| 1 | Dahuang Fuzi decoction reduces inflammation levels and alleviates intestinal mucosal barrier damage in septic rats显示文摘Objective:To investigate the protective effect of Dahuang Fuzi Decoction(DHFZD),a traditional Chinese prescription,at alleviating sepsis-induced inflammation and gut barrier damage in rats.Methods:Forty clean-grade male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided randomly into three groups:normal control group(NCG,n?10),model control group(MCG,n?15)and DHFZD-treated group(DHFZDG,n?15).NCG rats were sham operated on and used as the controls,whereas MCG and DHFZDG rats were used to replicate the rat sepsis model using cecal ligation and puncture(CLP).The DHFZDG rats received DHFZD by gavage(4.5 mg/g of body weight)2 h prior to CLP and after its successful induction,while the NCG and MCG rats received equivalent amounts of sterilized water by gavage.All rat groups were starved and had free access to water.At 24 h post-experimental set up,the mortality of rats in each group was recorded,and peritoneal inflammation assessment and pathological changes related to the intestinal mucosal injury index(IMII)in the surviving rats were evaluated.D-lactic acid,tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-a,interleukin(IL)-6 and IL-10 peripheral blood concentrations,along with secretory immunoglobulin A(sIgA)in the intestinal mucosa were evaluated by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays.Gut microbes were detected using 16S rRNA gene sequencing.Results:DHFZD reduced sepsis-related mortality in the rats.Moreover,it alleviated peritoneal inflammation and pathological changes according to the IMII.DHFZD reduced serum procalcitonin,TNF-a and IL-6 concentrations,but not the IL-10 concentration.It also reduced serum D-lactic acid and increased sIgA concentrations in intestinal mucosa.Notably,DHFZDG restored gut microbiota diversity and regulated the decrease in Bacteroidetes induced by sepsis,compared with the MCG rats.Conclusion:DHFZDG may play a protective role in sepsis by alleviating sepsis-induced inflammation and gut barrier damage in rats. | Fusheng Liu Chunyue Yu Jin Liu Nadia Johnson Yin Zhang Zeqi Su Chenchen Sun Xia Ding | 2020 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medical Sciences2020,7,1: | 3 |
| 2 | An application of the LTP_DSEF model to heavy precipitation forecasts of landfalling tropical cyclones over China in 2018显示文摘Recently, a track-similarity-based Dynamical-Statistical Ensemble Forecast(LTP_DSEF) model has been developed in an attempt to predict heavy rainfall from Landfalling Tropical cyclones(LTCs). In this study, the LTP_DSEF model is applied to predicting heavy precipitation associated with 10 LTCs occurring over China in 2018. The best forecast scheme of the model with optimized parameters is obtained after testing 3452 different schemes for the 10 LTCs. Then, its performance is compared to that of three operational dynamical models. Results show that the LTP_DSEF model has advantages over the three dynamical models in predicting heavy precipitation accumulated after landfall, especially for rainfall amounts greater than 250 mm. The model also provides superior or slightly inferior heavy rainfall forecast performance for individual LTCs compared to the three dynamical models. In particular, the LTP_DSEF model can predict heavy rainfall with valuable threat scores associated with certain LTCs, which is not possible with the three dynamical models. Moreover, the model can reasonably capture the distribution of heavier accumulated rainfall, albeit with widespread coverage compared to observations. | 3 | Molecularly engineered tumor acidity-responsive plant toxin gelonin for safe and efficient cancer therapy显示文摘Due to the unsatisfactory therapeutic efficacy and inexorable side effects of small molecule antineoplastic agents,extensive efforts have been devoted to the development of more potent macromolecular agents with highspecificity.Gelonin is a plant-derived protein toxin that exhibits robust antitumor effect via inactivating ribosomesand inhibiting protein synthesis.Nonetheless,its poor internalization ability to tumor cells has compromisedthe therapeutic promise of gelonin.In this study,a tumor acidity-responsive intracellular protein deliverysystem-functional gelonin(Trx-pHLIP-Gelonin,TpG)composed of a thioredoxin(Trx)tag,a pH low insertionpeptide(pHLIP)and gelonin,was designed and obtained by genetic recombination technique for the first time.TpG could effectively enter into tumor cells under weakly acidic conditions and markedly suppress tumor cellproliferation via triggering cell apoptosis and inhibiting protein synthesis.Most importantly,treatment byintravenous injection into subcutaneous SKOV3 solid tumors in a mouse model showed that TpG was much moreeffective than gelonin in curtailing tumor growth rates with negligible toxicity.Collectively,our present worksuggests that the tumor acidity-targeted delivery manner endowed by pHLIP offers a new avenue for efficientdelivery of other bioactive substances to acidic diseased tissues. | Guo-Bin Ding Chenchen Zhu Qian Wang Huiyan Cao Bin-Chun Li Peng Yang Roland H.Stauber Guangjun Nie Zhuoyu Li | 2022 | Bioactive Materials2022,7,12: | 1 |

| 10 | Three-dimensionally ordered macroporous(3DOM) structure promoted the activity and H_(2)O poisoning resistance of Ce Mn/3DOM-TiO_(2) catalyst in NH_(3)-SCR显示文摘NH_(3)-SCR is an effective mean of NOxremoval in the non-electric industry, however, the high activation temperature and poor H_(2)O resistance of SCR catalysts posed a barrier to its application. In this work, a series of three-dimensionally ordered macroporous(3DOM) catalysts were synthesized via a colloidal crystal template(CCT) method, and various characterizations were carried out to explore the physicochemical property of catalysts. The experiment results reveal that Ce_(0.2)Mn_(0.2)/3DOM-TiO_(2) catalyst presents the excellent low-temperature catalytic activity of nearly 100% at 100℃. Furthermore, the enhanced H_(2)O resistance is achieved, certified by the unaffected NO remove at 150℃ in the participation of 15 vol% H_(2)O. The characterizations results exhibit that the improved dispersion of the active component and enhanced redox ability are conducive to the low-temperature catalytic activity. N_(2) adsorption and desorption experiments indicate that catalyst with 3DOM support possesses a larger pore diameter and specific surface area, which may weaken the condensation of H_(2)O in the microporosity of catalysts and improved the H_(2)O resistance of the catalyst. | 11 | A highly degradable Mg-Al-Ca alloy with superior anti-tumor efficacy显示文摘Molecule hydrogen(H_(2)) has been used to suppress tumor growth. To employ the H_(2) therapy, it is necessary to use a proper agent for continuous generation of H_(2). As a biodegradable metal, magnesium(Mg) generates H_(2) in an aqueous environment, but the H_(2) release rate is still too low. Here, we design a Mg-Al-Ca(AX) alloy that degrades very rapidly due to the presence of a secondary phase Al_(2)Ca. Having a reduction potential much higher than Mg and any other Mg-based secondary phases, Al_(2)Ca accelerates the corrosion of the Mg matrix by a micro-galvanic process. Al_(2)Ca also enhances the strength and ductility of the AX alloy. AX alloy rods show better anti-tumor efficacy than pure Mg rods in vivo. | 12 | Analytical Modelling and Experiment of Novel Rotary Electro-Mechanical Converter with Negative Feedback Mechanism for 2D Valve显示文摘The manufacturing of spiral groove structure of two-dimensional valve(2D valve)feedback mechanism has shortcomings of both high cost and time-consuming.This paper presents a novel configuration of rotary electro-mechanical converter with negative feedback mechanism(REMC-NFM)in order to replace the feedback mechanism of spiral groove and thus reduce cost of valve manufacturing.In order to rapidly and quantitative evaluate the driving and feedback performance of the REMC-NFM,an analytical model taking leakage flux,edge effect and permeability nonlinearity into account is formulated based on the equivalent magnetic circuit approach.Then the model is properly simplified in order to obtain the optimal pitch angle.FEM simulation is used to study the influence of crucial parameters on the performance of REMC-NFM.A prototype of REMC-NFM is designed and machined,and an exclusive experimental platform is built.The torque-angle characteristics,torque-displacement characteristics,and magnetic flux density in the working air gap with different excitation currents are measured.The experimental results are in good agreement with the analytical and FEM simulated results,which verifies the correctness of the analytical model.For torque-angle characteristics,the overall torque increases with both current and rotation angle,which reaches about 0.48 N·m with 1.5 A and 1.5°.While for torque-displacement characteristics,the overall torque increases with current yet decrease with armature displacement due to the negative feedback mechanism,which is about 0.16 N·m with 1.5 A and 0.8 mm.Besides,experimental results of conventional torque motor are compared with counterparts of REMC-NFM in order to validate the simplified model.The research indicates that the REMC-NFM can be potentially used as the electro-mechanical converter for 2D valves in civil servo areas. | Bin Meng Mingzhu Dai Chenhang Zhu Chenchen Zhang Chuan Ding Jian Ruan | 2022 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2022,35,5: | 0 |
