| 1 | Stir casting process for manufacture of Al-SiC composites显示文摘Stir casting is an economical process for the fabrication of aluminum matrix composites.There are many parameters in this process,which affect the final microstructure and mechanical properties of the composites.In this study,micron-sized SiC particles were used as reinforcement to fabricate Al-3 wt% SiC composites at two casting temperatures(680 and 850 ℃) and stirring periods(2 and 6 min).Factors of reaction at matrix/ceramic interface,porosity,ceramic incorporation,and agglomeration of the particles were evaluated by scanning electron microscope(SEM) and high-resolution transition electron microscope(HRTEM) studies.From microstructural characterizations,it is concluded that the shorter stirring period is required for ceramic incorporation to achieve metal/ceramic bonding at the interface.The higher stirring temperature(850 ℃) also leads to improved ceramic incorporation.In some cases,shrinkage porosity and intensive formation of Al_4C_3 at the metal/ceramic interface are also observed.Finally,the mechanical properties of the composites were evaluated,and their relation with the corresponding microstructure and processing parameters of the composites was discussed. | Shahin Soltani Rasoul Azari Khosroshahi Reza Taherzadeh Mousavian Zheng-Yi Jiang Alireza Fadavi Boostani Dermot Brabazon | 2017 | Rare Metals2017，36，7： | 7 |
| 2 | Microstructure and mechanical properties of A356 thixoformed alloys in comparison with gravity cast ones using new criterion显示文摘The effect of thixoforming process on morphologies of silicon particles that affect fracture mode of A356 alloy was investigated.Microstructure and fracture surfaces of thixoformed samples were investigated by image analyzing technique and scanning electron microscopy.A new combination parameter, called silicon density ratio (SDR) index, was introduced.SDR index approximates the collective effects of morphological characteristics of silicon particles on microstructure transparency of alloy in crossing the dislocation.It is suggested that samples with lower SDR index have superior mechanical properties, especially elongation, and consequently intergranular fracture mode.On the contrary, samples with higher SDR index have inferior mechanical properties and fracture path tends to propagate along the cell boundaries leading to transgranular fracture. | A.FADAVI BOOSTANI S.TAHAMTAN | 2010 | Transactions of Nonferrous Metals Society of China2010，20，9： | 4 |
| 3 | Microstructural characteristics of thixoforged A356 alloy in mushy state显示文摘Tensile properties of a thixoforged A356 alloy were measured and compared with those of rheocast and gravity cast alloys with the same composition.In the thixoforging process,A356 rheocast alloy produced by stirring method was reheated to 600 °C or 610 °C,held for 10 min,and then 50% deformation was applied.Microstructure,tensile properties and fracture surfaces of produced specimens were then investigated.Results obtained show that tensile strength,yield strength and elongation-to-failure of thixoforged samples formed at lower temperature are higher than those of samples formed at higher temperature.By increasing temperature,in the case of thixoforged samples,tensile fracture path is changed from trans-primary alpha phase to inter-primary alpha phase.Differences observed in the tensile fracture path and improvement in the mechanical properties due to thixoforging process is attributed to microstructural changes as well as morphological aspects of silicon phase. | S.TAHAMTAN A.FADAVI BOOSTANI | 2010 | 中国有色金属学会会刊:英文版2010，20，S3： | 4 |
