| 1 | Association among lifestyle, clinical examination, polymorphisms in CDH1 gene and Traditional Chinese Medicine syndrome differentiation of gastric cancer显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To explore the association among lifestyle,clinical examination,polymorphisms in CDH1 gene and Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)syndrome differentiation of gastric cancer(GC). METHODS:A hospital-based population of 387 GC patients was investigated in Jiangsu province.Relevant information regarding lifestyle and clinical examination were collected by a standard questionnaire.Four known single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)in CDH1 were investigated by polymerase chain reaction-ligation detection reaction methods.Statistical analysis was conducted by SPSS 16.0 software.RESULTS:The results showed that meal duration and the status of glutamic pyruvic transaminase were significantly associated with TCM syndrome differentiation of GC(both P<0.05).None of the four SNPs in the E-cadherin(CDH1)gene achieved significant differences in their distributions among the nine syndrome types of GC(both P>0.05).However,significant differences were observed in rs13689 genotype distributions between several pairs of syndrome types of GC,suggesting that rs13689 is correlated with the syndrome differentiation of GC.CONCLUSION:Integrated analysis of lifestyle,clinical examination and CDH1 gene polymorphisms can contribute to a better understanding of the GC syndrome types and may improve the efficacy of interventions by stratifying disease according to TCM criteria. | Junfeng Zhang Zhen Zhan Juan Wu Chunbing Zhang Yaping Yang Shujuan Tong Ruiping Wang Xuewen Yang Wei Dong | 2013 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2013,33,5: | 3 |

| 13 | Birth-and-death evolution of ribonuclease 9 genes in Cetartiodactyla显示文摘RNase9 plays a reproductive function and has been recognized as an important member of the ribonuclease(RNase)A superfamily,a gene family that is widely used as a model for molecular evolutionary studies.Here,we identified 178 RNase9 genes from 95 Cetartiodactyla species that represent all four lineages and 21 families of this clade.Unexpectedly,RNase9experienced an evolutionary scenario of“birth and death”in Ruminantia,and expression analyses showed that duplicated RNase9A and RNase9B genes are expressed in reproductive tissues(epididymis,vas deferens or prostate).This expression pattern combined with the estimate that these genes duplicated during the middle Eocene,a time when Ruminantia become a successful lineage,suggests that the RNase9 gene duplication might have been advantageous for promoting sperm motility and male fertility as an adaptation to climate seasonality changes of this period.In contrast,all RNase9 genes were lost in the Cetacean lineage,which might be associated with their high levels of prostatic lesions and lower reproductive rates as adaptations to a fully aquatic environment and a balance to the demands of ocean resources.This study reveals a complex and intriguing evolutionary history and functional divergence for RNase9 in Cetartiodactyla,providing new insights into the evolution of the RNaseA superfamily and molecular mechanisms for organismal adaptations to the environment. | Datian Lang Xiaoping Wang Chunbing Liu Weihang Geng David M.Irwin Shanyuan Chen Chunqing Li Li Yu Heng Xiao | 2023 | Science China(Life Sciences)2023,66,5: | 1 |

| 16 | Comparative study of gut microbiota from captive and confiscatedrescued wild pangolins显示文摘Pangolins are among the most critically endangered animals due to widespread poaching and worldwide trafficking. Captive breeding is considered to be one way to protect them and increase the sizes of their populations. However, comparative studies of captive and wild pangolins in the context of gut microbiota are rare. Here, the gut microbiome of captive and confiscated-rescued wild pangolins is compared, and the effects of different periods of captivity and captivity with and without antibiotic treatment are considered.We show that different diets and periods of captivity, as well as the application of antibiotic therapy, can alter gut community composition and abundance in pangolins. Compared to wild pangolins, captive pangolins have an increased capacity for chitin and cellulose/hemicellulose degradation, fatty acid metabolism, and short-chain fatty acid synthesis, but a reduced ability to metabolize exogenous substances. In addition to increasing the ability of the gut microbiota to metabolize nutrients in captivity, captive breeding imposes some risks for survival by resulting in a greater abundance of antibiotic resistance genes and virulence factors in captive pangolins than in wild pangolins. | 19 | Does College Location Affect the Location Choice of New College Graduates in China?显示文摘Based on a representative survey of new college graduates in China,we present a job location choice model that allows for a self-selection effect in college regions by considering region-dependent heterogeneous preference for job locations and unobservable location features.We also treat endogenous housing costs using the method developed by Berry et al.(1995).Our estimation results show that college education significantly increases graduates'likelihood of working in the city where their college is located.However,a model that does not consider the self-selection effect overestimates this impact.The impact of college location on a graduate's migration decision varies considerably across cities.There is significant heterogeneity between students from universities of dijferent tiers and rural versus urban areas.Meanwhile,the graduates show a marked home preference when choosing their job locations,and they tend to avoid working in cities with high housing costs.These findings shed light on debates on place-based higher education policies and spatial distribution of human capital with a high level of education. | Mian Huang Chunbing Xing Xiaoyong Cui | 2022 | China & World Economy2022,30,3: | 1 |
