| 1 | Landslide Developmental Characteristics and Response to Climate Change since the Last Glacial in the Upper Reaches of the Yellow River, NE Tibetan Plateau显示文摘The upper reaches of the Yellow River in northeastern Tibetan Plateau are geohazards areas. The evolution of the Yellow River, chronology of some landslides, and spatiotemporal distribution characteristics of super large scale and giant landslides within the region are summarized using paleoclimate evidence, and the relationship between the intensive landslide period and climatic changes since the Last Glacial period is analyzed. It is concluded that(1) Super large scale and giant landslides are distributed widely within the region, particularly in the Qunke-Jianzha basin.(2) The chronological sequence of landslides is established by dating the slip zones of landslides and analyzing the relations between landslides and their overlying or underlying loess formations. Five landslide development periods are determined: 53–49 ka BP, 33–24 ka BP, 10–8 ka BP, 5–3.5 ka BP, and the present.(3) These correspond closely to warm and wet periods during the last 100,000 years, i.e., two weak paleosol development stages of Malan loess deposited during the last Glacial period in the Chinese loess Plateau, L1-4 and L1-2 that belong to the marine oxygen isotope stage 3, the last deglacial period, the Holocene Optimum, and the modern global warming period.(4) Landslide triggers may be closely linked to warm and wet periods related to rapid climatic transitions. | YIN Zhiqiang QIN Xiaoguang YIN Yueping ZHAO Wuji WEI Gang | 2014 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2014,88,2: | 16 |
| 2 | Adsorption-energy-based activity descriptors for electrocatalysts in energy storage applications显示文摘Energy storage technologies, such as fuel cells, ammonia production and lithium–air batteries, are important strategies for addressing the global challenge of energy crisis and environmental pollution.Taking overpotential as a direct criterion, we illustrate in theory and experiment that the adsorption energies of charged species such as Li^++e^-and H^++e^-are a central parameter to describe catalytic activities related to electricity-in/electricity-out efficiencies. The essence of catalytic activity is revealed to relate with electronic coupling between catalysts and charged species. Based on adsorption energy, some activity descriptors such as d-band center, e_g-electron number and charge-transfer capacity are further defined by electronic properties of catalysts that directly affect interaction between catalysts and charged species. | 3 | Distribution Characteristics of Geohazards Induced by the Lushan Earthquake and Their Comparisons with the Wenchuan Earthquake显示文摘The Lushan Earthquake induced a large number of geohazards. They are widely distributed and caused serious damages. The basic characteristics, formation mechanisms and typical cases of geohazards induced by Lushan Earthquake are described, and compares to the relationships of Lushan and Wenchuan earthquakes between geohazards and earthquake magnitude, geomorphology, slope angle, elevation and seismic intensity in the most affected areas in the article.(1) The numbers and volumes of landslides and rockslides differ significantly between the two earthquakes due to their differing magnitudes. The Lushan Earthquake is associated with fewer and smaller-magnitude geohazards, within the immediate area, which mainly consist of small-and medium-sized shallow landslides and rockslides, and occur on steep slopes and mountain valleys. The largest landslide induced by Lushan Earthquake is the Gangoutou Landslide debris flow with a residual volume of about 2.48×106 m3. The most dangerous debris flow is at Lengmugou gulley in Baoxing County, which has similar geomorphological features and disaster modes as a previous disaster in Zhouqu County, Gansu Province.(2) Geohazards induced by the Lushan Earthquake show four mechanisms: cracking-rockslides-collision- scraping and then debris flows, cracking-rockslides, vibration-rainfall-rockslides-landslide and then debris flow, vibration-throwing or scrolling.(3) There are significant similarities and differences between the geohazards induced by these two earthquakes. The types of geohazards are the same but the volume, quantity and other factors differ: geohazards are concentrated on slope angles of 10°–40° in the Lushan Earthquake area, especially within 10°–20°, and at absolute elevation of 500–2000 m above sea level(a.s.l.). | 4 | Polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) in blood from children (age 9–12) in Taizhou, China显示文摘Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) as ubiquitous persistent organic pollutants have attracted much attention in recent years. Exposure to PBDEs could induce a high health risk for children. The aim of this study was to investigate the PBDEs exposure of children (9–12 years) from Taizhou, China. Fifty-eight blood samples were collected in one school in a mountainous area in Taizhou. The concentrations of ∑9PBDEs (sum of BDE-28, -47, -99, -100, -153, -154, -183, -197 and -209) ranged from 2.66 to 33.9 ng/g lipid wet (lw) with a median of 7.22 ng/g lw. These concentrations were lower than those of children in USA, but close to European and Asian general population levels. The results showed that children in Taizhou countryside were at a low level of PBDEs exposure. The predominant congener was BDE-209, followed by BDE-28, -47, -197 and -153. | 5 | Molecular characterization and developmental expression patterns of thyroid hormone receptors(TRs) and their responsiveness to TR agonist and antagonist in Rana nigromaculata显示文摘Considering some advantages of Rana nigromaculata as an experimental species, we propose that this species, like Xenopus laevis, could be used to assay thyroid hormone(TH) signaling disrupting actions. To validate the utilizability of R. nigromaculata, we investigated the responsiveness of R. nigromaculata to a TH receptor(TR) agonist(T3) and antagonist(amiodarone) by analyzing expression, based on characterizing TR cDNA and developmental expression patterns. With high levels of identity with the corresponding genes in X. laevis, both TRα and TRβ in R. nigromaculata exhibited roughly similar developmental expression patterns to those of X. laevis, in spite of some species-specific differences. Both TRα and TRβ expression had greater changes in the liver and intestine than in the tail and brain during metamorphosis. T3 exposure for 2 days induced more dramatic increases of TRβ expression in stage 27 than in stage34 tadpoles but not in stage 42 tadpoles, showing that the responsiveness of R. nigromaculata to TH decreased with development and disappeared at the onset of metamorphic climax.Corresponding to greater changes of TRβ expression in the liver and intestine than in the tail and brain during metamorphosis, the liver and intestine had higher responsiveness to exogenous T3 than the tail and brain. Amiodarone inhibited T3-induced TRβ expression. | 7 | Formation Mechanisms and Geomorphic Evolution of the Erlian Mudflow Fans, Eastern Guide Basin of the Upper Reaches of Yellow River显示文摘Several argillaceous platforms lie along the Yellow River(YR) of the eastern Guide Basin, northeastern Tibetan Plateau, and their compositions, formation processes, and geomorphic evolution remain debated. Using field survey data, sample testing, and high-resolution remote sensing images, the evolution of the Erlian mudflow fans are analyzed. The data show significant differences between fans on either side of the YR. On the right bank, fans are dilute debris flows consisting of sand and gravel. On the left bank, fans are viscosity mudflows consisting of red clay. The composition and formation processes of the left bank platforms indicate a rainfall-induced pluvial landscape. Fan evolution can be divided into two stages: early-stage fans pre-date 16 ka B.P., and formed during the last deglaciation; late-stage fans post-date 8 ka B.P.. Both stages were induced by climate change. The data indicate that during the Last Glacial Maximum, the northeastern Tibetan Plateau experienced a cold and humid climate characterized by high rainfall. From 16–8 ka, the YR cut through the Erlian early mudflow fan, resulting in extensive erosion. | 10 | Highly efficient separation of benzene+cyclohexane mixtures by extraction combined extractive distillation using imidazolium-based dicationic ionic liquids显示文摘Benzene(BEN)and cyclohexane(CYH),which have very close boiling points and a binary azeotrope,are the most difficult binary components in the separation of aromatic and non-aromatic hydrocarbons.This study further explored the separation mechanism and industrial application prospects of BEN+CYH mixtures separated by a dicationic ionic liquid(DIL)[C_(5)(MIM)_(2)][NTf_(2)]_(2) based on experimental research.The calculation results of the Conductor-like Screening model Segment Activity Coefficient(COSMO-SAC)model show that selectivity and solvent capacity of the DIL are significantly improved.The effects of different anions and cations on the micro-structure distribution and diffusion behavior of BEN+CYH system were investigated by quantum chemistry(QC)calculations and molecular dynamics(MD)simulations.The results indicate that the anion[NTf_(2)]_(2)has low polarity,uniform charge distribution,and a dual role of hydrogen bonding andπ-πbonding,and the cation[C_(5)(MIM)_(2)]^(2+) has stronger interaction with BEN and higher selectivity than conventional cations.The liquid-liquid extraction and extractive distillation(LLE-ED)process using an optimized 65 mol/mol DIL+35 mol/mol H_(2)O mixed solution as the extractant was proposed,which solved the problem of low product purity in the LLE process and high energy consumption in the ED process.Under the best operating conditions,the purity of CYH product was 99.9%,the purity of BEN product was 99.6%,the recovery rate of BEN reached 99.9%,and the recovery rate of DIL reached 99.9%.The heat-integrated LLE-ED process reduced total annual cost by 21.6%,and reduced CO_(2) emissions by 48.0%,which has broad industrial application prospects. | Wanxiang Zhang Wuji Zhao Shuhang Ren Yucui Hou Weize Wu | 2023 | Green Chemical Engineering2023,4,3: | 0 |
| 11 | Systematic review and Meta-analysis of acupuncture and acupoint catgut embedding for the treatment of abdominal obesity显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To systematically review and analyze the effect of acupuncture and acupoint catgut embedding in treatment of abdominal obesity to provide a more reasonable clinical treatment regimen.METHODS:Ten databases were searched as of August 2022:the English databases Pub Med,Embase,Cochrane Library,Web of Science,Wiley,and Scopus and the Chinese databases China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database,China Science and Technology Journal Database,Wanfang,and Sino Med/Chinese Biomedical Literature Database.Randomized controlled trials(RCTs)of acupuncture and acupoint catgut embedding as the main interventions to treat abdominal obesity were extracted.The investigators imported the citations into End Note version X9.1 for deduplication,screening,extraction,and integration.The risk of bias in the included RCTs was assessed according to the Cochrane Handbook.Rev Man 5.4 software was used to conduct a Meta-analysis of RCTs that met the inclusion criteria.RESULTS:Thirteen RCTs(1069 patients)were included in this study,and the data of eleven RCTs(966 patients)were include in the Meta-analysis.The results showed that acupoint catgut embedding can significantly change the weight and waist circumference of patients with abdominal obesity when compared to sham acupuncture or no treatment[mean difference(MD)=2.32,95%confidence interval(CI)(1.88,2.76),P<0.00001],[MD=3.47,95%CI(1.99,4.94),P<0.00001].The change in hip circumference after acupuncture was also significant[MD=0.89,95%CI(0.12,1.66),P=0.02].CONCLUSION:This study found that acupuncture and acupoint catgut embedding can effectively treat abdominal obesity,therefore,these interventions can be used as clinical supplements and alternative therapies.The diagnostic criteria of the existing studies and the intervention measures of the control group are not unified.It will be necessary to improve the clinical study protocols and expand the sample size to further validate the reliability of the results obtained of this study. | YE Wujie XING Jingyu YU Zekai HU Xingang ZHAO Yan | 2022 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2022,42,6: | 0 |
