| 1 | Mercury levels and estimated total daily intakes for children and adults from an electronic waste recycling area in Taizhou, China: Key role of rice and fish consumption显示文摘In order to assess the potential health risks of Hg pollution, total mercury(T–Hg) and methyl mercury(Me Hg) concentrations were determined in air, dust, surface soil, crops, poultry, fish and human hair samples from an electronic waste(e-waste) recycling area in Taizhou,China. High concentrations of T–Hg and Me Hg were found in these multiple matrices, and the mean concentration was 30.7 ng/m3 of T–Hg for atmosphere samples, 3.1 μg/g of T–Hg for soil, 37.6 μg/g of T–Hg for dust, 20.3 ng/g of Me Hg for rice and 178.1 ng/g of Me Hg for fish, suggesting that the e-waste recycling facility was a significant source of Hg. The inorganic Hg(I–Hg) levels(0.84 μg/g) in hair samples of e-waste workers were much higher than that in the reference samples. Pearson's correlation coefficients showed that strong positive correlations(p < 0.01) between hair I–Hg and time staying in industrial area(r = 0.81) and between Me Hg and fish consumption frequency(r = 0.91), imply that workers were mainly exposed to Hg vapor through long-time inhalation of contaminated air and dust, while other population mainly exposed to Me Hg through high-frequency fish consumption. The estimated daily intakes of Hg showed that dietary intake was the major Hg exposure source, and Hg intakes from rice and fish were significantly higher than from any other foods. The estimated total daily intakes(TDIs) of Me Hg for both children(696.8 ng/(kg·day)) and adults(381.3 ng/(kg·day)) greatly exceeded the dietary reference dose(Rf D) of 230 ng/(kg·day),implying greater health risk for humans from Hg exposures around e-waste recycling facilities. | Wei Tang Jinping Cheng Wenchang Zhao Wenhua Wang | 2015 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2015,27,8: | 8 |
| 2 | A novel stochastic reaction-diffusion model of Ca^2+ blink in cardiac myocytes显示文摘In cardiac myocytes, the sarcoplasmic reticulum(SR)is the main storage organelle of free Ca^(2+).The concentration of free Ca^(2+)in the SR is 0.5–1.0 mmol/L and is 2–3 orders of magnitude greater than that in the cytosol. The SR is composed of interconnected cisternae(junctional SR,i.e.,JSR)and tubules(free SR network,i.e.,FSR)that extend throughout the cytosol[1].Ca^(2+)is released from the JSR into the cytosol via Ca^(2+)release units(CRUs, | Jinghui Li Wenjun Xie Xi Chen Yunlong Huo Heping Cheng Wenchang Tan | 2017 | Science Bulletin2017,62,1: | 2 |

| 6 | 3D spiral channels combined with flexible micro-sieve for high-throughput rare tumor cell enrichment and assay from clinical pleural effusion samples显示文摘The sieving and enrichment of rare tumor cells from large-volume pleural effusion(PE)samples is a promising technique for cell-based lung tumor diagnosis and drug tests, which features high throughput and recovery, purification,as well as viability rates of rare target cells as the prerequisites for high sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of tumor cell analysis. In this paper,we propose a three-dimensional(3 D)sieving method for rare tumor cell enrichment, which effectively eliminates the'dead zones'in traditional two-dimensional(2 D)cell filters with a dimension-raising strategy to satisfy the requirements mentioned above. The prototype device was combined with a funnel-shaped holder,a flexible micropore membrane in the middle, and a3 D spiral fluid channel covered on the membrane as a three-layer ice-creaming cone composite structure.Driven by gravity alone, the device performed as follows:(1)20-fold throughput compared with the 2 D commercial planee hich was up to 20 mL/min for a threefold dilution of whole blood sample;(2)high recovery rates of 84.5%±21%,86%±25%,83%±14%for 100,1000,and 10000 cells/mL,respectively,in 30 mL phosphate buffer saline(PBS)sample, and a 100%positive detection rate in the case of≤5 A549 cells in 1 mL PBS;(3)a typical purification rate of 85.5%±9.1%;and(4)a viability rate of>93%.In the demonstration application, this device effectively enriched rare target cells from large volumes(>25 mL)of clinical pleural effusions. The following results indicated that tumor cells were easy-to-discover in the enriched PE samples, and the proliferation capability of purified cells was(>4.6 times)significantly stronger than that of unprocessed cells in the subsequent 6-day culture. The above evaluation indicates that the proposed easily reproducible method for the effective execution of rare cell enrichments and assays is expected to become a practical technique for clinical cell-based tumor diagnosis. | Jie Cheng Lina Zhang Yiran Zhang Yifei Ye Wenjie Zhao Lingqian Zhang Yuang Li Yang Liu Wenchang Zhang Hongyan Guo Mingxiao Li Yang Zhao Chengjun Huang | 2022 | Bio-Design and Manufacturing2022,5,2: | 0 |
| 7 | Balloon-occluded retrograde transvenous obliteration with lauromacrogol sclerosant foam for gastric varices显示文摘Objectives:To evaluate the safety and efficacy of balloon-occluded retrograde transvenous obliteration(BRTO)using lauromacrogol sclerosant foam for gastric varices(GVs)with gastrorenal venous shunts. Methods:Data of GV patients treated with BRTO using lauromacrogol sclerosant foam in 2016–2020 were retrospectively analyzed along with procedural success rate, complications, and follow-up efficacy. Results:A total of 31 patients were treated with BRTO.The sclerosant foam was prepared by mixing iodinated oil, lauromacrogol, and air at a 1:2:3 ratio. The BRTO procedure was successfully completed in 93.5%of patients. One patient was allergic to the lauromacrogol injection.A mild postoperative fever occurred in three patients. One patient experienced grand mal seizures after the procedure. There was no significant difference in the median Child-Turcotte-Pugh scores before versus after BRTO.Complete GV resolution was observed in 93.1%of patients. One patient underwent endoscopic treatment for the development of high-risk esophageal varices.Another patient underwent transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt placement for the aggravation of ascites. Conclusions:Lauromacrogol sclerosant foam is safe and effective in patients undergoing BRTO for GV. | Zhiyang Wu Wei Wu Cheng Tao Qin Liu Wenchang Li Qinbing Wang Wei Huang Junwei Gu Xiaoyan Fei Zhongmin Wang Xiaoyi Ding | 2022 | Journal of Interventional Medicine2022,5,3: | 0 |
