3Hand self-Shiatsu for sleep problems in p ersons with chronic pain: a pilot study显示文摘OBJECTIVE: Difficulty falling asleep(sleep latency) and staying asleep(sleep maintenance) are common problems for persons living with pain. Research demonstrates that sleep problems are, in turn, related to exacerbation of chronic pain. There is a growing body of evidence for a range of pragmatic, non-pharmacological sleep interventions that can potentially be incorporated into pain management programs. This study looks at the outcome of teaching patients with musculoskeletal pain standardized pre-bedtime hand self-Shiatsu(HSS) to reduce sleep latency. METHODS: A case series design, with participants acting as their own controls, was selected to facilitate hypothesis generation for this novel, under-researched intervention. Sleep efficiency, latency and maintenance, sleep beliefs, pain intensity and basic participant demographics were collected at baseline with actigraphy and standardized self-report questionnaires. After one week of baseline data collection, the HSS intervention was taught to participants. Follow-up data were collected at 2 and 8 weeks post-intervention. RESULTS: Data collected at baseline and the two follow-up periods revealed no apparent changes in the objective actigraphy data. However a trend toward improved self-reported sleep latency(time to fall asleep) and sleep duration(time spent asleep) emerged. A number of participants reported they were more concerned with increasing their period of unbroken sleep as opposed to their total sleep time and it is possible that HSS may be useful to be applied during nighttime awakenings as well as before bed. None of the participants reported adverse effects of the intervention. 7角膜塑形术在弱视治疗中的临床应用显示文摘目的探讨远视治疗用角膜塑形镜对于屈光参差性弱视治疗的临床效果。研究背景:屈光参差性弱视是弱视常见的一种类型。0-5岁为弱视的高发群体,6岁之前为最佳治疗时期。如果没有在最佳治疗期内给予有效的矫正和治疗,将会对之后的视力发育情况产生严重的影响。对于屈光参差性弱视的治疗,临床常用方法为配戴框架眼镜矫正并配合弱视训练。弱视治疗用框架眼镜的验配原则为在患者能够接受的前提下尽量做到足矫。但由于两眼屈光度的较大差距,配戴框架眼镜即使单眼屈光不正得到矫正,两眼物像大小仍然不等,致使双眼物象缺乏融合,患者出现配戴不适感。配戴角膜接触镜可解决框架眼镜产生的物像不等,难以适应的问题。但对于两眼接触镜设计有较大差异,特别是对需要单眼戴镜的弱视患者而言,日戴角膜接触镜仍旧较难接受。因此更新的治疗方法应运而生。远视治疗用角膜塑形术近十年被推广应用于临床,其治疗使用的角膜塑形镜的内表面多弧设计区别于近视治疗用角膜塑形镜,即镜片中央治疗区给予角膜的塑形作用不是将角膜曲率变平坦而是变得更为陡峭,进而矫正了远视屈光不正。方法对2例单眼远视屈光度较大的屈光参差性弱视的患者夜戴远视治疗用角膜塑形镜后的弱视治疗情况进行分析讨论。结果此2例患者通过夜戴远视治疗用角膜塑形镜,病例一的矫正视力从初诊的20/60经过6个月的戴镜治疗,视力提高至接近20/20;病例二的矫正视力从初诊的20/60经过一年的戴镜治疗,逐步提高到20/20。从而使弱视得到了治愈。结论远视治疗用角膜塑形术对于青少年远视性屈光参差性弱视的治疗效果显著。但仍需大量的临床应用观察进一步支持论断。Cary M. 10Effect of rhizosphere on soil microbial community and in-situ pyrene biodegradation显示文摘To access the influence of a vegetation on soil microorganisms toward organic pollutant biogegration,this study examined the rhizospheric effects of four plant species(sudan grass,white clover,alfalfa,and fescue)on the soil microbial community and in-situ pyrene(PYR)biodegradation.The results indicated that the spiked PYR levels in soils decreased substantially compared to the control soil without planting.With equal planted densities,the efficiencies of PYR degradation in rhizosphere with sudan grass,white clover,alfalfa and fescue were 34.0%,28.4%,27.7%,and 9.9%,respectively.However,on the basis of equal root biomass the efficiencies were in order of white clover..alfalfa.sudan.fescue.The increased PYR biodegradation was attributed to the enhanced bacterial population and activity induced by plant roots in the rhizosphere.Soil microbial species and biomasses were elucidated in terms of microbial phospholipid ester-linked fatty acid(PLFA)biomarkers.The principal component analysis(PCA)revealed significant changes in PLFA pattern in planted and non-planted soils spiked with PYR.Total PLFAs in planted soils were all higher than those in non-planted soils.PLFA assemblages indicated that bacteria were the primary PYR degrading microorganisms,and that Gram-positive bacteria exhibited higher tolerance to PYR than Gram-negative bacteria did.Yuhong SU Xueyun YANG Cary T.CHIOU 2008Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2008,2,4:3

14Towards high strength cast Mg-RE based alloys:Phase diagrams and strengthening mechanisms显示文摘Mg-rare earth(RE)based systems provide several important commercial alloys and many alloy development opportunities for high strength applications,especially in aerospace and defense industries.The phase diagrams,microstructure,and strengthening mechanisms of these multicomponent systems are very complex and often not well understood in literature.We have calculated phase diagrams of important binary,ternary,and multicomponent RE-containing alloy systems,using CALPHAD(CALculation of PHAse Diagrams).Based on these phase diagrams,this paper offers a critical overview on phase equilibria and strengthening mechanisms in these alloy systems,including precipitation,long period stacking order(LPSO),and other intermetallic phases.This review also summarized several promising Mg-RE based cast alloys in comparison with commercial WE54 and WE43 alloys;and explored new strategies for future alloy development for high strength applications.It is pointed out that the combination of precipitation and LPSO phases can lead to superior strength and ductility in Mg-RE based cast alloys.The precipitates and LPSO phases can form a complex three-dimensional network that effectively impedes dislocation motion on the basal and non-basal planes.The LPSO phases can also prevent the coarsening of precipitates when they interact,thus providing good thermal stability at elevated temperatures.Future research is needed to determine how the combination of these two types of phases can be used in alloy design and industrial scale applications.Janet M.Meier Josh Caris Alan A.Luo 2022Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2022,10,6:2
