| 1 | The Simulation of Five Tropical Cyclones by Sample Optimization of Ensemble Forecasting Based on the Observed Track and Intensity显示文摘The quality of ensemble forecasting is seriously affected by sample quality. In this study, the distributions of ensemble members based on the observed track and intensity of tropical cyclones(TCs)were optimized and their influence on the simulation results was analyzed.Simulated and observed tracks and intensities of TCs were compared and these two indicators were combined and weighted to score the sample.Samples with higher scores were retained and samples with lower scores were eliminated to improve the overall quality of the ensemble forecast. For each sample, the track score and intensity score were added as the final score of the sample with weight proportions of 10 to 0,9 to 1,8 to 2,7 to 3,6 to 4,5 to 5.These were named as“tr”,“91”,“82”,“73”,“64”,and“55”,respectively.The WRF model was used to simulate five tropical cyclones in the northwestern Pacific to test the ability of this scheme to improve the forecast track and intensity of these cyclones. The results show that the sample optimization effectively reduced the track and intensity error,“55”usually had better performance on the short-term intensity prediction, and“tr”had better performance in short-term track prediction. From the overall performance of the track and intensity simulation,“91”was the best and most stable among all sample optimization schemes. These results may provide some guidance for optimizing operational ensemble forecasting of TCs. | Jihang LI Zhiyan ZHANG Lu LIU Xubin ZHANG Jingxuan QU and Qilin WAN | 2021 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2021,38,10: | 2 |

| 3 | Metformin alleviates LTA-induced inflammatory response through PPARγ/MAPK/NF-κB signaling pathway in bovine mammary epithelial cells显示文摘Mastitis is a common inflammatory cow mammary infection;that causes significant economic loss in dairy industry.Given the interesting connection between metformin’s anti-inflammatory function and mastitis model induced by LTA in pbMECs,our objective was to prove that metformin was beneficial in suppressing proinflammatory response induced by LTA through modulation of mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)and nuclear factor kappa B(NF-κB)signaling pathways and activation of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ(PPARγ)in pbMECs.The proliferation of cells and mRNA expression were measured using EdU assay and quantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR).Immunoblotting and immunofluorescence analysis were conducted to evaluate the expression of target proteins in inflammatory and anti-inflammatory responses to metformin and LTA.Finally,pbMECs were allowed to treat with the PPAR antagonist GW9662,and inflammatory markers were detected in the cells. Our results showed that LTA concentration at 100μg/mL significantly stimulated the MAPK14,IL-6 and IL-1βmRNA expressions compared to the control cells(P<0.05)in dose-dependent tests for LTA.Metformin suppressed the phosphorylation expressions of MAPK(ERK1/2,p38,and JNK)in LTA-stimulated pbMECs.Metformin also reduced the protein expression of NF-κB,interleukin-8(IL-8),interleukin-1β(IL-1β)and interleukin-6(IL-6)in pbMECs pretreated with LTA.Metformin administration activated PPARγphosphorylation by up-regulating the expression of PPARγin LTA-stimulated pbMECs.Treatment with GW9662 resulted in increased IL-6 expression, which was reversed by metformin. These findings collectively indicated that metformin act to attenuate LTA-stimulated inflammatory response in pbMECs by suppressing MAPK and NF-κB activation via a mechanism partially dependent on PPARγactivation. These results suggested that metformin could function as an anti-inflammatory drug in the treatment of mastitis. | ABDELAZIZ ADAM IDRISS ARBAB CHUNQING YIN XUBIN LU YAN LIANG ISMAIL MOHAMED ABDALLA AMER ADAM IDRIS TIANLE XU YONGJIANG MAO ZHANGPING YANG | 2022 | BIOCELL2022,46,11: | 0 |
| 4 | Reduced nitrogen application rate with dense planting improves rice grain yield and nitrogen use efficiency: A case study in east China显示文摘Dense planting could be a feasible method for reducing nitrogen(N) application rates without compromising rice grain yield in northeast and central China. It is still unclear whether reduced N application with dense planting(RNDP) can achieve higher rice yield and N use efficiency(NUE) in Jiangsu, east China. Three japonica inbred rice(JI) and three indica hybrid rice(IH) cultivars were grown in a field experiment. Their grain yield, NUE, and related traits were compared under two cultivation treatments:conventional high-yielding practice(CHYP) and RNDP. JI showed similar yields under the two treatments, while IH showed lower yield under RNDP than under CHYP, and the partial factor productivity of N and N use efficiency for grain yield increased(P < 0.05) in both JI and IH under RNDP. Compared with CHYP,RNDP reduced spikelets per panicle but increased panicles per m2 and filled-kernel percentage of JI and IH, and JI's kernel weight was increased(P < 0.05) under RNDP. Shoot biomass weight and nonstructural carbohydrate(NSC) content in the stem at heading and maturity of JI and IH were reduced under RNDP, while harvest index and NSC remobilization reserve were increased(P < 0.05) under RNDP, especially for JI. Our results suggest that RNDP could achieve a higher rice grain yield and NUE, particularly for JI, a dominant rice cultivar type in Jiangsu. For JI, the increased panicles per m2, sink-filling efficiency, harvest index, and NSC remobilization after heading under RNDP contributed to a grain yield similar to that under CHYP. | Huanhe Wei Tianyao Meng Jialin Ge Xubin Zhang Tianyi Shi Enhao Ding Yu Lu Xinyue Li Yuan Tao Yinglong Chen Min Li Qigen Dai | 2021 | The Crop Journal2021,9,4: | 0 |
