1Variations in the Lower Level of the PBL Associated with the Yellow Sea Fog-New Observations by L-Band Radar显示文摘The Chinese east coastal areas and marginal seas are foggy regions. The development of effective forecasting methods rests upon a comprehensive knowledge of the fog phenomena. This study provides new observations associated with the sea fogs over the northwestern Yellow Sea by means of L-band radar soundings with a high vertical resolution of 30 m. The monthly temperature lapse rate, the Richardson Numbers, and the humidity show obvious seasonal variations in the lower level of the planetary boundary layer (PBL) that are related to the onset, peak and end of the Yellow Sea fog season. The typical pattern of stratification for the sea fog season in the northwestern Yellow Sea is that a stable layer of about 400 m thick caps a 150 m conditionally unstable layer. Besides, the differences between fogs and stratus clouds in terms of humidity, turbulence and temperature are analyzed, which is of significance for sea fog forecast and detection by satellites. The thickness of the sea fogs varies in different stages of the fog season, and is associated with the temperature inversion. 3Settling behavior of non-spherical particles in power-law fluids:Experimental study and model development显示文摘Solid-particle settling occurs in many natural and industrial processes, such as in the transportation of drilling cuttings and fracturing proppant. Knowledge of the drag coefficient and settling velocity of cuttings and proppant is of significance to hydraulics design, wellbore cleanout, and fracture optimization. We conducted 553 tests to investigate the settling characteristics of spherical and non-spherical particles in power-law fluids. Three major particle shapes (spherical, cubic, and cylindrical) and eight different particle sphericities were used to simulate cuttings and proppant, and power-law fluids were applied to simulate drilling and fracturing fluids. Based on the data analysis, a new drag coefficient-particle Reynolds number correlation was developed to determine the drag coefficient in a power-law fluid for spherical and non-spherical particles. The drag coefficient increases as the sphericity decreases for the same particle Reynolds number. For a specific particle shape, the drag coefficient decreases as the particle Reynolds number increases, but the decreasing trend is reduced at high particle Reynolds number conditions. An explicit settling-velocity equation was proposed to calculate the settling velocity of spherical and non-spherical particles in power-law fluids by considering the effect of sphericity. A suitable range for the proposed model is 0.0001 < Re <200, 0.471 <φ< 1, and 0.505 < n < 1. 4Development of the general chapters of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia 2020 edition: A review显示文摘The Chinese Pharmacopoeia 2020 edition was reviewed and approved by the National Medical Products Administration and the National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China in July 2020.The current edition was officially implemented on December 30,2020.The general chapters of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia discuss the general testing methods and guidelines,which are the common requirements and basis for the implementation of drug standards in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia.Owing to adherence to the principles of scientificity,versatility,operability,and sustainable development,there is an improvement in the general chapters of the 2020 edition over those of the previous editions.Further,the application of advanced and mature analytical techniques has expanded,the development of testing methods for exogenous pollutants in traditional Chinese medicines has been strengthened,and technical requirements are now better harmonized with international standards.The updated edition provides technical and methodological support to ensure safety,effectiveness,and control of pharmaceuticals in China and will play an important and active role in encouraging the application of advanced technologies,improving the quality control of medicines,and strengthening the means of drug regulation in China.This review provides a comprehensive introduction of the main features of and changes to the general chapters in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia 2020 edition and aims to provide reference for its correct understanding and accurate implementation.Xinyi Xu Huayu Xu Yue Shang Ran Zhu Xiaoxu Hong Zonghua Song Zhaopeng Yang 2021Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2021,11,4:6
5A Numerical Study of the Effects of Coastal Geometry in the Bohai Sea on Storm Surges Induced by Cold-Air Outbreaks显示文摘Strom surges are not only determined by the atmospheric forcing,but also influenced by the coastal geometry and bathymetry.The Bohai Sea,as one of China’s marginal seas,is seriously harmed by storm surges,especially those caused by cold-air outbreaks.As the coastline of the Bohai Sea has changed evidently these years,storm surges may have new characteristics due to the changes in the local geometry.This paper aims to find out these new characteristics by primarily investigating the influence of the changes in the local geometry on storm surges with numerical methods.20 scenarios were constructed based on the track and inten-sity of the cold-air outbreaks to describe the actual situation.By analyzing the model results of the control scenarios,it is found that the main changes of the maximum surge elevation occur in the Bohai Bay and the Laizhou Bay.At the top of the Bohai Bay,the maximum surge elevation is obviously decreased,while in the Laizhou Bay,it is enhanced by the growing Yellow River Delta.This,however,does not suggest that the storm surges in the Laizhou Bay become more serious.A comparison of the risk assessment of storm surges in the Tanggu,Huanghua and Yangjiaogou regions shows that the risk of storm surges in these coastal areas is lightened by the evolvement of the coastal geometry.Particularly near Yangjiaogou,though the maximum surge elevation becomes higher to subject more areas to risk,the risk is still reduced by the evolvement of the Yellow River Delta.ZHAOPeng JIANG Wensheng 2011Journal of Ocean University of China2011,10,1:5
6Analysis of Frequency Characteristics and Sensitivity of Compliant Mechanisms显示文摘Based on a modified pseudo-rigid-body model,the frequency characteristics and sensitivity of the large-deformation compliant mechanism are studied.Firstly,the pseudo-rigid-body model under the static and kinetic conditions is modified to enable the modified pseudo-rigid-body model to be more suitable for the dynamic analysis of the compliant mechanism.Subsequently,based on the modified pseudo-rigid-body model,the dynamic equations of the ordinary compliant four-bar mechanism are established using the analytical mechanics.Finally,in combination with the finite element analysis software ANSYS,the frequency characteristics and sensitivity of the compliant mechanism are analyzed by taking the compliant parallel-guiding mechanism and the compliant bistable mechanism as examples.From the simulation results,the dynamic characteristics of compliant mechanism are relatively sensitive to the structure size,section parameter,and characteristic parameter of material on mechanisms.The results could provide great theoretical significance and application values for the structural optimization of compliant mechanisms,the improvement of their dynamic properties and the expansion of their application range.LIU Shanzeng DAI Jiansheng LI Aimin SUN Zhaopeng FENG Shizhe CAO Guohua 2016Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2016,29,4:5
7A 70 Gbps NRZ optical link based on 850 nm band-limited VCSEL for data-center intra-connects显示文摘Short-reach optical interconnects among servers in data centers have attracted extensive studies recently. High capacity and low cost are two key problems for optical link. In this paper, we demonstrate a band-limited 850 nm vertical cavity surface emitting laser(VCSEL) based optical transmission system. The optical link realizes 70 Gb/s(65 Gb/s net rate) non-return-to-zero(NRZ) signal transmission over 11 m and20 m OM4 multimode fiber(MMF), with the help of equalization for time domain interference elimination.The utilized VCSEL has a bandwidth of only 18 GHz, meeting the principle of low cost. 8Numerical simulation of spatial distributions of mining-induced stress and fracture fields for three coal mining layouts显示文摘In this study, the spatial distributions of stress and fracture fields for three typical underground coal mining layouts, i.e. non-pillar mining(NM), top-coal caving mining(TCM) and protective coal-seam mining(PCM), are modeled using discrete element software UDEC. The numerical results show that different mining layouts can lead to different mining-induced stress fields, resulting in diverse fracture fields. For the PCM, the mining influenced area in front of the mining faces is the largest, and the stress concentration factor in front of the mining faces is the lowest. The spatial shapes of the mining-induced fracture fields under NM, TCM and PCM differ, and they are characterized by trapezoidal, triangular and tower shapes, respectively. The fractal dimensions of mining-induced fractures of the three mining layouts decrease in the order of PCM, TCM and NM. It is also shown that the PCM can result in a better gas control effect in coal mines with high outburst potential. 9Experimental Study of Machinability in Millgrinding of SiCp/Al Composites显示文摘An attempt was made to investigate the machinability of Si Cp/Al composites based on the experimental study using mill-grinding processing method. The experiments were carried out on a high-speed CNC machining center using integrated abrasive cutting tool. The effects of combined machining parameters, e g, cutting speed(vs), feed rate(vf), and depth of cut(ap), with the same change of material removal rate(MRR) on the mill-grinding force and surface roughness(Ra) were investigated. The formation mechanism of typical machined surface defects was analyzed by SEM. The experimental results reveal that with the same change of material removal rate, lower mill-grinding force values can be gained by increasing depth of cut and feed rate simultaneously at higher cutting speed. With the same change of MRR value, lower surface roughness values can be gained by increasing the feed rate at higher cutting speed, rather than just increasing the depth of cut, or increasing the feed rate and depth of cut simultaneously. 10High-pressure phases of Weyl semimetals NbP, NbAs, TaP,and TaAs显示文摘In this study, we used the crystal structure search method and first-principles calculations to systematically explore the highpressure phase diagrams of the TaAs family(NbP, NbAs, TaP, and TaAs). Our calculation results show that NbAs and TaAs have similar phase diagrams, the same structural phase transition sequence I4_1 md→P6 m2→P2_1/c→Pm3 m, and slightly different transition pressures. The phase transition sequence of NbP and TaP differs somewhat from that of NbAs and TaAs, in which new structures emerge, such as the Cmcm structure in NbP and the Pmmn structure in TaP. 11Comparison and analysis of three estimation methods for soil carbon sequestration potential in the Ebinur Lake Wetland,China显示文摘Based on soil under seven vegetation types,the carbon sequestration potential in the Ebinur Lake wetland was estimated using the maximum value method,the saturation value method,and the classification and grading method.Results indicated that:1)Soil carbon sequestration results for the top 20 cm soil layer were about 1.88 Mt using the maximum value method;the middle level standard of the classification and grading method result was 1.71 Mt.2)Soil carbon sequestration potential in the top 20 cm layer under different vegetation types,evaluated using the saturation value method and the classificationgrading method,ranged from 0.45 to 0.67 Mt,accounting for about 5/16 of the ideal carbon sequestration potential.3)Carbon sequestration potential calculated using the saturation method and the classification method(middle level standard),combining the soil organic carbon increment under different vegetation types in Ebinur Lake wetland,recorded an average growth rate of soil organic carbon around 0.7-1 kg/(hm^2·a).Time required to reach its carbon sequestration potential was 41 to 144 a.These results indicate that soil organic carbon content dynamically changes,and different forms of land use affect soil organic carbon content.The potential and ability of soil carbon sequestration and its mechanism of dynamic change are investigated,providing a scientific basis for understanding regional carbon cycle and climate change in wetlands.Yonghui WANG Kexiang LIU Zhaopeng WU Li JIAO 2020Frontiers of Earth Science2020,14,1:2
12Improving Semantic Part Features for Person Re-identification with Supervised Non-local Similarity显示文摘In person re-IDentification (re-ID) task,the learning of part-level features benefits from fine-grained information.To facilitate part alignment,which is a prerequisite for learning part-level features,a popular approach is to detect semantic parts with the use of human parsing or pose estimation.Such methods of semantic partition do offer cues to good part alignment but are prone to noisy part detection,especially when they are employed in an off-the-shelf manner.In response,this paper proposes a novel part feature learning method for re-ID,that suppresses the impact of noisy semantic part detection through Supervised Non-local Similarity (SNS) learning.Given several detected semantic parts,SNS first locates their center points on the convolutional feature maps for use as a set of anchors and then evaluates the similarity values between these anchors and each pixel on the feature maps.The non-local similarity learning is supervised such that:each anchor should be similar to itself and simultaneously dissimilar to any other anchors,thus yielding the SNS.Finally,each anchor absorbs features from all of the similar pixels on the convolutional feature maps to generate a corresponding part feature (SNS feature).We evaluate our method with extensive experiments conducted under both holistic and partial re-ID scenarios.Experimental results confirm that SNS consistently improves re-ID accuracy using human parsing or pose estimation,and that our results are on par with state-of-the-art methods.Yifan Sun Zhaopeng Dou Yali Li Shengjin Wang 2020Tsinghua Science and Technology2020,25,5:2
13Evidence for a Dirac nodal-line semimetal in SrAs_3显示文摘Dirac nodal-line semimetals with the linear bands crossing along a line or loop, represent a new topological state of matter. Here, by carrying out magnetotransport measurements and performing first-principle calculations, we demonstrate that such a state has been realized in high-quality single crystals of SrAs_3.We obtain the nontrivial ∏ Berry phase by analysing the Shubnikov-de Haas quantum oscillations. 14Settling behavior of spherical particles in vertical annulus:Experimental study and model development显示文摘Coiled tubing(CT)drilling technology offers significant advantages in terms of cost and efficiency for exploitations of unconventional oil and gas resources.However,the development of CT drilling technol-ogy is restricted by cuttings accumulation in the wellbore due to non-rotation of the drill string and limited circulating capacity.Cuttings cleaning becomes more difficult with the wall resistance of pipe-wellbore annulus on the cutting transport.Accurate description of particle transport process in the pipe-wellbore annulus is,therefore,important for improving the wellbore cleanliness.In this study,high-speed cam-era is used to record and analyze the settling process of particles in the transparent annulus filled with power-law fluids.A total of 540 tests were carried out,involving dimensionless diameters of 0.10-0.95 and particle Reynolds Numbers of 0.01-12.97,revealing the effect of the dimensionless diameter and particle Reynolds number on the annulus wall effect,and the wall factor model with an average relative error of2.75%was established.In addition,a dimensionless parameter,Archimedes number,independent of the settling velocity,was introduced to establish an explicit model of the settling velocity of spherical particles in the vertical annulus,with the average relative error of 7.89%.Finally,a calculation example was provided to show how to use the explicit model of settling velocity in annulus.The results of this study are expected to provide guidance for field engineers to improve the wellbore cleanliness of coiled tubing drilling.Zhaopeng Zhu Mengmeng Zhou Xianzhi Song Shuo Zhu Gensheng Li Zhengming Xu Xuezhe Yao Buwen Yu 2022Particuology2022,20,9:2
15Covalent organic framework containing dual redox centers as an efficient anode in Li-ion batteries显示文摘Covalent organic frameworks(COFs)with periodic channels and tunable chemical structures have been widely considered as promising electrode materials in rechargeable batteries.However,the design and construction of high-performance COFs-based electrodes still face some challenges in the introduction of multiple efficient redox centers as well as the reduction of dead mass.To address these issues,a unique COF containing double active centers(C═N and N═N)is developed as an anode in rechargeable lithium-ion batteries(LIBs).The as-prepared COF displays excellent electrochemical performance due to its remarkable structural stability and the existence of many active groups.Meanwhile,its electrochemical performance is significantly better than that of the small molecule compound or the linear polymer with the same construction units.Even at a high current density of 5 A/g,the LIBs with COF electrodes remain at a high discharge capacity of 227 mAh/g after 2000 cycles.Moreover,the distinction in electrochemical performances of these three materials is further revealed by calculation.This study illustrates the importance of molecular structure design for improving the performance of organic electrodes.Yifan Tong Zhaopeng Sun Jiawen Wang Weiwei Huang Qichun Zhang 2022SmartMat2022,3,4:2

17Validation of reference genes for gene expression studies in the dinoflagellate Akashiwo sanguinea by quantitative real-time RT-PCR显示文摘The accurate measurement of gene expression via quantitative real-time reverse transcription PCR(q RT-PCR)heavily relies on the choice of valid reference gene(s) for data normalization. Resting cyst is the dormant stage in the life cycle of dinoflagellate, which plays crucial roles in HAB-forming dinoflagellate ecology. However, only limited investigations have been conducted on the reference gene selection in dinoflagellates. Gap remained in our knowledge about appropriate HKGs for normalizing gene expression in different life stages, which laid obstacles for the application of q RT-PCR to the HAB-forming group. In this study, six candidate reference genes,18 S ribosomal RNA(18S), glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase(GAPDH), α-tubulin(TUA), β-tubulin(TUB), actin(ACT) and cytochrome oxidase subunit 1(COX1), were evaluated for their expression stability with q RT-PCR and three statistical algorithms(Ge Norm, Norm Finder, and Best Keeper) for the cosmopolitan, harmful algal bloom-forming dinoflagellate Akashiwo sanguinea. Expression patterns were observed across 18 biological samples, including cells at resting stages(resting cysts), different growth stages, in darkness, exposed to abscisic acid(ABA) and exposed to temperature stress. The results indicated that TUA, 18 S and GAPDH were relatively stable across all tested scenarios. While the best-recommended reference genes differed across experimental groups, the pairs of ACT and TUA, 18 S and GAPDH were the most reliable for cells at different growth stages and darkness treatment. The combination of TUA and TUB was the best choice for normalization in resting cysts and in ABA treatment, respectively. The pair of ACT and COX1 was suitable for temperature treatments. This study was the first to investigate the stable internal reference genes in dinoflagellates at different stages of life cycle,particularly in resting cysts. 19The variations of the Martian exobase altitude显示文摘The exobase is defined as the interface between the strongly collisional and the collisionless parts of an atmosphere. Although in reality the exobase is a transition region of finite depth, it is conventionally defined as the boundary above which an upwardly ejected neutral particle makes one collision at higher altitudes. Such an idealized definition is of practical use and serves as a good tracer of the overall size of an atmosphere as it expands and contracts under the influences of both external and internal sources. Knowledge of the atmospheric properties near the exobase is crucial to first-order estimates of atmospheric escape rates on terrestrial planets. Since its arrival at Mars on 21 September 2014, the Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution (MAVEN) spacecraft has provided comprehensive maps of the Martian upper atmosphere under a variety of conditions. This allows, for the first time, a thorough investigation of the variations of the exobase altitude on this red planet. In this study, we use the N2 density measurements accumulated by MAVEN’s Neutral Gas and Ion Mass Spectrometer from October 2014 to November 2018 to determine the exobase altitudes for a large number of MAVEN orbits. Our analysis reveals clearly the variations of exobase altitude with local time and solar extreme ultraviolet (EUV) flux, as well as tentative evidence for the impact of global dust storms.
