| 1 | Non-invasive assessment of choledocholithiasis in patients with gallstones and abnormal liver function显示文摘AIM:To find a non-invasive strategy for detecting choledocholithiasis before cholecystectomy,with an acceptable negative rate of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography.METHODS:All patients with symptomatic gallstones were included in the study.Patients with abnormal liver functions and common bile duct abnormalities on ultrasound were referred for endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography.Patients with normal ultrasoundwere referred to magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography.All those who had a negative magnetic resonance or endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy with intraoperative cholangiography.RESULTS:Seventy-eight point five percent of patients had laparoscopic cholecystectomy directly with no further investigations.Twenty-one point five percent had abnormal liver function tests,of which 52.8%had normal ultrasound results.This strategy avoided unnecessary magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography in 47.2%of patients with abnormal liver function tests with a negative endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography rate of 10%.It also avoided un-necessary endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography in 35.2%of patients with abnormal liver function.CONCLUSION:This strategy reduces the cost of the routine use of magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography,in the diagnosis and treatment of common bile duct stones before laparoscopic cholecystectomy. | Bilal O Al-Jiffry Abdeen Elfateh Tariq Chundrigar Bassem Othman Owaid AlMalki Fares Rayza Hashem Niyaz Hesham Elmakhzangy Mohammed Hatem | 2013 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,35: | 6 |
| 2 | Effect of microwave pre-treatment on physical quality,bioactive compounds,safety risk factor,and storage stability of peanut butter显示文摘Microwave,as a new heat treatment technology,has the characteristics of uniform and fast heating speed.It is an energy-saving technology known for improving oilseed product quality.Its efficiency mainly depends on the roasting power and time.However,the production of high-quality peanut butter using short-time roasting con-ditions are limited.Herein,we determined an appropriate microwave roasting power and time for peanuts and evaluated its impacts on the quality of peanut butter.Different roasting powers(400 W,800 W and 1200 W)and times(4,4.5,5,and 5.5 min)were preliminarily tested.Among them,800 W at 5 min was the most suitable.The roasting efficiency was further evaluated using color,sensory,bioactive compounds,storage stability,and safety risk factors of peanut butter produced from four peanut cultivars(Silihong,Baisha-1016,Yuanza-9102,and Yuhua-9414).The pre-treated butter obtained from three cultivars(Silihong,Yuanza-9102,and Yuhua-9414)with moisture content between 5%and 7.2%had a similar sensory score(6-7)as the commercial on a 9-point hedonic scale compare to the other.The color of the pre-treated peanut butter varies statistically with the commercial but remained in the recommended range of Hunter L*values of 51-52,respectively,for high initial moisture peanut cultivars.The total polyphenol(35.20-31.59±0.59μmol GAE/g)and tocopherol(19.05±0.35 mg/100 g)content in the butter obtained from three cultivars(Yuahua-9102,Yuhua,and Baisha-1016)and Silihong respectively,were significantly(P<0.05)higher than those in the commercial butter.The induction times of all pre-treated butter(19.80±0.99-7.84±0.07 h)were significantly(P<0.05)longer during storage at accelerated temperature than commercial samples.In addition,no benzo[a]pyrene was found in the pre-treated samples.Collectively,the microwave pretreated peanut butter was superior to the commercial one.These findings provided data support and a reference basis to promote microwave use for peanut butter production. | Jefferson G.Degon Chang Zheng Abdeen Elkhedir Bo Yang Qi Zhou Wenlin Li | 2021 | Oil Crop Science2021,6,3: | 6 |
| 3 | A review of chemical absorption of carbon dioxide for biogas upgrading显示文摘Significant attention has been given to biogas production, purification and upgrading as a renewable and clean fuel supplement. Biogas is a product of an anaerobic digestion process comprising methane, carbon dioxide,and trace amounts of other gases. Biogas purification removes trace gases in biogas for safe utilisation. Biogas upgrading produces methane-rich biogas by removing bulk carbon dioxide from the gas mixture. Several carbon dioxide removal techniques can be applied for biogas upgrading. However, chemical absorption of carbon dioxide for biogas upgrading is of special significance due to its operation at ambient or near ambient temperature and pressure, thus reducing energy consumption. This paper reviews the chemical absorption of carbon dioxide using amine scrubbing, caustic solvent scrubbing, and amino acid salt solution scrubbing. Each of these techniques for biogas upgrading is discussed. The paper concludes that an optimised implementation of the chemical absorption techniques for biogas upgrading requires further research. | Fouad R.H. | 4 | Effects of design parameters on rooftop photovoltaic economics in the urban environment:A case study in Melbourne,Australia显示文摘Many researchers found high potential of adopting building photovoltaic(PV)systems in urban areas,especially on building rooftop,to improve the sustainability of urban environment.However,the optimal energy output performance and economic benefit of the PV system are affected by the usable roof area,PV array layout,and shading effect considering high city density.This study aims to understand the effects of these design parameters in the urban environment of rooftop PV's economic performance.This study carries out a case study in the urban area of Melbourne with 90 PV designs under three shading conditions to generate 270 scenarios.Through a lifecycle cost-benefit analysis,including net present value(NPV),NPV per kW,internal return rate(IRR),and payback year,the results can help in developing a comprehensive understanding of the economic performance of rooftop PV designs that cover most of the urban areas of Melbourne.The optimal PV design scenarios for the urban environment are identified,thereby providing investors and industry professionals with useful information on value-for-money PV design.Meanwhile,the maximum shading loss that makes the PV systems financially unfeasible is investigated,and design scenarios with greatest ability to sustain the shading effect are identified.This research can also support the policy makers'decision on the development and deployment of the roof PV systems in urban planning. | Hongying ZHAO Chaohong YANG W.M·Pabasara U.WIJERATNE Chengyang LIU Xiaolong XUE Nishara ABDEEN | 2019 | Frontiers of Engineering Management2019,6,3: | 2 |

| 12 | Production of geopolymer composites enhanced by nano‐kaolin material显示文摘Nowadays kaolin raw material is usually used to produce nano-kaolin for geopolymer enhancement by using firing method.In the present study,kaolin used was taken from the Naqus Formation(Cambro-Ordovician age),west of Gabal El Gunna,Sinai,Egypt.Nano-kaolin material is an ultrafine material and was prepared from the taken kaolin by the firing process at 800 for 2℃h with a heating rate of 5/min.Six mixes were prepared and their laboratory specimens were made℃and cured up to 90 days.Water cooled slag was used as starting material,and sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate were used in the study as activators for the used kaolin.The formed geopolymer mixes with different ratios(1%,1.5%,3%,5%,and 7%)of nano-kaolin as a partial replacement for the raw kaolin were investigated.Gelenium Ace super plasticizer was added in the ratio of 4%from the dry weight to ensure good dispersing of the used nano clay.Results showed that increasing the percentage of nano-kaolin up to 3%results in an enhancement in the mechanical properties as compared with the control mix up to 90 days of curing,while higher ratios are not preferable where they lead to agglomeration of the added nano materials and matrix dilution. | Mahmoud M.HASSAAN Hisham M.KHATER Medhat S.EL-MAHLLAWY Abdeen M.EL NAGAR | 2015 | Journal of Advanced Ceramics2015,4,4: | 1 |
