1Reliability estimation of rotary lip seal in aircraft utility system based on time-varying dependence degradation model and its experimental validation显示文摘With several attractive properties, rotary lip seals are widely used in aircraft utility system, and their reliability estimation has drawn more and more attention. This work proposes a reliability estimation approach based on time-varying dependence analysis. The dependence between the two performance indicators of rotary lip seals, namely leakage rate and friction torque, is modeled by time-varying copula function with polynomial to denote the time-varying parameters, and an efficient copula selection approach is utilized to select the optimal copula function. Parameter estimation is carried out based on a Bayesian method and the reliability during the whole lifetime is calculated based on a Monte Carlo method. Degradation test for rotary lip seal is conducted and the proposed model is validated by test data. The optimal copula function and optimal order of polynomial are determined based on test data. 3User-centered development and performance assessment of a modular full-body exoskeleton (AXO-SUIT)显示文摘This paper presents the design and preliminary performance assessment of a full-body assistive exoskeleton(AXO-SUIT)for older adults.AXO-SUIT is a system that consists of separate lower-body and upper-body modular exoskeletons,which can be combined to form a full-body system to provide flexible physical assistance as needed.The full-body exoskeleton comprises 27 degrees of freedom(dof),of which 17 are passive and 10 active.It can assist people in walking,standing,carrying and handling tasks.A user-centered design approach was adopted throughout the development of the exoskeleton.This paper describes the design process of AXOSUIT,involving a review of user needs,a kinematic and kinetic motion study,and innovative system design.Tests with the developed systems were conducted on selected end-user subjects,covering both performance evaluations at different levels and useability testing.End-user testing results show the effectiveness of the exoskeleton in providing flexible physical assistance.Shaoping Bai M.R.Islam Valerie Power Leonard OŚullivan 2022Biomimetic Intelligence & Robotics2022,2,2:1

14Hybrid Active–Passive Prosthetic Knee:A Gait Kinematics and Muscle Activity Comparison with Mechanical and Microprocessor-Controlled Passive Prostheses显示文摘Existing microprocessor-controlled passive prosthetic knees(PaPKs)and active prosthetic knees(AcPKs)cannot truly simulate the muscle activity characteristics of the active–passive hybrid action of the knee during the normal gait.Differences in EMG between normal and different prosthetic gait for different phases were never separately analyzed.In this study,a novel hybrid active–passive prosthetic knee(HAPK)is proposed and if and how muscle activity and kinematics changes in different prosthetic gait are analyzed.The hybrid hydraulic-motor actuator is adopted to fully integrate the advantages of hydraulic compliance damping and motor efficiency,and the hierarchical control strategy is adopted to realize the adaptive predictive control of the HAPK.The kinematic data and EMG data of normal gait and different prosthetic gait were compared by experiments,so as to analyze the changes in the muscle activity and spatio-temporal data per phase compared to normal walking and the adaptations of amputees when walking with a different kind of prosthesis(the mechanical prosthesis(MePK),the PaPK and the HAPK).The results show that changes in prosthetic gait mainly consisted of decreased self-selected walking speed,gait symmetry and maximum knee flexion,increased first double support phase duration,muscle activation in both opposed and prosthetic limb and inter-subject variability.The differences between controls and MePK,PaPK and HAPK decreases sequentially.These results indicate that the hybrid active–passive actuating mode can have positive effects on improving the approximation of healthy gait characteristics.Xiaoming Wang Qiaoling Meng Shaoping Bai Qingyun Meng Hongliu Yu 2023Journal of Bionic Engineering2023,20,1:0
