1Antibacterial metals and alloys for potential biomedical implants显示文摘Metals and alloys,including stainless steel,titanium and its alloys,cobalt alloys,and other metals and alloys have been widely used clinically as implant materials,but implant-related infection or inflammation is still one of the main causes of implantation failure.The bacterial infection or inflammation that seriously threatens human health has already become a worldwide complaint.Antibacterial metals and alloys recently have attracted wide attention for their long-term stable antibacterial ability,good mechanical properties and good biocompatibility in vitro and in vivo.In this review,common antibacterial alloying elements,antibacterial standards and testing methods were introduced.Recent developments in the design and manufacturing of antibacterial metal alloys containing various antibacterial agents were described in detail,including antibacterial stainless steel,antibacterial titanium alloy,antibacterial zinc and alloy,antibacterial magnesium and alloy,antibacterial cobalt alloy,and other antibacterial metals and alloys.Researches on the antibacterial properties,mechanical properties,corrosion resistance and biocompatibility of antibacterial metals and alloys have been summarized in detail for the first time.It is hoped that this review could help researchers understand the development of antibacterial alloys in a timely manner,thereby could promote the development of antibacterial metal alloys and the clinical application.Erlin Zhang Xiaotong Zhao Jiali Hu Ruoxian Wang Shan Fu Gaowu Qin 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,8:13
2Recent development of chemically complex metallic glasses: from accelerated compositional design, additive manufacturing to novel applications显示文摘Metallic glasses(MGs)or amorphous alloys are an important engineering material that has a history of research of about 80–90 years.While different fast cooling methods were developed for multi-component MGs between 1960s and 1980s,1990s witnessed a surge of research interest in the development of bulk metallic glasses(BGMs).Since then,one central theme of research in the metallic-glass community has been compositional design that aims to search for MGs with a better glass forming ability,a larger size and/or more interesting properties,which can hence meet the demands from more important applications.In this review article,we focus on the recent development of chemically complex MGs,such as high entropy MGs,with new tools that were not available or mature yet until recently,such as the state-of-the-art additive manufacturing technologies,high throughput materials design techniques and the methods for big data analyses(e.g.machine learning and artificial intelligence).We also discuss the recent use of MGs in a variety of novel and important applications,from personal healthcare,electric energy transfer to nuclear energy that plays a pivotal role in the battle against global warming.J Y Zhang Z Q Zhou Z B Zhang M H Park Q Yu Z Li J Ma A D Wang H G Huang M Song B S Guo Q Wang Y Yang 2022Materials Futures2022,1,1:1
