1The role of endotoxin,TNF-α,and IL-6 in inducing the state of growth hormone insensitivity显示文摘AIM: Critical illnesses such as sepsis, trauma, and burnscause a growth hormone insensitivity, which leads to anincreased negative nitrogen balance. Endotoxin isgenerously released into blood under these conditions andstimulates the production of proinflammatory cytokines suchas TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-1, which may play a very importantrole in inducing the growth hormone insensitivity. Theobjective of this current study was to investigate the roie ofendotoxin, TNF-α and IL-6 in inducing the growth hormoneinsensitivity at the receptor and post-receptor levels.METHODS: Spague-Dawley rats were injected withendotoxin, TNF-α, and IL-6, respectively and part of ratsinjected with endotoxin was treated with exogenoussomatotropin simultaneously. All rats were killed at differenttime points. The expression of IGF-I, GHR, SOCS-3 and β-actin mRNA in the liver was detected by RT-PCR and the GHlevels were measured by radioimmunoassay, the levels ofTNF-α and IL-6 were detected by ELISA.RESULTS: There was no significant difference in serous GHlevels between experimental group and control rats afterendotoxin injection, however, liver IGF-I mRNA expressionhad been obviously down-regulated in endotoxemic rats.Liver GHR mRNA expression also had a predominant down-regulation after endotoxin injection. The lowest regulation ofliver IGF-I mRNA expression occurred at 12 h after LPSinjection, being decreased by 53 % compared with controlrats. For GHR mRNA expression, the lowest expressionoccurred at 8 h and had a 81% decrease. Although SOCS-3mRNA was weakly expressed in control rats, it was stronglyup-regulated after LPS injection and had a 7. 84 timesincrease compared with control rats. Exogenous GH couldenhance IGF-I mRNA expression in control rats, but it didfail to prevent the decline in IGF-I mRNA expression inendotoxemic rats. Endotoxin stimulated the production ofTNF-α and IL-6, and the elevated IL-6 levels was shown apositive correlation with increased SOCS-3 mRNAexpression. The liver GHR mRNA expression was obviouslydownregulated after TNF-α iv injection and had a 40 %decrease at 8 h, but the liver SOCS-3 mRNA expression wasthe 4.94 times up-regulation occurred at 40 min after IL-6injection.CONCLUSION: The growth hormone insensitivity could beinduced by LPS injection, which was associated with down-regulated GHR mRNA expression at receptor level and withup-regulated SOCS-3 mRNA expression at post-receptorlevel. 2Multiscale characteristics of the rainy season rainfall and interdecadal decaying of summer monsoon in North China显示文摘This paper focuses on the rainfall spectrum and its evolution of North China in rainy season with summer monsoon decaying in interdecadal time scale. The interan-nual component of the rainfall is the dominant part, ac-counting for 85% of the total variance, and has been changed significantly during the last 30 years. According to wavelet analysis its 5a periodic spectrum suddenly disappeared in the late 1960s, and its biennial oscillation gradually become weaker and weaker since 1970, accompanied by the summer monsoon decaying. Contrarily, the interdecadal component is principal in the summer monsoon over North China and is very similar to the counterpart of the rainfall. Their interde-cadal parts are significantly correlated, and the correlation coefficient is nearly equal to the one of the original sequences. 3Deformation characteristics and safety assessment of a high-speed railway induced by undercutting metro tunnel excavation显示文摘Stratum deformation(settlement) is a challenging issue in tunnel engineering, especially when construction of metro tunnels has to undercut high-speed railway. For this purpose, we used the FLAC30 software to analyze the stratum settlement characteristics of high-speed railway at different crossing angles intersected by metro tunnel, in terms of ground settlement trough, stratum slip line and irregularity of ballastless tracks. According to the evolution of the stratum settlement at different angle regions, an optimized angle is proposed for the actual project design. In order to reduce the influence of stratum settlement on the safety of high-speed railway, an approach of safety assessment is proposed for the shield engineering undercutting high-speed railway, as per Chinese specifications using numerical results and on-site conditions. A case study is conducted for the shield tunnel section crossing the Wuhan-Guangzhou High-speed Railway between the Guangzhou North Railway Station and the Huacheng Road Station, which represents the first metro tunnel project passing below a high-speed railway in China. A series of measures is taken to ensure the safe excavation of the shield tunnel and the operation of the high-speed railway. Different from Dempster theory, the reliability of evidences isn’t identical; and varies with the event. By weight evidence according to their reliability, the effect of unreliable evidence is reduced, and then get the fusion result that is closer to the truth. An example to expand the advantage of this method is given. 7Photoassisted fenton oxidation of refractory organics in UASB-pretreated leachate显示文摘Nearly 91% of organic pollutants in Hong Kong leachate could be effectively removed by the UASB(upflow anaerobic sludge blanket) process followed by the fenton coagulation. The COD (chemical oxygen demand) of leachate was lowered from an average of 5620 mg/L to 1910 mg/L after the UASB treatment at 37℃, and was further lowered to 513 mg/L after fenton coagulation. The remaining refractory residues could be further removed by photochemical oxidation with the addition of H 2O 2. The BOD/COD ratio was greatly increased from 0.062 to 0.142, indicating the biodegradability of organic residues was improved. The photochemical oxidation for the fenton\|coagulation supernatant was most effective at pH 3\4, with the addition of 800 mg/L of H 2O 2, and UV radiation time of 30 minutes. 8Modeling permafrost properties in the Qinghai-Xizang(Tibet) Plateau显示文摘Water and heat dynamics in the active layer at a monitoring site in the Tanggula Mountains, located in the permafrost region of the Qinghai-Xizang(Tibet) Plateau(QXP), were studied using the physical-process-based COUPMODEL model, including the interaction between soil temperature and moisture under freeze-thaw cycles. Meteorological, ground temperature and moisture data from different depths within the active layer were used to calibrate and validate the model. The results indicate that the calibrated model satisfactorily simulates the soil temperatures from the top to the bottom of the soil layers as well as the moisture content of the active layer in permafrost regions. The simulated soil heat flux at depths of 0 to 20 cm was consistent with the monitoring data, and the simulations of the radiation balance components were reasonable. Energy consumed for phase change was estimated from the simulated ice content during the freeze/thaw processes from 2007 to 2008. Using this model, the active layer thickness and the energy consumed for phase change were predicted for future climate warming scenarios. The model predicts an increase of the active layer thickness from the current 330 cm to approximately 350–390 cm as a result of a 1–2°C warming. However, the effect active layer thickness of more precipitation is limited when the precipitation is increased by 20%–50%. 10Rainfall spectrum change in North China and its possible mechanism显示文摘The seasonal distribution of the rainfall in North China has changed greatly since 1977, with more rainfall in spring and less in July, August, and September (JAS). Wavelet analysis showed that the JAS rainfall underwent an abrupt spectrum change in the mid-1960s. Its interannual variability has declined while the interdecadal component has become the dominant mode, associated with the dry climate. Correlation analysis found that the JAS rainfall is negatively correlated with the departures of the 500 hPa geopotential height significantly over the northwest and southwest of China, and positively correlated with the summer monsoon over eastern China. 12Oxidation Resistance Coatings of Ir-Zr and Ir by Double Glow Plasma显示文摘Oxidation resistance coatings of Ire40 at.% Zr and Ir were produced onto Mo substrates by double glow plasma technology. The oxidation resistances of the coatings were evaluated at high temperature. Ire Zr coating consisted of two layers: the primary layer close to the substrate was composed of dense columnar grains and the second layer was composed of dense grains of nanometric size. The mass gain of Ir coating above 800 C was about 1.35% due to the formation of solid IrO2. The mass loss of Ir coating was about 5.3% due to the formation of gaseous oxide IrO3when being held at 1227 C for 30 min. The substrate was protected more effectively by multilayer than monolayer coating of Ir in oxidizing environment. The Ire Zr coating was well bonded to the substrate after oxidation at 800 C. After oxidation at 1000 C, the Ire Zr coating was poorly bonded to the substrate. 14Growth mechanism of polycrystalline Ir coating by double glow plasma technology显示文摘Pure Ir coating was produced by double glow plasma technology.Growth mechanism of the Ir coating was investigated.The Ir coating was composed of irregular compacted columnar grains with lots of nanovoids appeared on the interface between the coating and the substrate.The Ir coating was polycrystalline with a preferred (220) orientation due to the initial nuclei with preferred growth on the surface of the substrate.The formation mechanism of the Ir coating depended on kinetic adsorption and diffusion process with nucleation,coalescence and thickness growth.At the beginning of the deposition process,the growth mode of the coating was mainly controlled by the nucleation rate.Due to the low substrate temperature resulting in low mobility of the deposited atoms,some micropores and nanoviods were present at the interface.With the deposition process,the substrate temperature was increased and then kept steady.The growth of the coating was governed by the growth rate.The high substrate temperature supported enough energy to surface mobility of adatoms.Wangping WU Zhaofeng CHEN 2012Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2012,25,6:3
