1Crustal deformation on the Chinese mainland during 1998—2004 based on GPS data显示文摘This study focuses on resolving moderate amounts of crustal motion at the continental scale based on a large volume of global positioning system(GPS) data during 1998e2014. A state-of-the-art GPS processing strategy was used to resolve position time series and velocities from carrier beat phases for all available data. Position time series were closely analyzed to estimate linear constant, coseismic displacements, postseismic motions, and other parameters. We present coseismic offsets inferred from the GPS data for the 2010 Yushu and 2014 Yutian earthquakes, and also illustrate transient postseismic motions following the 2001 Kokoxili, 2008 Wenchuan, and 2011 Tohoku-Oki earthquakes. Since not all GPS position time series dominated by postseismic motions can be modeled and corrected reasonably, we present contemporary horizontal velocities from 2009 to 2014 for campaign stations and from 1998 to 2014 for continuous stations, irrespective of postseismic deformations. 2Analysis of ionospheric anomaly preceding the Mw7.3 Yutian earthquake显示文摘On February 12,2014,a large Mw7. 3 earthquake occurred in Yutian of Xijiang Province,China.We processed the global ionosphere maps provided by CODE( the Center for Orbit Determination in Europe)and the foF2( the critical frequency of F2-layer) data of Chongqing ionosonde station to analyze the preearthquake ionospheric anomalies. Solar activities and magnetic storm were checked by the sliding inter quartile range method to remove their effects on the ionosphere. A positive ionospheric anomaly with the large amplitude of 20 TECU was observed near the epicenter on February 3( 10th day before the earthquake). In addition,the foF2 at Chongqing station had an unusual increase of more than 40% on the day,which was consistent with the TEC( Total Electron Content) anomaly. The global disturbance represents that the peak of TEC anomaly didn't coincide with the vertical projection of epicenter. The TEC anomalous area was closer to the equator,and it mainly occurred from local time 16 ∶ 00 to 20 ∶ 00. 3GNSS receiver autonomous integrity monitoring(RAIM)algorithm based on robust estimation显示文摘Integrity is significant for safety-of-life applications. Receiver autonomous integrity monitoring(RAIM) has been developed to provide integrity service for civil aviation. At first,the conventional RAIM algorithm is only suitable for single fault detection, single GNSS constellation. However, multiple satellite failure should be considered when more than one satellite navigation system are adopted. To detect and exclude multi-fault, most current algorithms perform an iteration procedure considering all possible fault model which lead to heavy computation burden. An alternative RAIM is presented in this paper based on multiple satellite constellations(for example, GPS and Bei Dou(BDS) etc.) and robust estimation for multi-fault detection and exclusion, which can not only detect multi-failures,but also control the influences of near failure observation. Besides, the RAIM algorithm based on robust estimation is more efficient than the current RAIM algorithm for multiple constellation and multiple faults. 4Mapping coalmine goaf using transient electromagnetic method and high density resistivity method in Ordos City, China显示文摘The research about subsurface characteristics by using transient electromagnetic method(TEM) and high density resistivity method(HDRM) were already conducted in Ordos. The objective of this research is to detect coalmine goaf areas based on rock resistivity. The data processing using wavelet transform, three point smoothing, RES2 DINV and Maxwell processing software to obtain 2D resistivity structure. The results showed that the layers with maximum resistivity values(30e33 U m on Line 1, 30e31 U m on Line 2, 32e40 U m on Line3) are founded at station 1e7, and 14e20 on Line 1,13e18 on Line 2, and 8e13 and 16e20 on Line 3 which is predicted as goaf layer, and the minimum resistivity values(20e26 U m of TEM, 45e75 U m of HDRM) at the other layers. This resistivity difference was caused by the geology and characteristics of the study area which is located close by the cleugh with rich coal, so the goaf area distinguishable with aquifer layer and coal seam. 5Earthquake prediction from China's mobile gravity data显示文摘The relation between plate tectonics and earthquake evolution is analyzed systematically on the basis of 1998e2010 absolute and relative gravity data from the Crustal Movement Observation Network of China. Most earthquakes originated in the plate boundary or within the fault zone. Tectonic deformation was most intense and exhibited discontinuity within the tectonically active fault zone because of the differential movement; the stress accumulation produced an abrupt gravity change, which was further enhanced by the earthquake. The gravity data from China's Mainland since 2000 obviously reflected five major earthquakes(Ms > 7), all of which were better reflected than before 2000. Regional gravity anomalies and a gravity gradient change were observed in the area around the epicenter about 2 or 3 years before the earthquake occurred, suggesting that gravity change may be a seismic precursor. 7Analysis of railway subgrade frost heave deformation based on GPS显示文摘In order to analyze the connection between the railway subgrade frost heave deformation and temperature variation, five GPS stations' data were used to monitor the deformation on a certain section of railway subgrade in northeast China. GAMIT software is used to process the data, providing daily solution, daytime solution and nighttime solution. Vertical trends of these five stations were analyzed to investigate frost heave effect on railway subgrade deformation. 8Symmetry and tendency judgment of Ms≥8. 0 strong earthquakes in Chile显示文摘The Ms≥8. 0 strong earthquakes occurring in Chile since 1800 were analyzed using the ternary,quaternary,and quinary commensurability methods and the butterfly structure diagram,and it was believed that the earthquake signal in Chile in 2014 is relatively strong,a large earthquake is likely to occur in Chile in2014. An analysis of spatial epicenter migrations showed that the longitudinal and latitudinal epicenter migrations have symmetry and synchronism,and there were five obvious northward migrations and four southward migrations. 9A zenith tropospheric delay correction model based on the regional CORS network显示文摘Tropospheric delay is a primary error source in earth observations and a variety of radio navigation technologies. In this paper, the relationship between zenith tropospheric delays and the elevation and longitude of stations is analyzed using the zenith tropospheric delay final products of International GNSS Service (IGS) stations from 2011. Two new models are proposed for estimating zenith tropospheric delays from regional CORS data without meteorological data. The proposed models are compared with the direct interpolation method and the remove-restore method using data from Guangxi CORS. The results show that the new models significantly improve the calculated precision. 10Monitoring earthquakes with gravity meters显示文摘Seismic waves from a magnitude 8.3 earthquake in Japan were consistently recorded by five nearly identical gPhone gravity meters in Colorado. Good correlation was also found in the response of two different types of gravity meters and a standard seismometer in Walferdange, Luxembourg to an earthquake of magnitude 8.2 in Japan, indicating that all of them were capable of measuring the surface waves reliably. The gravity meters, however, recorded 11 separate arrivals of Raleigh waves, while the seismometer only one. Thus the gravity meters may be useful for obtaining new information in the study of seismic velocities, attenuation and dispersion.T.M. 11Anomalous crustal movements before great Wenchuan earthquake observed by GPS显示文摘Studies of GPS data carried out before and after the great Wenchuan earthquake of Ms8.0 on May 12,2008 show that anomalous crustal movements occurred before the earthquake.Data from 4 pre-earthquake observation sessions at a dense network of stations show that there were prominent broad-ranged long-and mid-term anomalies in horizontal displacements and strain and in vertical displacements.Data from the fewer-numbered reference stations of continuous GPS observations since 1999 in West and South China showed short-term preseismic anomalies in horizontal displacements.The detection of co-seismic horizontal displacements at these stations supports the existence of the pre-earthquake anomalies.Results of single-epoch solutions of data from continuous-observation stations near the epicenter also show large imminent anomalies in vertical displacements.Although the Wenchuan earthquake was not predicted,these results give a strong indication that GPS should be the main observation technique for long-term,mid-term,short-term and imminent earthquake predictions.Gu Guohua Meng Guojie Wang Wuxing 2011Geodesy and Geodynamics2011,2,2:10
12Terrestrial water storage changes over the Pearl River Basin from GRACE and connections with Pacific climate variability显示文摘Time-variable gravity data from the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment(GRACE)satellite mission are used to study terrestrial water storage(TWS) changes over the Pearl River Basin(PRB) for the period 2003 eN ov. 2014. TWS estimates from GRACE generally show good agreement with those from two hydrological models GLDAS and WGHM. But they show different capability of detecting significant TWS changes over the PRB. Among them,WGHM is likely to underestimate the seasonal variability of TWS, while GRACE detects longterm water depletions over the upper PRB as was done by hydrological models, and observes significant water increases around the Longtan Reservoir(LTR) due to water impoundment.The heavy drought in 2011 caused by the persistent precipitation deficit has resulted in extreme low surface runoff and water level of the LTR. Moreover, large variability of summer and autumn precipitation may easily trigger floods and droughts in the rainy season in the PRB, especially for summer, as a high correlation of 0.89 was found between precipitation and surface runoff. Generally, the PRB TWS was negatively correlated with El Nin^o-Southern Oscillation(ENSO) events. However, the modulation of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation(PDO)may impact this relationship, and the significant TWS anomaly was likely to occur in the peak of PDO phase as they agree well in both of the magnitude and timing of peaks. 13Bathymetry predicted from vertical gravity gradient anomalies and ship soundings显示文摘In this paper,the admittance function between seafloor undulations and vertical gravity gradient anomalies was derived. Based on this admittance function,the bathymetry model of 1 minute resolution was predicted from vertical gravity gradient anomalies and ship soundings in the experimental area from the northwest Pacific. The accuracy of the model is evaluated using ship soundings and existing models,including ETOPO1,GEBCO,DTU10 and V15. 1 from SIO. 14Downward continuation of airborne geomagnetic data based on two iterative regularization methods in the frequency domain显示文摘Downward continuation is a key step in processing airborne geomagnetic data. However,downward continuation is a typically ill-posed problem because its computation is unstable; thus, regularization methods are needed to realize effective continuation. According to the Poisson integral plane approximate relationship between observation and continuation data, the computation formulae combined with the fast Fourier transform(FFT)algorithm are transformed to a frequency domain for accelerating the computational speed. The iterative Tikhonov regularization method and the iterative Landweber regularization method are used in this paper to overcome instability and improve the precision of the results. 15Anomalous variations in ionospheric TEC prior to the 2011 Japan Ms9.0 earthquake显示文摘The ionospheric total-electron-content (TEC) data provided by the International GNSS Service (IGS) network and the VTEC data from the GPS reference stations of Crustal Movement Observational Network of China(CMONC) were processed and statistically analyzed to search for earthquake-related TEC anomalies prior to the 2011 magnitude 9.0 earthquake in Japan. Preliminary results showed that anomalous variations occurred 6-11 days and 0-4 days prior to the earthquake. 16Progress in satellite gravity recovery from implemented CHAMP,GRACE and GOCE and future GRACE Follow-On missions显示文摘Firstly,the Earth's gravitational field from the past Challenging Minisatellite Payload(CHAMP) mission is determined using the energy conservation principle,the combined error model of the cumulative geoid height influenced by three instrument errors from the current Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment(GRACE) and future GRACE Follow-On missions is established based on the semi-analytical method,and the Earth's gravitational field from the executed Gravity Field and Steady-State Ocean Circulation Explorer(GOCE) mission is recovered by the space-time-wise approach.Secondly,the cumulative geoid height errors are 1.727 × 10^(-1) m,1.839 × 10 ^(-1) m and 9.025 × 10^(-2) m at degrees 70,120 and 250 from the implemented three-stage satellite gravity missions consisting of CHAMP,GRACE and GOCE,which preferably accord with those from the existing earth gravity field models involving EIGEN-CHAMP03 S,EIGEN-GRACE02 S and GO_CONS_GCF_2_DIR_R1.The cumulative geoid height error is 6.847 × 10^(-2) m at degree 250 from the future GRACE Follow-On mission.Finally,the complementarity among the four-stage satellite gravity missions including CHAMP,GRACE,GOCE and GRACE Follow-On is demonstrated contrastively.Zheng Wei Xu Houze 2015Geodesy and Geodynamics2015,6,4:8

18An iterative algorithm for solving ill-conditioned linear least squares problems显示文摘Linear Least Squares(LLS) problems are particularly difficult to solve because they are frequently ill-conditioned, and involve large quantities of data. Ill-conditioned LLS problems are commonly seen in mathematics and geosciences, where regularization algorithms are employed to seek optimal solutions. For many problems, even with the use of regularization algorithms it may be impossible to obtain an accurate solution. Riley and Golub suggested an iterative scheme for solving LLS problems. For the early iteration algorithm, it is difficult to improve the well-conditioned perturbed matrix and accelerate the convergence at the same time. Aiming at this problem, self-adaptive iteration algorithm(SAIA) is proposed in this paper for solving severe ill-conditioned LLS problems. The algorithm is different from other popular algorithms proposed in recent references. It avoids matrix inverse by using Cholesky decomposition, and tunes the perturbation parameter according to the rate of residual error decline in the iterative process. 19Detection of a half-microgal coseismic gravity change after the Ms7. 0 Lushan earthquake显示文摘Because only a small near-field coseismic gravity change signal remains after removal of noise from the accuracy of observations and the time and spatial resolution of the earth's surface gravity observation system,it is difficult to verify simulations of dislocation theory.In this study,it is shown that the GS15 gravimeter,located 99.5 km from the epicenter of the Ms7.0 Lushan earthquake on April 20,2013 at 08∶04 UTC+8,showed the influence of the earthquake from 2013-04-16 to 2013-04-26 after a time calibration,tide corrections,drift correction,period correction and relaxation correction were applied to its data.The post-seismic relaxation process of the spring in the gravimeter took approximately 430 minutes and showed a 2.5×10-8ms-2gravity change.After correcting for the relaxation process,it is shown that a coseismic gravity change of approximately+0.59±0.4×10-8ms-2was observed by the GS15 gravimeter;this agrees with the simulated gravity change of approximately 0.31×10-8ms-2.The rate of the coseismic gravity change and the coseismic vertical displacement,as measured by one-second and one-day sampling interval GPS units,is also consistent with the theoretical rate of change.Therefore,the GS15 gravimeter at the Pixian Station observed a coseismic gravity change after the Ms7.0 Lushan earthquake.This and similar measurements could be applied to test and confirm the theory used for these simulations.Wei Jin Zhao Bin Tan Hongbo Yu Dan Shen Chongyang Li Hui 2013Geodesy and Geodynamics2013,4,3:7
20Recent gravity changes in China Mainland显示文摘Based on results of the mobile gravity measurements of the Crustal Movement Observation Network of China and Digital Earthquake Observation Network of China, this paper shows the pattern of temporal gravity changes in China mainland on a time scale of 2-3 years since 1998, and gives an analysis of the patterns.
