| 1 | Assessment of source water contamination by estrogenic disrupting compounds in China显示文摘Detection of estrogenic disrupting compounds(EDCs) in drinking waters around China has led to rising concerns about health risks associated with these compounds.There is,however,a paucity of studies on the occurrence and identification of the main compounds responsible for this pollution in the source waters.To fill this void,we screened estrogenic activities of 23 source water samples from six main river systems in China,using a recombinant two-hybrid yeast assay.All sample extracts induced significant estrogenic activity,with E2 equivalents(EEQ) of raw water ranging from 0.08 to 2.40 ng/L.Additionally,16 samples were selected for chemical analysis by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.The EDCs of most concern,including estrone(E1),17β-estradiol(E2),17α-ethinylestradiol(EE2),estriol(E3),diethylstilbestrol(DES),estradiol valerate(EV),4-t-octylphenol(4-t-OP),4-nonylphenols(4-NP) and bisphenol A(BPA),were determined at concentrations of up to 2.98,1.07,2.67,4.37,2.52,1.96,89.52,280.19 and 710.65 ng/L,respectively.Causality analysis,involving comparison of EEQ values from yeast assay and chemical analysis identified E2,EE2 and 4-NP as the main responsible compounds,accounting for the whole estrogenic activities(39.74% to 96.68%).The proposed approach using both chemical analysis and yeast assay could be used for the identification and evaluation of EDCs in source waters of China. | Weiwei Jiang YeYan Mei Ma Donghong Wang Qian Luo Zijian Wang Senthil Kumaran Satyanarayanan | 2012 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,2: | 29 |
| 2 | Moderate hypothermia prevents neural cell apoptosis following spinal cord ischemia in rabbits显示文摘Paraplegia is a disastrous complication after operations of descending and thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm. Re- gional hypothermia protects against spinal cord ischemia although the protective mechanism is not well know. The objective of this study is to examine whether hypothermia protects the spinal cord by preventing apoptosis of nerve cell and also investigate a possible mechanism involved in hypothermia neuroprotection. Cell apoptosis with necrosis was evident in the spinal cord 24 h after 30 min of ischemia. Moderate hypothermia decreased the incidence of apoptotic nerve cells. Both cell apoptosis and necrosis were attenuated by hypothermia. p53 expression increased and bcl-2 expression declined after ischemia, while hypothermia mitigated these changes. | 4 | Optimal Frequency Regulation Based on Characterizing the Air Conditioning Cluster by Online Deep Learning显示文摘The air conditioning cluster(ACC)is a potential candidate to provide frequency regulation reserves.However,the effective assessment of the ACC willing reserve capacity is often an obstacle for existing demand response(DR)programs,influenced by incentive prices,temperatures,etc.In this paper,the complex relationship between the ACC willing reserve capacity and its key influence factors is defined as a demand response characteristic(DRC).To learn about DRC along with real-time frequency regulation,an online deep learning-based DRC(ODLDRC)modeling methodology is designed to continuously retrain the deep neural network-based model.The ODL-DRC model trained by incoming new data does not require massive historical training data,which makes it more time-efficient.Then,the coordinate operation between ODL-DRC modeling and optimal frequency regulation(OFR)is presented.A robust decentralized sliding mode controller(DSMC)is designed to manage the ACC response power in primary frequency regulation against any ACC response uncertainty.An ODL-DRC model-based OFR scheme is formulated by taking the learning error into consideration.Thereby,the ODL-DRC model can be applied to minimize the total operational cost while maintaining frequency stability,without waiting for a well-trained model.The simulation cases validate the superiority of the OFR based on characterizing the ACC by online learning,which can capture the real DRC and simultaneously optimize the regulation performance with strong robustness against any ACC response uncertainty and learning error. | Yeyan Xu Liangzhong Yao Siyang Liao Yaping Li Jian Xu Fan Cheng | 2022 | CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems2022,8,5: | 2 |

| 6 | N-terminal of Lprotein of vesicular stomatitis virus contains a new signal sequence显示文摘The L protein (241 kD) of vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) is the most important subunit of the replication complex. The existence of specific localization signal in the L protein was investigated by making recombinant constructs expressing truncated mutants of the L protein fused to green fluorescent protein (GFP) in transient transfection assays. The chimeric genes encoding varied N-terminal of L and GFP gene were put under the control of T7 promoter or CMV promoter. The fusion proteins were transiently expressed in BHK-21, COS-7, CHO or Hep G2 cells. When more than 120 residues were deleted or only 96 residues were kept on the N-terminal, the fusion proteins were shown to be distributed throughout the cells, cytoplasm and nucleus under the confocal microscope. However, other chimeric proteins with 120 or more amino acids were dotted and distributed in the perinuclear regions. And the fusion protein with 96120 aa has the similar distribution. A thirteen-residue peptide QGYSFLHEVDKEA (108120) was identified as localization signal, whose function would be absolutely distributed with the deficiency of D or V. | 7 | Effects of chitin nanocrystals on coverage of coating layers and water retention of coating color显示文摘This study assessed the applicability of chitin nanocrystals prepared by 2,2,6,6-Tetramethyl-1-Piperidine-1-oxyl radical(TEMPO)-mediated oxidation in traditional papermaking coating color systems.The��-chitin nanocrystals(CTNCs)with different carboxyl content,size,and morphology were prepared from crab shells by alkali pretreatment and TEMPO-mediated oxidation in the water at pH 10,and then the ratio of CTNCs to latex was applied to traditional coating color system to replace part of latex.The results showed that when the amount of NaClO added as co-oxidant in the oxidation was 15.0 mmol/g of chitin,the carboxyl content of alkali-pretreated CTNCs was up to 0.76 mmol/g.The amount of carboxyl groups presented a linear relation with the degree of individualization of nanocrystals and dispersion.When the ratio of latex to CTNCs was 90꞉10,the water retention value of the coating was 92%lower than that of the pure latex system,and the rheological property was better.The relationship between the addition amount of CTNCs and the surface strength and the coverage of coating layers were also studied,and results showed that when the ratio of latex to CTNCs was 95꞉5,the surface strength was the highest of 1.45 m/s,and the coverage of coating layers rate reached the highest of 78%. | Ruoshi Gao Yi Jing Yeyan Ni Qiwen Jiang | 2022 | Journal of Bioresources and Bioproducts2022,7,3: | 0 |
