1Photochemical behavior of benzo[a]pyrene on soil surfaces under UV light irradiation显示文摘The rates of photodegradation and photocatalysis of benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) on soil surfaces under UV light have been stu- died. Different parameters such as temperature, soil particle sizes, and soil depth responsible for photodegradation, catalyst loads and wavelength of UV irradiation blamed for photocatalysis have been monitored. The results obtained indicated that BaP photodegradation follows pseudo-first-order kinetics. BaP photodegradation was the fastest at 30℃. The rates of BaP photo- degradation at different soil particle size followed the order: less than 1 mm>less than 0.45 mm>less than 0.25 mm. When the soil depth increased from 1 mm to 4 mm, the half-life increased from 13.23 d to 17.73 d. The additions of TiO2 or Fe2O3 accelerated the photodegradation of BaP, and the photocatalysis of BaP follows pseudo-first-order kinetics. Changes in catalyst loads of TiO2 (0.5%, 1%, 2%, and 3% (wt)) or Fe2O3 (2%, 5%, 7%, and 10% (wt)) did not significantly affect the degradation rates. 2Anti-fatty liver effects of oils from Zingiber officinale and Curcuma longa on ethanol-induced fatty liver in rats显示文摘OBJECTIVE:The present study is aimed at evaluating the protective effects of oils from Zingiber officinale(ginger) and Curcuma longa(turmeric) on acute ethanol-induced fatty liver in male Wistar rats.METHODS:Ferric reducing antioxidant power activity and oxygen radical absorbance capacity of the oils were evaluated ex vivo.Rats were pretreated for 28 d with standard drug(Livolin Forte) and oils from Z.officinale and C.longa before they were exposed to 45%ethanol(4.8 g/kg)to induce acute fatty liver.Histological changes were observed and the degree of protection was measured by using biochemical parameters such as alanine aminotransferase,aspartate aminotransferase and alkaline phosphatase activities.Serum triglyceride(TG) level,total cholesterol(TC) level and the effects of both oils on reduced gluthatione(GSH),glutathione-Stransferase(GST),superoxide dismutase(SOD) and hepatic malondialdehyde(MDA) levels were estimated.RESULTS:Oils from Z.officinale and C.longa at a dose of 200 mg/kg showed hepatoprotection by decreasing the activities of serum enzymes,serum TG,serum TC and hepatic MDA,while they significantly restored the level of GSH as well as GST and SOD activities.Histological examination of rats tissues was related to the obtained results.CONCLUSION:From the results it may be concluded that oils from Z.officinale and C.longa(200 mg/kg) exhibited hepatoprotective activity in acute ethanol-induced fatty liver and Z.officinale oil was identified to have better effects than C.longa oil.Sarah Onyenibe Nwozo Damilola Adeola Osunmadewa Babatunji Emmanuel Oyinloye 2014Journal of Integrative Medicine2014,12,1:7
3Techniques for evaluating digestibility of energy, amino acids,phosphorus,and calcium in feed ingredients for pigs显示文摘Sound feed formulation is dependent upon precise evaluation of energy and nutrients values in feed ingredients. Hence the methodology to determine the digestibility of energy and nutrients in feedstuffs should be chosen carefully before conducting experiments. The direct and difference procedures are widely used to determine the digestibility of energy and nutrients in feedstuffs. The direct procedure is normally considered when the test feedstuff can be formulated as the sole source of the component of interest in the test diet. However, in some cases where test ingredients can only be formulated to replace a portion of the basal diet to provide the component of interest, the difference procedure can be applied to get equally robust values. Based on components of interest, ileal digesta or feces can be collected, and different sample collection processes can be used. For example, for amino acids(AA), to avoid the interference of fermentation in the hind gut, ileal digesta samples are collected to determine the ileal digestibility and simple T-cannula and index method are commonly used techniques for AA digestibility analysis. For energy, phosphorus, and calcium, normally fecal samples will be collected to determine the total tract digestibility, and therefore the total collection method is recommended to obtain more accurate estimates. Concerns with the use of apparent digestibility values include different estimated values from different inclusion level and non-additivity in mixtures of feed ingredients. These concerns can be overcome by using standardized digestibility, or true digestibility, by correcting endogenous losses of components from apparent digestibility values. In this review, methodologies used to determine energy and nutrients digestibility in pigs are discussed. 5Characterization of cobalt ferrite-supported activated carbon for removal of chromium and lead ions from tannery wastewater via adsorption equilibrium显示文摘In this experiment,cobalt ferrite-supported activated carbon(CF-AC)was developed and characterized via the wet impregnation method for the removal of Cr and Pb(II)ions from tannery wastewater.Batch adsorption was carried out to evaluate the effect of experimental operating conditions(pH of solution,contact time,adsorbent dose,and temperature),and the removal efficiencies of Cr and Pb(II)ions by the developed adsorbents were calculated and recorded for all experimental conditions.These variables were estimated and reported as removal efficiencies of 98.2%for Cr and 96.4%for Pb(II)ions at the optimal conditions of 5,0.8 g,80 min,and 333 K for pH,adsorbent dose,contact time,and temperature,respectively.The equilibrium for the sorption of Cr and Pb(II)ions was studied using four widely used isotherm models(the Langmuir,Freundlich,Dubinin-Radushkevich,and Temkin isotherm models).It was found that the Freundlich isotherm model fit better with the coefficient of determination(R2)of 0.9484 and a small sum of square error of 0.0006.The maximum adsorption capacities(Qm)of Pb(II)and Cr adsorbed onto CF-AC were determined to be 6.27 and 23.6 mg/g,respectively.The adsorption process conformed well to pseudo-second order kinetics as revealed by the high R2 values obtained for both metals.The thermodynamic parameters showed that adsorption of Cr and Pb(II)ions onto CF-AC was spontaneous,feasible,and endothermic under the studied conditions.The mean adsorption energy(E)values revealed that the adsorption mechanism of Cr and Pb(II)by CF-AC is physical in nature.The results of the study showed that adsorbent developed from CF-AC can be efficiently used as an environmentally friendly alternative adsorbent,for removal of Cr and Pb(II)ions in tannery wastewater.Muibat Diekola Yahya Kehinde Shola Obayomi Mohammed Bello Abdulkadir Yahaya Ahmed Iyaka Adeola Grace Olugbenga 2020Water Science and Engineering2020,13,3:2
6Phosphorus utilization response of pigs and broiler chickens to diets supplemented with antimicrobials and phytase显示文摘Three experiments were conducted to evaluate the phosphorus(P) utilization responses of pigs and broiler chickens to dietary supplementation with antimicrobials and phytase and to determine if P digestibility response to phytase is affected by supplementation with antimicrobials. Experiment 1 used 4 diets(a basal negative control formulated to contain 0.41% total P and 0.71% calcium [Ca] without added antimicrobials, basal negative control with added carbadox, basal negative control with added tylosin, or basal negative control with added virginiamycin) and six 18-kg barrows in individual metabolism crates per diet. There was no effect of antimicrobials on P and Ca digestibility or retention. Carbadox supplementation increased(P < 0.05) digestibility and retention of gross energy(GE) and supplementation with tylosin increased(P < 0.05) N retention relative to the basal negative control diet. Experiment 2 used eight 19-kg barrows in individual metabolism crates per treatment and 9 dietary treatments arranged in a 3×3 factorial of antimicrobials(none, tylosin, or virginiamycin) and phytase(0, 500, or 1,500 FTU/kg).Phytase addition to the diets linearly increased(P< 0.05) apparent total tract digestibility or retention of P, Ca, nitrogen(N) and GE. Supplementation with antimicrobials did not affect apparent total tract digestibility or retention of P, Ca, N or GE. There were linear effects(P < 0.01) of phytase on Ca utilization in diets that were not supplemented with antimicrobials but only tendencies(P < 0,10) in diets supplemented with tylosin or virginiamycin. Phytase linearly improved(P < 0.05) N utilization in diets supplemented with tylosin or virginiamycin but not in diets without added antimicrobials. Experiment 3 was a broiler chicken experiment with the same experimental design as Exp. 2 but feeding 8 birds per cage and 10 replicate cages per diet. Antimicrobial supplementation improved(P < 0.05) feed efficiency and adding tylosin improved(P < 0.05) tibia ash but did not affect nutrient utilization, Dietary phytase improved(P < 0.01) growth performance, tibia ash and apparent ileal digestibility and retention of P regardless of antimicrobial supplementation. Overall, phytase supplementation improved growth performance and nutrient digestibility and retention, regardless of supplementation of diets with antimicrobials. 9回归分析法评价4种麦类饲料原料的肉鸡有效能值显示文摘本试验旨在评价大麦、黑小麦、小麦和黑麦4种麦类饲料原料在肉鸡上的有效能值,以期优化现有配方数据库,逐步实现饲粮营养的精准供给。采用回归分析法,试验分2批进行,试验1评价大麦和黑小麦的肉鸡回肠消化能(IDE)、代谢能(ME)、氮校正代谢能(MEn),试验2评价小麦和黑麦的肉鸡IDE、ME、MEn。每个批次试验均选用320只1日龄雄性罗斯708肉鸡为试验动物,将其随机分为5个组,每组设8个重复,每个重复8只鸡。1~20日龄为预试期,饲喂基础饲粮;21~28日龄为试验期,分别饲喂基础饲粮和试验饲粮。试验1的5个组21~28日龄所喂饲粮如下:基础饲粮、含250 g/kg大麦的饲粮、含500 g/kg大麦的饲粮、含250 g/kg黑小麦的饲粮、含500 g/kg黑小麦的饲粮。试验2的5个组21~28日龄所喂饲粮如下:基础饲粮、含250 g/kg小麦的饲粮、含500 g/kg小麦的饲粮、含250 g/kg黑麦的饲粮、含500 g/kg黑麦的饲粮。结果表明:在饲粮中添加大麦、黑小麦、小麦和黑麦对肉鸡生长性能均无显著影响(P>0.05)。大麦替代量与干物质、能量的回肠消化率以及干物质、氮、能量的全肠道代谢率,以及IDE、ME、MEn存在极显著的线性降低关系(P<0.01);黑小麦替代量与氮全肠道代谢率、IDE、ME、MEn存在极显著的线性降低关系(P<0.01),且与干物质、能量回肠消化率、IDE存在显著或极显著的二次曲线关系(P<0.05或P<0.01);小麦替代量与干物质、氮、能量、氮校正能量的全肠道代谢率显著或极显著的线性降低关系(P<0.05或P<0.01),且与干物质、能量的回肠消化率和IDE存在显著或极显著的二次曲线关系(P<0.05或P<0.01);黑麦替代量与干物质、能量的回肠消化率以及干物质、氮的全肠道代谢率存在显著或极显著线性降低关系(P<0.05或P<0.01);且与干物质、能量的回肠消化率和干物质、氮、能量、氮校正代谢能的全肠道代谢率以及IDE、ME、MEn存在显著或极显著的二次曲线关系(P<0.05或P<0.01)。通过回归分析得出大麦的肉鸡IDE、ME和MEn分别为9.31、10.50、10.29 MJ/kg,黑小麦分别为10.99、11.80、11.43 MJ/kg,小麦分别为10.59、11.81、11.28 MJ/kg,黑麦分别为11.97、12.56、11.83 MJ/kg。方成堃 禹琪芳 ADEOLA Olayiwola 贺建华 2021动物营养学报2021,33,2:1
10Phosphorus nutrition of growing pigs显示文摘Phosphorus(P)is an essential nutrient for diverse biological processes,which aggregate to the animal's requirement for P,and nutritionists strive to meet this requirement accurately.The P demand for a growing pig comprises requirements for maintenance and tissue deposition.The P in feed ingredients,however,must be digested and absorbed before its ultimate partition between the 2 aforementioned requirement components.Phosphorus from various sources could behave differently during digestion and absorption,which results in their disparate bioavailability for pigs.The system of standardized total tract digestibility reflects true total tract digestibility of P and feed ingredient effects on specific endogenous P loss with relative ease of implementation,and this system guarantees satisfactory additivity in digestible P among the ingredients in a dietdthe foundation for diet formulation.The basal endogenous P loss,which is much easier to measure than the specific endogenous P loss,is considered as part of the pig's maintenance requirement.With this arrangement,a digestibility framework is established both for measuring the P-providing capacity of various feed ingredients and for describing the pig's P requirement.This framework entails basic understanding of the function,digestion,absorption,excretion,and homeostasis of P as support pillars.Understanding the workings of this framework enables potential integration of factors such as environment conditions and disease status in future P requirement models.The current review discusses dietary sources,digestion,absorption,bioavailability and requirement of P for growing pigs to understand the status quo,revealing the points of consensus as well as those of debate,and to encourage further investigation to provide more clarity.Hengxiao Zhai Olayiwola Adeola Jingbo Liu 2022Animal Nutrition2022,,2:1
