2MicroRNAs as a potential prognostic factor in gastric cancer显示文摘AIM:To compare the microRNA (miR) profiles in the primary tumor of patients with recurrent and non-recurrent gastric cancer.METHODS:The study group included 45 patients who underwent curative gastrectomies from 1995 to 2005 without adjuvant or neoadjuvant therapy and for whom adequate tumor content was available.Total RNA was extracted from formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tumor samples,preserving the small RNA fraction.Initial profiling using miR microarrays was performed to identify potential biomarkers of recurrence after resection.The expression of the differential miRs was later verified by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR).Findings were compared between patients who had a recurrence within 36 mo of surgery (bad-prognosis group,n=14,31%) and those who did not (good-prognosis group,n=31,69%).RESULTS:Three miRs,miR-451,miR-199a-3p and miR-195 were found to be differentially expressed in tumors from patients with good prognosis vs patients with bad prognosis (P<0.0002,0.0027 and 0.0046 respectively).High expression of each miR was associated with poorer prognosis for both recurrence and survival.Using miR-451,the positive predictive value for non-recurrence was 100% (13/13).The expression of the differential miRs was verified by qRT-PCR,showing high correlation to the microarray data and similar separation into prognosis groups.CONCLUSION:This study identified three miRs,miR-451,miR-199a-3p and miR-195 to be predictive of recurrence of gastric cancer.Of these,miR-451 had the strongest prognostic impact.Baruch Brenner Moshe B Hoshen Ofer Purim Miriam Ben David Karin Ashkenazi Gideon Marshak Yulia Kundel Ronen Brenner Sara Morgenstern Marisa Halpern Nitzan Rosenfeld Ayelet Chajut Yaron Niv Michal Kushnir 2011World Journal of Gastroenterology2011,17,35:31
3Alcoholic liver disease:Utility of animal models显示文摘Alcoholic liver disease(ALD) is a major cause of acute and chronic liver injury. Extensive evidence has been accumulated on the pathological process of ALD during the past decades. However, effective treatment options for ALD are very limited due to the lack of suitable in vivo models that recapitulate the full spectrum of ALD. Experimental animal models of ALD, particularly rodents, have been used extensively to mimic human ALD. An ideal animal model should recapitulate all aspects of the ALD process, including significant steatosis, hepatic neutrophil infiltration, and liver injury. A better strategy against ALD depends on clear diagnostic biomarkers, accurate predictor(s) of its progression and new therapeutic approaches to modulate stop or even reverse the disease. Numerous models employing rodent animals have been established in the last decades to investigate the effects of acute and chronic alcohol exposure on the initiation and progression of ALD. Although significant progress has been made in gaining better knowledge on the mechanisms and pathology of ALD, many features of ALD are unknown, and require further investigation, ideally with improved animal models that more effectively mimic human ALD. 4Influence of unrecorded alcohol consumption on liver cirrhosis mortality显示文摘Unrecorded alcohol includes illegally distributed alcohol as well as homemade or surrogate alcohol which is unintended for consumption by humans(e.g.,cosmetics containing alcohol).The highest unrecorded alcohol consumption occurs in Eastern Europe and some of these countries have an over proportional liver cirrhosis mortality.Compounds besides ethanol have been hypothesized as being responsible for this observation.On the other hand,chemical investigations were unable to prove that unrecorded alcohol regularly contains contaminants above toxicological thresholds.However,illegally produced spirits regularly contain higher percentages of alcohol(above 45%by volume),but for considerably less costs compared with licit beverages,potentially causing more problematic patterns of drinking.In this review,it is investigated whether patterns of drinking rather than product composition can explain the liver cirrhosis mortality rates.Statistical examination of World Health Organization country data shows that the originally detected correlation of the percentage of unrecorded alcohol consumption and liver cirrhosis mortality rates disappears when the data is adjusted for the prevalence of heavy episodic drinking.It may be concluded that there is currently a lack of data to demonstrate causality between the composition of illicit spirits(e.g.,higher levels of certain contaminants in home-produced products)and liver toxicity on a population scale.Exceptions may be cases of poisoning with antiseptic liquids containing compounds such as polyhexamethyleneguanidine,which were reported to be consumed as surrogate alcohol in Russia,leading to an outbreak of acute cholestatic liver injury,histologically different from conventional alcoholic liver disease.Dirk W Lachenmeier Yulia B Monakhova Jürgen Rehm 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,23:10
5A 3D morphometric perspective for facial gender analysis and classification using geodesic path curvature features显示文摘The relationship between the shape and gender of a face, with particular application to automatic gender classification, has been the subject of significant research in recent years. Determining the gender of a face, especially when dealing with unseen examples, presents a major challenge. This is especially true for certain age groups, such as teenagers, due to their rapid development at this phase of life. This study proposes a new set of facial morphological descriptors,based on 3D geodesic path curvatures, and uses them for gender analysis. Their goal is to discern key facial areas related to gender, specifically suited to the task of gender classification. These new curvature-based features are extracted along the geodesic path between two biological landmarks located in key facial areas.Classification performance based on the new features is compared with that achieved using the Euclidean and geodesic distance measures traditionally used in gender analysis and classification. Five different experiments were conducted on a large teenage face database(4745 faces from the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children) to investigate and justify the use of the proposed curvature features. Our experiments show that the combination of the new features with geodesic distances provides a classification accuracy of 89%. 8SuperDARN CUTLASS Finland radar observations of high-latitude magnetic reconnections under northward interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) conditions显示文摘A number of backscatter power enhancement events with 'equatorward-moving radar auroral forms' in the high-latitude ionosphere were observed by SuperDARN CUTLASS Finland radar when the IMF was northward during 09:00 -10:00 UT on 26 March 2004. These events were also associated with sunward flow enhancements at each location in the Northern Hemisphere which were shown in ionospheric convections measured by the SuperDARN radars. These are typical features of high-latitude (lobe) magnetic reconnections. The durations of the velocity enhancements imply that the evolution time of the lobe reconnections is about 8-16 min from their origin at the reconnection site to their addition to the magnetotail lobe again. In additional, the Double Star TC-1 spacecraft was moving from magnetosheath into magnetosphere, and crossing the magnetopause near the subsolar region during this interval, and observed typical low-latitude magnetic reconnection signatures. 9MicroRNA Regulation in Extreme Environments: Differential Expression of MicroRNAs in the Intertidal Snail Littorina littorea During Extended Periods of Freezing and Anoxia显示文摘Several recent studies of vertebrate adaptation to environmental stress have suggested roles for microRNAs (miRNAs) in regulating glo- bal suppression of protein synthesis and/or restructuring protein expression patterns. The present study is the first to characterize stress-responsive alterations in the expression of miRNAs during natural freezing or anoxia exposures in an invertebrate species, the intertidal gastropod Littorina littorea. These snails are exposed to anoxia and freezing conditions as their environment constantly fluctuates on both a tidal and seasonal basis. The expression of selected miRNAs that are known to influence the cell cycle, cellular signaling pathways, carbohydrate metabolism and apoptosis was evaluated using RT-PCR. Compared to controls, significant changes in expression were observed for miR-1a-1, miR-34a and miR-29b in hepatopancreas and for miR-1a-1, miR-34a, miR-133a, miR-125b, miR-29b and miR-2a in foot muscle after freezing exposure at 6 °C for 24 h (P < 0.05). In addition, in response to anoxia stress for 24 h, significant changes in expression were also observed for miR-1a-1, miR-210 and miR-29b in hepatopancreas and for miR-1a-1, miR-34a, miR-133a, miR-29b and miR-2a in foot muscle (P < 0.05). Moreover, protein expression of Dicer, an enzyme responsible for mature microRNA processing, was increased in foot muscle during freezing and anoxia and in hepatopancreas during freezing. 10Molecular-Genetic Characterization of Human Rotavirus A Strains Circulating in Moscow, Russia(2009–2014)显示文摘Enteric viruses are the most common cause of acute gastroenteritis(AGE) in young children and a significant public health problem globally. Hospital admissions of children under 5 years of age with diarrhea are primarily associated with group A rotavirus(RVA) infection. In this retrospective study, the population structure of viruses linked to AGE etiology in young children hospitalized with AGE in Moscow was evaluated, and molecular characterization of RVA strains was performed.Fecal specimens were collected from children under 5 years old hospitalized with AGE between 2009 and 2014 in Moscow, Russia. Multiplex real-time reverse transcription PCR was used to detect enteric viruses and for G/[P]-genotyping of isolated RVAs. Sequencing of RVA VP7 and VP4 cDNA fragments was used to validate the data obtained by PCRgenotyping. The main causes for hospitalization of children with AGE were RVA(40.1%), followed by noroviruses(11.4%), while adenoviruses, astroviruses, sapoviruses, enteroviruses, and orthoreoviruses were detected in 4.7%, 1.9%,1.4%, 1.2%, and 0.2% of samples tested, respectively. Nosocomial infections, predominantly associated with RVAs and noroviruses, were detected in 24.8% of cases and occurred significantly more frequently in younger infants. The predominant RVA genotype was G4 P[8], detected in 38.7% of RVA-positive cases, whereas genotypes G1 P[8], G9 P[8],G3 P[8], and G2P[4] were found in 11.8%, 6.6%, 4.2%, and 3.3% of cases, respectively. 12达沃斯认知偏差评定量表的信效度检验显示文摘目的 规范化引进达沃斯认知偏差评定量表(Davos Assessment of Cognitive Biases Scale,DACOBS)并检验其信度和效度.方法 经原作者授权,将英文版DACOBS经过翻译和回译后确定中文版(DACOBS-C).采用方便抽样方法,选取符合DSM-Ⅳ精神分裂症诊断标准的患者102例(病例组)及某社区居民和在校大学生120名(对照组)完成DACOBS-C,进行项目分析、探索性因素分析和内部一致性检验.同时抽取部分患者完成认知偏差问卷(Cognitive Bias Questionnaire,CBQ)、贝克抑郁量表(Beck Depression Inventory,BDI)、Peter等的妄想问卷(Peters et al.Delusions Inventory,PDI)和精神症状评定量表(Psychotic Symptoms Rating Scale,PSYRATS)以检验效标效度.对病例组和对照组DACOBS-C总分进行独立样本t检验,以检验区分效度.结果 (1)根据项目分析的结果,删除条目l、3、12;探索性因素分析中提取出7个因子,共解释方差54.04%,各条目的因子载荷均在0.42 ~0.74.DACOBS-C总分与CBQ抑郁-歪曲分量表评分呈正相关(r=0.55,P<0.01);与BDI总分呈正相关(r =0.61,P<0.01);与PDI各分量表评分均呈正相关(r=0.60、0.63、0.56、0.57,均P<0.01);与PSYRATS总分呈正相关(r=0.57,P<0.01).病例组DACOBS-C总分高于对照组[(139.23 ±33.33)分比(128.05 ±26.50)分,P<0.05].(2)DACOBS-C的克朗巴赫α系数为0.92(P<0.01),7个因子的各个内部一致性克朗巴赫α系数为0.66 ~0.81,量表各因子与总分的相关系数为0.53 ~0.68,各因子间的相关系数为0.30 ~0.63.结论 DACOBS-C的信度、区分效度、结构效度均符合心理测量学要求,可以用于国内精神分裂症认知偏差的研究.杨金玉 祝一虹 王奕權 陈致宇 刘微波 田琪 林明霞 Zachary Cohen Yulia Landa 2014中华精神科杂志2014,47,4:3

14Determination of Iron in Water Solution by Time-Resolved Femtosecond Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy显示文摘The influence of the energy of femtosecond laser pulses on the intensity of Fe I(371.99 nm) emission line and the continuous spectrum of the plasma generated on the surface of Fe^(3+)water solution by a Ti: sapphire laser radiation with pulse duration <45 fs and energies up to 7 m J is determined. A calibration curve was obtained for Fe^(3+)concentration range from 0.5 g/L to the limit of detection in water solution, and its saturation was detected for concentrations above 0.25 g/L, which is ascribed to self-absorption. The 3σ- limit of detection obtained for Fe in water solution is 2.6 mg/L in the case of 7 m J laser pulse energy. 15Case report of Graves' disease manifesting with odynophagia and heartburn显示文摘Graves' disease is an autoimmune disease, which can manifest with a variety of extrathyroidal clinical syndromes like ophthalmopathy, pretibial myxedema(dermopathy), acropathy, cardiomyopathy, and encephalopathy. Though quite rare, this disease can also manifest with gastrointestinal symptoms such as dysphagia, heartburn, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. We report a clinical case of Graves' disease manifesting with dysfunction of the esophagus and heartburn in a 61-year-old man. In the muscular layer of the esophagus we found dystrophic changes led to its atony, which was documented by endoscopy and high-resolution manometry. The pathology features of esophageal symptoms were: focal proliferation of the basal cells, vascular distension, and dystrophy of the epithelial cells. Antithyroid treatment led to decrease of all clinical symptoms after 5 d of Thiamazole administration. 19Perovskite-transition metal dichalcogenides heterostructures: recent advances and future perspectives显示文摘Transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs)and perovskites are among the most attractive and widely investigated semiconductors in the recent decade.They are promising materials for various applications,such as photodetection,solar energy harvesting,light emission,and many others.Combining these materials to form heterostructures can enrich the already fascinating properties and bring up new phenomena and opportunities.Work in this field is growing rapidly in both fundamental studies and device applications.Here,we review the recent findings in the perovskite-TMD heterostructures and give our perspectives on the future development of this promising field.The fundamental properties of the perovskites,TMDs,and their heterostructures are discussed first,followed by a summary of the synthesis methods of the perovskites and TMDs and the approaches to obtain high-quality interfaces.Particular attention is paid to the TMD-perovskite heterostructures that have been applied in solar cells and photodetectors with notable performance improvement.Finally through our analysis,we propose an outline on further fundamental studies and the promising applications of perovskite-TMD heterostructures.Ahmed Elbanna Ksenia Chaykun Yulia Lekina Yuanda Liu Benny Febriansyah Shuzhou Li Jisheng Pan Ze Xiang Shen Jinghua Teng 2022Opto-Electronic Science2022,1,8:2
