1Image formation of brain function in patients suffering from knee osteoarthritis treated with moxibustion显示文摘OBJECTIVES:Functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMRI) technology was used to study changes to the resting state blood flow in the brains of patients with knee osteoarthritis(KOA) before and after treatment with moxibustion at the acupoint of the left Dubi(ST 35) and to probe the cerebral mechanism underlying the effect of moxibustion.METHODS:The resting state brain function of 30 patients with left KOA was scanned with fMRI before and after treatment with moxibustion.The analytic methods of fractional amplitude of low frequency fluctuation(fALFF) and regional homogeneity(ReHo) were used to observe changes in resting state brain function.RESULTS:The fALFF values of the right cerebrum,extra-nucleus,left cerebellum,left cerebrum and white matter of patients after moxibustion treatment were higher than before treatment,and the fALFF values of the precentral gyrus,frontal lobe and occipital lobe were lower than before treatment(P<0.05,K≥85).The ReHo values of the thalamus,extra-nucleus and parietal lobe of patients were much higher than those before moxibustion treatment,and the ReHo values of the right cerebrum,left cerebrum and frontal lobe were lower than before treatment(P<0.05,K≥85).CONCLUSION:The influence of moxibustion on obvious changes in brain regions basically conforms to the way that pain and warmth is transmitted in the body,and the activation of sensitive systems in the body may be objective evidence of channel transmission.The regulation of brain function by moxibustion is not in a single brain region but rather in a network of many brain regions.Hongwu Xie Fangming Xu Rixin Chen Tianyou Luo Mingren Chen Weidong Fang Fajin Lü Fei Wu Yune Song Jun Xiong 2013Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2013,33,2:7
2Evaluation of non-typical diffuse axonal injury by magnetic resonance techniques显示文摘Because diffuse axonal injury (DAI) lacks specific clinical manifestations, it is difficult to evaluate DAI using computer tomography or conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). This study investigated the value of magnetic resonance techniques using fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) and proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1HMRS) for diagnosing DAI. The corpus callosum and basal nuclei were analyzed using morphological and functional imaging. Similar to the DAI group, the non-typical DAI group exhibited similar lesion characteristics on FLAIR, as well as post-injury neurochemical and molecular changes in the corpus callosum, as detected by 1HMRS. However, there were differences in degree and severity of injury. Compared to conventional MRI, FLAIR significantly increased lesion detection. 1HMRS determined biochemical metabolism changes in midline structures following DAI, which resulted in increased diagnosis of non-typical DAI, which displayed similar lesion distribution, morphology, and function as DAI. 9Exploring pathogenesis in subjects with subjective Tinnitus having kidney deficiency pattern in terms of Traditional Chinese Medicine based on serum metabolic profiles显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the metabolic pathogenesis in subjects with subjective tinnitus(ST)having kidney deficiency pattern(KDP)(ST/KDP) in terms of Traditional Chinese Medicine.METHODS: Three groups of subjects, including healthy individuals, subjects with ST/KDP, and subjects who were healthy initially and then developed ST/KDP one year later(healthy → ST/KDP),were recruited for this study. Serum metabolic profiles of all subjects were analyzed using ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadruple-time-of-flight mass spectrometry. The metabolic characteristics of the ST/KDP subjects were determined, and the corresponding biomarkers were predicted. The metabolomics data from the healthy → ST/KDP subjects were collected for further verification.RESULTS: Twelve metabolites in the ST/KDP subjects were different from those of the healthy control subjects. Of these metabolites, according to the prediction, except for octanoic acid, other metabolites might characterize ST/KDP. Ten metabolites at the outcome ST/KDP stage were different from those at the initial(control) stage. Through the comparison of these metabolites with the predicted metabolites, five common metabolites, including upregulated glutamate, serotonin, oroticacid and 8-oxoguanine, as well as downregulated taurine, were found. These common metabolites were significantly associated with canonical pathways including calcium signaling, γ-aminobutyric acid(GABA) receptor signaling, purine and pyrimidine biosynthesis, taurine biosynthesis, and serotonin receptor signaling.CONCLUSION: The metabolic pathogenesis in ST/KDP subjects was characterized by upregulated glutamate, serotonin, orotic acid and 8-oxoguanine, as well as downregulated taurine, additionally, perturbations of calcium signaling, GABA receptor signaling, purine and pyrimidine biosynthesis, taurine biosynthesis, and serotonin receptor signaling.Tan Yong Shen Shanshan Guan Fulan He Bing Lu Cheng Xiao Cheng Jiang Miao Zhao Ning Li Li Cheng Shiping Zu Xianpeng Zhang Weidong Liu Xinru Lü Aiping 2018Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2018,38,5:1
