1Effect of traditional Chinese comprehensive therapy on gestation in patients with previously failed in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To explore the effect of traditional Chinese comprehensive therapy(TCCT) on promoting gestation in patients with previously failed in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer(IVF-ET) because of kidney deficiency, liver stagnation, and blood stasis(KLB).METHODS: Sixty-seven patients were enrolled in this study and divided into two groups: a trial group with 35 patients and a control group with 32 patients. The trial group was given TCCT for 3months, then administered IVF-ET or awaited natural pregnancy. The control group was administered IVF-ET without TCCT 3 months after the previous IVF-ET or natural pregnancy attempt. The patterns of KLB were observed both before and after treatment. The natural pregnancy rate of the two groups was calculated after treatment. Differences between the two groups were compared after using IVF-ET treatment again in fertilized egg number and fertilization rate were evaluated.RESULTS: After treatment with TCM comprehensive therapy, seven patients in the treatment group became pregnant, while there were no successful conceptions in the control group. The difference in clinical pregnancy rate in the initial cycle and transfer cycle of IVF were significantly different(P <0.05). The trial group had a significantly higher conception rate than that of the control group(P <0.05).CONCLUSION: TCCT can promote the natural pregnancy rate in patients with previously failed IVF-ET.TCCT could increase patients' fertilized egg number, fertilization rate, pregnancy rate, and clinical pregnancy rate after another IVF-ET treatment.TCCT can also relieve the symptoms of KLB.Xu Xiaojuan Jia Weining Cheng Shuhua Zhong Yanmei Xia Wanting Zeng Qian 2015Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2015,35,4:2
2Deleterious effects of electron beam irradiation on development and reproduction of tomato/potato psyllids, Bactericera cockerelli显示文摘The potato/tomato psyllid Bactericera cockerelli causes serious damage to several solanaceous crops by direct feeding and vectoring Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum,a bacterial pathogen.Electron beam(eBeam)irradiation is an environmentally friendly,chemical-free alternative method that is increasing in use for disinfestation of insect pests. We hypothesize that this irradiation technology will have detrimental effects on potato psyllid and thus impede its disease vectoring. To this end,we explored the effects of eBeam treatment ranging from 50 to 500 Gy on survival, development and reproduction of this pest.Impact on psyllids was apparently dose-dependent.When irradiated at 350 Gy,eggs could not hatch,1st instar nymphs failed to emerge, and although a small portion of irradiated 5th instar nymphs survived, the emerged adults were mostly deformed.Abnormality in eclosed adults suggests harmful effects of eBeam on metamorphosis.Reproduction was seriously impaired when female psyllids were exposed to eBeam at the 5th instar nymphal or young adult stage, presumably due to inability to form oocytes. In addition, reciprocal crosses between irradiated and untreated psyllids indicated that female psyllids were more radiosensitive than males to eBeam.Taken together, these findings indicate that eBeam negatively impacted potato psyllid development and reproduction, which would inevitably compromise its disease transmission capacity.A dose of 350 Gy can be considered as a reference dose for effective control of potato psyllids.Jiaxin Lei Jia Meng Ivy WChen Weining Cheng Andrea L.Beam Md-Sajedul Islam Woodward D.Bailey Suresh Pillai Keyan Zhu-Salzman 2020Insect Science2020,27,6:0
3Microbiota-mediated shaping of mouse spleen structure and immune function characterized by scRNA-seq and Stereo-seq显示文摘Gut microbes exhibit complex interactions with their hosts and shape an organism's immune system throughout its lifespan. As the largest secondary lymphoid organ, the spleen has a wide range of immunological functions. To explore the role of microbiota in regulating and shaping the spleen,we employ scRNA-seq and Stereo-seq technologies based on germ-free(GF)mice to detect differences in tissue size, anatomical structure, cell types, functions, and spatial molecular characteristics. We identify 18 cell types,9 subtypes of T cells, and 7 subtypes of B cells.Gene differential expression analysis reveals that the absence of microorganisms results in alterations in erythropoiesis within the red pulp region and congenital immune deficiency in the white pulp region.Stereo-seq results demonstrate a clear hierarchy of immune cells in the spleen, including marginal zone(MZ)macrophages,MZ B cells, follicular B cells and T cells, distributed in a well-defined pattern from outside to inside. However, this hierarchical structure is disturbed in GF mice.Ccr7 and Cxcl13 chemokines are specifically expressed in the spatial locations of T cells and B cells, respectively. We speculate that the microbiota may mediate the structural composition or partitioning of spleen immune cells by modulating the expression levels of chemokines.Yin Zhang Juan Shen Wei Cheng Bhaskar Roy Ruizhen Zhao Tailiang Chai Yifei Sheng Zhao Zhang Xueting Chen Weiming Liang Weining Hu Qijun Liao Shanshan Pan Wen Zhuang Yangrui Zhang Rouxi Chen Junpu Mei Hong Wei Xiaodong Fang 2023Journal of Genetics and Genomics2023,50,9:0
