1Role of Water in Deformed Omphacite in UHP Eclogite from the Dabie Mountains,Eastern China显示文摘Omphacite grains from UHP eclogite of the Dabie Mountains in eastern China are elongated and showstrong lattice preferred orientations (LPOs). Observations by the transmission electron microscopy (TEM) identified notonly structures of plastic deformation occurring as free dislocation, dislocation loops and dislocation walls, but alsobubbles of water present in the deformed omphacite. The bubbles attach to the dislocation loops which are often connectedto one another via a common bubble. Using infrared spectroscopy (IR), two types of hydrous components are identified ashydroxyl and free-water in the omphacite. 4Formation of groundwater-induced damage in Zhu Yuelian’s tomb and protection methods显示文摘Zhu Yuelian’s tomb has been exposed to groundwater for many years,and this exposure has caused many defects,including erosion,encrustation,patina,and spot marks related to groundwater,seriously affecting the artistic and ornamental value of cultural relics.In this study,high-density microelectrode spacing resistivity and ultrasonic transverse wave reflection were used to detect hidden damage in the burial chamber,and the results revealed hidden damage,corrosion,cracks,and pores in the surrounding geological body,concealed cracks in the sidewalls,and internal defects in the columns.An outdoor high-density resistivity test and hydrological observation experiment indicated that the tomb is located in a weakly permeable aquifer,and the groundwater head has been higher than the bottom of the tomb for many years.Natural groundwater flows from northeast to southwest in the aquifer,and the tomb forms an artificial concave cone,causing groundwater around the area to continually flow into the tomb.A chemical composition analysis of the groundwater and scale revealed that the groundwater within the tomb area is slightly corrosive,and the groundwater seepage along the fissures of the compacted layer induces damage.The threedimensional(3D)seepage numerical simulation results indicated that the combined use of drainage and impervious curtains can cause the water head in the curtain to drop significantly and control the water head to be lower than 8 m from the bottom floor of the tomb,meeting the requirements for seepage prevention and protection of the tomb without long-term maintenance.LI Bin MEN YeKai ZHAO Gang WANG EnDe 2023Science China(Technological Sciences)2023,66,8:0

6Mechanics of 2D material bubbles显示文摘A variety of out-of-plane deformation patterns have been observed for two-dimensional(2D)materials including ripples,wrinkles,buckles,scrolls,folds,tents,and bubbles due to their extra-low bending rigidity.Among them,the micro-and nanoscale bubbles arising from the deformation of the atomically thin membrane by gases,liquids,and solids trapped underneath 2D materials were frequently observed.On the one hand,the presence of bubbles may severely deteriorate the performance of 2D material devices because of the obstructed charge,photon,and phonon transport across the interface.On the other hand,these bubbles offer a novel avenue to explore the intrinsic mechanical parameters(e.g.,Young’s modulus and bending rigidity)of 2D materials as well as their interfacial properties(e.g.,shear stress and adhesion energy).Furthermore,these bubbles with stable and controllable morphology also act as effective knobs to tune the electronic and photonic performance of various 2D materials.This review highlights the recent progress on the 2D material bubbles,which will be helpful for measurement of the mechanical properties of ultrathin 2D materials and the applications of developing 2D material devices.Xuwei Cui Luqi Liu Wenlong Dong Yekai Zhou Zhong Zhang 2023Nano Research2023,16,12:0
