Modeling and Analysis of Mechanization Projects of Wheat Production by GERT Networks显示文摘In crop production systems, all operations such as seed bed preparation, etc.,must be accomplished on time,if yield reduction and low quality product are to be avoided. Therefore all operations in mechanized cropping projects require precise scheduling, planning and management. The basic approach in all scheduling techniques is to form a network of activities and events relationships that graphically portrays the sequential relations between the tasks in a project.Such a network would as a powerful tool available a farm manager to plan, schedule, monitor and control a project.Since GERT(Graphical Evaluation and Review Technique) networks have most of advantages associated with networks and available system analyst in exact evaluation of certain types of networks,in this research it was used and mechanized wheat production system was simulated, modeled and analyzed.Critical activities, events and path were determined. Results showed that the network model was able to answer any statistic questions concerning with the project.Network models, particularly GERT networks are increasingly powerful tool for modeling, scheduling, planning, controlling, and analyzing of agricultural mechanization projects.Reza Abdi Hamid Reza Ghasemzadeh Shamsollah Abdollahpour Majid Sabzeparvar Adel Dabbag Mohamadi Nasab 2010Agricultural Sciences in China2010,9,7:14
Rare earth elements distribution in marine sediments of Malaysia coasts显示文摘In the east coast Peninsular Malaysia region, sediments are transported by several rivers from the east Malaysia into the South China Sea estuary. In the vicinity of the five river estuaries core sediments were collected in order to investigate rare earth elements(REEs) profile.Core sediments were divided into strata of between 2 to 4 cm intervals and prepared for analyzing by ICP-AES.REE concentrations of 54.3 μg/gr at 24-26 cm in EC4 increased to 114.1 μg/gr at 20-22 cm in EC5.The measured concentration of LREEs and Fe normalized enrichment factors indicated that sediments were not enriched with light rare earth elements derived from effluents of anthropogenic activities. Results of the total concentration were used to establish baseline data in environmental pollution assessment and to develop the correlations between the Ce/Ce and Eu/Eu anomalies and the distribution patterns of some light rare earth elements(LREEs) and the heavy rare earth elements(HREEs).The chondrite-normalized ratios of REEs showed LREEs enrichment and flat HREE depletion.Rezaee Ebrahim Saraee Khadijeh Saion B.Elias Abdul Khalik Wood Abdi Mohammad Reza 2009Journal of Rare Earths2009,27,6:11
Synergistic activity of lawsone methyl ether in combination with some antibiotics and artocarpin against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, Candida albicans, and Trychophyton rubrum显示文摘Objective: One appealing strategy to overcome and prevent resistant problem is the use of combined two or more antibacterial substances. Lawsone methyl ether(LME) is the naphthoquinone found in the leaves of Impatiens balsamina. The objective of this study is to determine the interaction of LME with some antibiotics(ampicillin, tetracycline, norfloxacin, and clotrimazole) and a natural compound, artocarpin against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA), Candida albicans, and Trychophyton rubrum. Methods: A broth microdilution method was used to determine the minimum inhibition concentration(MIC). Synergistic effects were evaluated at their own MIC using the checkerboard method and time-kill assay. Results: LME showed moderate antibacterial activity against MRSA with MIC value of 15.6 μg/mL, and exhibited strong antifungal activities against T. rubrum and C. albicans with MIC values of 7.8 and 3.9 μg/m L,respectively. The interaction of LME with the natural compound artocarpin against MRSA produced a synergy with fractional inhibitory concentration index(FICI) value of 0.31, while the combination of LME and clotrimazole exhibited synergy against C. albicans and T. rubrum with FICI values of 0.38 and 0.24, respectively. The time-kill assays confirmed that the compounds in combination enhanced their antimicrobial activities against the resistant microorganisms with different degrees. Conclusion: LME in combination with clotrimazole exhibited synergy effect against C. albicans and T.rubrum. In combination with artocarpin, it showed synergy effect against MRSA.Pharkphoom Panichayupakaranant Abdi Wira Septama Akarawat Sinviratpong 2019Chinese Herbal Medicines2019,11,3:11

The culture results and organisms isolated were recorded.RESULTS:Sixty patients had acute onset and the remaining 40 patients had chronic onset dacryocystitis. The female to male ratio was 1.78. The mean age of patients was 44 y. Gram-positive organisms were the most commonly isolated accounting for 54%, and the commonest species isolated was S. aureus in 26%.Percentage of gram positive cultures was higher in chronic dacryocystitis than acute ones(82% vs 48% of positive cultures; P =0.003). Also in culture positive acute dacryocystitis, gram negative species were found in 52%of eyes but only in 18% of chronic dacryocystitis.CONCLUSION:Gram negative bacteria, culture negative samples, unusual and more virulent organisms are more common in acute dacryocystitis than chronic ones. The results of this study have significant bearing on the treatment of patients with dacrocystitis.Bahram Eshraghi Parisa Abdi Mohammadreza Akbari Masoud Aghsaei Fard 2014International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2014,7,5:11
Early repolarization syndrome: A cause of sudden cardiac death显示文摘Early repolarization syndrome(ERS), demonstrated as J-point elevation on an electrocardiograph, was formerly thought to be a benign entity, but the recent studies have demonstrated that it can be linked to a considerable risk of life- threatening arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death(SCD). Early repolarization characteristics associated with SCD include high-amplitude J-point elevation, horizontal and/or downslopping ST segments, and inferior and/or lateral leads location. The prevalence of ERS varies between 3% and 24%, depending on age, sex and J-point elevation(0.05 m V vs 0.1 m V) being the main determinants.ERS patients are sporadic and they are at a higher risk of having recurrent cardiac events. Implantable cardioverter-defibrillator implantation and isoproterenol are the suggested therapies in this set of patients. On the other hand, asymptomatic patients with ERS are common and have a better prognosis. The risk stratification in asymptomatic patients with ERS still remains a grey area. This review provides an outline of the up-to-date evidence associated with ERS and the risk of life- threatening arrhythmias. Further prospective studies are required to elucidate the mechanisms of ventricular arrhythmogenesis in patients with ERS.Abdi Ali Nida Butt Azeem S Sheikh 2015World Journal of Cardiology2015,7,8:9
Relationship between Temperaments of Medicinal Plants and Their Major Chemical Compounds显示文摘Objective: To determine any relationship between temperaments of medicinal plants referred to traditional Iranian manuscripts and their major chemical compounds. Methods: Plants used in traditional Iranian medicine were categorized based on their major chemical compounds including alkaloids, phenolic compounds, and essential oils. Their temperaments were extracted from traditional herbal pharmacopeias of Iran. The possible relationship between major chemical compounds and temperaments of each group were evaluated. Results: Plants containing phenolic compounds as their major constituents are hot and dry temperaments except those contain tannins with cold and dry temperaments. Plants containing essential oils have hot and dry temperaments except those whose major essential oils with alcoholic structure which have cold and dry temperaments. Alkaloid-containing plants have cold and dry or hot and dry temperaments based on their alkaloidal structures. Conclusions: There is a close relationship between major chemical compounds of medicinal plants and their temperaments mentioned in traditional Iranian manuscripts.Mohammad Reza Shams Ardekani Roja Rahimi Behjat Javadi Leila Abdi Mahnaz Khanavi 2011Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2011,31,1:7
Application of Spectral Angle Mapper Classification to Discriminate Hydrothermal Alteration in Southwest Birjand, Iran, Using Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer Image Processing显示文摘The purpose of this study is to evaluate the Spectral Angle Mapper (SAM) classification method for determining the optimum threshold (maximum spectral angle) to unveil the hydrothermal mineral assemblages related to mineral deposits. The study area indicates good potential for Cu-Au porphyry, epithermal gold deposits and hydrothermal alteration well developed in arid and semiarid climates, which makes this region significant for Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) image processing analysis. Given that achieving an acceptable mineral mapping requires knowing the alteration patterns, petrochemistry and petrogenesis of the igneous rocks while considering the effect of weathering, overprinting of supergene alteration, overprinting of hypogene alteration and host rock spectral mixing, SAM classification was implemented for argillic, sericitic, propylitic, alunitization, silicification and iron oxide zones of six previously known mineral deposits: Maherabad, a Cu-Au porphyry system; Sheikhabad, an upper part of Cu-Au porphyry system; Khoonik, an Intrusion related Au system; Barmazid, a low sulfidation epithermal system; Khopik, a Cu-Au porphyry system; and Hanish, an epithermal Au system. Thus, the investigation showed that although the whole alteration zones are affected by mixing, it is also possible to produce a favorable hydrothermal mineral map by such complementary data as petrology, petrochemistry and alteration patterns.Maryam ABDI Mohammd H. 8Soil fixation and erosion control by Haloxylon persicum roots in arid lands, Iran显示文摘Vegetation roots contribute to soil fixation and reinforcement, thus improving soil resistance against erosion. Generally, the amount of soil fixation presented by roots mainly depends on root density and tensile strength. In the present study, we conducted the research in order to further understand the biotechnical properties of Haloxylon persicum and also to quantify its role in increasing soil cohesion in arid lands of Iran. Ten H. persicum shrubs were randomly selected for root distribution and strength investigations, in which five samples were set on flat terrain and other five samples on a moderate slope terrain. The profile trench method was used to assess the root area ratio(RAR) as the index of root density and distribution. Two profiles were dug around each sample, up and downslope for sloped treatment and north and south sides for flat treatment. The results showed that RAR increased with increasing soil depth and significantly decreased in 40–50 cm layers of downhill(0.320%) and 50–60 cm for uphill(0.210%). The minimum values for the northward and southward profiles were 0.003% and 0.003%, respectively, while the maximum values were 0.260% and 0.040%, respectively. The relationship between the diameter of root samples and root tensile strength followed a negative power function, but tensile force increased with increasing root diameter following a positive power function. The pattern of increased cohesion changes in soil profile was relatively similar to RAR curves. The maximum increased cohesion due to the presence of roots in uphill and downhill sides were 0.470 and 1.400 kPa, respectively. In the flat treatment, the maximum increased cohesions were 0.570 and 0.610 kPa in northward and southward profiles, respectively. The analysis of variance showed that wind and slope induced stresses did not have any significant effect on the amount of increased cohesion of H. persicum. The findings served to develop knowledge about biotechnical properties of H. persicum root system that can assist in assessing the efficiency of afforestation and restoration measures for erosion control in arid lands.Ehsan ABDI Hamid R SALEH Baris MAJNONIAN Azade DELJOUEI 2019Journal of Arid Land2019,11,1:4
Routine magnetic resonance cholangiography compared to intra-operative cholangiography in patients with suspected common bile duct stones显示文摘BACKGROUND:Magnetic resonance cholangiography (MRC)is a non-invasive method for imaging biliary ducts. When used to exclude common bile duct(CBD) stones,MRC may obviate the need for intra-operative cholangiography(IOC).In this prospective study,MRC and IOC were compared for the diagnosis of suspected stones of the CBD. METHODS:Thirty patients with gallstones and suspected CBD lithiasis(abnormal serum liver tests and CBD>7 mm on ultrasound)had MRC followed by open cholecystectomy and IOC.MR imaging was done using a 1.5-T whole body scanner(Signa,General Electric Medical Systems).A torso phased-array coil with a 4-channel receiver was used for data acquisition. RESULTS:Over a period of 18 months,30 patients(average age 53.9±13.3 years;range 38-76 years)were enrolled in this study.Eleven patients were male(36.7%)and 19 female(63.3%).MRC revealed CBD stones in 19 patients, while IOC revealed CBD stones in 22.The sensitivity of MRC in detecting CBD stones was 81.8%,and the specificity was 87.5%.The positive predictive value was 94.7%,and the negative predictive value was 63.3%. CONCLUSIONS:Pre-operative MRC may obviate the need for IOC.MRC reduces operative time,is less invasive, and may also alleviate damage to the CBD that can occurduring IOC.MRC can identify CBD stones pre-operatively and can help surgeons plan safe procedures.Pre-operative MRC should be done routinely in patients whose clinical or biochemical findings suggest the possibility of CBD stones.Fariborz Eshghi Roohollah Abdi 2008Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2008,7,5:4

Feasibility evaluation for excavation of Naghshe Jahan Square subway station by underground methods显示文摘In recent years, in reaction to the increasing usage of urban areas, the excavation of underground spaces has been developed. One of the most challenging issues encountered by engineers is the construction of subway stations as large underground spaces at shallow depth with soft surrounding soils. In this paper, Naghshe Jahan Square subway station located in Isfahan, Iran, has been simulated by geomechanical fnite difference method(FDM). This station is located under important historical structures. Therefore, the ground displacement and surface settlement induced by the excavation of the subway station should be strictly controlled. Many of such problems are affected by selected excavation method. For these reasons, different underground excavation methods associated with construction have been studied. In this study, sequential excavation method and large-diameter curved pipe roofng method are used and the numerical results of the two methods are compared. The presence of groundwater table obliges us to choose special techniques for the stability of the ground around the subway station during construction; hence compressed air and ground freezing techniques are utilized in the simulations of the subway station. Finally, after choosing appropriate support systems, the large-diameter curved pipe roofng method with 1.5 m spacing between curved pipes is proposed.Morteza Abdi Cherlo Hamid Hashemolhosseini Masoud Cheraghi Saeed Mahdevari 2013Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2013,5,6:3

An investigation into the effects of lime on compressive and shear strength characteristics of fiber-reinforced clays显示文摘To meet the ever-increasing construction demands around the world during recent years, reinforcement and stabilization methods have been widely used by geotechnical engineers to improve the performances and behavior of fine-grained soils.Although lime stabilization increases the compressive strength of soils,it reduces the soil ductility at the same time.Recent research shows that random fiber inclusion modifies the brittleness of soils. In the current research, the effects of lime and polypropylene(PP)fiber additions on such characteristics as compressive and shear strengths, failure strain, secant modulus of elasticity(E50)and shear strength parameters of mixtures were investigated.Kaolinite was treated with 1%,3% and 5% lime by dry weight of soil and reinforced with 0.1% monovalent PP fibers with the length of 6 mm.Samples were prepared at optimum conditions and cured at 35℃ for 1 d,7 d and 28 d at 90% relative humidity and subsequently subjected to uniaxial and triaxial compression tests(UCT and TCT)under cell pressures of 25 kPa,50 kPa and 100 kPa.Results showed that inclusion of random PP fibers to clay-lime mixtures increases both compressive and shear strengths as well as the ductility.Lime content and curing period were found to be the most influential factors.Scanning electron microscopy(SEM)analysis showed that lime addition and the formation of cementitious compounds bind soil particles and increase soil/fiber interactions at interface, leading to enhanced shear strength. The more ductile the stabilized and reinforced composition, the less the cracks in roads and waste landfill covers.Mahmood Reza Abdi Abbas Ghalandarzadeh Leila Shafiei Chafi 2021Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2021,13,4:2
