1Redundant CAMTA Transcription Factors Negatively Regulate the Biosynthesis of Salicylic Acid and N-Hydroxypipecolic Acid by Modulating the Expression of SARD1 and CBP60g显示文摘Two signal molecules, salicylic acid (SA) and N-hydroxypipecolic acid (NHP), play critical roles in plant immunity. The biosynthetic genes of both compounds are positively regulated by master immune-regulating transcription factors SARD1 and CBP60g. However, the relationship between the SA and NHP pathways is unclear. CALMODULIN-BINDING TRANSCRIPTION FACTOR 1 (CAMTA1), CAMTA2, and CAMTA3 are known redundant negative regulators of plant immunity, but the underlying mechanism also remains largely unknown. In this study, through chromatin immunoprecipitation and electrophoretic mobility shift assays, we uncovered that CBP60g is a direct target of CAMTA3, which also negatively regulates the expression of SARD1, presumably via an indirect effect. The autoimmunity of camta3-1 is suppressed by sard1 cbp60g double mutant as well as ald1 and fmo1, two single mutants defective in NHP biosynthesis. Interestingly, a suppressor screen conducted in the camta1/ 2/ 3 triple mutant background yielded various mutants blocking biosynthesis or signaling of either SA or NHP, leading to nearly complete suppression of the extreme autoimmunity of camta1/ 2/ 3, suggesting that the SA and NHP pathways can mutually amplify each other. 2Response and stabilization of a two-stage axial flow compressor restricted by rotating inlet distortion显示文摘This paper considers effects of Rotating Inlet Distortion(RID)on a two-stage axial compressor and the stabilization effects of a casing treatment subjected to the considered RID.In multispool engines,the downstream compressor suffers a RID when the upstream fan/compressor is in rotating stall.A controlled rotating sectional screen upstream of the compressor was adopted to generate the RID in different intensities,and co-or counter spinning direction compared with the rotor.The response of the compressor to inlet distortion was interpreted as the changes of stall margin.Results show that there are two peaks for the stall margin degradation where the distortion screen rotates near 20%and 70%of the rotor’s rotational frequency,respectively.Based on the measurements taken during the pre-stall process,it is suggested that the two frequencies are associated with the eigen frequencies of the compressor.Specifically,the first is associated with a stall precursor that is suspected as an initial disturbance existing in compressor and the second is related to a spike-type stall precursor.At last,a kind of Stall Precursor-Suppressed(SPS)casing treatment was applied to enhance the compressor stability in RID conditions.The result indicates that the stall margin is improved by 6%at an average level and there is nearly no efficiency loss caused by the application of such casing treatment.Jia LI Xu DONG Dakun SUN Ruize XU Xiaofeng SUN 2021Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2021,34,9:2
3Application of Stall Warning Approach with Stall Precursor-Suppressed Casing Treatment on a Two-Stage Compressor显示文摘A stall warning approach based on aero-acoustic theory is studied in this paper. For this stall warning approach, a parameter Rc is defined to measure the periodicity of the blade-passing signal. Signal simulation is used to investigate the mechanism of the stall warning approach. The results suggest that the value of Rc is influenced by the power of the perturbations. The experiments on a two-stage compressor indicate this stall warning approach can generate a warning signal several seconds before the stall. It is demonstrated in this paper that the stall warning approach can detect the distribution and evolution of stall precursors. 7Buckled MEMS Beams for Energy Harvesting from Low Frequency Vibrations显示文摘Vibration energy harvesters based on the resonance of the beam structure work efectively only when the operating frequency window of the beam resonance matches with the available vibration source.None of the resonating MEMS structures can operate with low frequency,low amplitude,and unpredictable ambient vibrations since the resonant frequency goes up very high as the structure gets smaller.Bistable buckled beam energy harvester is therefore developed for lowering the operating frequency window below 100Hz for the frst time at the MEMS scale.Tis design does not rely on the resonance of the MEMS structure but operates with the large snapping motion of the beam at very low frequencies when input energy overcomes an energy threshold.A fully functional piezoelectric MEMS energy harvester is designed,monolithically fabricated,and tested.An electromechanical lumped parameter model is developed to analyze the nonlinear dynamics and to guide the design of the nonlinear oscillator based energy harvester.Multilayer beam structure with residual stress induced buckling is achieved through the progressive residual stress control of the deposition processes along the fabrication steps.Surface profle of the released device shows bistable buckling of 200μm which matches well with the amount of buckling designed.Dynamic testing demonstrates the energy harvester operates with 50%bandwidth under 70Hz at 0.5g input,operating conditions that have not been demonstrated by MEMS vibration energy harvesters before.Ruize Xu Haluk Akay Sang-Gook Kim 2019Research2019,,1:0
8Altered asymmetries of resting-state MRI in the left thalamus of first-episode schizophrenia显示文摘Background:Schizophrenia(SCZ)is a complex psychiatric disorder associated with widespread alterations in the subcortical brain structure.Hemispheric asymmetries are a fundamental organizational principle of the human brain and relate to human psychological and behavioral characteristics.We aimed to explore the state of thalamic lateralization of SCZ.Methods:We used voxel-based morphometry(VBM)analysis,whole-brain analysis of low-frequency fluctuations(ALFF),fractional amplitude of low-frequency fluctuations(fALFF),and resting-state seed-based functional connectivity(FC)analysis to investigate brain structural and functional deficits in SCZ.Also,we applied Pearson’’s correlation analysis to validate the correlation between Positive and Negative Symptom Scale(PANSS)scores and them.Results:Compared with healthy controls,SCZ showed increased gray matter volume(GMV)of the left thalamus(t=2.214,p=0.029),which positively correlated with general psychosis(r=0.423,p=0.010).SCZ also showed increased ALFF in the putamen,the caudate nucleus,the thalamus,fALFF in the nucleus accumbens(NAc),and the caudate nucleus,and decreased fALFF in the precuneus.The left thalamus showed significantly weaker resting-state FC with the amygdala and insula in SCZ.PANSS negative symptom scores were negatively correlated with the resting-state FC between the thalamus and the insula(r=-0.414,p=0.025).Conclusions:Collectively,these results suggest the possibility of aberrant laterality in the left thalamus and its FC with other related brain regions involved in the limbic system.Sha Liu Zhenglong Guo Hongbao Cao Hong Li Xiaodong Hu Long Cheng Jianying Li Ruize Liu Yong Xu 2022Chronic Diseases and Translational Medicine2022,8,3:0
9A lncRNA from an inflammatory bowel disease risk locus maintains intestinal host-commensal homeostasis显示文摘Inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD)are known to have complex,genetically influenced etiologies,involving dysfunctional interactions between the intestinal immune system and the microbiome.Here,we characterized how the RNA transcript from an IBD-associated long non-coding RNA locus(“CARINH-Colitis Associated IRF1 antisense Regulator of Intestinal Homeostasis”)protects against IBD.We show that CARINH and its neighboring gene coding for the transcription factor IRF1 together form a feedforward loop in host myeloid cells.The loop activation is sustained by microbial factors,and functions to maintain the intestinal host-commensal homeostasis via the induction of the anti-inflammatory factor IL-18BP and anti-microbial factors called guanylate-binding proteins(GBPs).Extending these mechanistic insights back to humans,we demonstrate that the function of the CARINH/IRF1 loop is conserved between mice and humans.Genetically,the T allele of rs2188962,the most probable causal variant of IBD within the CARINH locus from the human genetics study,impairs the inducible expression of the CARINH/IRF1 loop and thus increases genetic predisposition to IBD.Our study thus illustrates how an IBD-associated lncRNA maintains intestinal homeostasis and protects the host against colitis.Hongdi Ma Taidou Hu Wanyin Tao Jiyu Tong Zili Han Dietmar Herndler-Brandstetter Zheng Wei Ruize Liu Tingyue Zhou Qiuyuan Liu Xuemei Xu Kaiguang Zhang Rongbin Zhou Judy H.Cho Hua-Bing Li Hailiang Huang Richard A.Flavell Shu Zhu 2023Cell Research2023,33,5:0
