| 1 | Insights into the swelling process and drug release mechanisms from cross-linked pectin/high amylose starch matrices显示文摘Cross-linked pectin/high amylose mixtures were evaluated as a new excipient for matrix tablets formulations, since the mixing of polymers and cross-linking reaction represent rational tools to reach materials with modulated and specific properties that meet specific therapeutic needs. Objective:In this work the influence of polymer ratio and cross-linking process on the swelling and the mechanism driving the drug release from swellable matrix tablets prepared with this excipient was investigated.Methods:Cross-linked samples were characterized by their micromeritic properties(size and shape, density, angle of repose and flow rate)and liquid uptake ability.Matrix tablets were evaluated according their physical properties and the drug release rates and mechanisms were also investigated.Results:Cross-linked samples demonstrated size homogeneity and irregular shape, with liquid uptake ability insensible to pH.Cross-linking process of samples allowed the control of drug release rates and the drug release mechanism was influenced by both polymer ratio and cross-linking process. The drug release of samples with minor proportion of pectin was driven by an anomalous transport and the increase of the pectin proportion contributed to the erosion of the matrix. Conclusion:The cross-linked mixtures of high amylose and pectin showed a suitable excipient for slowing the drug release rates. | Fernanda M.Carbinatto Ana Do´ris de Castro Raul C.Evangelista Beatriz S.F.Cury | 2014 | Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2014,9,1: | 1 |

| 10 | Water availability drives gradients of tree diversity, structure and functional traits in the Atlantic-Cerrado-Caatinga transition,Brazil显示文摘Aims Climate and soil are among the most important factors determin-ing variation in tree communities, but their effects have not been thoroughly elucidated to date for many vegetation features. In this study,we evaluate how climate and soil gradients affect gradients of vegetation composition, species diversity and dominance, structure and functional traits(seed mass and wood density)using over 327000 trees in 158 sites distributed along environmental gradients in the transitions among the Atlantic forest,Cerrado and Caatinga in Minas Gerais State(MG),Brazil(nearly 600000 km2).Methods Gradients in species, genus and family abundance in addition to basal area, stem density, species diversity(Fisher’s alpha),domin-ance percentage, seed mass and wood density were correlated using multiple regressions with environmental variables,as summarized in four principal component analysis axes(two climatic-precipi-tation seasonality and temperature range-and two edaphic-soil fertility and soil moisture).Additionally, ordinary kriging maps were used to better illustrate the gradients.Important Findings Multiple regression models indicate that all variables but domin-ance percentage were affected by one or more of the environmental gradients, but the average R2 was low(26.25%).Kriging maps rein-forced the patterns observed in the regression models.Precipitation seasonality and soil moisture gradients were the most important gra-dients affecting vegetation features. This finding suggests that water availability is an important determinant of vegetation features in these vegetation transitions. | Marcela de Castro Nunes Santos Terra Rubens Manoel dos Santos Jamir Afonso do Prado Júnior José Marcio de Mello José Roberto Soares Scolforo Marco Aurélio Leite Fontes Ivan Schiavini Aliny Aparecida dos Reis Inacio Thomaz Bueno Luiz Fernando Silva Magnago Hans ter Steege | 2018 | Journal of Plant Ecology2018,11,6: | 1 |

| 15 | Larvicidal Evaluation of Aedes aegypti and Antioxidant,Cytotoxic and Antimicrobial Potential of the Aqueous Acid Extract of Pseudoxandra cuspidata(ANNOACEAE).显示文摘The Anonnaceae family has 2,500 species and 135 genera, which has about 14 representatives of species in Brazil, including Pseudoxandra cuspidata. The objective of this research was to study the aqueous-acid extract of P. cuspidata, evaluatingits antioxidant, larvicidal, antimicrobial and cytotoxic potential. In the preliminary phytochemical analysis, there were positivity toorganicacids and alkaloids. Inhibitory Activity of EAA was 65% against DPPH. The AAE presented to A. Salina nauplii at LC50%of 600.79 μg/mL for a periodof 24 hours. In relation to larvicidal activity to Aedes aegypti intermediates, AAE presented the LC50%in 24 Hours of 475.91 ppm and 290.73 ppm in 48 Hours. Regarding the antimicrobial action, the EAA presented 50 mg/mL MIC forP. Aeruginosa and MBC at 100 mg/mL, and for S. aureus it presented MIC of 50 mg/mL and did not present MBC. This researchcharacterized the presence of alkaloids and organicacids present in the aqueousacid extract of P. cuspidata. The extract presentedlowtoxicity in relation to the microcrustacean A. salina. It also had a relevant antioxidant potential (65% of Inhibition),larvicidalaction considered effective, antimicrobialaction for both P. Aeruginosa and S. Aureus even did not present bactericidalaction. | Ranggel Carvalho Simões Rosany Lopes Martins Erica de Menezes Rabelo Alex Bruno Lobato Rodrigues Ana Luzia Ferreira Farias Patrick de Castro Cantuária Marlon de Oliveira do Nascimento Sheylla Susan Moreira da Silva de Almeida | 2021 | Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology2021,9,2: | 0 |
