| 1 | Predicting crest settlement in concrete face rockfill dams using adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system and gene expression programming intelligent methods显示文摘This paper deals with the estimation of crest settlement in a concrete face rockfill dam (CFRD), utilizing intelligent methods. Following completion of dam construction, considerable movements of the crest and the body of the dam can develop during the first impoundment of the reservoir. Although there is vast experience worldwide in CFRD design and construction, few accurate experimental relationships are available to predict the settlement in CFRD. The goal is to advance the development of intelligent methods to estimate the subsidence of dams at the design stage. Due to dam zonification and uncertainties in material properties, these methods appear to be the appropriate choice. In this study, the crest settlement behavior of CFRDs is analyzed based on compiled data of 24 CFRDs constructed during recent years around the world, along with the utilization of gene expression programming (GEP) and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) methods. In addition, dam height (H), shape factor (S f ), and time (t, time after first operation) are also assessed, being considered major factors in predicting the settlement behavior. From the relationships proposed, the values of R 2 for both equations of GEP (with and without constant) were 0.9603 and 0.9734, and for the three approaches of ANFIS (grid partitioning (GP), subtractive clustering method (SCM), and fuzzy c-means clustering (FCM)) were 0.9693, 0.8657, and 0.8848, respectively. | 2 | Creep rupture assessment for Level-2 PSA of a 2-loop PWR: accounting for phenomenological uncertainties显示文摘The Level-2 probabilistic safety assessment(PSA) of pressurized water reactors studies the possibility of creep rupture for major reactor coolant system components during the course of high pressure severe accident sequences. The present paper covers this technical issue and tries to quantify its associated phenomenological uncertainties for the development of Level-2 PSA. A framework is proposed for the formal quantification of uncertainties in the Level-2 PSA model of a PWR type nuclear power plant using an integrated deterministic and PSA approach. This is demonstrated for estimation of creep rupture failure probability in station blackout severe accident of a 2-loop PWR, which is the representative case for high pressure sequences. MELCOR 1.8.6 code is employed here as the deterministic tool for the assessment of physical phenomena in the course of accident. | 7 | Topology optimization of shear wall structures under seismic loading显示文摘A topology optimization formulation is developed to find the stiffest structure with desirable material distribution subjected to seismic loads. Finite element models of the structures are generated and the optimality criteria method is modified using a simple penalty approach and introducing fictitious strain energy to simultaneously consider both material volume and displacement constraints. Different types of shear walls with/without opening are investigated. Additionally, the effects of shear wall-frame interaction for single and coupled shear walls are studied. Gravity and seismic loads are applied to the shear walls so that the definitions provide a practical approach for locating the critical parts of these structures. | 10 | Designing an Intelligent Control Philosophy in Reservoirs of Water Transfer Networks in Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System Stations显示文摘In this paper, a hybrid neural-genetic fuzzy system is proposed to control the flow and height of water in the reservoirs of water transfer networks. These controls will avoid probable water wastes in the reservoirs and pressure drops in water distribution networks. The proposed approach combines the artificial neural network, genetic algorithm, and fuzzy inference system to improve the performance of the supervisory control and data acquisition stations through a new control philosophy for instruments and control valves in the reservoirs of the water transfer networks. First, a multi-core artificial neural network model, including a multi-layer perceptron and radial based function, is proposed to forecast the daily consumption of the water in a reservoir. A genetic algorithm is proposed to optimize the parameters of the artificial neural networks. Then, the online height of water in the reservoir and the output of artificial neural networks are used as inputs of a fuzzy inference system to estimate the flow rate of the reservoir inlet. Finally, the estimated inlet flow is translated into the input valve position using a transform control unit supported by a nonlinear autoregressive exogenous model. The proposed approach is applied in the Tehran water transfer network.
