1Evaluation of Chlorophyll Content and Fluorescence Parameters as Indicators of Drought Tolerance in Barley显示文摘Drought is a major abiotic stress that severely affects food production worldwide. Agronomic and physiological traits associated with drought tolerance are suitable indicators for selection of drought tolerance genotypes to reduce the impact of water deficit on crop yield in breeding program. The objective of this study was to identify indicators related to drought tolerance through analysis of photosynthetic traits in barley (Hordeum vulgare L.). These traits included chlorophyll content, initial fluorescence (Fo), maximum primary yield of photochemistry of photosystem Ⅱ (Fv / Fo) and maximum quantum yield of photosystem II (Fv / Fm). Four genotypes (Tadmor, Arta, Morocco9-75 and WI2291) variable in drought tolerance were used to investigate the correlation between these traits and drought tolerance. The results reflected that all of these traits were affected negatively in the four genotypes at different levels of post-anthesis drought stress, but the decrease in drought tolerant genotypes was much less than that of drought sensitive genotypes. The results further revealed that the components of the photosynthetic apparatus could be damaged significantly in drought sensitive genotypes, while drought tolerant genotypes were relatively less affected. On the other hand, the values of chlorophyll content, Fo, Fv / Fo and Fv / Fm in drought tolerance genotypes were significantly higher than those in drought sensitive genotypes under drought stress. 2应用SSR标记对61个国家大麦遗传多样性的研究显示文摘使用全自动基因分析仪(ABI-3700 DNA Analyzer),用35对SSR荧光标记引物对来自61个国家的2625份大麦种质资源的遗传多样性进行了分析,得出如下结果:(1)35对引物在2625份大麦种质资源中共检测到2063个等位变异,每个位点的等位变异数为30~79个,平均为58.94;多样性指数为1.60~3.66,平均为2.80;(2)在大麦的7条染色体中,每条染色体的等位变异数不等,染色体等位变异数从多到少排序为5、7、2、6、3、4、1,遗传多样性指数从高到低依次为2、6、7、3、5、4、1,综合这两项指标,第2、7条染色体遗传多样性较高,第1条染色体的遗传多样性最低;(3)约旦、伊朗、叙利亚和利比亚等国家大麦的遗传多样性指数最高,分别为2.58、2.53、2.50和2.38;而埃塞俄比亚、叙利亚、伊朗和约旦等国家的大麦资源则具有较多的等位变异,分别为29.03、25.57、25.11和24.60,综合分析,约旦、伊朗、叙利亚和土耳其大麦遗传多样性较高。张赤红 张京 赵会英 张云霞 李珍 Michael Baum 2008植物遗传资源学报2008,9,1:33
3Cartilage repair techniques of the talus: An update显示文摘Symptomatic chondral or osteochondral defects of the talus reduce the quality of life of many patients.Although their pathomechanism is well understood,it is well known that different aetiologic factors play a role in their origin.Additionally,it is well recognised that the talar articular cartilage strongly differs from that in the knee.Despite this fact,many recommendations for the management of talar cartilage defects are based on approaches that were developed for the knee.Conservative treatment seems to work best in paediatric and adolescent patients with osteochondritis dissecans.However,depending on the size of the lesions,surgical approaches are necessary to treat many of these defects.Bone marrow stimulation techniques may achieve good results in small lesions.Large lesions may be treated by open procedures such as osteochondral autograft transfer or allograft transplantation.Autologous chondrocyte transplantation,as a restorative procedure,is well investigated in the knee and has been applied in the talus with increasing popularity and promising results but the evidence to date is poor.The goals of the current article are to summarise the different options for treating chondral and osteochondral defects of the talus and review the available literature.Mike H Baums Wolfgang Schultz Tanja Kostuj Hans-Michael Klinger 2014World Journal of Orthopedics2014,5,3:11
4Association between serum vitamin D levels and gastric cancer:A retrospective chart analysis显示文摘AIM To determine whether there is an increased risk of gastric adenocarcinoma associated with vitamin D deficiency(VDd).METHODS A retrospective case control study was performed of all patients diagnosed with gastric adenocarcinoma between 2005 and 2015.After we excluded the patients without a documented vitamin D level,49 patients were included in our study.RESULTS The average age of patients with gastric adenocarcinoma and documented vitamin D level was 64 years old(95%CI: 27-86) and average vitamin D level was 20.8 mg/d L(95%CI: 4-44).Compared to a matched control group,the prevalence of VDd/insufficiency in patients with gastric adenocarcinoma was significantly higher than normal vitamin D levels(83.7% vs 16.3%).Forty-one patients(83.7%) with adenocarcinoma showed VDd/insufficiency compared to 18(37%) patients with normal vitamin D level without gastric cancer(OR: 8.8,95%CI: 5-22,P value < 0.0001).The average age of males with gastric adenocarcinoma diagnosis was 60 years old vs 68 years old for females(P = 0.01).StageⅡ gastric adenocarcinoma was the most prevalent in our study(37%).CONCLUSION We reported a positive relationship between VDd and gastric adenocarcinoma,that is to say,patients with decreased VDd levels have an increased propensity for gastric adenocarcinoma.Neil Vyas Rafael Ching Companioni Melik Tiba Hassan Alkhawam Carmine Catalano Robert Sogomonian Joel Baum Aaron Walfish 2016World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology2016,8,9:10

6非肥胖型糖尿病小鼠唾液流率、颌下腺造影及病理研究显示文摘目的 :研究非肥胖型糖尿病小鼠 (nonobesediabeticmouse ,NOD)唾液总流率 ;颌下腺造影及病理表现。材料及方法 :本研究将 5 6只NOD小鼠分 9周、16周、2 0周及 2 4周 4个不同年龄组测定其唾液总流率 ,颌下腺造影及颌下腺病理学研究 ,用 32只Balb/c小鼠分同样年龄组进行对照。结果 :NOD小鼠唾液总流率随年龄增大而下降 ,Balb/c小鼠则变化不大。 2 0周以后NOD小鼠颌下腺造影有造影剂外溢 ,排空功能明显迟缓。 9周NOD小鼠颌下腺见淋巴细胞浸润 ,随年龄增长 ,淋巴细胞浸润加重。结论 :NOD小鼠涎腺的形态及功能均明显受累 ,与人类SS表现类似。王松灵 Bruce Baum Di Sun Jane Atkinson 2002北京口腔医学2002,10,2:6
7Molecular phylogeny of Solms-laubachia(Brassicaceae) s.l.,based on multiple nuclear and plastid DNA sequences,and its biogeographic implications显示文摘The Hengduan Mountains region of south-west China is a noted biodiversity hotspot,but the geographic origins and historical assembly of its rich endemic flora,including the sky-island species of Solms-laubachia Muschl.(Brassicaceae),have been little studied.Previous molecular studies on the phylogeny of Solms-laubachia showed it to be paraphyletic,leading to considerable expansion not only of its taxonomic limits,but also its geographic range,with the inclusion of taxa from outside the Hengduan region.However,these studies provided little resolution of interspecific relationships,preventing inferences about historical biogeography within the clade.In the present study,new sequence data from two nuclear genes(LEAFY and G3pdh) and two chloroplast intergenic spacers(petN-psbM and psbM-trnD) were combined with existing markers to increase phylogenetic signals.Phaeonychium villosum(Maxim.) Al-Shehbaz was found to be nested within Solms-laubachia s.l.In general,phylogenetic relationships appear to be a good predictor of geography,with the Hengduan Mountain endemics embedded in a paraphyletic grade of species from the western Himalayas and central Asia,but they also imply morphological homoplasy.Incongruence was detected between the nuclear and chloroplast gene trees,perhaps resulting from incomplete lineage sorting of ancestral polymorphisms.The crown age of Solms-laubachia s.l.was estimated to be approximately 1.42-3.68 mya,using Bayesian relaxed molecular clock analysis.Historical biogeographic analysis using a parametric dispersal-extinction-cladogenesis model inferred central Asia and the western Himalayas as most probable ancestral range of Solms-laubachia s.l.,and estimated higher rates of eastward expansion than westward during the diversification of descendant lineages.In summary,our results suggest that Solms-laubachia s.l.originated during the Pliocene in central Asia,and subsequently migrated eastward into the Hengduan Mountains,colonizing sky-island,alpine scree-slope habitats that may have provided novel ecological opportunity and accelerated speciation,ultimately establishing this region as the present center of diversity of the genus.Ji-Pei YUE Hang SUN David A. 9Genetic Diversity and Association Analysis for Salinity Tolerance, Heading Date and Plant Height of Barley Germplasm Using Simple Sequence Repeat Markers显示文摘The objective of this study was to investigate the genetic diversity of barley accessions. Additionally, association trait analysis was conducted for grain yield under salinity, heading date and plant height. For this purpose, 48 barley genotypes were analyzed with 22 microsatellite simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers. Four of the 22 markers (Bmac316, scssr03907, HVM67 and Bmag770) were able to differentiate all barley genotypes. Cluster and principal coordinate analysis allowed a clear grouping between countries from the same region. The genotypes used in this study have been evaluated for agronomic performance in different environments. Conducting association analysis for grain yield under salinity conditions using TASSEL software revealed a close association of the marker Bmag749 (2H, bin 13) in two different environments with common significant alleles (175, 177), whereas the HVHOTR1 marker (2H, bin 3) was only significant in Sakhar_Egypt with alleles size being 158 and 161. Heading date also showed an association with scssr03907 through the common significant specific allele 111 and EBmac0415 markers in three different agro climatic locations, whereas HVCMA, scssr00103 and HVM67 were linked to heading date in the Egyptian environment only. 10Molecular Characterization of Atlas 66-Derived Wheat Near-lsogenic Lines Contrasting in Aluminum(Al)Tolerance显示文摘Aluminum (Al) toxicity is the major limiting factor for wheat growth in acidic soils. Genetic improvement of Al tolerance is one of the most cost-effective solutions to improve wheat productivity. The objective of this study was to characterize near isogenic lines (NILs) contrasting in Al tolerance derived from Atlas 66 in the backgrounds of Al-sensitive cultivars Chisholm and Century using amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) and simple sequence repeat (SSR). A total of 200 AFLP and 88 SSR primer pairs were screened and 12 markers (11 AFLPs and one SSR) were associated with Al tolerance in NILs of at least one recurrent parental background. Among them, nine were linked to Al tolerance in the Chisholm-derived NILs, seven were associated with Al-tolerance in the Century-derived NILs, and three AFLPs derived from the primer combinations of pAG/mGCAG, pCAG/mAGC and pGTG/mGCG, and one SSR, Xwmc331 on chromosome 4D, associated with Al tolerance in NILs of both recurrent parental backgrounds. Those common markers across two backgrounds may be the major marker loci associated with Al-tolerance in Atlas 66 and could be useful for marker-assisted breeding to improve Al tolerance in wheat. 13More than anti-malarial agents: therapeutic potential of artemisinins in neurodegeneration显示文摘Artemisinin,also called qinghaosu,is originally derived from the sweet wormwood plant(Artemisia annua),which is used in traditional Chinese medicine.Artemisinin and its derivatives(artemisinins)have been widely used for many years as anti-malarial agents,with few adverse side effects.Interestingly,evidence has recently shown that artemisinins might have a therapeutic value for several other diseases beyond malaria,including cancers,inflammatory diseases,and autoimmune disorders.Neurodegeneration is a challenging age-associated neurological disorder characterized by deterioration of neuronal structures as well as functions,whereas neuroinflammation has been considered to be an underlying factor in the development of various neurodegenerative disorders,including Alzheimer’s disease.Recently discovered properties of artemisinins suggested that they might be used to treat neurodegenerative disorders by decreasing oxidation,inflammation,and amyloid beta protein(Aβ).In this review,we will introduce artemisinins and highlight the possible mechanisms of their neuroprotective activities,suggesting that artemisinins might have therapeutic potential in neurodegenerative disorders.Bing-Wen Lu Larry Baum Kwok-Fai So Kin Chiu Li-Ke Xie 2019Neural Regeneration Research2019,14,9:4
14Synopsis of Leymus Hochst.(Triticeae:Poaceae)显示文摘Leymus is a genus in the Triticeae tribe, Poaceae. The taxa of this genus are allopolyploid species which possess the Ns and Xm genomes. According to cytological, cytogenetic and molecular genetic analyses, some species of Hystrix and Elymus ought to be transferred to this genus. A world revision of the genus Leymus is needed. In this paper we summarize experimental results, provide a key to sections, species and varieties, and list all the taxa we recognize in Leymus with their synonyms. 17A taxonomic synopsis of the genus Campeiostachys Drobov显示文摘We have classified 11 species recently recognized as belonging to the genus Elymus into a resurrected and legitimate genus Campeiostachys Drobov according to the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature. Our action is based on the rationale of monophyly, discrimination, and practicality discussed in detail. Currently Elymus contains a vast number of species with different genomes which often, but not always, can be differentiated by cytological and molecular features, but are difficult to separate by traditional morphology, although an effort to do so is detailed and discussed. This difficulty can be attributed to the dominance effect of a particular genome on the other genome(s) present. Campeiostachys, with genome constitution StStHHYY, is a recent addition to a number of genera recently segregated out of Elymus, i.e. Douglasdeweya (StStPP), Kengyilia (StStPPYY), and Roegneria (StStYY, StStStStYY). A key to Campeiostachys taxa is provided, along with taxa descriptions, distribution, nomenclature, and cytology. Nineteen nomenclatural novelties, or combinations, resulted from this work, 10 species names, and nine varietal names.Bemard R. 19Quantum model simulations of attosecond electron diffraction显示文摘Ultrafast diffraction with free attosecond electron pulses promises insight into the four-dimensional motion of charge density inatoms,molecules and condensed matter. Here we consider the quantum dynamics of the electron-electron scattering process on anattosecond time scale. By numerically solving the time-dependent two-electron Schrdinger equation,we investigate the interactionof an incoming keV-range electron wavepacket by the bound electron of an aligned H+2 molecule,using a one-dimensional model.Our findings reveal the ratio of elastic to inelastic contributions,the role of exchange interaction,and the influence of the molecularelectron density to diffraction. Momentum transfer during the scattering process,from the incoming to the bound electron mediatedby the nuclei,leaves the bound electron in a state of coherent oscillation with attosecond recurrences. Entanglement causes relatedstate-selective oscillations in the phase shift of the scattered electron. Two scenarios of distinguishable and indistinguishable freeand bound electrons yield equivalent results,irrespective of the electronic spins. This suggests to employ the scenario of distinguishable electrons,which is computationally less demanding.
