| 1 | Optical property and spectroscopy studies on the selected lubricating oil in the terahertz range显示文摘The optical property and spectroscopy of selected kinds of lubricating oil are studied based on the terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) in the spectral range of 0.3-1.6 THz. The samples are classified by their characteristics via the near-infrared spectrum. The experimental results reveal that lubricating oil is more sensitive in the range of terahertz than in the near-infrared,and the specific kinds of lubricating oil can be identified according to their different spectral features in the terahertz range. | 3 | THz time-domain spectroscopy of amino acids显示文摘The optical characteristics of four kinds of amino acids (tyrosine, arginine, histidine and glutamine) filled with nitrogen at room temperature were studied by THz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS). Well-resolved absorption and refractive spectrums between 0.1 and 2.8 THz were obtained based on the physical model for extract-ing the optical parameters of materials in THz range. | 4 | Ultrafast hydrogen bond dynamics of liquid water revealed by terahertz-induced transient birefringence显示文摘The fundamental properties of water molecules,such as their molecular polarizability,have not yet been clarified.The hydrogen bond network is generally considered to play an important role in the thermodynamic properties of water.The terahertz(THz)Kerr effect technique,as a novel tool,is expected to be useful in exploring the low-frequency molecular dynamics of liquid water.Here,we use an intense and ultrabroadband THz pulse(peak electric field strength of 14.9 MV/cm,centre frequency of 3.9 THz,and bandwidth of 1–10 THz)to resonantly excite intermolecular modes of liquid water.Bipolar THz field-induced transient birefringence signals are observed in a free-flowing water film.We propose a hydrogen bond harmonic oscillator model associated with the dielectric susceptibility and combine it with the Lorentz dynamic equation to investigate the intermolecular structure and dynamics of liquid water.We mainly decompose the bipolar signals into a positive signal caused by hydrogen bond stretching vibration and a negative signal caused by hydrogen bond bending vibration,indicating that the polarizability perturbation of water presents competing contributions under bending and stretching conditions.A Kerr coefficient equation related to the intermolecular modes of water is established.The ultrafast intermolecular hydrogen bond dynamics of water revealed by an ultrabroadband THz pump pulse can provide further insights into the transient structure of liquid water corresponding to the pertinent modes. | Hang Zhao Yong Tan Liangliang Zhang Rui Zhang Mostafa Shalaby Cunlin Zhang Yuejin Zhao Xi-Cheng Zhang | 2020 | Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1: | 10 |

| 6 | Differences between onset times of bursty bulk flows (BBFs) of two Cluster satellites in the magnetotail显示文摘This paper using the dataset of BBFs (bursty bulk flows) observed by two Cluster satellites C1 and C4 studies the difference between onset times of BBFs observed by C1 and C4. It is found that the onset time differences of most of BBFs observed by C1 and C4 are smaller than 60 s. The average onset time difference of BBFs of C1 and C4 is 68.5 s. The probabilities of onset time difference of BBFs of C1 and C4 larger than 30 60 90 and 120 s are respectively 55% 35% 27% and 23%. The largest onset time difference of BBFs of C1 and C4 decreases with the increase of earthward component of maximum velocities of BBFs. The onset time difference of BBFs of C1 and C4 results from the velocity inhomogeneity inside the flow channel of BBF which may be produced in propagation path and/or in source region of BBFs. Such a wide range of onset time difference of BBFs suggests that the velocity inhomogeneity inside the flow channel of BBF is various. | 8 | Cuticles and Spores in Situ of Coniopteris hymenophylloides from the Middle Jurassic in Gansu, Northwestern China显示文摘Coniopteris was a ubiquitous plant of the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods and played an important role in the flora of the time. However, its anatomical structure is relatively poorly known. The specimens of Coniopteris hymenophylloides(Brongniart) Seward described here were collected from the Yaojie Formation in Gansu Province, northwestern China. The sterile fronds are characterized as being at least bipinnate with alternate arranged linear pinnae covered by thin cuticles. Fertile fronds are linear-lanceolate, with single sorus at the margin of each fertile pinnule. In situ spores are typically trilete, triangle to subcircular in polar view, cap-shaped in equatorial view, and 37 μm in average diameter. The trilete marking is straight and narrow, generally extends to 4/5 of the spore radius. The spore surface is smooth, and parts of the exine are granulated. The epidermal cells of cuticles are irregular in shape, approximately 40-60μm long and 10-20 μm wide. The elliptical stomatal complexes are paracytic,approximately 30 μm long and 19 μm wide,and irregularly distributed. | 9 | Broadband THz Sources from Gases to Liquids显示文摘Matters are generally classified within four states:solid,liquid,gas,and plasma.Three of the four states of matter(solid,gas,and plasma)have been used for THz wave generation with short laser pulse excitation for decades,including the recent vigorous development of THz photonics in gases(air plasma).However,the demonstration of THz generation from liquids was conspicuously absent.It is well known that water,the most common liquid,is a strong absorber in the far infrared range.Therefore,liquid water has historically been sworn off as a source for THz radiation.Recently,broadband THz wave generation from a flowing liquid target has been experimentally demonstrated through laser-induced microplasma.The liquid target as the THz source presents unique properties.Specifically,liquids have the comparable material density to that of solids,meaning that laser pulses over a certain area will interact with three orders more molecules than an equivalent cross-section of gases.In contrast with solid targets,the fluidity of liquid allows every laser pulse to interact with a fresh area on the target,meaning that material damage or degradation is not an issue with the high-repetition rate intense laser pulses.These make liquids very promising candidates for the investigation of high-energy-density plasma,as well as the possibility of being the next generation of THz sources. | Yiwen E Liangliang Zhang Anton Tcypkin Sergey Kozlov Cunlin Zhang X.-C.Zhang | 2021 | Ultrafast Science2021,,1: | 3 |

| 11 | Carrier dynamics and terahertz photoconductivity of doped silicon measured by femtosecond pump-terahertz probe spectroscopy显示文摘The carrier dynamics and terahertz photoconductivity in the n-type silicon (n-Si) as well as in the p-type Silicon (p-Si) have been investigated by using femtosecond pump-terahertz probe technique. The measurements show that the relative change of terahertz transmission of p-Si at low pump power is slightly smaller than that of n-Si,due to the lower carrier density induced by the recombination of original holes in the p-type material and the photogenerated electrons. At high pump power,the bigger change of terahertz transmission of p-Si originates from the greater mobility of the carriers compared to n-Si. The transient photoconductivities are calculated and fit well with the Drude-Smith model,showing that the mobility of the photogenerated carriers decreases with the increasing pump power. | 12 | Numerical Taxonomy and Bayes Discriminant Analysis on 42 Fossil Species in Dicksoniaceae from China显示文摘As the basal group of Polypodiales, the specific taxonomy of Dicksoniaceae is still being debated. As aquantitative analysis method, numerical taxonomy has been applied to the taxonomic study of many plant families andgenera in recent years due to its simplicity and high accuracy. However, the numerical analysis of the Dicksoniaceae fossilshas not been reported at present. In the present study, the pinnule morphological data of 42 Mesozoic fossil species of theDicksoniaceae were analyzed using cluster analysis, principal component analysis and correlation analysis. The resultsrevealed that 42 taxonomic units could be divided into six representative groups, which are consistent with the traditionaltaxonomy. After screening, an identification key on 28 fossil species of four genera with a definite taxonomic position wasestablished. According to the quantitative analysis, a Bayes discriminant model was established for the selected species.Lastly, the model was tested using the morphological data of the fossil pinnules in Dicksoniaceae from the YaojieFormation, suggesting that the discriminant model is accurate to a certain extent.
