First observation of tropospheric nitrogen dioxide from the Environmental Trace Gases Monitoring Instrument onboard the GaoFen-5 satellite显示文摘The Environmental Trace Gases Monitoring Instrument(EMI)is the first Chinese satellite-borne UV–Vis spectrometer aiming to measure the distribution of atmospheric trace gases on a global scale. The EMI instrument onboard the GaoFen-5 satellite was launched on 9 May 2018.In this paper,we present the tropospheric nitrogen dioxide(NO2)vertical column density(VCD)retrieval algorithm dedicated to EMI measurement. We report the first successful retrieval of tropospheric NO_(2) VCD from the EMI instrument. Our retrieval improved the original EMI NO_(2) prototype algorithm by modifying the settings of the spectral fit and air mass factor calculations to account for the on-orbit instrumental performance changes. The retrieved EMI NO_(2) VCDs generally show good spatiotemporal agreement with the satellite-borne Ozone Monitoring Instrument and TROPOspheric Monitoring Instrument(correlation coefficient R of ~0.9,bias<50%).A comparison with ground-based MAX-DOAS(Multi-Axis Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy)observations also shows good correlation with an R of 0.82.The results indicate that the EMI NO_(2) retrieval algorithm derives reliable and precise results, and this algorithm can feasibly produce stable operational products that can contribute to global air pollution monitoring.Chengxin Zhang Cheng Liu Ka Lok Chan Qihou Hu Haoran Liu Bo Li Chengzhi Xing Wei Tan Haijin Zhou Fuqi Si Jianguo Liu 2020Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1:11
Biogas charging and dissipating process and its accumulation in the Sebei gasfield,Qaidam Basin,China显示文摘The Sebei gasfield is the largest biogas accumulation found in China and many reservoirs and seal rocks superposed on a syndepositional anticline in Quaternary. The biogas charging and dissipating process and its distribution have been a research focus for many years. The authors suggest a diffusing and accumulating model for the biogas,as they find that the shallower the gas producer, the more methane in the biogas, and the lighter stable carbon isotope composition of methane.Based on the diffusing model, diffused biogas is quantitatively estimated for each potential sandy reservoir in the gasfield, and the gas charging quantity for the sandy reservoir is also calculated by the diffused gas quantity plus gas reserve in-place.A ratio of diffusing quantity to charging quantity is postulated to describe biogas accumulating state in a sandy reservoir,if the ratio is less than 0.6,the reservoir forms a good gas-pool and high-production layer in the gasfield, which often occurs in the reservoirs deeper than 900 m;if the ratio is greater than 0.6,a few gas accumulated in the reservoir, which frequently exists in the reservoirs shallower than 900 m.Therefore,a biogas accumulation model is built up as lateral direct charging from gas source for the sands deeper than 900 m and indirect charging from lower gas-bearing sands by diffusion at depth shallower than 900 m.With this charging and diffusion quantitative model, the authors conducted re-evaluation on each wildcat in the central area of the Qaidam Basin, and found many commercial biogas layers.JIN Qiang 1,CHENG FuQi 1,2 ,SU AiGuo 3 ,ZHU GuangYou 3 ,WANG Li 1 &CAO Qian 1 1 China University of Petroleum,Dongying,Shandong 257061,China 2 Geological Institute of Shengli Oilfield,SINOPEC,Dongying,Shandong 257015,China 3 Petroleum Exploration and Development Institute,PetroChina,Beijing 100083,China 2008Science China Earth Sciences2008,51,S1:2
Discriminating hydrocarbon generation potential of coaly source rocks and their contribution:a case study from the Upper Paleozoic of Bohai Bay Basin,China显示文摘Although various coaly source rocks widely developed in the Carboniferous-Permian(C-P)of the Bohai Bay Basin, their geochemical characteristics and hydrocarbon generation potential are poorly understood. This study aims to discriminate the contribution of hydrocarbon generation from different C-P coaly source rocks and clarify the differences within generated oils using organic geochemistry, organic petrology, and thermal simulation experiments. The coaly source rocks containt coal clarain and durain, carbonaceous shale, and shale deposited in deltaic and lagoonal environment. The results indicated that clarain, durain, and carbonaceous shale exhibited higher hydrogen index and liquid-gas hydrocarbon yields than lagoonal and deltaic shales, which was mainly associated with the concentrations of sporinite, cutinite, and hydrogen-rich collodetrinite.Aliphatic hydro-carbons originated firom coal and carbonaceous shale presented lower Ts/(Ts+Tm),Ga/17α(H)21β(H)-C_(30)hopane,18α(H)-oleanane/17α(H)21β(H)-C_(30)hopane ratios, and higher 17β3(H)21α(H)-C_(30)Morane/17α(H)21β(H)-C_(30)hopane than deltaic lagoonal shales.Parameters of aromatic hydrocarbons generated from five lithologies of coaly source rocks trended as clear group distribution,e.g.,clarain and durain showing lower MNR,DBT/Fluorene(F)ratios and higher DBF/F ratio than coaly shales. The distinct descending trend of hydrocarbon potential is obtained from clarain, durain, carbonaceous shale to lagoonal and deltaic shales, implying dominated the petroleum and natural gas supplement from coal and carbonaceous shale. The difference between aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons provides a significant contribution to analyze the generic relationship between coaly source rock and lacustrine shale. Our results illustrate the importance of coaly source rocks for the in-depth oil-gas exploration of the Bohai Bay Basin and understanding hydrocarbon generation potential of source rocks in coal bearing strata.Jinjun XU Da LOU Qiang JIN Lixin FU Fuqi CHENG Shuhui ZHOU Xiuhong WANG Chao LIANG Fulai LI 2021Frontiers of Earth Science2021,15,4:1
Differential structure of Ordovician karst zone and hydrocarbon enrichment in paleogeomorphic units in Tahe area,Tarim Basin,NW China显示文摘Based on a large number of drilling, logging, seismic and production data, the differential structures of karst zone and hydrocarbon distribution in different paleogeomorphic units of the Tahe area,Tarim Basin, are discussed by analyzing the karst drainages and flowing channels. The karst paleogeomorphy of Ordovician in Tahe area is composed of watershed, karst valley and karst basin. The watershed has epikarst zone of 57.8 m thick on average and vadose karst zone of 115.2 m thick on average with dense faults, fractures and medium-small fracture-caves,and 76.5%of wells in this area have cumulative production of more than 5×10^(4) t per well. The karst valleys have epikarst zone, vadose karst zone and runoff karst zone, with an average thickness of 14.6,26.4 and 132.6 m respectively. In the runoff karst zone, the caves of subsurface river are mostly filled by fine sediment, with a filling rate up to 86.8%,and 84.9%of wells in this area have cumulative production of less than 2×10^(4) t per well. The karst basin has no karst zone, but only fault-karst reservoirs in local fault zones, which are up to 600 m thick and closely developed within 1 km around faults.Different karst landforms have different water flowing pattern, forming different karst zone structures and resulting in differential distribution of oil and gas.The watershed has been on the direction of oil and gas migration,so medium-small sized connected fracture-caves in this area have high filling degree of oil and gas,and most wells in this area have high production. Most caves in subsurface river are filled due to strong sedimentation and transportation of the river,so the subsurface river sediment has low hydrocarbon abundance and more low production oil wells. The faults linking source rock are not only the water channels but also the oil-gas migration pathways, where the karst fractures and caves provide huge reservoir space for oil and gas accumulation.ZHANG San JIN Qjang HU Mingyi HAN Qichao SUN Jianfang CHENG Fuqi ZHANG Xudong 2021Petroleum Exploration and Development2021,48,5:0
Formation of hoodoo-upland on Ordovician karst slope and its significance in petroleum geology in Tahe area,Tarim Basin,NW China显示文摘Based on a large number of geological and geophysical data, the formation,fracture-caves types and hydrocarbon distribution of hoodoo-upland on the Ordovician karst slope in the Tahe area,Tarim Basin, are discussed by analyzing faults and strata thickness. The hoodoo-upland was made of high peaks and narrow valleys in the Ordovician karst slope during the Early Hercynian karst period, which were distributed along the NNE positive flower structure and had inherited evolution. The fault-fractures and fracture-vugs complex were extremely developed, with a thickness of 100 m.The cumulative oil production of 60% oil wells was more than 20×10^(4) t per well in the hoodoo-upland,where the residual thickness of the Ordovician Yingshan Formation was greater than karst depressions.Caves formed by the shelter of collapsed breccias were developed in the valleys. They were 1.6 to 13.5 m high, with a filling rate of 51.6%.The positive flower structure under the settings of strike-slip compression controlled the early formation of the hoodoo-upland on the karst slope, resulting in the differences of drainage distribution and karstification.Compared with the water-rich karst valley, the hoodoo-upland with lean water suffered weaker karstification, had thicker residual stratum, and was higher in terrain. In rainy season, the meteoric water flew and corrode along the cracks, forming a complex network of fractures and caves.Combined with inherited uplift and the effective match of the NNE deep faults, oil and gas continuously charged into the reservoir space in the upland, forming the hoodoo fracture-cave reservoir with vertically quasi continuous distribution, high hydrocarbon abundance and high production.ZHANG San JIN Qiang SUN Jianfang WEI Hehua CHENG Fuqi ZHANG Xudong 2021Petroleum Exploration and Development2021,48,2:0
