1Infrared upconversion imaging in nonlinear metasurfaces显示文摘Infrared imaging is a crucial technique in a multitude of applications,including night vision,autonomous vehicle navigation,optical tomography,and food quality control.Conventional infrared imaging technologies,however,require the use of materials such as narrow bandgap semiconductors,which are sensitive to thermal noise and often require cryogenic cooling.We demonstrate a compact all-optical alternative to perform infrared imaging in a metasurface composed of GaAs semiconductor nanoantennas,using a nonlinear wave-mixing process.We experimentally show the upconversion of short-wave infrared wavelengths via the coherent parametric process of sum-frequency generation.In this process,an infrared image of a target is mixed inside the metasurface with a strong pump beam,translating the image from the infrared to the visible in a nanoscale ultrathin imaging device.Our results open up new opportunities for the development of compact infrared imaging devices with applications in infrared vision and life sciences.Rocio Camacho-Morales Davide Rocco Lei Xu Valerio Flavio Gili Nikolay Dimitrov Lyubomir Stoyanov Zhonghua Ma Andrei Komar Mykhaylo Lysevych Fouad Karouta Alexander Dreischuh Hark Hoe Tan Giuseppe Leo Costantino De Angelis Chennupati Jagadish Andrey E.Miroshnichenko Mohsen Rahmani Dragomir N.Neshev 2021Advanced Photonics2021,3,3:11
2Supplementation with sodium butyrate improves growth and antioxidant function in dairy calves before weaning显示文摘Background: There is increasing research interest in using short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs) including butyrate as potential alternatives to antibiotic growth promoters in animal production. This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of supplementation of sodium butyrate(SB) in liquid feeds(milk, milk replacer, and the mixture of both)on the growth performance, rumen fermentation, and serum antioxidant capacity and immunoglobins in dairy calves before weaning. Forty healthy female Holstein calves(4-day-old, 40 ± 5 kg of body weight) were housed in individual hutches and randomly allocated to 1 of 4 treatment groups(n = 10 per group) using the RAND function in Excel. The control group was fed no SB(SB0), while the other three groups were supplemented with 15(SB15),30(SB30), or 45(SB45) g/d of SB mixed into liquid feeds offered. The calves were initially fed milk only(days 2 to 20), then a mixture of milk and milk replacer(days 21 to 23), and finally milk replacer only(days 24 to 60).Results: The SB supplementation enhanced growth and improved feed conversion into body weight gain compared with the SB0 group, and the average daily gain increased quadratically with increasing SB supplementation. No significant effect on rumen pH;concentrations of NH_3-N, individual and total VFAs;or acetate:propionate(A:P) ratio was found during the whole experimental period. Serum glutathione peroxidase activity increased linearly with the increased SB supplementation, while the serum concentration of maleic dialdehyde linearly decreased. Serum concentrations of immunoglobulin A, immunoglobulin G, or immunoglobulin M were not affected by the SB supplementation during the whole experimental period.Conclusions: Under the conditions of this study, SB supplementation improved growth performance and antioxidant function in pre-weaned dairy calves. 3Photoinduced large polaron transport and dynamics in organic-inorganic hybrid lead halide perovskite with terahertz probes显示文摘Organic-inorganic hybrid metal halide perovskites(MHPs)have attracted tremendous attention for optoelectronic applications.The long photocarrier lifetime and moderate carrier mobility have been proposed as results of the large polaron formation in MHPs.However,it is challenging to measure the effective mass and carrier scattering parameters of the photogenerated large polarons in the ultrafast carrier recombination dynamics.Here,we show,in a one-step spectroscopic method,that the optical-pump and terahertz-electromagnetic probe(OPTP)technique allows us to access the nature of interplay of photoexcited unbound charge carriers and optical phonons in polycrystalline CH_(3)NH_(3)PbI_(3)(MAPbI_(3))of about 10μm grain size.Firstly,we demonstrate a direct spectral evidence of the large polarons in polycrystalline MAPbI_(3).Using the Drude-Smith-Lorentz model along with the Frӧhlich-type electron-phonon(e-ph)coupling,we determine the effective mass and scattering parameters of photogenerated polaronic carriers.We discover that the resulting moderate polaronic carrier mobility is mainly influenced by the enhanced carrier scattering,rather than the polaron mass enhancement.While,the formation of large polarons in MAPbI_(3)polycrystalline grains results in a long charge carrier lifetime at room temperature.Our results provide crucial information about the photo-physics of MAPbI3 and are indispensable for optoelectronic device development with better performance.Zuanming Jin Yan Peng Yuqing Fang Zhijiang Ye Zhiyuan Fan Zhilin Liu Xichang Bao Heng Gao Wei Ren Jing Wu Guohong Ma Qianli Chen Chao Zhang Alexey VBalakin Alexander PShkurinov Yiming Zhu Songlin Zhuang 2022Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,8:4
4Progress of Jinping Underground laboratory for Nuclear Astrophysics(JUNA)显示文摘Jinping Underground laboratory for Nuclear Astrophysics(JUNA) will take the advantage of the ultra-low background of CJPL lab and high current accelerator based on an ECR source and a highly sensitive detector to directly study for the first time a number of crucial reactions occurring at their relevant stellar energies during the evolution of hydrostatic stars. In its first phase, JUNA aims at the direct measurements of^(25)Mg(p,γ)^(26)Al,^(19)F(p,α)^(16)O,^(13)C(α,n)^(16)O and ^(12)C(α,γ)^(16)O reactions. The experimental setup,which includes an accelerator system with high stability and high intensity, a detector system, and a shielding material with low background, will be established during the above research. 7Spatial heterogeneity of urban soils:the case of the Beijing metropolitan region,China显示文摘Introduction:Urban soils are large pools of carbon,nitrogen,and other elements,supporting plant growth,sustaining biogeochemical cycles,and serving as the foundation for maintaining ecosystem function and services of urban green spaces(UGS).Quantifying urban soil properties is essential for assessing urban ecosystem services and detecting pollution.Characterizing spatial heterogeneity of urban soil properties,which may change with land use or urbanization,is crucial for understanding urban ecosystem functions.Methods:We collected 466 soil composite samples across the Beijing metropolitan region and then analyzed the heterogeneity of soil properties in UGS of Beijing metropolitan region by ANOVA along the urbanization gradient spanning different land uses.Results:Our results show that soil properties vary considerably among land-use types and along the urban-rural gradient.Soil moisture content,soil organic carbon(SOC),available phosphorus,available potassium,total nitrogen(TN),the ratio of SOC:TN(C/N),Pb,and Cu increased notably from suburbs to the urban core,while soil pH,bulk density,TN,Cr,Ni,and Mn were not significantly different across urbanization levels.Most soil properties,except soil TN,Cu,Cr,Ni,exhibited significant differences between different land uses.The highest levels of soil nutrients and heavy metals were found in roadsides and residential areas among all the land uses.Conclusions:The spatial heterogeneity of urban soils in the Beijing metropolitan region is mainly attributable to the different land uses.Soil nutrient content has increased in UGS due to fertilization and pollution.Contamination of urban soils by heavy metals is due largely to traffic emissions and pollution by industrial and household wastes.Although human activities tend to augment urban soil nutrient pools to maximize certain ecosystem services,they may inadvertently compromise these and other services by increasing pollution.Knowledge of urban soil spatial heterogeneity in UGS is indispensable for improving urban ecosystem management.Qizheng Mao Ganlin Huang Alexander Buyantuev Jianguo Wu Shanghua Luo Keming Ma 2014Ecological Processes2014,3,1:2

9Data-Driven Discovery in Mineralogy: Recent Advances in Data Resources, Analysis, and Visualization显示文摘Large and growing data resources on the diversity, distribution, and properties of minerals are ushering in a new era of data-driven discovery in mineralogy. The most comprehensive international mineral database is the IMA database, which includes information on more than 5400 approved mineral species and their properties, and the mindat.org data source, which contains more than 1 million species/locality data on minerals found at more than 300 000 localities. Analysis and visualization of these data with diverse techniques—including chord diagrams, cluster diagrams, Klee diagrams, skyline diagrams, and varied methods of network analysis—are leading to a greater understanding of the co-evolving geosphere and biosphere. New data-driven approaches include mineral evolution, mineral ecology, and mineral network analysis—methods that collectively consider the distribution and diversity of minerals through space and time. These strategies are fostering a deeper understanding of mineral co-occurrences and, for the first time, facilitating predictions of mineral species that occur on Earth but have yet to be discovered and described.Robert M.
