| 2 | Reworking effects in the Holocene Zhuye Lake sediments:A case study by pollen concentrates AMS ^(14)C dating显示文摘Transported by wind and water,the relatively old sediments can deposit in the terminal lake of an inland drainage basin.The reworking effect can affect the lake sediments 14 C dating and explanations for proxies.The Zhuye Lake is the terminal lake of the Shiyang River Basin.Previous studies indicated that sediments in different locations of the lake basin showed different climatic change patterns.And then,some radiocarbon dates were inverted for some Late Pleistocene sections.Whether this phenomenon is related with the reworking effect? | 4 | Effects of Target and Distractor Saturations on the Cognitive Performance of an Integrated Display Interface显示文摘Color coding is often used to enhance decision quality in complex man-machine interfaces of integrated display systems. However, people are easily distracted by irrelevant colors and by the numerous data points and complex structures in the interface. Although an increasing number of studies are seriously focusing on the problem of achieving efficient color coding, few are able to determine the effects of target and distractor saturations on cognitive performance. To study the performances of target colors among distractors, a systematic experiment is conducted to assess the influence of high and low saturated targets on cognitive performance, and the affecting extent of different saturated distractors of homogeneous colors on targets. According to the analysis of the reaction time through the non-parametric statistical method, a calculation method of the cognitive performance of each color is proposed. Based on the calculation of the color differences and the accumulation of the reaction times, it is shown that with the different saturated distractors of homogeneous colors, the high saturated yellow targets perform better than the low saturated ones, and the green and blue targets have moderate performances. When searching for a singleton target placed on a black background, the color difference between the target and the distractor should be more than 20ΔE*ab units in the yellow saturation coding, whereas the color difference should be more than 40ΔE*ab units in the blue and green saturation coding. In addition, as regards saturation coding, the influence of the color difference between the target and the background on cognitive performance is greater than that of the color difference between the target and the distractor. Seemingly, the hue attribute determines whether the saturation difference between the target and the distractor affects the cognitive performance. Based on the experimental results, the simulation design of the instrument dials in a flight situation awareness interface is completed and tested. | 5 | Effects of intermittent loading time and stress ratio on dwell fatigue behavior of titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V ELI used in deep-sea submersibles显示文摘Different components of deep-sea submersibles,such as the pressure hull,are usually subjected to intermittent loading,dwell loading,and unloading during service.Therefore,for the design and reliability assessment of structural parts under dwell fatigue loading,understanding the effects of intermittent loading time on dwell fatigue behavior of the alloys is essential.In this study,the effects of the intermittent loading time and stress ratio on dwell fatigue behavior of the titanium alloy Ti-6 Al-4 V ELI were investigated.Results suggest that the dwell fatigue failure modes of Ti-6 Al-4 V ELI can be classified into three types,i.e.,fatigue failure mode,ductile failure mode,and mixed failure mode.The intermittent loading time does not affect the dwell fatigue behavior,whereas the stress ratio significantly affects the dwell fatigue life and dwell fatigue mechanism.The dwell fatigue life increases with an increase in the stress ratio for the same maximum stress,and specimens with a negative stress ratio tend to undergo ductile failure.The mechanism of dwell fatigue of titanium alloys is attribute to an increase in the plastic strain caused by the part of the dwell loading,thereby resulting in an increase in the actual stress of the specimens during the subsequent loading cycles and aiding the growth of the formed crack or damage,along with the local plastic strain or damage induced by the part of the fatigue load promoting the cumulative plastic strain during the dwell fatigue process.The interaction between dwell loading and fatigue loading accelerates specimen failure,in contrast to the case for individual creep or fatigue loading alone.The dwell fatigue life and cumulative maximum strain during the first loading cycle could be correlated by a linear relationship on the log–log scale.This relationship can be used to evaluate the dwell fatigue life of Ti alloys with the maximum stress dwell. | Chengqi Sun Yanqing Li Kuilong Xu Baotong Xu | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,18: | 7 |
| 6 | Early Holocene environment at a key location of the northwest boundary of the Asian summer monsoon: a synthesis on chronologies of Zhuye Lake, Northwest China显示文摘The intensified monsoon increases summer rainfall and creates wet conditions in the Asian summer monsoon region during the early Holocene. Along with millennial-scale changes of the monsoon intensity, it is still unclear whether the boundary of the monsoon region changes according to monsoon variability. Investigations into the early Holocene environment in monsoon marginal zones are crucial for understanding the monsoon boundary changes. Zhuye Lake is located at the northwest edge of the Asian summer monsoon, the northern Qilian Mountains, which are less affected by modern summer monsoon water vapor. Previous studies have reached different conclusions regarding the early Holocene climatic and environmental changes based on different dating methods(14C and OSL(optically stimulated luminescence)) and materials(shells, carbonate, pollen concentrates and bulk organic carbon). In this study, we synthesized 102 14C dates and 35 OSL dates from ten Holocene sedimentary sections and ten paleo-shorelines in the lake basin. A comparison between ages from different dating methods and materials generally shows that carbon reservoir effects are relatively slight in Zhuye Lake while the disordered chronologies are mainly related to the erosion processes and reworking effects. In addition, proxy data, including lithology, pollen, total organic carbon and carbonate, were collected from different sites of Zhuye Lake. According to the new synthesis, the early Holocene environment was relatively humid, associated with high runoff and lake water levels. The result indicates that the monsoon boundary moves to the north during the period of the intensified monsoon. A typical arid-area lake was formed during the mid-Holocene when carbonate accumulation and high organic matter contents were the main features of this period. The lake retreated strongly during the late Holocene, showing a drought trend. | 12 | High-temperature failure mechanism and defect sensitivity of TC17 titanium alloy in high cycle fatigue显示文摘Crack initiation is an essential stage of fatigue process due to its direct effect on fatigue failure.However,for titanium alloys in high-temperature high cycle fatigue(HCF),the crack initiation mechanisms remain unclear and the understanding for the defect sensitivity is also lacking.In this study,a series of fatigue tests and multi-scale microstructure characterizations were conducted to explore the high-temperature failure mechanism,and the coupled effect of temperature and defect on TC17 titanium alloy in HCF.It was found that an oxygen-rich layer(ORL)was produced at specimen surface at elevated temperatures,and brittle fracture of ORL at surface played a critical role for surface crack initiation in HCF.Besides,internal crack initiation with nanograins at high temperatures was a novel finding for the titanium alloy.Based on energy dispersive spectroscopy,electron backscatter diffraction and transmission electron microscope characterizations,the competition between surface and internal crack initiations at high temperatures was related to ORL at surface and dislocation resistance in inner microstructure.The fatigue strengths of smooth specimens decreased at elevated temperatures due to the lower dislocation resistance.While the fatigue strengths of the specimens with defect were not very sensitive to the temperatures.Finally,a fatigue strength model considering the coupled effect of temperature and defect was proposed for TC17titanium alloy. | Gen Li Chengqi Sun | 2022 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,27: | 2 |

Identifying the binding sites of RNA-binding proteins(RBPs) remains one of the most fundamental and important challenges to the studies of such interactions. Capturing RNA and RBPs via chemical crosslinking allows stringent purification procedures that significantly remove the non-specific RNA and protein interactions. Two major types of chemical crosslinking strategies have been developed to date, i.e., UV-enabled crosslinking and enzymatic mechanism-based covalent capture. In this review, we compare such strategies and their current applications, with an emphasis on the technologies themselves rather than the biology that has been revealed. | 20 | A two-year(2020–2021)observation of marine phycotoxins in phytoplankton in typical mariculture areas of East China Sea显示文摘To learn the marine phycotoxins(MPTs)contamination status in mariculture areas in the East China Sea(ECS),from May 2020 to October 2021,80 net-concentrated phytoplankton samples were collected from 12 stations in three typical areas with high incidence of red tides,namely,Gouqi Island,Sandu’ao-Lianjiang,and Zhangzhou-Dongshan Island in ECS,and MPTs of the samples were detected.Six types of toxins were detected in 24 samples from 9 stations.Lipophilic marine toxins(LMTs)were more common and diverse in these areas.Pectenotoxin 2(PTX2)was the main lipophilic marine toxin(LMT)in the concentrated phytoplankton samples and the occurrence showed seasonal differences from north to south.According to the potential risks of pectenotoxin(PTXs)to seafood safety,it is suggested to execute regular monitoring on PTXs in ECS and a mandatory standard should be formulated based on the comprehensive analysis of in-situ monitoring and lab research.Meanwhile,contamination risks of cyclic imine toxins in the north and domoic acid(DA)in the south of ECS should also be paid with attention to.Only 2 paralytic shellfish toxins(PSTs),N-sulfocarbamoyl toxin C2(C2),and decarbamoyl gonyatoxin 3(dcGTX3),were found from spring samples in the north of ECS.As the biggest mussel culture county of China,Gouqi Island showed higher toxin diversity and the toxin detection rate was higher than the other two areas.In Gouqi Island area,PSTs were a serious potential threat in spring,and LMTs instead of PSTs became the main risk in summer-autumn seasons.To ensure the safety of seafood and marine environmental health,it is recommended to conduct long-term targeted tracking and monitoring of MPTs in this and similar mariculture areas. | Xiaoqing TIAN Chengqi FAN Yunyu TANG Haiyan ZHANG Wei KANG Sha CHEN Chongbin LI Ya’nan LU | 2022 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2022,40,6: | 1 |
