Community structure and controlled factor of attached green algae on the Porphyra yezoensis aquaculture rafts in the Subei Shoal, China显示文摘This study analyzes the community structure, the quantity changes of the algae and the effect of important environmental factors and estimates the total biomass of the attached green algae in the survey areas. The study uses data from surveys of the attached green algae on the Porphyra yezoensis aquaculture rafts and data regarding the environmental factors from October 2010 to April 2011 in the Subei Shoal. The attached green algae on the rafts included Ulva prolifera, Capsosiphon groenlandicus, U. linza, U. intestinalis, U. clathrata, and U. compressa. The biomass changes of the attached green algae exhibited an inverted parabola: the biomass was the highest(14 898 t) in April, and was the second highest(2 034 t) in November; it was lowest in February(only 729 t) and increased sharply from March to April. The species diversity differed significantly among the seasons. In September and October, when the P. yezoensis aquaculture rafts were initially set up, the attached green algae had a high biodiversity, while from December to the next February, a variety of green algae species coexisted on the rafts, although the biomass was low, and from March to April, as the biomass increased sharply, the species diversity dropped to the minimum. During this time, C. groenlandicus was apparently dominant with the maximum biomass proportion up to 80%, while the U. prolifera proportion increased exponentially to 20% to 40%.The water temperature had a direct regulating effect on the biomass and the species succession of the attached green algae. The estimation of the community dynamics and the biomass of the green algae provided the evidence needed to track the origin of the large-scale green tide in the southern Yellow Sea. | LI Yan XIAO Jie DING Lanping WANG Zongling SONG Wei FANG Song FAN Shiliang LI Ruixiang ZHANG Xuelei | 2015 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2015,34,8: | 6
Morphological and molecular discrimination of green macroalgae Chaetomorpha aerea and C. linum显示文摘Green macroalgae Chaetomorpha aerea and C. linum are taxonomically confused. In this paper, we tried morphological and molecular analyses to separate these two species. C. aerea and C. linum can be distinguished from morphological characteritics, such as frond dimension, cells size and shape, their mean length/width ratios(LWR), and cell walls constriction. Thalli of C. aerea attenuate basipetally, with diameter 270–500 μm at upper portion, 160–360 μm at middle portion, 100–160 μm at basal portion. For the upper part, the length of cells is less than their diameter. Cell walls usually constrict at the dissepiments, which are pellucid or colorless and give the filament beaded appearance. In contrast, thalli of C. linum often have a constant diameter of 90–300 μm within the same individual, cell walls usually do not constrict and cells are cylindrical or barrel shaped. The LWR is larger than that of C. aerea. Results show that the pairwise distance between two species is 3.6%–3.7% for 18 S r RNA gene and 53.5%–54.3% for ITS region. In phylogeny, they distribute at distant clades, which confirms a genetic divergence at molecular level. In addition, morphological data indicates that filament diameter of C. linum samples is highly variable, ranging from 90 μm to 300 μm. Then these two species can be considered as separate species. | HUANG Bingxin TENG Linhong DING Lanping | 2016 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2016,35,4: | 1
Marine green alga Cladophora aokii Yamada and its epiphytes from Yinggehai, Hainan, China: morphological taxonomy, formation and analysis of its environmental adaption显示文摘Based on specimens collected in Yinggehai, Hainan, China from 2013 to 2016, a stable epiphytic taxon is found on the surface of the individual of marine green alga Cladophora aokii Yamada. According to the morphological characteristics, the taxonomy of Cl. aokii and its epiphytes is carried out. There are some epiphytes attached on Cl. aokii Yamada including Cl. fascicularis(Mertens ex C. Agardh) Kützing, Chaetomorpha pachynema(Montagne) Kützing, Ceramium camouii Dawson, Licmophora abbreviata Agardh, Lyngbya sp. and Chattonella sp.. The formation of the individual of Cl. aokii is dissected and explained, which can help to analyze the adaption in details among this species, its epiphytes and native marine environment. The results reveal the marine macroepiphytic taxonomy in Hainan, China, and preliminarily explain the adaptive relationship between macroalgae and environment. | DING Lanping DAI Yue HUANG Bingxin LI Yongmei LIU Rui DENG Shaoyang | 2018 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2018,37,10: | 1
Microscopic Observation of Pyrenoids in Order Ulvales(Chlorophyta) Collected from Qingdao Coast显示文摘Pyrenoids found in green algae Order Ulvales have taxonomical significance.Their morphology, microstructure, and the location and number in the cells have been widely used as identification criteria. As these traits can be affected by environmental conditions,it is necessary to look for other different characteristics. Here pyrenoids in several algae species collected along the Qingdao coast were studied for such purpose. The morphology and distribution of pyrenoids in the cells,as well as their change in different parts of the frond and at different times were studied with light microscope. The results are as follows.Pyrenoids appeared to be spherical or oval in observed Ulvales'algae cells. They were embedded in chloroplasts with the number of 1-3 per cell on average. The number of pyrenoids for Ulva pertusa could change drastically with continuing culture and could reach up to 10-20 per cell in late-growth stages.Generally, the pyrenoids in the marginal part were more observable than those in the central part for Ulva pertusa. In addition, the basal part of frond had more distinct pyrenoids with an average diameter of 2.42 μm for Enteromorpha linza. For some species the pyrenoids were difficult to be observed while dark treatment made them more distinguishable. The apoptosis rate of pyrenoids in different species varied under continuing dark treatment, which could be used to identify different species. Pyrenoids disappeared faster in E. linza than those in E.intestinalis. | TENG Linhong DING Lanping LU Qinqin | 2011 | Journal of Ocean University of China2011,10,3: | 1

Sequences and Phylogeny Analysis of rbcL Gene in Marine Chlorophyta显示文摘The rbcL gene of Ulva pertusa,Enteromorpha prolifera and Monostroma grevillei was amplified, sequenced and analyzed.By comparing the rbcL sequences with seven other Ulvales species retrieved from GenBank, the sequence divergences and thephyletic evolution were analyzed and the phylogenetic tree was constructed. From the phylogenetic tree,it can be found that U.per-tusa,E.prolifera and U.californica group in one branch, while E.compressa,U.rigida and U.fenestrata cluster in another clade.Obviously, unlike the Enteomorpha species, the Ulva species do not gather in one branch. Therefore Ulva and Enteomorpha might beaffiliates of one genus.E.compressa and E.intestinalis gathered together, which coincided with the morphological characters. However, the thallus of U.pertusa is thick and with many holes, which is different from E.prolifera in morphology. They cluster togetherin the phylogenetic tree with a genetic distance of 0.005.The results indicate that Ulva and Enteromorpha are not distinguishedstrictly. | SHEN Songdong LI Yanyan WU Xunjian DING Lanping | 2010 | Journal of Ocean University of China2010,9,2: | 1

Two-stage reproduction derived from cells of thallus could directly contribute to seeds for green tidal algal Enteromorpha(Ulva) prolifera/clathrata bloom, with disclosure of their ephemeral trait显示文摘Green tidal algal Enteromorpha species complete their life cycles by the isomorphic alternation of generations. The provenance of green tide caused by them in the western Yellow Sea has been disputed. The cell reproduction derived from adult thallus was observed on E. clathrata collected from Shantou City, Guangdong Province in this study. Subsequently, it further found that E. proliferia collected from Qingdao City, Shandong Province and Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, produced reproductive cells by somatic cells of its early infantile thallus or branch. The latter is functionally similar to that the seedlings of red alga Porphyra yezoensis produce the monospores, and could exquisitely explain the ephemeral or opportunistic trait and environmental adaptation ability of Enteromorpha species. Changes in growth conditions may induce the two types of cell reproduction. They contribute to the bloom, and can effectively reveal the seasonally occurring large-scale and on-year and offyear phenomenon. The latter may have played a decisive role in its formation. This paper analyses the legal status of the species name, the type of generation during bloom, ephemeral traits, the role of microscopic propagule, the area of origin, on-year and off-year phenomenon, early warning and prevention and control of the species, and so on. On this basis, further study on the influence of environmental factors on cell reproduction of early infantile thalli or branches will achieve a positive effect for early warning and prevention and control of the green tidal algal bloom. | Bingxin Huang Lanping Ding Yao Zhang Youxuan Guo Junxia Liang Yanqi Xie Yue Chu | 2023 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2023,42,9: | 0
The environmental adaptability and reproductive properties of invasive green alga Codium fragile from the Nan'ao Island,South China Sea显示文摘It has been widely recognized that biological invasion has become one of the greatest threats to the ecosystem.Codium fragile is an invasive species which exhibits a variety of attributes like parthenogenesis, winter fragment, and vegetative reproduction;and therefore,it has become a successful invader, colonizing most subtropical regions. In China’s southeast coastal aquaculture waters, the green algal bloom caused by C.fragile will probably become a serious problem. In order to understand more details about the species,an experiment focused on its reproductive characteristics was conducted using culture established from a sample collected in the aquaculture raft of the Nan’ao Island in the South China Sea.The results showed that there were two types of gametes resembling aplanospores and zoospores respectively, both of which were able to germinate.During the gametes liberation,a long mucilage tube was formed out of the mouth of the gametangium assisting dispersal of gametes away from the parent plant. This tube was adapted not only to its surrounding flowing water environment but also to its parent plant’s outer gelatinous structure. In general, the optimum temperature for gametes release and germination was 15-20℃ and 15℃,respectively,which corresponded to the local offshore marine water. The plant was observed to produce vegetative buds under favourable reproductive conditions which were called propagules. They were capable of developing into filamentous thalli. The results will provide some scientific evidences for revealing the biological mechanism of bloom and control strategies of invasive green algae. | Lanping Ding Xulei Wang Bingxin Huang Weizhou Chen Shanwen Chen | 2022 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2022,41,3: | 0
Phenotypic plasticity and taxonomy of Cladophora gracilis(Griffiths)Kützing(Cladophorales,Chlorophyta)in the western Yellow Sea with the implication of its DNA barcode显示文摘Due to extensive morphological plasticity, the taxonomy of Cladophora species remains unclear. As one of the widely distributed species,C.gracilis was reported to hold many varieties, which make it difficult to identify the species. This study explored the morphology diversity of nine C.gracilis samples collected along the coast of western Yellow Sea.Some samples showed extremely varied characteristics,by which one cannot classify them correctly.Hence,18S rDNA and nuclear ribosomal DNA internal transcribed spacer regions(ITS)sequences were employed to delimit species. For 18S rDNA,sequence similarity ranged from 99.6%to 100%.For ITS region, the similarity ranged from 98.7%to 100%.Molecular data strongly suggested that the morphologically heterogeneous samples were actually the same species.Characteristics comparison of the samples revealed that the taxonomy criteria including branching pattern and density, thallus color, height and texture varied widely, influenced by environmental conditions and age of alga.Besides, cell dimensions,as the relatively stable criterion, also exhibited intraspecific variance.Successful application of 18S rDNA and ITS sequences indicated that molecular method can be a powerful assistant as DNA barcodes to traditional morphology taxonomy. | Bingxin Huang Linhong Teng Jingjing Jiang Lanping Ding | 2020 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2020,39,10: | 0
Recent development of pillar[n]arene-based amphiphiles显示文摘Pillar[n]arene-based amphiphiles, mainly including amphiphilic pillar[n]arenes and supra-amphiphilic pillar[n]arenes, have obtained considerable interests in recent years due to their fascinating chemical structures, various self-assembly behaviors, and widely applications. Thanks to the pillar-like frameworks and the rich host-guest recognitions of the cavities, these amphiphiles can be easily controlled to form dimensional and morphologic assemblies for multiple applications.Compared with traditional linear covalent amphiphiles, the introduction of host-guest recognitions facilitated the preparation and controllability of these supramolecular amphiphilic systems. Moreover, the host-guest recognitions endow the assemblies from pillar[n]arene-based amphiphiles with stimuli-responsive functions. In this mini-review,we summarized the chemical structures,self-assembly features, and the applications of pillar[n]arene-based amphiphiles. However, several research topics of pillar[n]arenebased amphiphiles can be further developed in the future, such as larger cavity amphiphilic pillar[n]arenes,co-assembly with 2 D materials and utilization of the host-guest interactions. | Yan Cai Zhecheng Zhang Yue Ding Lanping Hu Jin Wang Tingting Chen Yong Yao | 2021 | Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,4: | 0
Effects of main ecological factors on the growth of marine green alga Caulerpa sertularioides using the response surface methodology显示文摘Caulerpa sertularioides is an invasive potential blooming green alga in China but it remains poorly studied. We studied the effects of ecological factors on its growth.Optimum conditions of ecological factors,i.e.,irradiance,temperature,and salinity, for the growth of its fragments were determined in the response surface methodology(RSM).The specific growth rates(SGR)of the fragments were determined in single-factor experiment. The results show that the SGR of C.sertularioides peaked under the conditions of irradiance 37.5μmol/(m~2·s),temperature25℃,and salinity 30.Meanwhile,using the Box-Behnken design, the conditions were further optimized and verified to be:irradiance 39.03μmol/(m~2·s),temperature 25.29℃,and salinity 30.06,under which the SGR reached 4.66%.The results provide new theoretical data and solutions for the cultivation, invasion prediction, and monitoring of Caulerpa species in China and the world. The RSM method may have great potential applications in the environmental adaptation characteristics of new macroalgal cultivars, intensive orientation cultured germplasm, and environmental hazard analysis of cultivated species in the field. | Bingxin Huang Yue Chu Rongjuan Wang Yixiao Wang Lanping Ding | 2023 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2023,42,11: | 0
