| 1 | Analysis of status and countermeasures of cancer incidence and mortality in China显示文摘Cancer is the leading cause of human deaths in the world and produces serious economic burdens. On September 12, 2018, the academic journal A Cancer Journal for Clinicians published an article about the latest statistics of cancers worldwide, which provided a status report on the global burden of 36 cancers in 185 countries worldwide. Cancer has also become a serious public health problem in China and caused more and more attention of the government and people in recent years. | 2 | Optical property and spectroscopy studies on the selected lubricating oil in the terahertz range显示文摘The optical property and spectroscopy of selected kinds of lubricating oil are studied based on the terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) in the spectral range of 0.3-1.6 THz. The samples are classified by their characteristics via the near-infrared spectrum. The experimental results reveal that lubricating oil is more sensitive in the range of terahertz than in the near-infrared,and the specific kinds of lubricating oil can be identified according to their different spectral features in the terahertz range. | 3 | Structure of the spectrum of infinite dimensional Hamiltonian operators显示文摘This paper deals with the structure of the spectrum of infinite dimensional Hamiltonian operators.It is shown that the spectrum,the union of the point spectrum and residual spectrum,and the continuous spectrum are all symmetric with respect to the imaginary axis of the complex plane. | 4 | Different regional distribution of SLC25A13 mutations in Chinese patients with neonatal intrahepatic cholestasis显示文摘AIM: To investigate the differences in the mutation spectra of the SLC25A13 gene mutations from specific regions of China. METHODS: Genetic analyses of SLC25A13 mutations were performed in 535 patients with neonatal intrahepatic cholestasis from our center over eight years. Unrelated infants with at least one mutant allele were enrolled to calculate the proportion of SLC25A13 mutations in different regions of China. The boundary between northern and southern China was drawn at the historical border of the Yangtze River.RESULTS: A total of 63 unrelated patients (about 11% of cases with intrahepatic cholestasis) from 16 provinces or municipalities in China had mutations in the SLC25A13 gene, of these 16 (25%) were homozygotes, 28 (44%) were compound heterozygotes and 19 (30%) were heterozygotes. In addition to four well described common mutations (c.851_854del, c.1638_1660dup23, c.615+5G>A and c.1750+72_17514dup17insNM_138459.3:2667 also known as IVS16ins3kb), 13 other mutation types were identified, including three novel mutations: c.985_986insT, c.287T>C and c.1349A>G. According to the geographical division criteria, 60 mutant alleles were identified in patients from the southern areas of China, 43 alleles were identified in patients from the border, and 4 alleles were identified in patients from the northern areas of China. The proportion of four common mutations was higher in south region (56/60, 93%) than that in the border region (34/43, 79%, χ 2 = 4.621, P = 0.032) and the northern region (2/4, 50%, χ 2 = 8.288, P = 0.041). | 5 | Research on the slope spectrum of the Loess Plateau显示文摘A new concept dealing with digital analysis of loess terrain,slope spectrum,is presented and discussed in this paper,by introducing its characteristic,represen-tation and extracting method from DEMs. Using 48 geomorphological units in dif-ferent parts of the loess as test areas and 5 m-resolution DEMs as original test data,the quantitative depiction and spatial distribution of slope spectrum in China's Loess Plateau have been studied on the basis of a series of carefully-designed experiments. In addition,initial experiment indicates a strong relationship between the slope spectrum and the loess landform types,displaying a potential importance of the slope spectrum in geomorphological studies. Based on the slope spectrums derived from the 25 m-resolution DEM data in whole loess terrain in northern part of Shaanxi,13 slope spectrum indices were extracted and integrated into a compre-hensive layer with image integration method. Based on that,a series of unsuper-vised classifications was applied in order to make a landform classification in northern Shaanxi Loess Plateau. Experimental results show that the slope spec-trum analysis is an effective method in revealing the macro landform features. A continuous change of slope spectrum from south to north in northern Shaanxi Loess Plateau shows an obvious spatial distribution of different loess landforms. | 6 | Investigation of changes in properties of water under the action of a magnetic field显示文摘The properties of water and their changes under the action of a magnetic field were gathered by the spectrum techniques of infrared, Raman, visible, ultraviolet and X-ray lights, which may give an insight into molecular and atomic structures of water. It was found that some properties of water were changed, and a lot of new and strange phenomena were discovered after magnetization. Magnetized water really has magnetism, which has been verified by a peak shift of X-ray diffraction of magnetized water + Fe3O4 hybrid relative to that of pure water + Fe3O4 hybrid, that is a saturation and memory effect. The properties of infrared and ultraviolet absorp-tions, Raman scattering and X-ray diffraction of magnetized water were greatly changed relative to those of pure water; their strengths of peaks were all increased, the frequencies of some peaks did also shift, and some new peaks, for example, at 5198, 8050 and 9340 cm?1, occurred at 25℃ after water was magnetized. In the meanwhile, the magnetized effects of water are related to the magnetized time, the intensity of an externally applied magnetic field, and the temperature of water, but they are not a linear relationship. The study also showed a lot of new and unusual properties of magnetized water, for example, the six peaks in 3000-3800 cm?1 in infrared absorption, the exponential increase of ultraviolet absorption of wave with the decreasing wavelength of light of 200-300 nm, the frequency-shifts of peaks, a strange irreversible effect in the increasing and decreasing processes, as well as a stronger peak of absorption occurring at 50℃, 70℃ and 80℃, the existence of many models of motion from 85℃ to 95℃ in 8000-10000 cm?1, and so on. These results show that the molecular structure of water is very complicated, which needs further study. Furthermore, the macroscopic feature of mechanics, for instance, surface tension force of magnetized water, was also measured. Experiments dis-covered that the size in contact angles of magnetized water on the surface of hy-drophobic materials decreases, thus the surface tension force of magnetized water decreases relative to that of pure water. It is seen from the above results that the clustering structure of hydrogen-bonded chains and polarization effects of water molecules are enhanced after magnetization. | 8 | Environmental variability study on the measured responses of Runyang Cablestayed Bridge using wavelet packet analysis显示文摘The structural damage alarming method based on wavelet packet energy spectrum (WPES) for long-span cable-stayed bridges is presented through combination of ambient vibration test and wavelet packet analysis. The environmental variability in the measured WPES and damage alarming indices ERVD of the Runyang Cable-stayed Bridge are discussed in detail using the wavelet packet analysis of the measured acceleration responses of the bridge under daily environmental conditions. The analysis results reveal that the actual environmental conditions including traffic loadings, environmental temperature and typhoon loadings have remarkable correlations with the measured WPES. The changes of environmental temperature have a long-term trend influence on the WPES, while the influences of traffic and typhoon loadings on the measured WPES of the bridge present instantaneous changes because of the nonstationary properties of the loadings. The analysis results of the measured responses further reveal that the damage alarming indices ERVD can sensitively reflect the influences of environmental temperature and typhoon loadings on the dynamic properties of Runyang Cable-stayed Bridge. | 12 | Optical whispering-gallery mode barcodes for high-precision and wide-range temperature measurements显示文摘Temperature is one of the most fundamental physical properties to characterize various physical,chemical,and biological processes.Even a slight change in temperature could have an impact on the status or dynamics of a system.Thus,there is a great need for high-precision and large-dynamic-range temperature measurements.Conventional temperature sensors encounter difficulties in high-precision thermal sensing on the submicron scale.Recently,optical whispering-gallery mode(WGM)sensors have shown promise for many sensing applications,such as thermal sensing,magnetic detection,and biosensing.However,despite their superior sensitivity,the conventional sensing method for WGM resonators relies on tracking the changes in a single mode,which limits the dynamic range constrained by the laser source that has to be fine-tuned in a timely manner to follow the selected mode during the measurement.Moreover,we cannot derive the actual temperature from the spectrum directly but rather derive a relative temperature change.Here,we demonstrate an optical WGM barcode technique involving simultaneous monitoring of the patterns of multiple modes that can provide a direct temperature readout from the spectrum.The measurement relies on the patterns of multiple modes in the WGM spectrum instead of the changes of a particular mode.It can provide us with more information than the single-mode spectrum,such as the precise measurement of actual temperatures.Leveraging the high sensitivity of WGMs and eliminating the need to monitor particular modes,this work lays the foundation for developing a high-performance temperature sensor with not only superior sensitivity but also a broad dynamic range. | Jie Liao Lan Yang | 2021 | Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,2: | 15 |
| 13 | ENSO signals and their spatial-temporal variation characteristics recorded by the sea-level changes in the northwest Pacific margin during 1965-2005显示文摘Sea-level is closely linked to the Earth's climate and its change is important as a metric for global and regional climate change. Identifying, extracting, and revealing such information through detailed analysis is the prerequisite for understanding the mechanisms of sea-level change. The monthlyaverage tide-change records reported and examined in this paper are from 10 tide gauge stations distributed in the northwest margin of the Pacific Ocean, registered during the period 1965-2005. In particular, we have utilized the Second Order Blind Identification (SOBI) method to identify and the Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) method to extract the El Nio-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) signals imprinted in those tide gauge records; and subsequently, we have investigated the spa-tial-temporal characteristics of the extracted ENSO signals using wavelet analysis methods. The following results are obtained: (1) the ENSO events recorded by each tide gauge series are of different types and intensity, which show considerable temporal-spatial variation characteristics, with sea-level responses to ENSO signals remarkably stronger in low latitude areas than in medium-high latitude areas; (2) due to the influences of ocean currents, topographical conditions, and other factors, there exist variations in the type of relationship between the sea-level changes and the recorded ENSO events at different latitudes; (3) sea-level changes can also denote scale-variation characteristics of ENSO events, and particularly, since 1980s, all the tide gauges located south of Kanmen show intense responses to ENSO and the timescale of ENSO events extended gradually from around 4 years to 2-8 years, reflecting variations in the intensity and frequency of ENSO events; and (4) reverse changes of certain scale were noted before and after strong ENSO events recorded by sea-level changes, supporting the research findings about the interaction (mutual coupling and superimposition) between the probability of occurrence of strong ENSO events and their time scale. | YUAN LinWang,YU ZhaoYuan,XIE ZhiRen,SONG ZhiYao & Lü GuoNian School of Geographical Science,Nanjing Normal University,Nanjing 210046,China | 2009 | Science China Earth Sciences2009,52,6: | 14 |

| 15 | Water contents and deformation mechanism in ductile shear zone of middle crust along the Red River fault in southwestern China显示文摘Using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), we measured water contents of quartz and feldspar for four thin sections of felsic mylonite and two thin sections of banded granitic gneiss col- lected from a ductile shear zone of middle crust along the Red Rivers-Ailaoshan active fault. The ab- sorbance spectra and peak position suggest that water in quartz and feldspar of granitic gneiss and felsic mylonite occurs mainly as hydroxyl in crystal defect, but also contains inclusion water and grain boundary water. The water contents of minerals were calculated based on the absorbance spectra. Water content of feldspar in granitic gneiss is 0.05 wt%-0.15 wt%, and that of quartz 0.03 wt%-0.09 wt%. Water content of feldspar ribbon and quartz ribbon in felsic mylonite is 0.095 wt%-0.32 wt%, and those of fine-grained feldspar and quartz are 0.004 wt%-0.052 wt%. These data show that the water content of weakly deformed feldspar and quartz ribbons is much higher than that of strongly deformed fine-grained feldspar and quartz. The underlying philosophy of the method is that,in random test(Monte Carlo) cross-validation,the probability of outliers presenting in good models with smaller prediction residual error sum of squares(PRESS) or in bad models with larger PRESS should be obviously different from normal samples. The method builds a large number of PLS models by using random test cross-validation at first,then the models are sorted by the PRESS,and at last the outliers are recognized according to the accumulative probability of each sample in the sorted models. | 17 | Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein-IgG Contributes to Oligodendrocytopathy in the Presence of Complement, Distinct from Astrocytopathy Induced by AQP4-IgG显示文摘Immunoglobulin G against myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein(MOG-Ig G) is detectable in neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder(NMOSD) without aquaporin-4 Ig G(AQP4-Ig G), but its pathogenicity remains unclear.In this study, we explored the pathogenic mechanisms of MOG-Ig G in vitro and in vivo and compared them with those of AQP4-Ig G. MOG-Ig G-positive serum induced complement activation and cell death in human embryonic kidney(HEK)-293 T cells transfected with human MOG. In C57 BL/6 mice and Sprague-Dawley rats, MOG-Ig G only caused lesions in the presence of complement. Interestingly, AQP4-Ig G induced astroglial damage, while MOGIg G mainly caused myelin loss. MOG-Ig G also induced astrocyte damage in mouse brains in the presence ofcomplement. Importantly, we also observed ultrastructural changes induced by MOG-Ig G and AQP4-Ig G. These findings suggest that MOG-Ig G directly mediates cell death by activating complement in vitro and producing NMOSDlike lesions in vivo. | 18 | Efficient spectrum prediction and inverse design for plasmonic waveguide systems based on artificial neural networks显示文摘In this paper, we propose a novel approach to achieve spectrum prediction, parameter fitting, inverse design, and performance optimization for the plasmonic waveguide-coupled with cavities structure(PWCCS) based on artificial neural networks(ANNs). The Fano resonance and plasmon-induced transparency effect originated from the PWCCS have been selected as illustrations to verify the effectiveness of ANNs. We use the genetic algorithm to design the network architecture and select the hyperparameters for ANNs. Once ANNs are trained by using a small sampling of the data generated by the Monte Carlo method, the transmission spectra predicted by the ANNs are quite approximate to the simulated results. The physical mechanisms behind the phenomena are discussed theoretically, and the uncertain parameters in the theoretical models are fitted by utilizing the trained ANNs.More importantly, our results demonstrate that this model-driven method not only realizes the inverse design of the PWCCS with high precision but also optimizes some critical performance metrics for the transmission spectrum.
