| 1 | Simple and customizable method for fabrication of high-aspect ratio microneedle molds using low-cost 3D printing显示文摘We present a simple and customizable microneedle mold fabrication technique using a low-cost desktop SLA 3D printer.As opposed to conventional microneedle fabrication methods,this technique neither requires complex and expensive manufacturing facilities nor expertise in microfabrication.While most low-cost 3D-printed microneedles to date display low aspect ratios and poor tip sharpness,we show that by introducing a two-step“Print&Fill”mold fabrication method,it is possible to obtain high-aspect ratio sharp needles that are capable of penetrating tissue.Studying first the effect of varying design input parameters and print settings,it is shown that printed needles are always shorter than specified.With decreasing input height,needles also begin displaying an increasingly greater than specified needle base diameter.Both factors contribute to low aspect ratio needles when attempting to print submillimeter height needles.By setting input height tall enough,it is possible to print needles with high-aspect ratios and tip radii of 20–40μm.This tip sharpness is smaller than the specified printer resolution.Consequently,high-aspect ratio sharp needle arrays are printed in basins which are backfilled and cured in a second step,leaving sub-millimeter microneedles exposed resulting microneedle arrays which can be used as male masters.Silicone female master molds are then formed from the fabricated microneedle arrays.Using the molds,both carboxymethyl cellulose loaded with rhodamine B as well as polylactic acid microneedle arrays are produced and their quality examined.A skin insertion study is performed to demonstrate the functional capabilities of arrays made from the fabricated molds.This method can be easily adopted by the microneedle research community for in-house master mold fabrication and parametric optimization of microneedle arrays. | Kevin J.Krieger Nicky Bertollo Manita Dangol John T.Sheridan Madeleine M.Lowery Eoin D.O’Cearbhaill | 2019 | Microsystems & Nanoengineering2019,5,1: | 4 |

| 4 | Green Functions with Pulsating Sources in A Two-Layer Fluid of Finite Depth显示文摘The derivation of Green function in a two-layer fluid model has been treated in different ways.In a two-layer fluid with the upper layer having a free surface,there exist two modes of waves propagating due to the free surface and the interface.This paper is concerned with the derivation of Green functions in the three dimensional case of a stationary source oscillating.The source point is located either in the upper or lower part of a two-layer fluid of finite depth.The derivation is carried out by the method of singularities.This method has an advantage in that it involves representing the potential as a sum of singularities or multipoles placed within any structures being present.Furthermore,experience shows that the systems of equations resulted from using a singularity method possess excellent convergence characteristics and only a few equations are needed to obtain accurate numerical results.Validation is done by showing that the derived two-layer Green function can be reduced to that of a single layer of finite depth or that the upper Green function coincides with that of the lower,for each case.The effect of the density on the internal waves is demonstrated.Also,it is shown how the surface and internal wave amplitudes are compared for both the wave modes.The fluid in this case is considered to be inviscid and incompressible and the flow is irrotational. | MANYANGA D.O 段文洋 | 2011 | China Ocean Engineering2011,25,4: | 2 |

| 8 | Impacts of Climate Variability on Sustainable Agriculture in Imo State,Nigeria显示文摘Rainfall and Temperature are important factors in agriculture especially in Nigeria where rain-fed agriculture is practiced extensively and agriculture contributes to food security and provides employment for urban and rural dwellers.Therefore,climate variability represents a major danger to agriculture by modifying the rainfall and temperature pattern,thereby resulting to a big peril in the sustainability of agriculture.This is the reason all countries of the world are concerned about the effects of climate variability on agriculture.This work therefore,examined the impact of climate variability on rainfall and temperature in Imo State,South Eastern Nigeria.The rainfall and temperature data were gotten from Nigerian Meteorological Agency(NIMET)for a period of 30 years which was analyzed by using descriptive statistics,decadal distribution,trend graph anomalies and 5 year moving average.The analysis showed increasing trend pattern in yearly maximum,minimum temperature and decrease in annual rainfall,The third order polynomial trend shows a decrease in the anomaly of annual mean rainfall(y=-0.0002x4)and a persistent increase in the mean temperature anomaly especially in the second decade(1996-2007).The discoveries show that there is a notable variability in temperature and rainfall pattern which revealed an increase in temperature and decrease in annual rainfall.This calls for serious attention as people in this part of Nigeria critically depend on rainfall for agricultural practices.It is recommended that government should support the agricultural sector by providing mechanized farming systems such as irrigation and drilling of water borehole in farm sites for agriculture,especially for the rural farmers and create awareness to the farmers on recent trends in climate issues to achieve sustainable agriculture. | Ajiere S Diagi B.E Edokpa D.O | 2021 | Journal of Geographical Research2021,4,1: | 1 |
