Development of Finite Element Limiting Analysis Method and Its Applications in Geotechnical Engineering显示文摘The Finite Element Limiting Analysis Method(LELAM) has the advantage of combining a numerical analysis method with traditional limiting equilibrium methods. It is particularly applicable to the analysis and design of geotechnical engineering. In the early 20th century,FELAM has been developed vigorously in domestic geotechnical engineering over international common finite element procedures. It has made great achievements in basic theory research and computational precision, thus broadening the application fields in practical projects. In order to gradually make innovations in geotechnical design methods, some of our research results are presented, mainly including geotechnical safety factor definitions, the principles for use of the method concerned, the overall failure criterion, the deduction and selection of the yield criterion, and the measurement to improve the computational precision,etc..The application field has been broadened from two-dimensional to three-dimensional,from soil slope to jointed rock slope and foundation, from stable seepage to non-stable seepage, from slope and foundation to tunnel. This method has also been used in search of many hidden sliding surfaces of complex landslides, conducting the structural support design considering the interaction between the soil and the structure, and computing simulation foundation bearing plates load tests,etc..Zheng Yingren1,Deng Chujian1,Zhao Shangyi1,Tang Xiangsong1,Liu Mingwei1,Zhang Liming2(1 Department of Civil Engineering,Logistical Engineering University,Chongqing 400041,China 2 Department of Science and Information Engineering,Qingdao Technological University,Qingdao 266033,China) 2007工程科学(英文版)2007,5,3:27
Inverted internal limiting membrane flap technique for very large macular hole显示文摘AIM: To assess the anatomical and visual outcome of idiopathic macular holes greater than 1000 μm using the inverted internal limiting membrane flap technique.METHODS: This retrospective case series included 5 eyes of 5 patients with idiopathic macular hole with base diameter greater than 1000 μm who underwent inverted internal limiting membrane flap technique along with standard 23 G pars plans vitrectomy with posterior hyaloid detachment and fluid gas exchange with 12%-14% perfluoropropane(C3F8). Preoperative and postoperative visual acuity and spectral domain optical coherence tomography images were evaluated. The main outcome measures were visual outcome and macular hole closure.RESULTS: Mean age was 63.2±8.4y with all 5 subjects being females. Mean duration of symptoms was 11±14 mo with a mean postoperative follow up of 13.2 ±13 mo. The mean base diameter of the macular holes was 1420±84.8 μm(1280-1480 μm). Type 1 closure was achieved in four out of five patients, while one patient had type 2 closure using the inverted internal limiting membrane(ILM) flap technique. Median baseline BCVA was 0.79 log MAR(Snellen's equivalent 20/120) and median final BCVA0.6 log MAR(Snellen's equivalent 20/80) with mean visual improvement of approximately three lines improvement. No complications related to surgical procedure were noted.CONCLUSION: The inverted internal limiting membrane flap technique may be promising for very large macular holes with high rate of macular closure and good visual outcome.Mitali Khodani Pooja Bansal Raja Narayanan Jay Chhablani 2016International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2016,9,8:11
Nonlinear optical properties of graphene-based materials显示文摘Graphene,a two-dimensional carbon atom sheet, has attracted tremendous attention and research interest because of its exceptional physical properties.Graphene has high mobility and optical transparency,in addition to flexibility, robustness and environmental stability. The main focus so far has been on fundamental physics and electronic devices. However, because the linear dispersion of the Dirac electrons enables ultrawideband tunability,we believe its true potential lies in photonics and optoelectronics. In this review,we introduce recent advances in the nonlinear optical properties of graphene-based materials. The rise of graphene in nonlinear optics is shown by several recent results, ranging from saturable absorbers and the four-wave mixing effect to giant two-photon absorption, reverse saturable absorption and optical limiting. The relevant forms of the graphene-based materials include pure graphene, graphene oxide and graphene hybrids.LIU ZhiBo ZHANG XiaoLiang YAN XiaoQing CHEN YongSheng TIAN JianGuo 2012Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,23:10
Analytical theory of flexural behavior of concrete beam reinforced with textile-combined steel显示文摘Textile-reinforced concrete (TRC) is a new high performance cementitious composite material, which not only has superior corrosion resistance but also can effectively limit the development of concrete cracks and make the crack width and spacing of concrete become smaller. However, due to the brittle feature of fiber materials, the TRC structural member has no distinct failure symptom when it arrives at its ultimate load.At the same time, ordinary reinforced concrete (RC) elements have large dead weight and can not efficiently restrict the expansion of the main crack of structures because of the restriction of their special cover thickness. In order to overcome the disadvantages of both the TRC and the RC,a new architecture reinforced with textile-combined steel is proposed in this study, making full use of the advantages of the above two structures. The cover concrete at the tension zone of an RC element is partially replaced with TRC and thus the steel reinforcements replaced with textiles are subtracted.Compared with the old one,the new structure has less dead weight and has the merits of service safety and good durability. The flexural development process of the proper beam with this new structure is investigated in this paper and based on the plane section assumption, analytical equations are derived by using nonlinear analysis theory, including the load-carrying capacity at different stages and moment-curvature relationship and mid-span deflection during the entire loading process.Comparison between the calculated and the experimental results reveals satisfactory agreement and thus verifies the feasibility of the equations.XU ShiLang & YIN ShiPing Department of Civil Engineering,Dalian University of Technology,Dalian 116024,China 2010Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,6:10
Identifying the limiting factors driving the winter wheat yield gap on smallholder farms by agronomic diagnosis in North China Plain显示文摘North China Plain(NCP) is the primary winter wheat production region in China, characterized by smallholder farming systems. Whereas the winter wheat average yield of smallholder farmers is currently low, the yield potential and limiting factors driving the current yield gap remain unclear. Therefore, increasing the wheat yield in NCP is essential for the national food security. This study monitored wheat yield, management practices and soil nutrient data in 132 farmers’ fields of Xushui County, Baoding City, Hebei Province during 2014–2016. These data were analyzed using variance and path analysis to determine the yield gap and the contribution of yield components(i.e., spikes per hectare, grain number per spike and 1 000-grain weight) to wheat yield. Then, the limiting factors of yield components and the optimizing strategies were identified by a boundary line approach. The results showed that the attainable potential yield for winter wheat was 10 514 kg ha^–1. The yield gaps varied strongly between three yield groups(i.e., high, middle and low), which were divided by yield level and contained 44 farmers in each group, and amounted to 2 493, 1 636 and 814 kg ha^–1, respectively. For the three yield components, only spikes per hectare was significantly different(P<0.01) among the three yield groups. For all 132 farmers’ fields, correlation between yield and spikes per hectare(r=0.51, P<0.01), was significantly positive, while correlations with grain number per spike(r=–0.16) and 1 000-grain weight(r=–0.10) were not significant. The path analysis also showed that the spikes per hectare of winter wheat were the most important component to the wheat yield. Boundary line analysis showed that seeding date was the most limiting factor of spikes per hectare with the highest contribution rate(26.7%), followed by basal N input(22.1%) and seeding rate(14.5%), which indicated that management factors in the seeding step were the most important for affecting spikes per hectare. For desired spikes per hectare(>6.598×10^6 ha^–1),the seeding rate should range from 210–300 kg ha^–1, seeding date should range from 3th to 8th October, and basal N input should range from 90–180 kg ha^–1. Compared to these reasonable ranges of management measures, most of the farmers’ practices were not suitable, and both lower and higher levels of management existed. It is concluded that the strategies for optimizing yield components could be achieved by improving wheat seeding quality and optimizing farmers’ nutrient management practices in the NCP.CAO Hong-zhu LI Ya-nan CHEN Guang-feng CHEN Dong-dong QU Hong-rui MA Wen-qi 2019Journal of Integrative Agriculture2019,18,8:9
On the boundary slip of fluid flow显示文摘This paper presents a stress controlled boundary slip model and predicts the fluid-solid interface slip in a system of parallel sliding plates or a sphere approaching a smooth plane. The numerical simulation results are in striking agreement with the existing experimental observations. This model assumes that there is a limiting shear stress. No slip occurs if the surface shear stress is smaller than the limiting shear stress, and slip occurs when the surface shear stress equals it. It is found that boundary slip dramatically decreases the hydrodynamic pressure if the two squeezed surfaces have the same slip property. Finally, the hydrodynamic force reaches a saturation status and almost does not decrease any more. Compared with the no-slip solution, hydrodynamic force is found to decrease by over two orders in the case of boundary slip. When the squeezed surfaces have different slip properties, however, the hydrodynamic pressure is mainly controlled by the surface having a smaller surface limiting shear stress, and reduces more slowly compared with the case of two surfaces having the same slip property. Even when one of the surfaces has a zero surface limiting shear stress, a considerable hydrodynamic force still exists.WU Chengwei MA Guojun 2005Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2005,48,2:8
Nogo-A and the regulation of neurotransmitter receptors显示文摘Nogo-A is known to restrict plasticity in the adult central nervous system, and signalling through its cognate receptors modulates synaptic spine architecture and excitatory glutamate transmission via restricting synaptic glutamate receptor levels and their delivery to the post-synaptic compartments.A recent report now indicates that Nogo-A,signaling through Sphingosine-1-Phosphate Receptor 2,also strengthens inhibitory gamma amino acid butyric acid(GABA)ergic transmission by limiting the diffusion dynamics of GABAA receptors. This reciprocal modulation of excitatory and inhibitory signaling via neurotransmitter receptor dynamics by Nogo-A likely plays important pathophysiological roles in synaptic plasticity during development and injury.Bor Luen Tang 2020Neural Regeneration Research2020,15,11:7
Predictors of visual outcome in eyes with choroidal neovascularization secondary to age related macular degeneration treated with intravitreal bevacizumab monotherapy显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the predictors of visual improvement in eyes with naive choroidal neovascularization secondary to age-related macular degeneration (CNV -AMD) treated with intravitreal bevacizumab (IVB) monotherapy. METHODS:Fifty eyes with naive CNV-AMD with pretreatment best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) better than 20/200 and treated with IVB monotherapy were evaluated. Several variables including age, sex, pre-treatment BCVA, CNV type and lesion size on fluorescein angiogram as well as SD-OCT parameters including pre-treatment central macular thickness (CMT), inner-segment/outer-segment (IS/OS) junction integrity, and external limiting membrane (ELM) integrity were analyzed to predict visual outcome.RESULTS:On univariate regression, pretreatment ELM damage was associated with less visual improvement after treatment (P =0.0145). However, ELM damage predicted only 10% of the visual outcome. On multivariate regression, pretreatment BCVA, IS/OS junction, and ELM integrity on SD-OCT were the significant predictors for the treatment effect and together predicted 37% of visual improvement. CONCLUSION:Pretreatment BCVA, ELM and IS/OS junction integrity on SD-OCT are of significant value inpredicting the visual improvement in naive wet AMD patients treated with IVB monotherapy.Jay Chhablani Jae SukKim William R Freeman Igor Kozak Hai-Yan Wang Lingyun Cheng 2013International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2013,6,1:6
Binocular fusion in Panum's limiting case of stereopsis obeys the uniqueness constraint显示文摘In the information processing procedure of stereo vision, theuniqueness constraint has been used as one of the constraints to solve the 'correspondence problem'. While the uniqueness constraint is valid in most cases, whether it is still valid in some particular stimulus configuration (such as Panum's limiting case) has been a problem of widespread debate for a long time. To investigate the problem, we adopted the Panum's limiting case as its basic stimulus configuration, and delved into the phenomenon of binocular fusion from two distinct aspects: visual direction and orientation disparity. The results show that in Panum's limiting case binocular fusion does not comply with the rules governing regular binocular fusion as far as visual direction and orientation disparity are concerned. This indicates that double fusion does not happen in Panum's limiting case and that the uniqueness constraint is still valid.王志宏 吴新年 倪睿 汪云九 2001Science China(Life Sciences)2001,44,1:5
PpERF3 positively regulates ABA biosynthesis by activating PpNCED2/3 transcription during fruit ripening in peach显示文摘The plant hormone ethylene regulates ripening in climacteric fruits. The phytohormone abscisic acid(ABA)affects ethylene biosynthesis, but whether ethylene influences ABA biosynthesis is unknown. To explore this possibility,we investigated the interactions between the ABA biosynthesis genes PpNCED2/3 and the ethylene response transcription factor PpERF3 in peach fruit. The ABA content increased during fruit maturation and reached a peak at stage S4 III.The increase was greatly inhibited by the ethylene inhibitor 1-MCP,which also suppressed PpERF3 expression.PpERF3 shared a similar expression profile with PpNCED2/3,encoding a rate-limiting enzyme involved in ABA biosynthesis, during fruit ripening.A yeast one-hybrid assay suggested that the nuclear-localized PpERF3 might bind to the promoters of PpNCED2/3.PpERF3 increased the expression of PpNCED2/3 as shown by dual-luciferase reporters,promoter-GUS assays and transient expression analyses in peach fruit.Collectively, these results suggest that ethylene promotes ABA biosynthesis through PpERF3’s regulation of the expression of ABA biosynthesis genes PpNCED2/3.Xiaobei Wang Wenfang Zeng Yifeng Ding Yan Wang Liang Niu Jia-Long Yao Lei Pan Zhenhua Lu Guochao Cui Guohuai Li Zhiqiang Wang 2019Horticulture Research2019,6,1:5
Protonation effect on the nonlinear absorption, nonlinear refraction and optical limiting properties of tetraphenylporphyrin显示文摘Nonlinear optical properties of tetraphenylporphyrin(H_2TPP) and protonated tetraphenylporphyrin(H_4TPP^(2+)) in toluene were investigated by Z-scan technique using a nanosecond laser with 5 ns pulse at 532 nm.Results show that H_4TPP^(2+) exhibits weaker nonlinear refraction but enhanced reverse saturable absorption(RSA) and optical limiting performance in comparison with pristine H_2TPP.Since no nonlinear scattering is observed in H_4TPP^(2+) under low input fluence, and H_4TPP^(2+) exhibits weaker nonlinear scattering signals than H_2TPP under high input fluence, the enhancement of RSA and optical limiting performance can be attributed to the larger ratio of excited state absorption cross-section to that of the ground state of H_4TPP^(2+).H_4TPP^(2+) also exhibits superior optical limiting performance, even better than the benchmark RSA material C_(60).张校亮 陈小红 2019Optoelectronics Letters2019,15,2:4
Synthesis of N-acetamide C_(60) nitride and its performance of optical limiting显示文摘N-acetamide C60 nitride (N-acetamide-1,2-dihydro-1,2-aza-fullerene[60]) has been synthesized by the reaction of C60 and azidoacetamide and initially characterized. Its mechanism was that the objective product is formed through intermediate triazoline. The computational study shows that N-nitride structure is thermodynamically more stable by using the semi-empirical AM1 SCF-MO method. The properties of optical limiting were tested by using double frequency Nd: YAG pulse laser system and showed that the optical limiting mechanism is reverse saturation absorption. At wavelength of 532 nm, compared with optical limiting for ns pulse, this new material has good optical limiting character for ps pulse. 13Eutrophication: a limiting nutrient is not necessarily an abating factor显示文摘Eutrophication and algal blooms are a global environmental problem. In terms of nutrient control of eutrophic waters, there is still a heated debate on reducing P only or both P and N [1–3].The core question is whether algal communities are P-limited or N-limited or co-limited;the basic assumption is that limiting nutrients are those which should be reduced (2)But, is the assumption really true? The law of limiting factors (so-called Liebig’s Law of the Minimum) was first formed by Sprengel in 1828 in essence. 14Anatomic and functional results of idiopathic macular epiretinal membrane surgery显示文摘AIM: To assess the impact of macular surgery on the functional and anatomic outcomes in patients with grade 2 epiretinal membrane(ERM), and the effect of internal limiting membrane(ILM) peeling on visual acuity and to analyze the long-term effect of pars plana vitrectomy(PPV) on intraocular pressure(IOP).METHODS: Pseudophakic eyes(62 eyes) diagnosed as idiopathic grade 2 ERM with at least 6 mo postoperative follow-up were included in this retrospective study. The fellow eye was nonvitrectomized. Patients were divided into two groups: group 1(29 eyes) treated with ERM and ILM peeling and group 2(33 eyes) with only ERM peeling. Preoperative and postoperative best corrected visual acuity(BCVA), slit-lamp, and a dilated fundus examination was performed. IOP was measured with Goldman applanation tonometer before, day 1 and first week and each visit after surgery. The incidence of significant IOP elevation was compared between vitrectomized eyes and nonvitrectomized fellow eyes.RESULTS: Visual improvement was statistically significant and similar in both groups(P=0.008 in group 1, P=0.002 in group 2, P=0.09 inter-group). The amount of decrease in central macular thickness was statistically significant and similar in both groups(P=0.005 group 1, P=0.008 group 2, P=0.37 intergroup). At the final follow-up(14.1±9.6 mo) the incidence of significant IOP elevation was 4% in vitrectomized eyes(three eyes) and 3%(two eyes) in the nonvitrectomized fellow eyes(P=0.12). Four eyes(12.1%) had recurrent ERM after a mean follow-up of 8.6±1.1 mo in group 2, there was no recurrence in group 1(P=0.01).CONCLUSION: Recurrence of ERM may be decreased by ILM peeling during ERM surgery. However, it seems that ILM peeling do not affect the functional outcome and 23-gauge PPV alone do not have a significant effect on IOP.Mehmet Ozgur Cubuk Erkan Unsal 2020International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2020,13,4:3
Hydrodynamics of slip wedge and optimization of surface slip property显示文摘The hydrodynamic load support generated by a slip wedge of a slider bearing was studied. The surface slip property was optimized so that a maximum hydrodynamic load support could be obtained. A multi-linearity method was given for the slip control equation of two-dimensional (2-D) wall slip. We investigated 2-D wall slip and the hydrodynamics of a finite length bearing with any values of the surface limiting shear stress. It was found that the hydrodynamic effect of the slip wedge is greater than the traditional geometrical convergent-wedge. Even though the geo- metrical gap is a parallel or divergent sliding gap, the slip wedge still gives rise to a very big hydrodynamic pressure. The optimized slip wedge can give rise to a hy- drodynamic load support as high as 2.5 times of what the geometrical conver- gent-wedge can produce. Wall slip usually gives a small surface friction.MA GuoJun WU ChengWei ZHOU Ping 2007Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2007,50,3:3
Combine intravitreal bevacizumab with Nd: YAG laser hyaloidotomy for valsalva pre-macular haemorrhage and observe the internal limiting membrane changes: a spectralis study显示文摘Valsalva retinopathy was described as a particular form of retinopathy, pre-retinal and subinternal limiting membrane haemorrhages in nature that rarely may break through and become subhyloid or intravitreal, secondary to a sudden increase in intrathoracic pressure. We reported a new way that Nd:YAG laser for ILM hyaloidotomy in order to drain the sub-ILM blood into vitreous cavity combined with intravitreal bevacizumab to improve the absorption of blood. 20Theoretical analysis of the limiting rate of phreatic evaporation for aeolian sandy soil in Taklimakan Desert显示文摘Phreatic evaporation is a great lose for shallow groundwater in the Taklimakan Desert. Given soil type and groundwater table, the limiting rate of phreatic evaporation is defined as the maximum of water transferred from groundwater to soil surface per unit time, which is a key parameter and control condition for phreatic evaporation model developing. The soil water characteristic curve for the aeolian sandy soil in the Taklimakan Desert was fitted with the least square method based on the formula of soil moisture characteristics curve proposed by Van Genuchten, using observed soil moisture and soil water suction data. The unsaturated hydraulic conductivity was determined by the instantaneous profile method in situ and the calculation formula for unsaturated hydraulic conductivity was established. According to the steady flow theory, the quasi-analytical solution of limiting rate of phreatic evaporation was derived on the basis of generalization of the formula of unsaturated hydraulic conductivity. The results show that the soil moisture characteristics in the Taklimakan Desert can be well described by Van Genuchten’s formula, and the limiting rate of phreatic evaporation declines by power function with the descending of groundwater table.HU ShunJun LEI JiaQiang XU XinWen SONG YuDong TIAN ChangYan CHEN XiaoBin LI XiuChang 2008Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,S2:2
