1An analysis of 10218 ulcerative colitis cases in China显示文摘AIM: To analyze the characteristics of ulcerative colitis(UC)in Chine.METHODS: From 1981 to 2000, a total of 10218 patients of UCreported in Chinese medical literature and including ourcases diagnosed were analyzed according to the diagnosticcriteria of Lennard-Jones.RESULTS: The number of cases increased by 3.08 times overthe past 10 years (2506 patients were diagnosed from 1981 to1990 while 7512 patients were diagnosed from 1991 to 2000).Lesion renge were described in 7966 patients, 5592 (70.20%)were proctosigmoiditis or proctitis, 1792(22.50%) left-sidedcolitis, 582(7.30%) pancolitis. Among the 8122 patients,2826 (34.8%) had first episole, 4272 (52.6%) had chronicrelapse, 869 (10.7%) were of chronic persist type, 154(1.9%) were of acuts fulminant tyle. The course of theillress were described in 5867 patients, 4427(75.5%) wereless than 5 years, 910 (15.5%) between 5 and 10 years, 530(9.1%) more then 10 years. Six hundred and sixteenpatients patients (6.1% ) had extraintestinal manifestations.The mean age at the diagnosis was 40.7 years( range 6-8 years, and the peak ages 30-49 years). The male to femaleratio was1.09. Among 270 patients diagnosed in ourhospital, 36 had histories of smoking, there was no negativeassociation between the severity of UC and smoking ( P >0.05), 21 smokers were followed up for one year, 15 of themhad given up smoking when the disease were diagnosed,and one year later, 7 patients relapsed, another 6 patientscontinued smoking, and one year later, 2 patients relapsed.Among 270 UC patients diagnosed in our hospital, 4 patients(1.48%) from 2 families had familial history of UC.Treatment was mentioned in 6859 patients, only SASP and/or corticosteroid only in 1276 patients(18.6%), only Chineseherbs in 1377 patients (20.1%), combined Chinese andwestern medicine in 4056 patients (59.1%), surgery wasperformed in 87 patients (1.3%), other treatments in 63patients(0.9%).CONCLUSIONS: In China, number of UC patients increasedsignificantly in the past 10 years. Lesions are commonlylocated to left side colon. The course is short with rereextraintestinal manifestations. The age of onset is relativelyhigh. Males and females are nearly equally affected. Nonegative relation was found between smoking and severityof the disease. 2MICROWAVE-ASSISTED EXTRACTION OF GLYCYRRHIZIC ACID FROM LICORICE ROOT-EFFECT OF THE PROPERTY OF SOLUTION ON EXTRACTION OF GA显示文摘The property of extraction solution is an important factor influencing the extraction efficiency. In the present work, the effect of the property of solution on extraction of GA was studied, which including the concentration of ethanol, ammonia and cation (M+), pH of extraction solution, different kinds of organic solvent etc. The results show that 50%-60%(v/v) ethanol can reach high percentage extraction of GA. If 1% (v/v) ammonia solution was added into 60%(v/v) ethanol, the percentage extraction can be increased from 2.0% to 2.31%. Without ammonia, 50mmol/L [M+] (M+ = K+, NH4+) was added into 60%(v/v) ethanol, percentage extraction of GA can reach about 2.26%. If pH of solution (60% ethanol) was adjust to pH=4.0, it can reach high percentage extraction. 3Desulfurization metabolite of Rhodococcus erythropolis LSSE8-1 and its related desulfurizational gene fragments显示文摘Rhodococcus erythropolis LSSE8-1 is a newly isolated biodesulfurizaion strain from the soil of Chishui gas field, Guizhou Province, China. The analysis of its metabo-lism product shows that the strain is a kind of biocatalyst able to oxidize dibenzothiophene (DBT) to 2-hydroxydi- phenyl (HBP), and therefore the sulfur in DBT is selectively removed. By using DBTO2 (dibenzothiophene 5,5-dioxide) as substrate, both DBT and HBP are found in the culture, which shows that the reaction from DBT to DBTO2 is re-versible in the cell. While using 0.5 mmol/L DBT as control, 0.01—0.4 mmol/L DBTO2 shows poisonous effect to the cell, which will explain why there is no DBTO2 accumulation in the process of biodesulfurization. After treatment by lysozme, the plasmid DNA of the strain is isolated by alkaline method to be used as the template of PCR reaction. Three dsz gene fragments of 1.3, 1.0 and 1.2 kb respectively were amplified. Each fragment is ligate with PGEM-T vector, and cloned into E. coli. DH5. The clone DNA is sequenced and the result shows that dsz related genes are highly conservative. 4In-situ Synthesis of ZSM-5 Zeolite from Metakaolin/Spinel and Its Catalytic Performance on Methanol Conversion显示文摘ZSM-5 zeolite was in-situ synthesized from metakaolin or spinel by incorporating additional silica and alumina sources,respectively.The ZSM-5 zeolite was characterized by X-ray diffractometry(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),Fourier transform infrared(FT-1R) spectroscopy and N_2 adsorption measurement. This supported zeolite was tested on the methanol to propylene(MTP) processes.Experimental results showed that the ZSM-5 zeolite exhibited high selectivity for propylene.The yield of propylene on ZSM-5 zeolite made from metakaolin was increased by 17.73%,while that on ZSM-5 zeolite made from spinel was raised by 9.90%,compared to that achieved with the commercial ZSM-5 zeolite.The significant increase in propylene production is probably due to the distinctive morphology of the ZSM-5 zeolite,which possessed a rough external surface covered with sphere-like particles and distribution of small crystals sized at around 400—500 nm.This morphology could help to generate more crystal defects so that more active centers could be exposed to the reaction mixture.In addition,the zeolite product had a gradient pore distribution and many medium Bronsted acid sites,both of which might also contribute to the increased propylene production.Liu Ye Yu Xianbo Qin Lei Wang Jingdai Yang Yongrong (Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering,Zhejiang University,Hangzhou 310027) 2010China Petroleum Processing & Petrochemical Technology2010,12,1:4
5CONTROL OF POLYMER PARTICLE SIZE USING POROUS GLASS MEMBRANE EMULSIFICATION A REVIEW显示文摘Much attention has in recent years been paid to fine applications of polymer particles, e.g., carrier for enzyme, separation media for protein, DNA and cell, and carrier for drug in Drug Delivery System (DDS). Control of polymer particle size is especially important in such fine applications. For instance, when the particles are used as a carrier of anti-cancer agents, the locations of particles containing anti-cancer agents also depend on the size of the particles. 6Studies on the structure and catalytic performance of S and P promoted Na-W-Mn-Zr/SiO_2 catalyst for oxidative coupling of methane显示文摘A series of Na-W-Mn-Zr/SiO2 catalysts promoted by different contents of S or/and P were prepared and their catalytic performance for oxidative coupling of methane was investigated to clarify the effect of S and P on the Na-W-Mn-Zr/SiO2 catalyst. The catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). From the characterization results, it is found that the addition of S and P to the Na-W-Mn-Zr/SiO2 catalyst helps the formation of active phases, such as α-cristobalite, Na2WO4, ZrO2, and Na2SO4. Moreover, the addition of S and P increases the concentration of surface-active oxygen species by improving the migration of active components from the bulk phase to the surface of the catalyst. According to the activity test, impressive methane conversion and C2 hydrocarbons yield were obtained at a low temperature of 1023 K over the six-component Na-W-Mn-Zr-S-P/SiO2 catalyst, which contained 2 wt% S and 0.4 wt% P simultaneously. 7APOPTOSIS AND TAXOL PRODUCTION IN SUSPENSION CULTURES OF Taxus spp.CELLS显示文摘The hallmark of apoptosis, in suspension cultures of Taxus spp. cells induced by fungal extractive or by abiotic means, was studied by total DNA agarose gel electrophoresis and in situ end-labeling. The cleavage of nuclear DNA (nDNA) into oligonucleosomal fragments(DNA laddering) was a characteristic of apoptosis, which involved cell shrinkage, condensation of cytoplasm and tracheary elements differentiation. Terminal deoxynucleotidy transferase-mediated dUTP nick end in situ labeling (TUNEL) assay of Taxus spp. cells showed that fungal extractive or abiotic elicltors (Ce4+, Taxol, H2O2) induced TUNEL positive. Also, the increase of the apoptotic cell ratio was accompanied by the increase of secondary metabolites (especially Taxol). These results suggest that apoptosis may have some coincidence with biosynthesis of Taxol. 8Selenium and Iodine Deficiencies and Selenoprotein Function显示文摘This paper reviews some recent findings on the interactions between selenium deficiency and iodine deficency. Both micronutrients can control the levels of selenoprotein mRNAs, particularly in the thyroid and brain. When selenium and iodine supplies are limiting the compensatory mechanisms work to minimise adverse effects on thyroid hormone metabolsm and thus neurological developtnent. The mechanisms for regulation of selenoproteins in selenium and iodine deficiency are however very tissue-specific. For example, unlike the brain and thyroid,brown adipose tissue is unable to retain selenoproteins in selenium and iodine deficiency and is therefore at greater risk from injurious effects of the deficiencies.JOHN R. 9Chiral separation of racemic drugs using molecular imprinting显示文摘Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) of (S)-ketoprofen and (S)-naproxen are prepared using non-covalent imprinting in the presence of template molecules. The prepared MIPs are used as the chiral stationary phase to separate ramemic naproxen and ketoprofen. The results show that racemic naproxen and ketoprofen are efficiently resolved on MIPs. The effect of concentration of acetic acid in the mobile phase is studied, and the data are analyzed using the affinity chromatography model, and the close agreement is achieved between the simulated and experimental curves. The results suggest that the affinity chromatography mechanism controls the retention in this system. 11Disuccinimidyl suberate cross-linked hemoglobin as a novel red blood cell substitute显示文摘Disuccinimidyl suberate (DSS) intramolecularly cross-linked hemoglobin (Hb) was developed as a novel red blood cell substitute. A multi-angle laser light scattering detector coupled with size exclusion HPLC was applied to determine the molecular weight of the modified Hb. SDS-PAGE was also used as a complement. It was proved that 83.8% of the product was intramolecularly cross-linked Hb with weight-average molecular weights (Mw) of 67.5 kD, 12% was dimeric Hb with Mw of 146.6 kD, and 4.2% was trimeric Hb with Mw of 306.4 kD. The tetramer structure of the cross-linked Hb was stable as shown in size-exclusion chromatography using a mobile phase containing 1 mol/L MgCl2. Analysis by LC-MS demonstrated that the reaction of DSS with Hb mainly took place between the twoα subunits within a Hb molecule, resulting in stabilization of the tetramer structure. However, the cross-linking was not site-specific. The P50 of the cross-linked Hb decreased from 21.8 mmHg to 14.3 mmHg, and the Hill coefficient decreased from 2.22 to 1.41. Result of isoelectric focusing showed that the pI of DSS cross-linked Hb was in the range of 4.6-5.2, similar to that of serum albumin. The safety of DSS cross-linked Hb was favored by animal tests on rats and guinea pigs. Exchange transfusion experiment with DSS cross-linked Hb using rats as a model indicated no pressor effect or other significant side effects.
