1Cyanobacteria-/cyanotoxin-contaminations and eutrophication status before Wuxi Drinking Water Crisis in Lake Taihu, China显示文摘After the appalling 'Wuxi Drinking Water Crisis', increasing investigations concerning the contaminations of cyanobacterial blooms and their toxins in Lake Taihu have been performed and reported in the last two years. However, information regarding these issues before the crisis in 2007 remained insufficient. To provide some background data for further comparisons, the present study reported our investigations conducted in 2004, associated with the cyanotoxin contaminations as well as the eutrophication status in Lake Taihu. Results from the one-year-study near a drinking water resource for Wuxi City indicated that, unlike the status in recent two years, cyanobacteria and chlorophyta are the co-dominance species throughout the year. The highest toxin concentration (34.2 ng/mL) in water columns occurred in August. In bloom biomass, the peak value of intracellular toxin (0.59 μg/mg DW) was determined in October, which was lag behind that in water column. In addition, MC-RR was the major toxin variant throughout the year. During the study period, nutrients levels of total nitrogen and phosphorus were also recorded monthly. 2Effects of surface chemical properties of activated coke on selective catalytic reduction of NO with NH_3 over commercial coal-based activated coke显示文摘Surface chemical properties of typical commercial coal-based activated cokes were characterized by Xray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) and acid-base titration, and then the influence of surface chemical properties on catalytic performance of activated cokes of NO reduction with NH3 was investigated in a fixed-bed quartz micro reactor at 150 ℃. The results indicate that the selective catalytic reduction(SCR) activity of activated cokes with the increase of its surface acidic sites and oxygen content,obviously, a correlation between catalytic activity and surface acidic sites content by titration has higher linearity than catalytic activity and surface oxygen content by XPS. While basic sites content by acid-base titration have not correlation with SCR activity. 8Optimization of the Structural Parameters of a Plastic Centrifugal Pump显示文摘The structural design parameters of a plastic centrifugal pump were calculated and modeled,and flow field simulation analysis of the model was performed using CFD,in the framework of an orthogonal design method(or experiment).The inlet mounting angleβ1,outlet mounting angleβ2,wrap angleϕ,and impeller inlet diameter D1 of the pump impeller were the four factors assumed for the application of the orthogonal experiment,using the efficiency and Net Positive Suction Head(NPSH)as evaluation indices.Moreover,taking the maximum efficiency and minimum NPSH of the plastic centrifugal pump as the evaluation factors,the parameters of the pump impeller were re-optimized through the Taguchi algorithm(leading to the following optimal combination:inlet diameter 35 mm,inlet angle 26°,outlet angle 27°,and wrap angle 110°).The minimum NPSH and the maximum efficiency have been found to be 0.957%and 61.5%,respectively.Yifang Shi Lingfeng Tang Yinwu Tan Wenbin Luo 2022Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing2022,18,3:0
9Inspired by Tree Frog:Bionic Design of Tread Pattern and Its Wet Friction Properties显示文摘The wet grip of tire has always been the focus because it is related to the personal safety of passengers directly.Many methods were employed to improve the wet grip of tire.Researchers paid more attention on bionics method recent years.In nature,tree frogs have high adhesion ability in wet environment,which is mainly due to their footpads having fine polygon grooves(mainly hexagon grooves).To improve the performance of wet grip of tire,from the perspective of bionics,inspired by the footpad of tree frog,the bionic hexagon tread pattern was designed.The friction test was carried out to compare with the common tread patterns such as serrated,striped and square patterns.The results showed that the bionic hexagon tread pattern generally had high friction coefficient and directional stability of friction.The main reason was that the hexagon tread block was less affected by the friction-induced torque and the groove of bionic hexagon tread pattern had better drainage characteristic.The bionic hexagon tread pattern provides new idea and method for the design of tires with high wet grip.Donghui Chen Xiao Yang Menghua Zhong Chong Chen Lihui Wang Jingchun Wang Xiaohui Weng Yinwu Li Zhiyong Chang 2022Journal of Bionic Engineering2022,19,4:0
10The algae-lytic ability of bacterium DC_(10) and the influence of environmental factors on the ability显示文摘A lysing-bacterium DC10, isolated from Dianchi Lake of Yunnan Province, was characterized to be Pseudomonas sp. It was able to lyse some algae well, such as Microcystis viridis, Selenastrum capricornutum, and so on. In this study, it was shown that the bacterium lysed the algae by releasing a substance; the best lytic effects were achieved at low tempera- tures and in the dark. Different concentrations of CaCl2 and NaNO3 influenced the lytic effects; the ability to lyse algae decreased in the following order: pH 4 > pH 9 > pH 7 > pH 5.5. 11Rational design of FLP catalysts for reversible H_2 activation: A DFT study of the geometric and electronic effects显示文摘Frustrated Lewis pairs(FLPs) emerge as a new type of bifunctional metal-free catalysts for reversible H_2 activation, which is important for the storage and liberation of H_2 or further controllable utilizing chemical fuels via hydrogenation/dehydrogenation. Herein, a DFT study was conducted to understand the geometric factors and electronic effects of FLPs on reversible H_2 activation. The Lewis base group mainly contributes to the proton attachment, and influences the kinetics of the H_2 activation. The Lewis acid group mainly relates to the hydride attachment, and affects more significantly on the thermodynamics of H_2 activation. The dimer and quenched structure of FLPs also have a degree of influence on the performance of catalyzed H_2 activation. A series of FLPs with para-substituted phenyl derivatives as LA groups were designed and evaluated. The results indicate that the variation of LA groups has significant impact on thermodynamic energy of dihydrogen adducts but insignificant effect on kinetics. Moreover,we found the thermodynamic energy of products has a good linear relationship with Hammett substituent constants. The solvent effect on H_2 activation was also studied, and polar solvent is beneficial for zwitterionic products.
