Investigation of quality of life in patients with lung cancer by the EORTC QLQ-C30(V3.0) Chinese version显示文摘Objective To explore quality of life(QOL) and its influencing factors in patients with lung cancer. Methods A QOL questionnaire(European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer [EORTC] Quality of Life Questionnaire-Core 30 [QLQ-C30] Chinese version) was used with 138 patients with lung cancer participating in the study. A statistical description of the general characteristics of the patients with lung cancer was performed. The patients' QLQ-C30 scores were compared with the reference value for each dimension. To analyze the influence of QOL in different genders, age groups, and cancer stages, ttests and rank sum tests were used to compare the differences in QOL using a 5% significance level. Results The QLQ-C30 function scores in PF(physical functioning), EF(emotional functioning), SF(social functioning), and GH(global functioning), and symptom scales in NV(nausea and vomiting), DY(dyspnea), SL(insomnia), and FI(financial difficulties) were significantly different(P < 0.05) in comparison to the reference values. Female patients were worse than males(P < 0.05) in EF, NV, and DI(diarrhea). The later the stage of lung cancer, the worse the quality of life became; the functional scales in RF(role functioning), EF, CF, SF, and GH, and symptom scales in PA(pain), AP(appetite), and SL differences were statistically significant(P < 0.05). Conclusion This study aids understanding of the status of the quality of life of Chinese patients with cancer and might be useful for clinical work, theory research, and health policymakers. | Jun Li Xiaoguang Xiao Yao Wei Yang Li Man Zou Shiying Yu Yuan Chen Qian Chu | 2015 | Oncology and Translational Medicine2015,1,3: | 18
Superior mesenteric venous thrombosis after laparoscopic radical resection of rectal cancer: a report of a rare case and literature review显示文摘Mesenteric venous thrombosis(MVT) is rare, but life-threatening. MVT is often characterized by occult and nonspecific signs and symptoms. Diagnosis requires a high index of clinical suspicion, and emergency surgery is necessary to optimize patient survival, especially in people aged more than 70 years. This study reports a case of extensive intestinal ischemic infarction caused by acute MVT after laparoscopic radical surgery for rectal cancer in a 70-year-old male. | Xinliang Jin Weijie Xue Yixiu Wang Qinkai Xue Zhiqi Gong Yongke Liu Zhaojian Niu Chengzhan Zhu | 2018 | Oncology and Translational Medicine2018,4,6: | 9
Analysis of cancer incidence and mortality data in Heilongjiang province cancer registries, China, 2015显示文摘Objective In recent years, the rising incidence of cancer has increased patients’ living and economic burdens. This study analyzed the incidence and death due to malignant tumors in tumor registries in Heilongjiang province (China) in 2015 to provide a scientific basis for the prevention and treatment of malignant tumors in this province. Methods Data on tumor incidence and patient deaths were collected from seven tumor registries in Heilongjiang province (China) in 2015. According to the stratification of urban and rural areas and patient sex, the crude, standard, and accumulative rates (0–74 years of age) were calculated. The 2000 China Population Census data and Segi’s standard population were used to calculate the age-standardized rates. Results In 2015, the incidence rate of malignant tumors in Heilongjiang cancer registries was 259.90/100 000. The age-standardized incidence rates in the Chinese and world standard populations were 158.89/100 000 and 155.06/100 000, respectively, with a cumulative incidence rate (0–74 years) of 17.68%. The incidence of malignant tumors in urban areas was 273.55/100 000, while that in rural areas was 220.32/100 000. The incidence of malignant tumors in men was 270.89/100 000, higher than that in women (249.04/100 000). Lung cancer had the highest incidence, followed by breast cancer, liver cancer, colorectal cancer, and thyroid cancer. The mortality rate of malignant tumors in Heilongjiang cancer registries was 164.69/100 000. The age-standardized mortality rates in Chinese and in world standard populations were 95.29/100 000 and 94.35/100 000, respectively, with a cumulative mortality rate (0–74 years) of 10.44%. The mortality rate of malignant tumors in urban areas was 169.51/100 000, while that in rural areas was 150.72/100 000. The mortality rate of malignant tumors in men was 201.64/100 000, higher than that in women (128.21/100 000). Lung cancer had the highest mortality, followed by liver cancer, stomach cancer, colorectal cancer, and breast cancer. Conclusion Lung, liver, breast, and colorectal cancers were the most common cancers in Heilongjiang province, China, and should be considered the key cancer types for prevention and treatment. Moreover, the incidence of thyroid cancer is increasing, and thus early preventative measures should be implemented. | Huixin Sun Bingbing Song Maoxiang Zhang | 2019 | Oncology and Translational Medicine2019,5,4: | 7
Implications of the autophagy core gene variations on brain metastasis risk in non-small cell lung cancer treated with EGFR-TKI显示文摘Objective The brain is the main site of failure in cancer patients with epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)mutations undergoing treatment. However, identifying patients who may develop brain metastases(BM)is difficult.Autophagy is critical for cancer initiation and progression. We hypothesized that genetic variants in autophagy core genes might contribute to BM risk of non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)following treatment with EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor(EGFR-TKIs).Methods We systematically examined 16 potentially functional genetic polymorphisms in seven autophagy core genes among 105 TKI-treated NSCLC patients.Kaplan-Meier curves were plotted to assess the cumulative BM probability.Univariate and multivariate Cox proportional hazard regression analyses were utilized to calculate hazard ratios(HRs)and 95%confidence intervals(CIs).We evaluated the potential associations of these genes with subsequent BM development. Results We found that ATG16L1:rs2241880,ATG10:rs10036653,rs3734114,and ATG3:rs7652377 are significantly associated with NSCLC treated with EGFR-TKIs(all P<0.05).BM developed more often in patients with ATG3 rs7652377 CC genotype(33%),ATG10 rs10036653 AA genotype(43%),ATG10:rs3734114 CT/CC genotype(46%),and ATG16L1 rs2241880 AA genotype(37%)compared to patients with AA genotypes at rs7652377(12%),AT/TT genotypes at rs10036653(16%),the TT genotype at rs3734114(13%),or AG/GG genotypes at rs2241880(17%).Conclusion These associations may be critical for understanding the role of autophagy in BM risk.Future prospective studies are needed to determine if prophylactic cranial irradiation(PCI)could offer a survival benefit in this group of patients. | Ye Yuan Hu Han Yu Jin Xiao Zhou Minxiao Yi Yang Tang Qianxia Li | 2020 | Oncology and Translational Medicine2020,6,5: | 5
The clinical study of ultrasound-guided intra-hysteromyoma injection of ethyl alcohol absolute combined with HIFU in the treatment of uterine fibroids显示文摘Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the energy deposition in the target area of high intensity focused ultrasound(HIFU) with ultrasound-guided intra-hysteromyoma injection of ethyl alcohol absolute Methods Eighty patients with hysteromyomas were randomly divided into two groups: group HIFU(group H) and group HIFU combined with ultrasound-guided intra-hysteromyoma injectionn of ethyl alcohol absolute(group E + H). Patients in group E + H received an ultrasound-guided injection of absolute ethyl alcohol 1 h before HIFU treatment. The irradiation time, irradiation dose, energy efficiency factor(radiation energy required for ablation of a myoma per unit of volume), grey variation, pain score, and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. An independent sample t-test was used with a twotailed P-value of < 0.05.Results The irradiation time, irradiation dose, and energy efficiency factor were significantly lower in group E + H than those in group H(P < 0.05). The hysteromyomas of patients in group E+H appeared as dominantly hyperechoic masses, and those of patients in group H appeared as hyperechoic tissue(nonmass). The incidence of adverse reactions and pain score were higher in group H than those in group E + H(P < 0.05).Conclusion Ultrasound-guided intra-hysteromyoma injection of ethyl alcohol absolute can enhance the energy deposition of HIFU in the uterine fibroids, improve the treatment efficiency, shorten the treatment time, reduce the treatment dose, and reduce the pain and complications for the patients. | Xiaoli Zou Baixin Sun Li Jia Xiaobei Liu | 2018 | Oncology and Translational Medicine2018,4,5: | 5
Dosimetric evaluation of VMAT radiation therapy technique for breast cancer after conservative surgery based on three different types of multileaf collimators显示文摘Objective Radiotherapy combined with conservative surgery plays an important role in the treatment of early-stage breast cancer. Volumetric modulated arc therapy(VMAT) has been introduced into clinical practice. The purpose of this study was to investigate the dosimetric effects of different multileaf collimators(MLC) on VMAT radiotherapy plans for treating breast cancer. Methods Fifteen breast cancer patients who were treated using a conventional technique in our department were selected to participate in this retrospective analysis. VMAT plans based on three types of Elekta MLCs [Beam Modulator(BM) with 4-mm leaf width, Agility with 5-mm leaf width and MLCi2 with 10-mm leaf width] were independently generated for each patient. Plan comparisons were performed based on dose-volume histogram(DVH) analysis including dosimetric parameters such as the homogeneity index(HI), conformity index(CI), Dmax, Dmin, and Dmean for the planning treatment volume(PTV), in addition to dose-volume parameters for the organs at risk(OARs). The delivery efficiency of the three types of MLCs was compared in terms of the beam delivery time and the monitor units(MUs) per fraction for each plan. Results Both target uniformity and conformity were improved in plans for Agility and BM MLC compared with the plan using MLCi2. The mean HI decreased from 1.14 for MLCi2 to 1.13 for BM and 1.10 for Agility, while the mean CI increased from 0.68 for MLCi2 to 0.73 for BM and 0.75 for Agility. Furthermore, at both low and high dose levels, smaller volumes of ipsilateral lung, heart, contralateral lung, and breast were irradiated with Agility MLC than with the other two types of MLCs. The delivery time with Agility MLC was reduced by 10.8% and 32.1%, respectively, compared with that for MLCi2 and BM.Conclusion Our results indicate that the Agility MLC exhibits a dosimetric advantage and a significant improvement in delivery efficiency for the treatment of breast cancer using VMAT. | Fuli Zhang Weidong Xu Huayong Jiang Yadi Wang Junmao Gao Qingzhi Liu | 2018 | Oncology and Translational Medicine2018,4,5: | 4

Predictive value of serum levels of transforming growth factor beta 1 for the short-term effects of radiotherapy and chemotherapy in patients with esophageal cancer显示文摘Objective To investigate variation in levels of transforming growth factor beta 1(TGF-β1)before and after radiotherapy in patients with esophageal cancer in order to evaluate the predictive value of TGF-β1 for the effects of radiotherapy Methods A total of 140 patients with esophageal squamous carcinoma undergoing radical radiation therapy in the Department of Oncology from March 2015 to December 2017 were enrolled. The patients were divided into the effective(115 cases)and ineffective(25 cases)groups according to World Health Organization(WHO)criteria for the evaluation of solid tumors(2009 RECIST standard).TGF-β1 levels were measured in all patients by using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Multiple-factor analysis of the predictive value of the treatment efficacy was performed by Cox regression analysis. Results After radiotherapy,36,79,and 25 cases experienced complete response(CR),partial response(PR),and no response(NR),respectively, with a total effective rate of 82.14%.The TGF-β1 level was significantly lower in the effective group than that in the ineffective group(P<0.05)and covariance analysis revealed significantly reduced TGF-β1 level in esophageal cancer patients following radiotherapy. The multi-factor Cox regression model revealed that the predictive value of TGF-β1 for the effect of radiotherapy was largest, with a hazard ratio[HR]of 1.955(P=0.002),followed by exposure dose,with(HR=1.367;P=0.035).Conclusion Serum TGF-β1 level can serve as a predictor for the short-term effects of radiotherapy in patients with esophageal cancer. | Fei Gao Lin Jia Jianjun Han Jisheng Wang Yun Wang | 2018 | Oncology and Translational Medicine2018,4,1: | 4
A retrospective analysis of the safety and efficacy of apatinib in treating advanced metastatic colorectal cancer显示文摘Objective Colorectal cancer(CRC) is a heterogeneous disease in which both epigenetic alterations and gene mutations transform normal cells into cancer cells. Apart from a variety of standard treatments, there are few options available to improve a CRC patient's overall survival(OS) and quality of a life. The objective of the present retrospective study was to analyze the response and toxicity associated with apatinib in patients with metastatic CRC(m CRC).Method Data on the use of apatinib as salvage therapy were collected from patients diagnosed with m CRC, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group(ECOG) performance status ≤ 3, from the Luhe Hospital. A total of 17 patients with stage IV unresectable m CRC, who received at least one cycle of apatinib, between October 2015 and February 2017, were involved in this study. Our primary endpoints were the overall response rate(ORR) and disease control rate(DCR), and the secondary objectives were progression-free survival(PFS), OS and safety.Result Seventeen patients with a median age of 62 years(34–83 years) were enrolled. Twelve patients were male, and the location of the primary tumor was in the colon and the rectum in 9 and 8 patients, respectively. Liver metastasis was observed in 9 patients and lung metastasis in 5. The ECOG performance status was 0 to 2 in 13 patients. The ORR at the first evaluation was 17.6 %(3/17). The DCR was 82.4%(14/17). The median PFS was 3.0 months(95% confidence interval(CI): 1.924–4.076 months) and the median OS was 5.4 months(95% CI: 3.383–7.417 months). Grade 1–2 adverse events included hypertension(52.9%), fatigue(64.7%), anorexia(29.4%), hoarseness(23.5%), proteinuria(23.5%), and development of rashes(17.6%). Grade 3 adverse events included thrombocytopenia(5.9%) and proteinuria(5.9%). There were no Grade 4 adverse events in our analysis. Conclusions Apatinib was found to be both safe and effective in the treatment of advanced m CRC, and its associated toxicities were acceptable and manageable. However, further studies are required to validate these findings. | Li Wang Juan Lu Yi Liu Yunfei Gao Man Kong Jiandong Yang Bin Kong Xuebing Li Xifen Huang Wenzhong Pei | 2017 | Oncology and Translational Medicine2017,3,5: | 4
Efficacy and safety of anlotinib plus S-1as thirdly-line or later-line treatmentin advanced non-small cell lung cancer显示文摘Objective Anlotinib,an oral vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2(VEGFR2)inhibitor,has confirmed antitumor activity in lung cancer in both in vitro and in vivo assays, and has been recommended as third-line treatment agent in non-oncogene driven non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).This prospective study aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of anlotinib plus S-1 for third-or later-line treatment in patients with advanced NSCLC.Methods Patients with histologically or cytologically confirmed NSCLC,and documented disease progression following second-line chemotherapy,and/or epidermal growth factor receptor-tyrosine kinase inhibitor(EGFR-TKI)treatment were enrolled in this study. The patients were treated anlotinib(8 mg daily d 1–14)and S-1(60 mg/m^2 d 1–14)and the treatment was repeated every 3 weeks.Treatment was continued until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity occurred. The objective response rate(ORR),disease control rate(DCR),progression-free survival(PFS),and adverse events(AEs)were reviewed and evaluated. Results Forty-one patients were enrolled in the study between June 2018 and December 2018.The total ORR and DCR were 26.8%and 80.5%,respectively.The median PFS was 5.2 months[95%confidence interval(CI),3.9 to 6.6 months].In the univariate analysis, there was a significant difference in the median PFS between patients with brain metastases and those without brain metastases(4.8 months vs 5.9 months,respectively;P=0.039).The Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group(ECOG)performance status(P=0.002),lines of therapy(P=0.015),and therapeutic evaluation(P=0.014)were independent factors that influenced PFS.The most common AEs were hypertension, proteinuria, myelosuppression, gastrointestinal reactions, fatigue, and mucositis. Conclusion Anlotinib plus S-1 is an effective and safe regimen for advanced NSCLC as third-or later-line therapy. | Heng Cao Kai Liang Peng Liu Jing Wang Yuanyuan Ji Lujuan Xu Weilong Wu Shengnan Guo Xuekun Song Yonggui Hong | 2020 | Oncology and Translational Medicine2020,6,1: | 4
Factors influencing the presence of circulating differentiated thyroid cancer cells in the thyroidectomy perioperative period显示文摘Objective The aim of the study was to detect circulating differentiated thyroid cancer(DTC) micrometastasis and to investigate the factors influencing their presence in the perioperative thyroidectomy period. Methods DTC micrometastases in the peripheral blood were detected with flow cytometry, and patient clinical and pathological factors were analyzed in 327 DTC patients. Results Circulating blood micrometastases were present in the peripheral circulation at a higher rate 1 week postoperatively than preoperatively and at 4 weeks postoperatively(P < 0.05). The preoperative presence of circulating micrometastasis was associated with the size of the tumor and the presence of lymph node metastasis(P < 0.05),but was not related to the degree of tumor differentiation(P > 0.05). At 4 weeks postoperatively, the presence of circulating micrometastasis was not associated with tumor size or lymph node stage(P > 0.05),but was associated with poorly differentiated tumors(P < 0.05). Conclusion The presence of circulating DTC micrometastases correlates to tumor size, lymph node stage, and operative manipulation. The differentiation degree of the tumors were associated with the persistent presence of micrometastasis in the circulating blood. | Wentao Wei Qinjiang Liu Wei Yao | 2015 | Oncology and Translational Medicine2015,1,5: | 3
The diagnostic value of tumor abnormal protein and high sensitivity C reactive protein in screening for endometrial cancer with endometrial thickness less than 8 mm显示文摘Objective This study aimed to combine tumor abnormal protein(TAP) and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP) level detection to diagnose endometrial cancer in patients with endometrial thickness less than 8 mm, and to provide a reference for clinical screening and diagnosis. Methods Clinical data from 19 cases of endometrial cancer, diagnosed on the basis of pathological findings, were collected from September 2014 to December 2015. The inclusion criteria were as follows: the patients were first diagnosed with endometrial thickness less than 8 mm and were all in menopause. Perimenopausal patients(n = 26) with uterine fibroids seen during the same period were selected as a control group. Serum TAP and hs-CRP levels of the patients in the two groups were simultaneously determined on admission. Results We found that both TAP and hs-CRP levels in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group [(182.95 ± 72.14) μm^2 vs.(133.19 ± 55.18) μm^2, P = 0.019;(7.52 ± 19.03) mg/L vs.(1.66 ± 2.31) mg/L, P = 0.136]. The sensitivity of TAP for the diagnosis of endometrial cancer was 73.68%, the specificity was 69.23%, and the Youden index was 0.4291. The diagnostic sensitivity and specificity of hs-CRP was 15.79% and 100%, respectively, and the Youden index was 0.1579. After plotting the receiver operating characteristics curves, the optimal cut-off value for TAP in diagnosing endometrial cancer was found to be 160.662 μm^2 and that for hs-CRP was 1.07 mg/L. | 16 | Association between diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, chronic viral hepatitis, and the risk of multiple myeloma:a case-control study显示文摘Objective This case-control study aimed to investigate whether diabetes mellitus(DM),hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and chronic viral hepatitis are risk factors for multiple myeloma(MM).Moreover, the clinical characteristics of MM patients with or without the abovementioned exposure factors were analyzed. Methods In total,340 MM patients and 680 patients with benign diseases who were hospitalized from January 2012 to December 2017 were classified under the case group and control group, respectively.Data about medical history of DM,hypertension, hyperlipidemia and chronic viral hepatitis were collected by reviewing medical records.Univariate and multivariate analyses were conducted to compare the history of DM,hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and viral hepatitis between the two groups.Considering DM,hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and chronic viral hepatitis as exposure factors, clinical characteristics, such as renal function and presence of fungal and other types of infections, between the exposed and nonexposed groups were analyzed. Results No significant difference was observed in the prevalence of DM,hypertension, and hyperlipidemia between the case and control groups.MM patients had a higher prevalence of chronic viral hepatitis than those with benign diseases. No significant difference was observed in the prevalence of renal dysfunction, fungal infection, and non-fungal infections in MM patients with or without DM,hypertension, and hyperlipidemia.MM patients with chronic viral hepatitis had a significantly higher prevalence of nonfungal infections during hospitalization than those without. Conclusion No significant association was noted between MM and DM,hypertension, and hyperlipidemia.Chronic viral hepatitis is correlated to a significantly higher risk of MM,and MM patients with chronic viral hepatitis were more susceptible to non-fungal infections during hospitalization.Although a non-significant trend was observed in this study,we believe that DM and hypertension might be associated with a higher risk of MM.Thus,large-scale studies must be conducted to validate the results of the current study. | Gang Zhou Xiangyu Meng Shangqin Liu | 2020 | Oncology and Translational Medicine2020,6,2: | 3
Application of pegylated recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor(PEG-rhG-CSF) for the prevention of neutropenia in triple negative breast cancer patients older than 65 years during adjuvant chemotherapy显示文摘Objective The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy and safety of pegylated recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor(PEG-rhG-CSF)and recombinant human granulocyte colonystimulating factor(rhG-CSF)for the prevention of neutropenia in elderly breast cancer patients during adjuvant chemotherapy. Methods A total of 45 oncology inpatients with breast cancer, who received adjuvant chemotherapy and were older than 65 years from May 2017 to October 2018 in the General Hospital of the Northern Theater of the Chinese people’s Liberation Army, were included.Epirubivin Cyclophoshamide-Docetaxel(EC-T)sequential adjuvant chemotherapy was chosen.Forty-five patients were randomly divided into two groups;25 patients in the treatment group were treated with PEG-rhG-CSF and 20 patients in the control group were not treated with PEG-rhG-CSF,but only rhG-CSF.The experimental group was treated with the PEG-rhG-CSF at the end of chemotherapy for 24–48 h,with a 6 mg subcutaneous injection once per chemotherapy cycle. In the control group,rhG-CSF was administered after 48 h of chemotherapy, with a 100μg subcutaneous injection,1/d,d 1–7.The dosage could be increased step by step with the exacerbation of neutropenia. The primary aims of this study was to discover the incidence of leukopenia, neutropenia, neutrophilic fever, and adverse reactions in the two groups. Results The incidence of neutropenia, neutrophilic fever and adverse reactions decreased in the treatment group compared to the control group, but no significant difference existed between two groups(P>0.05).Patients in treatment group had a lower, but not statistically significant, incidence of adverse reactions(P>0.05).Conclusion Applying PEG-rhG-CSF could be effective in preventing neutropenia in elderly patients with postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy to treat breast cancer. It may effectively control the occurrence of neutropenia after chemotherapy and reduce the chance of infection. The incidence of side effects, such as fever and bone pain, was low.The adverse drug reactions were well tolerated by patients, which could ensure the smooth progress of chemotherapy. | Shuxian Qu Jianing Qiu Yidan Zhang Yongming Liu Zhendong Zheng | 2019 | Oncology and Translational Medicine2019,5,5: | 3
IL-13Ra2-and glioma stem cell-pulsed dendritic cells induce glioma cell death in vitro显示文摘Objective Gliomas are the most common malignant tumors in the central nervous system.Despite multiple therapies including surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, the prognosis of patients remains poor.Immunotherapy is an alternative method of treating glioma, and the use of dendritic cell vaccines is one of the promising treatment options. However, there is no specific tumor cell antigen that can trigger dendritic cells(DCs).IL-13Ra2 is a specific antigen expressed in glioma cells;in the current study,we have attempted to explore whether IL-13Ra2 could be the antigen that triggers DCs and to envisage its application as potential therapy for glioma. Methods The expression of IL-13Ra2 was detected in U251 glioma cell lines and primary glioma tissues using different methods.DCs from human blood were isolated and pulsed with recombinant IL-13Ra2,following which the cytotoxicity of these DCs on glioma cells was detected and analyzed. Results About 55.9% human glioma tissue cells expressed IL-13Ra2,while normal brain tissue cells did not show any expression.DC vaccines loaded with IL-13Ra2,glioma cell antigen, and brain tumor stem cell(BTSC) antigen could significantly stimulate the proliferation of T lymphocytes and induce cell death in the glioma tissue.Compared to other groups,DC vaccines loaded with BTSC antigen showed the strongest ability to activate cytotoxic T lymphocytes(CTLs),while the glioma cell antigen group showed no significant difference. Conclusion IL-13Ra2,which is expressed in gliomas and by glioma stem cells,as well as IL-13Ra2 could prove to be potential antigens for DC vaccine-based immunotherapy. | Ying Wang Ruifan Xie Hongquan Niu Ting Lei | 2016 | Oncology and Translational Medicine2016,2,5: | 3
Quantitative differential diagnosis of breasttumors using shear wave velocity and differentprobe orientations显示文摘Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate the additional benefit of the difference of maximum and minimum shear wave velocity(SWV) values obtained at different probe orientations(D-value) for the differential diagnosis of breast tumors. Methods SWV(m/s) was measured in 123 breast tumors(92 benign,31 malignant) in 76 female patients with the probe placed on the transverse, longitudinal, and 45° planes. The areas under the receiver operating characteristic(AUROC) curves were compared with respect to the maximum SWV,minimum SWV,D-value,maximum SWV combined with the D-value,and minimum SWV combined with the D-value.Results There was a significant difference among the values of the maximum SWV,minimum SWV,and D-value for the 3 planes(P < 0.001).The AUROC curves for the maximum SWV,minimum SWV,and D-values of the 3 planes were 0.751(P = 0.379),0.486(P = 0.863),and 0.603(P = 0.204),respectively.The cutoff value for the maximum SWV for differentiating benign tumors from malignant tumors was 2.51 m/s(sensitivity 67%,specificity 50%).The cutoff value for the minimum SWV was 1.61 m/s(sensitivity 53%,specificity 50%).Adding the D-value increased the AUROC curve for the maximum SWV from 0.571 to 0.733 and the minimum SWV from 0.486 to 0.504(P = 0.964),respectively.Conclusion SWV differs in different planes of breast tumors. The D-value can provide a reference for the differential diagnosis of breast tumors. | Yuan Huang Youbin Deng Liping Wang Xinwu Cui | 2017 | Oncology and Translational Medicine2017,3,2: | 3
