1Programmable time-domain digital-coding metasurface for non-linear harmonic manipulation and new wireless communication systems显示文摘Optical non-linear phenomena are typically observed in natural materials interacting with light at high intensities, and they benefit a diverse range of applications from communication to sensing. However,controlling harmonic conversion with high efficiency and flexibility remains a major issue in modern optical and radio-frequency systems. Here, we introduce a dynamic time-domain digital-coding metasurface that enables efficient manipulation of spectral harmonic distribution. By dynamically modulating the local phase of the surface reflectivity, we achieve accurate control of different harmonics in a highly programmable and dynamic fashion, enabling unusual responses, such as velocity illusion. As a relevant application, we propose and realize a novel architecture for wireless communication systems based on the time-domain digital-coding metasurface, which largely simplifies the architecture of modern communication systems, at the same time yielding excellent performance for real-time signal transmission. 2Brain-derived neurotrophic factor and its related enzymes and receptors play important roles after hypoxic-ischemic brain damage显示文摘Brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF) regulates many neurological functions and plays a vital role during the recovery from central nervous system injuries. However, the changes in BDNF expression and associated factors following hypoxia-ischemia induced neonatal brain damage, and the significance of these changes are not fully understood. In the present study, a rat model of hypoxic-ischemic brain damage was established through the occlusion of the right common carotid artery, followed by 2 hours in a hypoxic-ischemic environment. Rats with hypoxic-ischemic brain damage presented deficits in both sensory and motor functions, and obvious pathological changes could be detected in brain tissues. The m RNA expression levels of BDNF and its processing enzymes and receptors(Furin, matrix metallopeptidase 9, tissuetype plasminogen activator, tyrosine Kinase receptor B, plasminogen activator inhibitor-1, and Sortilin) were upregulated in the ipsilateral hippocampus and cerebral cortex 6 hours after injury;however, the expression levels of these m RNAs were found to be downregulated in the contralateral hippocampus and cerebral cortex. These findings suggest that BDNF and its processing enzymes and receptors may play important roles in the pathogenesis and recovery from neonatal hypoxic-ischemic brain damage. 3Urbanization reduces resource use efficiency of phytoplankton community by altering the environment and decreasing biodiversity显示文摘Urbanization often exerts multiple effects on aquatic and terrestrial organisms,including changes in biodiversity,species composition and ecosystem functions.However,the impacts of urbanization on river phytoplankton in subtropical urbanizing watersheds remain largely unknown.Here,we explored the effects of urbanization on phytoplankton community structure(i.e.,biomass,community composition and diversity)and function(i.e.,resource use efficiency)in a subtropical river at watershed scale in southeast China over 6 years.A total of 318 phytoplankton species belonging into 120 genera and 7 phyla were identified from 108 samples.Bacillariophyta biomass showed an increasing trend with increasing urbanization level.The phytoplankton community shifted from Chlorophyta dominance in rural upstream waters to Bacillariophyta dominance in urbanized downstream waters.Furthermore,phytoplankton diversity and resource use efficiency(RUE=phytoplankton biomass/total phosphorus)were significantly decreased with increasing urbanization level from upstream to downstream.Phytoplankton RUE exhibited a significant positive correlation with species richness,but a negative correlation with phytoplankton evenness.The variation in environmental factors(turbidity,total nitrogen,NH_(4)^(+)-N,total phosphorus,PO_(4)^(3-)-P and percentage urbanized area)was significantly correlated with phytoplankton diversity and RUE.Overall,our results revealed the influence of urbanization on phytoplankton community structure and ecosystem function was due to its altering the environmental conditions.Therefore,human-driven urbanization may play crucial roles in shaping the structure and function of phytoplankton communities in subtropical rivers,and the mechanism of this process can provide important information for freshwater sustainable uses,watershed management and conservation.Yigang Yang Huihuang Chen Mamun Abdullah Al Jean Claude Ndayishimiye Jun R Yang Alain Isabwe Anqi Luo Jun Yang 2022Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,2:4
4Efficacy of Yangyin Yiqi Huoxue Granule (养阴益气活血颗粒) in Treatment of Ischemic Stroke Patients with Qi-Yin Deficiency and Blood Stasis Syndrome: A Randomized, Double-Blind, Multicenter, Phase-2 Clinical Trial显示文摘Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Yangyin Yiqi Huoxue Granule(养阴益气活血颗粒,YYHG)in the treatment of ischemic stroke(IS)patients with qi-yin deficiency and blood stasis syndrome(QYDBSS),and to explore its effective dosage.Methods The total of 288 patients were randomly assigned to the YYHG high-dose,YYHG low-dose,positive control(administered Xiaoshuantong Granule,XSTG,消栓通颗粒),or placebo control(administered inert granule)groups(72 cases per group)by software-drived competitive block randomization.The trial was conducted for a 28-day period,with a 180-day follow-up period.The primary outcome was the comprehensive curative evaluation,and secondary outcomes were the National Institute of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS)score,Barthel activities of daily living(ADL)index score,the quality of life index(QLI)score,and the Chinese medicine syndrome(CMS)score.All analyses were done on an intention-to-treat basis.The clinical safety was also assessed.Results The total of 288 participants were recruited between June 1,2008 and September 30,2009,and 287 patients received intervention;the treatment groups were well balanced at baseline.The comprehensive cure rates of YYHG high-dose,low-dose,positive and placebo control groups were 63.38%,31.94%,36.11%and 6.14%,respectively;there was a statistical difference between the two groups(P<0.01),while the high-dose YYHG treatment group was significantly higher than the other 3 groups(P<0.01).The improvement of NIHSS,ADL,QLI and CMS scores of the YYHG high-dose and low-dose groups was significantly better than that of the positive control group and the placebo control group(P<0.05).In terms of improving the classification of the NIHSS scale and the assessment of the ADL scale,the YYHG high-dose group was significantly better than the other three groups(P<0.05),and the YYHG low-dose group was better than the placebo control group(P<0.01).At the same time,except for the QLI score,the high-dose group was better than the low-dose group(P<0.05).In terms of safety,adverse reactions after YYHG treatment were generally mild(3.78%),and no serious adverse reactions have been reported.Conclusion YYHG is safe and effective in the treatment of IS patients with QYDBSS.WANG Yu YANG Jie-hong WAN Hai-tong HE Yu XU Bin Al Chang-shan ZHOU Hui-fen YU Li WAN Hao-fang BIE Xiao-dong 2021Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2021,27,11:4
