| 1 | Additive manufacturing of steel–copper functionally graded material with ultrahigh bonding strength显示文摘Additive manufacturing enables processing of functionally graded materials(FGMs)with flexible spatial design and high bonding strength.A steel-copper FGM with high interfacial strength was developed using laser powder bed fusion(LPBF).The effect of laser process parameters on interfacial defects was evaluated by X-ray tomography,which indicates a low porosity level of 0.042%therein.Gradient/fine dendritic grains in the interface are incited by high cooling rates,which facilitates interface strengthening.Multiple mechanical tests evaluate the bonding reliability of interface;and the fatigue tests further substantiate the ultrahigh bonding strength in FGMs,which is superior to traditional manufacturing methods.Mechanisms of the high interfacial bond strength were also discussed. | Chaolin Tan Youxiang Chew Guijun Bi Di Wang Wenyou Ma Yongqiang Yang Kesong Zhou | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,13: | 7 |

| 3 | Antidiabetic effect of an engineered bacterium Lactobacillus plantarum-pMG36e-GLP-1 in monkey model显示文摘Glucagon-like peptide-1(GLP-1)reduces postprandial hyperglycaemia,but its short half-life inhibits clinical application.The aim of the current study was to evaluate the treatment efforts of an engineered strain,Lactobacillus plantarum-pMG36e-GLP-1(L.plantarum-pMG36e-GLP-1),that continuously expresses GLP-1 in spontaneous type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)monkeys.After 7 weeks of oral supplementation with L.plantarum-pMG36e-GLP-1,the fasting blood glucose(FPG)of monkeys was significantly(p<0.05)reduced to a normal level and only a small amount of weight was lost.The results of metagenomic sequencing showed that L.plantarum-pMG36e-GLP-1 caused a substantial(p<0.05)reduction in the intestinal pathogen Prevotella and marked enhancement of butyrate-producing Alistipes genera.According to the functional analysis using Kyoto Encyclopaedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)pathways,19 metabolism-related pathways were significantly enriched in T2DM monkeys after treatment with L.plantarum-pMG36e-GLP-1.LC-MS faecal metabolomics analysis found 41 significant differential metabolites(11 higher and 30 lower)in monkeys after treatment pathways linked to the metabolism of cofactors and vitamins were the most relevant.The present study suggests that L.plantarum-pMG36e-GLP-1 had an impact on the gut microbial composition and faecal metabolomic profile in spontaneous T2DM monkeys and may be a novel candidate for diabetes treatment. | Jie Luo Hongfei Zhang Jiachen Lu ChaoLin Ma Tingtao Chen | 2021 | Synthetic and Systems Biotechnology2021,6,4: | 3 |
| 4 | Neurons in Primary Motor Cortex Encode Hand Orientation in a Reach-to-Grasp Task显示文摘It is disputed whether those neurons in the primary motor cortex(M1) that encode hand orientation constitute an independent channel for orientation control in reach-to-grasp behaviors. Here, we trained two monkeys to reach forward and grasp objects positioned in the frontal plane at different orientation angles, and simultaneously recorded the activity of M1 neurons. Among the 2235 neurons recorded in M1, we found that 18.7% had a high correlation exclusively with hand orientation, 15.9% with movement direction, and 29.5% with both movement direction and hand orientation. The distributions of neurons encoding hand orientation and those encoding movement direction were not uniform but coexisted in the same region. The trajectory of hand rotation was reproduced by the firing patterns of the orientation-related neurons independent of the hand reaching direction. | 5 | Practical operation and theoretical basis of difference-in-difference regression in science of science:The comparative trial on the scientific performance of Nobel laureates versus their coauthors显示文摘Purpose:In recent decades,with the availability of large-scale scientific corpus datasets,difference-in-difference(DID)is increasingly used in the science of science and bibliometrics studies.DID method outputs the unbiased estimation on condition that several hypotheses hold,especially the common trend assumption.In this paper,we gave a systematic demonstration of DID in the science of science,and the potential ways to improve the accuracy of DID method.Design/methodology/approach:At first,we reviewed the statistical assumptions,the model specification,and the application procedures of DID method.Second,to improve the necessary assumptions before conducting DID regression and the accuracy of estimation,we introduced some matching techniques serving as the pre-selecting step for DID design by matching control individuals who are equivalent to those treated ones on observational variables before the intervention.Lastly,we performed a case study to estimate the effects of prizewinning on the scientific performance of Nobel laureates,by comparing the yearly citation impact after the prizewinning year between Nobel laureates and their prizewinning-work coauthors.Findings:We introduced the procedures to conduct a DID estimation and demonstrated the effectiveness to use matching method to improve the results.As a case study,we found that there are no significant increases in citations for Nobel laureates compared to their prizewinning coauthors.Research limitations:This study ignored the rigorous mathematical deduction parts of DID,while focused on the practical parts.Practical implications:This work gives experimental practice and potential guidelines to use DID method in science of science and bibliometrics studies.Originality/value:This study gains insights into the usage of econometric tools in science of science. | Yurui Huang Chaolin Tian Yifang Ma | 2023 | Journal of Data and Information Science2023,8,1: | 0 |
| 6 | Study on damage-stress loss coupling model of rock and prestressed anchor cable in dry-wet environment显示文摘The loss of anchoring force is one of the problems to be solved urgently.The anchorage loss is a key factor causing the failure of anchoring engineering,so it is crucial to study the time-dependent variation of anchoring force.Alternating dry and wet(D-W)conditions have a significant effect on deformation of rock.The anchoring system is composed of anchoring components and rock mass,and thus rock deformation has a significant impact on the loss of anchoring force.Quantifying rock deformation under the effects of D-W cycles is a prerequisite to understanding the factors that influence loss of anchoring force in anchor bolts.In this study,we designed an anchoring device that enabled real-time monitoring of the variation in strain during D-W periods and rock testing.Nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)measurements showed that under D-W conditions,the increment in porosity was smaller for prestressed rock than unstressed rock.The trends of prestress loss and strain variation are consistent,which can be divided into three characteristic intervals:rapid attenuation stage,slow attenuation stage and relatively stable stage.At the same stress level,the rate of stress loss and strain for the soaking specimen was the highest,while that of the dried specimen was the lowest.In the same D-W cycling conditions,the greater the prestress,the smaller the strain loss rate of the rock,especially under soaking conditions.The characteristics of pore structure and physical mechanical parameters indicated that prestress could effectively suppress damage caused by erosion related to D-W cycles.The study reveals the fluctuation behavior of rock strain and prestress loss under D-W conditions,providing a reference for effectively controlling anchoring loss and ideas for inventing new anchoring components. | Yu Zhao Huasu Wang Jing Bi Zhijun Wu Chaolin Wang Jiabao Ma | 2023 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2023,33,12: | 0 |
