1Designing a Mini-Core Collection Effectively Representing 3004 Diverse Rice Accessions显示文摘Genetic diversity provides the foundation for plant breeding and genetic research.Over 3000 rice genomes were recently sequenced as part of the 3K Rice Genome(3KRG)Project.We added four additional Indian rice accessions to create a panel of 3004 accessions. However, such a large collection of germplasm is difficult to preserve and evaluate. The construction of core and mini-core collections is an efficient method for the management of genetic resources. In this study,we developed a mini-core comprising 520 accessions that captured most of the SNPs and represented all of the phenotypes and geographic regions from the original panel. The mini-core was validated using different statistical analyses and contained representatives from all major rice groups, including japonica,indica,aus/boro,and aromatic/basmati.Genomewide association analyses of the mini-core panel efficiently reproduced the marker–trait associations identified in the original panel.Haplotype analysis validated the utility of the mini-core panel. In the current era with many ongoing large-scale sequencing projects, such a strategy for mini-core design should be useful in many crops. The rice mini-core collection developed in this study would be valuable for agronomic trait evaluation and useful for rice improvement via marker-assisted molecular breeding.Angad Kumar Shivendra Kumar Kajol B.M.Singh Manoj Prasad Jitendra K.Thakur 2020Plant Communications2020,1,5:3
2Role of fecal microbiota transplant in management of hepatic encephalopathy: Current trends and future directions显示文摘Fecal microbiota transplantation(FMT)offers a potential treatment avenue for hepatic encephalopathy(HE)by leveraging beneficial bacterial displacement to restore a balanced gut microbiome. The prevalence of HE varies with liver disease severity and comorbidities.HE pathogenesis involves ammonia toxicity,gut-brain communication disruption, and inflammation.FMT aims to restore gut microbiota balance, addressing these factors.FMT's efficacy has been explored in various conditions, including HE.Studies suggest that FMT can modulate gut microbiota, reduce ammonia levels, and alleviate inflammation.FMT has shown promise in alcohol-associated,hepatitis B and C-associated,and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.Benefits include improved liver function, cognitive function, and the slowing of disease progression. However, larger, controlled studies are needed to validate its effectiveness in these contexts.Studies have shown cognitive improvements through FMT,with potential benefits in cirrhotic patients.Notably, trials have demonstrated reduced serious adverse events and cognitive enhancements in FMT arms compared to the standard of care.Although evidence is promising, challenges remain:Limited patient numbers, varied dosages, administration routes, and donor profiles.Further large-scale,controlled trials are essential to establish standardized guidelines and ensure FMT's clinical applications and efficacy. While FMT holds potential for HE management, ongoing research is needed to address these challenges, optimize protocols, and expand its availability as a therapeutic option for diverse hepatic conditions.Yash R Shah Hassam Ali Angad Tiwari David Guevara-Lazo Natalia Nombera-Aznaran Bhanu Siva Mohan Pinnam Manesh Kumar Gangwani Harishankar Gopakumar Amir H Sohail SriLakshmiDevi Kanumilli Ernesto Calderon-Martinez Geetha Krishnamoorthy Nimish Thakral Dushyant Singh Dahiya 2024World Journal of Hepatology2024,16,1:0
