| 1 | Recent advances in understanding the key catalyst factors for Fischer-Tropsch synthesis显示文摘Catalytic conversion of synthesis gas (CO+H2) into hydrocarbons, also known as Fischer-Tropsch (FT) synthesis, is a crucial reaction for the transformation of non-petroleum carbon resources such as coal, natural gas, shale gas, coal-bed gas and biogas, as well as biomass into liquid fuels and chemicals. Many factors can influence the catalytic behavior of a FT catalyst. | 2 | Catalytic transformations of cellulose and its derived carbohydrates into 5-hydroxymethylfurfural, levulinic acid, and lactic acid显示文摘The catalytic transformation of cellulose into key building-block or platform chemicals such as 5-hydoxymethylfurfural(HMF),levulinic acid,and lactic acid under mild conditions,has attracted much attention in recent years,as these conversions can be operated without consumption of hydrogen or oxygen and thus are more economical compared to the hydrogenolysis or oxidation of cellulose.This review article highlights recent advances in the development of novel catalysts or catalytic processes for the conversion of cellulose and its derived carbohydrates into HMF,levulinic acid,and lactic acid or their esters under inert atmosphere.We also analyze efficient catalytic systems for HMF production,in particular Lewis acids combined with ionic liquid or biphasic systems.For the formations of levulinic and lactic acids or their esters,we focus on the reactions in aqueous and alcohol media catalyzed by multifunctional catalysts that combine the functions of hydrolysis,isomerization,and dehydration-rehydration or retro-aldol reactions.The reaction mechanism for each process will also be discussed to gain insights into the activation of C–O and C–C bonds in the absence of hydrogen or oxygen. | Weiping Deng Qinghong Zhang Ye Wang | 2015 | Science China Chemistry2015,58,1: | 11 |

| 6 | Effects and mechanisms of berberine in diabetes treatment显示文摘Berberine from Rhizoma Coptidis is an oral hypoglycemic agent with anti-dyslipidemia and anti-obesity activities.Its metabolic activity of regulating blood glucose and lipids has been widely studied and evidenced in patients and various animal models.Berberine is known as an AMP-activated protein kinase(A MPK)activator.Its insulin-independent hypoglycemic effect is.related to inhibition of mitochondrial function,stimulation of glycolysis and activation of AMPK pathway.Additionally,berberine may also act as an x-glucosidase inhibitor.In the newly-diagnosed type 2 diabetic patients,berberine is able to lower blood insulin level via enhancing insulin sensitivity.However,in patients with poorβ-cell function,berberine may improve insulin secretion via resuscitating exhausted islets.Furthermore,berberine may have extra beneficial effects on diabetic cardiovascular complications due to its cholesterol-lowering,anti arrhythmias and nitric oxide(NO)inducing properties.The antioxidant and aldose reductase inhibitory activities of berberine may be useful in alleviating dia betic nephropathy.Although evidence from animal and human studies consistently supports the therapeutic activities of berberine,large-scale multicenter trials are still necessary to evaluate the efficacy of berberine on diabetes and its related complications. | Jun Yin Jianping Ye Weiping Jia | 2012 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2012,2,4: | 5 |
| 7 | Regulation of microbiota–GLP1 axis by sennoside A in diet-induced obese mice显示文摘Sennoside A(SA) is a bioactive component of Chinese herbal medicines with an activity of irritant laxative, which is often used in the treatment of constipation and obesity. However, its activity remains unknown in the regulation of insulin sensitivity. In this study, the impact of SA on insulin sensitivity was tested in high fat diet(HFD)-induced obese mice through dietary supplementation. At a dosage of 30 mg/kg/day, SA improved insulin sensitivity in the mice after 8-week treatment as indicated by HOMA-IR(homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance) and glucose tolerance test(GTT). SA restored plasma level of glucagon-like peptide 1(GLP1) by 90% and mRNA expression of Glp1 by 80% in the large intestine of HFD mice. In the mechanism, SA restored the gut microbiota profile, short chain fatty acids(SCFAs), and mucosal structure in the colon. A mitochondrial stress was observed in the enterocytes of HFD mice with ATP elevation, structural damage, and complex dysfunction. The mitochondrial response was induced in enterocytes by the dietary fat as the same responses were induced by palmitic acid in the cell culture. The mitochondrial response was inhibited in HFD mice by SA treatment. | 8 | Ru particle size effect in Ru/CNT-catalyzed Fischer-Tropsch synthesis显示文摘Carbon nanotube (CNT)-supported Ru nanoparticles with mean sizes ranging from 2.3 to 9.2 nm were prepared by different post-treatments and studied for Fischer-Tropsch (FT) synthesis. The effects of Ru particle size on catalytic behaviors were investigated at both shorter and longer contact times. At shorter contact time, where the secondary reactions were insignificant, the turnover frequency (TOF) for CO conversion was dependent on the mean size of Ru particles; TOF increased with the mean size of Ru particles from 2.3 to 6.3 nm and then decreased slightly. At the same time, the selectivities to C5+ hydrocarbons increased gradually with the mean size of Ru particles up to 6.3 nm and then kept almost unchanged with a further increase in Ru particle size. | 9 | Catalytic conversion of cellulose-based biomass and glycerol to lactic acid显示文摘Catalytic transformation of cellulose into value-added chemicals is of great importance for utilization of renewable and abundant biomass. Due to the high oxygen content, cellulose serves as an ideal candidate for the production of oxygenates, in particular lactic acid which is a versatile building block in chemical industry. The efficient conversion of cellulose to lactic acid generally requires selective activation of specific C-O and C-C bonds, and therefore multifunctional catalysts that combine several key reactions including hydrolysis, isomerization and retro-aldol fragmentation are highly desirable. This review article highlights the recently developed catalytic systems and catalysts for the selective transformation of cellulose and cellulose-derived carbohydrates into lactic acid, lactates and/or its esters. Emphases will be put on the reaction mechanism and key factors that exert effects on the catalytic performances. In addition, the catalytic transformation of glycerol, a C3 compound over-supplied from biodiesel industry, will also be surveyed. | 11 | Quantitative identification of crop disease and nitrogen-water stress in winter wheat using continuous wavelet analysis显示文摘It is necessary to quantitatively identify different diseases and nitrogen-water stress for the guidance in spraying specific fungicides and fertilizer applications.The winter wheat diseases,in combination with nitrogen-water stress,are therefore common causes of yield loss in winter wheat in China.Powdery mildew(Blumeria graminis)and stripe rust(Puccinia striiformis f.sp.Tritici)are two of the most prevalent winter wheat diseases in China.This study investigated the potential of continuous wavelet analysis to identify the powdery mildew,stripe rust and nitrogen-water stress using canopy hyperspectral data.The spectral normalization process was applied prior to the analysis.Independent t-tests were used to determine the sensitivity of the spectral bands and vegetation index.In order to reduce the number of wavelet regions,correlation analysis and the independent t-test were used in conjunction to select the features of greatest importance.Based on the selected spectral bands,vegetation indices and wavelet features,the discriminate models were established using Fisher’s linear discrimination analysis(FLDA)and support vector machine(SVM).The results indicated that wavelet features were superior to spectral bands and vegetation indices in classifying different stresses,with overall accuracies of 0.91,0.72,and 0.72 respectively for powdery mildew,stripe rust and nitrogen-water by using FLDA,and 0.79,0.67 and 0.65 respectively by using SVM.FLDA was more suitable for differentiating stresses in winter wheat,with respective accuracies of 78.1%,95.6%and 95.7%for powdery mildew,stripe rust,and nitrogen-water stress.Further analysis was performed whereby the wavelet features were then split into high-scale and low-scale feature subsets for identification.The accuracies of high-scale and low-scale features with an overall accuracy(OA)of 0.61 and 0.73 respectively were lower than those of all wavelet features with an OA of 0.88.The detection of the severity of stripe rust using this method showed an enhanced reliability(R^(2)=0.828). | Wenjiang Huang Junjing Lu Huichun Ye Weiping Kong A.Hugh Mortimer Yue Shi | 2018 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2018,11,2: | 2 |
