Science Mapping:A Systematic Review of the Literature显示文摘Purpose: We present a systematic review of the literature concerning major aspects of science mapping to serve two primary purposes: First, to demonstrate the use of a science mapping approach to perform the review so that researchers may apply the procedure to the review of a scientific domain of their own interest, and second, to identify major areas of research activities concerning science mapping, intellectual milestones in the development of key specialties, evolutionary stages of major specialties involved, and the dynamics of transitions from one specialty to another.Design/methodology/approach: We first introduce a theoretical framework of the evolution of a scientific specialty. Then we demonstrate a generic search strategy that can be used to construct a representative dataset of bibliographic records of a domain of research. Next, progressively synthesized co-citation networks are constructed and visualized to aid visual analytic studies of the domain's structural and dynamic patterns and trends. Finally, trajectories of citations made by particular types of authors and articles are presented to illustrate the predictive potential of the analytic approach.Findings: The evolution of the science mapping research involves the development of a number of interrelated specialties. Four major specialties are discussed in detail in terms of four evolutionary stages: conceptualization, tool construction, application, and codification. Underlying connections between major specialties are also explored. The predictive analysis demonstrates citations trajectories of potentially transformative contributions.Research limitations: The systematic review is primarily guided by citation patterns in the dataset retrieved from the literature. The scope of the data is limited by the source of the retrieval, i.e. the Web of Science, and the composite query used. An iterative query refinement is possible if one would like to improve the data quality, although the current approach serves our purpose adequately. More in-depth analyses of each specialty would be more revealing by incorporating additional methods such as citation context analysis and studies of other aspects of scholarly publications.Practical implications: The underlying analytic process of science mapping serves many practical needs, notably bibliometric mapping, knowledge domain visualization, and visualization of scientific literature. In order to master such a complex process of science mapping, researchers often need to develop a diverse set of skills and knowledge that may span multiple disciplines. The approach demonstrated in this article provides a generic method for conducting a systematic review.Originality/value: Incorporating the evolutionary stages of a specialty into the visual analytic study of a research domain is innovative. It provides a systematic methodology for researchers to achieve a good understanding of how scientific fields evolve, to recognize potentially insightful patterns from visually encoded signs, and to synthesize various information so as to capture the state of the art of the domain. | Chaomei Chen | 2017 | Journal of Data and Information Science2017,2,2: | 596
Towards 6G wireless communication networks:vision, enabling technologies, and new paradigm shifts显示文摘The fifth generation(5G)wireless communication networks are being deployed worldwide from 2020 and more capabilities are in the process of being standardized, such as mass connectivity,ultra-reliability,and guaranteed low latency.However,5G will not meet all requirements of the future in 2030 and beyond, and sixth generation(6G)wireless communication networks are expected to provide global coverage, enhanced spectral/energy/cost efficiency, better intelligence level and security, etc. To meet these requirements,6G networks will rely on new enabling technologies,i.e.,air interface and transmission technologies and novel network architecture, such as waveform design, multiple access, channel coding schemes,multi-antenna technologies, network slicing,cell-free architecture, and cloud/fog/edge computing. Our vision on 6G is that it will have four new paradigm shifts.First,to satisfy the requirement of global coverage,6G will not be limited to terrestrial communication networks, which will need to be complemented with non-terrestrial networks such as satellite and unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)communication networks, thus achieving a space-airground-sea integrated communication network.Second, all spectra will be fully explored to further increase data rates and connection density, including the sub-6GHz,millimeter wave(mmWave),terahertz(THz),and optical frequency bands.Third, facing the big datasets generated by the use of extremely heterogeneous networks, diverse communication scenarios, large numbers of antennas, wide bandwidths, and new service requirements,6G networks will enable a new range of smart applications with the aid of artificial intelligence(AI)and big data technologies.Fourth, network security will have to be strengthened when developing 6G networks. This article provides a comprehensive survey of recent advances and future trends in these four aspects.Clearly,6G with additional technical requirements beyond those of 5G will enable faster and further communications to the extent that the boundary between physical and cyber worlds disappears. | Xiaohu YOU Cheng-Xiang WANG Jie HUANG Xiqi GAO Zaichen ZHANG Mao WANG Yongming HUANG Chuan ZHANG Yanxiang JIANG Jiaheng WANG Min ZHU Bin SHENG Dongming WANG Zhiwen PAN Pengcheng ZHU Yang YANG Zening LIU Ping ZHANG Xiaofeng TAO Shaoqian LI Zhi CHEN Xinying MA Chih-Lin I Shuangfeng HAN Ke LI Chengkang PAN Zhimin ZHENG Lajos HANZO Xuemin(Sherman)SHEN Yingjie Jay GUO Zhiguo DING Harald HAAS Wen TONG Peiying ZHU Ganghua YANG Jun WANG Erik GLARSSON Hien Quoc NGO Wei HONG Haiming WANG Debin HOU Jixin CHEN Zhe CHEN Zhangcheng HAO Geoffrey Ye LI Rahim TAFAZOLLI Yue GAO HVincent POOR Gerhard P.FETTWEIS Ying-Chang LIANG | 2021 | Science China(Information Sciences)2021,64,1: | 122

Controller design, as key technology to make hypersonic flight feasible and efficient, has numerous challenges stemming from large flight envelope with extreme range of operation conditions, strong interactions between elastic airframe, the propulsion system and the structural dynamics. This paper briefly presents several commonly studied hypersonic flight dynamics such as winged-cone model, truth model, curve-fitted model, control oriented model and re-entry motion. In view of different schemes such as linearizing at the trim state, input-output linearization, characteristic modeling, and back-stepping, the recent research on hypersonic flight control is reviewed and the comparison is presented. To show the challenges for hypersonic flight control, some specific characteristics of hypersonic flight are discussed and the potential future research is addressed with dealing with actuator dynamics, aerodynamic/reaction-jet control, flexible effects,non-minimum phase problem and dynamics interaction. | XU Bin SHI ZhongKe | 2015 | Science China(Information Sciences)2015,58,7: | 58 |

Sparse microwave imaging:Principles and applications显示文摘This paper provides principles and applications of the sparse microwave imaging theory and technology.Synthetic aperture radar(SAR) is an important method of modern remote sensing.During decades microwave imaging technology has achieved remarkable progress in the system performance of microwave imaging technology, and at the same time encountered increasing complexity in system implementation. The sparse microwave imaging introduces the sparse signal processing theory to radar imaging to obtain new theory, new system and new methodology of microwave imaging.Based on classical SAR imaging model and fundamental theories of sparse signal processing,we can derive the model of sparse microwave imaging, which is a sparse measurement and recovery problem and can be solved with various algorithms. There exist several fundamental points that must be considered in the efforts of applying sparse signal processing to radar imaging, including sparse representation, measurement matrix construction, unambiguity reconstruction and performance evaluation.Based on these considerations, the sparse signal processing could be successfully applied to radar imaging, and achieve benefits in several aspects, including improvement of image quality, reduction of data amount for sparse scene and enhancement of system performance. The sparse signal processing has also been applied in several specific radar imaging applications. | ZHANG BingChen HONG Wen WU YiRong | 2012 | Science China(Information Sciences)2012,55,8: | 48
Extreme learning machines: new trends and applications显示文摘Extreme learning machine(ELM), as a new learning framework, draws increasing attractions in the areas of large-scale computing, high-speed signal processing, artificial intelligence, and so on. ELM aims to break the barriers between the conventional artificial learning techniques and biological learning mechanism and represents a suite of machine learning techniques in which hidden neurons need not to be tuned. ELM theories and algorithms argue that 'random hidden neurons' capture the essence of some brain learning mechanisms as well as the intuitive sense that the efficiency of brain learning need not rely on computing power of neurons. Thus, compared with traditional neural networks and support vector machine, ELM offers significant advantages such as fast learning speed, ease of implementation, and minimal human intervention. Due to its remarkable generalization performance and implementation efficiency, ELM has been applied in various applications. In this paper, we first provide an overview of newly derived ELM theories and approaches. On the other hand, with the ongoing development of multilayer feature representation, some new trends on ELM-based hierarchical learning are discussed. Moreover, we also present several interesting ELM applications to showcase the practical advances on this subject. | DENG ChenWei HUANG GuangBin XU Jia TANG JieXiong | 2015 | Science China(Information Sciences)2015,58,2: | 50

The Sunway TaihuLight supercomputer: system and applications显示文摘The Sunway Taihu Light supercomputer is the world's first system with a peak performance greater than 100 PFlops. In this paper, we provide a detailed introduction to the Taihu Light system. In contrast with other existing heterogeneous supercomputers, which include both CPU processors and PCIe-connected many-core accelerators(NVIDIA GPU or Intel Xeon Phi), the computing power of Taihu Light is provided by a homegrown many-core SW26010 CPU that includes both the management processing elements(MPEs)and computing processing elements(CPEs) in one chip. With 260 processing elements in one CPU, a single SW26010 provides a peak performance of over three TFlops. To alleviate the memory bandwidth bottleneck in most applications, each CPE comes with a scratch pad memory, which serves as a user-controlled cache. To support the parallelization of programs on the new many-core architecture, in addition to the basic C/C++and Fortran compilers, the system provides a customized Sunway Open ACC tool that supports the Open ACC2.0 syntax. This paper also reports our preliminary efforts on developing and optimizing applications on the Taihu Light system, focusing on key application domains, such as earth system modeling, ocean surface wave modeling, atomistic simulation, and phase-field simulation. | Haohuan FU Junfeng LIAO Jinzhe YANG Lanning WANG Zhenya SONG Xiaomeng HUANG Chao YANG Wei XUE Fangfang LIU Fangli QIAO Wei ZHAO Xunqiang YIN Chaofeng HOU Chenglong ZHANG Wei GE Jian ZHANG Yangang WANG Chunbo ZHOU Guangwen YANG | 2016 | Science China(Information Sciences)2016,59,7: | 45
Path planning for mobile robot using self-adaptive learning particle swarm optimization显示文摘As a challenging optimization problem, path planning for mobile robot refers to searching an optimal or near-optimal path under different types of constrains in complex environments. In this paper, a self-adaptive learning particle swarm optimization(SLPSO) with different learning strategies is proposed to address this problem. First, we transform the path planning problem into a minimisation multi-objective optimization problem and formulate the objective function by considering three objectives: path length, collision risk degree and smoothness. Then, a novel self-adaptive learning mechanism is developed to adaptively select the most suitable search strategies at different stages of the optimization process, which can improve the search ability of particle swarm optimization(PSO). Moreover, in order to enhance the feasibility of the generated paths, we further apply the new bound violation handling schemes to restrict the velocity and position of each particle. Finally, experiments respectively with a simulated robot and a real robot are conducted and the results demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of SLPSO in solving mobile robot path planning problem. | Guangsheng LI Wusheng CHOU | 2018 | Science China(Information Sciences)2018,61,5: | 46
A language-independent neural network for event detection显示文摘Event detection remains a challenge because of the difficulty of encoding the word semantics in various contexts. Previous approaches have heavily depended on language-specific knowledge and preexisting natural language processing tools. However, not all languages have such resources and tools available compared with English language. A more promising approach is to automatically learn effective features from data, without relying on language-specific resources. In this study, we develop a language-independent neural network to capture both sequence and chunk information from specific contexts and use them to train an event detector for multiple languages without any manually encoded features. Experiments show that our approach can achieve robust, efficient and accurate results for various languages. In the ACE 2005 English event detection task, our approach achieved a 73.4% F-score with an average of 3.0% absolute improvement compared with state-of-the-art. Additionally, our experimental results are competitive for Chinese and Spanish. | Xiaocheng FENG Bing QIN Ting LIU | 2018 | Science China(Information Sciences)2018,61,9: | 42

Adaptive neural control based on HGO for hypersonic flight vehicles显示文摘This paper describes the design of adaptive neural controller for the longitudinal dynamics of a generic hypersonic flight vehicle (HFV) which are decomposed into two functional systems, namely the altitude subsystem and the velocity subsystem. For each subsystem, one adaptive neural controller is investigated based on the normal output-feedback formulation. For the altitude subsystem, the high gain observer (HGO) is taken to estimate the unknown newly defined states. Only one neural network (NN) is employed to approximate the lumped uncertain system nonlinearity during the controller design which is considerably simpler than the ones based on back-stepping scheme with the strict-feedback form. The Lyapunov stability of the NN weights and filtered tracking error are guaranteed in the semiglobal sense. Numerical simulation study of step response demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed strategy in spite of system uncertainty. | XU Bin GAO DaoXiang WANG ShiXing | 2011 | Science China(Information Sciences)2011,54,3: | 36

L_(1/2) regularization显示文摘In this paper we propose an L1 /2 regularizer which has a nonconvex penalty. The L 1/2 regularizer is shown to have many promising properties such as unbiasedness, sparsity and oracle properties.A reweighed iterative algorithm is proposed so that the solution of the L 1/2 regularizer can be solved through transforming it into the solution of a series of L 1 regularizers. The solution of the L 1/2 regularizer is more sparse than that of the L 1 regularizer, while solving the L 1/2 regularizer is much simpler than solving the L 0 regularizer. The experiments show that the L 1/2 regularizer is very useful and efficient, and can be taken as a representative of the Lp(0 < p < 1) regularizer. | XU ZongBen ZHANG Hai WANG Yao CHANG XiangYu LIANG Yong | 2010 | Science China(Information Sciences)2010,53,6: | 32
PID controller design for second order nonlinear uncertain systems显示文摘Although the classical PID(proportional-integral-derivative) controller is most widely and successfully used in engineering systems which are typically nonlinear with various uncertainties, almost all the existing investigations on PID controller focus on linear systems. The aim of this paper is to present a theory on PID controller for nonlinear uncertain systems, by giving a simple and analytic design method for the PID parameters together with a mathematic proof for the global stability and asymptotic regulation of the closed-loop control systems. To be specific, we will construct a 3-dimensional manifold within which the three PID parameters can be chosen arbitrarily to globally stabilize a wide class of second order nonlinear uncertain dynamical systems, as long as some knowledge on the upper bound of the derivatives of the nonlinear uncertain function is available. We will also try to make the feedback gains as small as possible by investigating the necessity of the manifold from which the PID parameters are chosen, and to establish some necessary and sufficient conditions for global stabilization of several special classes of nonlinear uncertain systems. | Cheng ZHAO Lei GUO | 2017 | Science China(Information Sciences)2017,60,2: | 32
Visual interpretability for deep learning:a survey显示文摘This paper reviews recent studies in understanding neural-network representations and learning neural networks with interpretable/disentangled middle-layer representations.Although deep neural networks have exhibited superior performance in various tasks, interpretability is always Achilles' heel of deep neural networks. At present, deep neural networks obtain high discrimination power at the cost of a low interpretability of their black-box representations. We believe that high model interpretability may help people break several bottlenecks of deep learning,e.g.,learning from a few annotations, learning via human–computer communications at the semantic level, and semantically debugging network representations. We focus on convolutional neural networks(CNNs),and revisit the visualization of CNN representations, methods of diagnosing representations of pre-trained CNNs,approaches for disentangling pre-trained CNN representations, learning of CNNs with disentangled representations, and middle-to-end learning based on model interpretability. Finally,we discuss prospective trends in explainable artificial intelligence. | Quan-shi ZHANG Song-chun ZHU | 2018 | Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering2018,19,1: | 32

In this paper, we present efficient signcryption schemes between the traditional public key cryptosystem (TPKC) and the identity based cryptosystem (IDPKC). In contrast, all the existing signcryption schemes available in the literature, to our knowledge, are limited to within one type of cryptosystem. We also discuss them in the multi-receiver setting. | 20 | Information entropy for ordinal classification显示文摘Ordinal classification plays an important role in various decision making tasks. However, little attention is paid to this type of learning tasks compared with general classification learning.Shannon information entropy and the derived measure of mutual information play a fundamental role in a number of learning algorithms including feature evaluation, selection and decision tree construction. These measures are not applicable to ordinal classification for they cannot characterize the consistency of monotonicity in ordinal classification. In this paper, we generalize Shannon's entropy to crisp ordinal classification and fuzzy ordinal classification, and show the information measures of ranking mutual information and fuzzy ranking mutual information. We discuss the properties of these measures and show that the proposed ranking mutual information and fuzzy ranking mutual information are the indexes of consistency of monotonicity in ordinal classification. In addition, the proposed indexes are used to evaluate the monotonicity degree between features and decision in the context of ordinal classification. | HU QingHua GUO MaoZu YU DaRen LIU JinFu | 2010 | Science China(Information Sciences)2010,53,6: | 29 |
