microscopic analysis showed that the hydration products of RPC were mainly gypsum and ettringite, while the RPC produced more hydration products with the promotion of magnesium ion in the MgSO4 solution. The higher the replacement rate of RFP,the more frequent the gypsum-type failures in the concrete. | Hualei Bai Ying Li Dahu Dai | 2022 | Journal of Renewable Materials2022,10,11: | 0
Joint inversion of Rayleigh group and phase velocities for S-wave velocity structure of the 2021 M_(S)6.0 Luxian earthquake source area,China显示文摘On September 16,2021,a MS6.0 earthquake struck Luxian County, one of the shale gas blocks in the Southeastern Sichuan Basin,China. To understand the seismogenic environment and its mechanism,we inverted a fine three-dimensional S-wave velocity model from ambient noise tomography using data from a newly deployed dense seismic array around the epicenter,by extracting and jointly inverting the Rayleigh phase and group velocities in the period of 1.6–7.2 s.The results showed that the velocity model varied significantly beneath different geological units. The Yujiasi syncline is characterized by low velocity at depths of~3.0–4.0 km,corresponding to the stable sedimentary layer in the Sichuan Basin. The eastern and western branches of the Huayingshan fault belt generally exhibit high velocities in the NE-SW direction, with a few local low-velocity zones. The Luxian MS6.0 earthquake epicenter is located at the boundary between the high-and low-velocity zones, and the earthquake sequences expand eastward from the epicenter at depths of 3.0–5.0 km.Integrated with the velocity variations around the epicenter, distribution of aftershock sequences, and focal mechanism solution,it is speculated that the seismogenic mechanism of the main shock might be interpreted as the reactivation of pre-existing faults by hydraulic fracturing. | Wei Xu Pingping Wu Dahu Li Huili Guo Qiyan Yang Laiyu Lu Zhifeng Ding | 2023 | Earthquake Science2023,36,5: | 0
An epi-allele of SMS causes Sanming dominant genic male sterility in rice显示文摘Male sterility is an important trait in rice for hybrid rice(Oryza sativa)breeding. However, the factors involved in dominant male sterility are largely unknown. Here,we identified a gene from Sanming dominant genic male sterile rice, named Sanming dominant male sterility(SMS),and reported that an epi-allele of this locus contributes to male sterility.Segregation analysis attributed dominant male sterility to a single locus,SMS,which we characterized using a male-sterile near isogenic line(NIL)of rice cultivar 93-11.The SMS locus was heterozygous in the male-sterile 93-11 NIL,containing an epi-allele identical to that in 93-11,and an epi-allele identical to that in rice cultivar Nipponbare, which we refer to as SMS9 and SMSN,respectively.SMS9is silent and hyper-methylated,whereas SMSNis expressed and hypo-methylated in the 93-11 NIL.Overexpressing SMSNled to male sterility.Mutations in SMS rescued the male sterility of the 93-11 NIL.Interestingly,we observed the duplication of SMSN in Nipponbare, but did not observe the duplication of SMS9in 93-11.Together,these findings suggest that the reduced methylation and enhanced expression of the SMSNepi-allele in the 93-11 NIL is responsible for its role in conferring dominant male sterility. | Yachun Yang Cheng Zhang Hao Li Zeyuan Yang Zuntao Xu Dewei Tai Dahu Ni Pengcheng Wei Chengxin Yi Jianbo Yang Yong Ding | 2023 | Science China(Life Sciences)2023,66,12: | 0
| 12 | Research on the Seismic Vulnerability of Building Structure in Sichuan Province显示文摘Research on the seismic vulnerability of building structures is very important for the work of earthquake disaster preparedness and mitigation. On the basis of the related studies over a long time, this paper provides several seismic vulnerability matrices of building structure in different regions of Sichuan Province. Poor anti-seismic capability is one of the factors resulting in the earthquake disasters in the past.
