1Success of photodynamic therapy in palliating patients with nonresectable cholangiocarcinoma: A systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘AIM To perform a systematic review and meta-analysis on clinical outcomes of photodynamic therapy(PDT) in non-resectable cholangiocarcinoma. METHODS Included studies compared outcomes with photodynamic therapy and biliary stenting(PDT group) vs biliary stenting only(BS group) in palliation of non-resectable cholangiocarcinoma. Articles were searched in MEDLINE, PubM ed, and EMBASE. Pooled proportions were calculated using fixed and random effects model. Heterogeneity among studies was assessed using the I2 statistic.RESULTS Ten studies(n = 402) that met inclusion criteria were included in this analysis. The P for χ2 heterogeneity for all the pooled accuracy estimates was > 0.10. Pooled odds ratio for successful biliary drainage(decrease in bilirubin level > 50% within 7days after stenting)in PDT vs BS group was 4.39(95%CI: 2.35-8.19).Survival period in PDT and BS groups were 413.04d(95%CI: 349.54-476.54) and 183.41(95%CI:136.81-230.02) respectively. The change in Karnofsky performance scores after intervention in PDT and BS groups were +6.99(95%CI: 4.15-9.82) and-3.93(95%CI:-8.63-0.77) respectively. Odds ratio for postintervention cholangitis in PDT vs BS group was 0.57(95%CI: 0.35-0.94). In PDT group, 10.51%(95%CI:6.94-14.72) had photosensitivity reactions that were self-limiting. Subgroup analysis of prospective studies showed similar results, except the incidence of cholangitis was comparable in both groups. CONCLUSION In palliation of unresectable cholangiocarcinoma, PDT seems to be significantly superior to BS alone. 2Chronic haemorrhagic radiation proctitis: A review显示文摘Chronic haemorrhagic radiation proctitis(CHRP) is a difficult problem faced by the patients following radiation for pelvic malignancy. There is no standardtreatment for this condition, but many methods of treatment are available. The aim of this study was to review the literature to see whether there is an improvement in the available evidence in comparison with previously published systematic reviews in treating patients with CHRP. The Pub Med/Medline database and Google Scholar search was selectively searched. Studies, which treated patients with rectal bleeding due to chronic radiation proctitis or CHRP, were included. Seventy studies were finally selected out of which 14 were randomized controlled clinical trials. Though these studies could not be compared, it could be seen that there was an improvement in the methodology of the studies. There was an objective assessment of symptoms, signs and an objective assessment of outcomes. But, still, there were only a few studies that looked into the quality of life following treatment of CHRP. To increase recruitment to trials, a national registry of cases with established late radiation toxicity would facilitate the further improvement of such studies. Some of the conclusions that could be reached based on the available evidence are 4% formalin should be the first line treatment for patients with CHRP. Formalin and argon plasma coagulation(APC) are equally effective, but formalin is better for severe disease. Refractory patients, not responding to formalin or APC, need to be referred for hyperbaric oxygen therapy or surgery. 4Graphene for energy harvesting/storage devices and printed electronics显示文摘Graphene-based materials are intriguing from the perspective of fundamental science and technology because they are non-toxic, chemically and thermally tolerant, and mechanically robust. Graphene exhibits superior electrical conductivity, high surface area and a broad electrochemical window that may be particularly advantageous for their applications in energy storage devices. In addition, graphene can be prepared in the form of a colloidal suspension with adjustable solubility and thus is suitable for printing applications and offers both transparency and good conductivity at the same time. In this review, applications of graphene in solar cells, batteries, supercapacitors and fuel cells are summarized with the latest developments. 5Neuroprotective effects of INT-777 against Aβ1-42-induced cognitive impairment, neuroinflammation, apoptosis, and synaptic dysfunction in mice显示文摘OBJECTIVE To investigate the neuroprotective effects of TGR5 agonist INT-777 in the Aβ_(1-42)-treated mouse model of acute neurotoxicity.METHODS Cognitive impairment was induced by single intracerebroventricular injection of aggregated Aβ_(1-42)(410 pmol per mouse;5 μL)into the mouse brain in normal ICR mice.After3 d,INT-777(0.75,1.5 or 3.0 μg per mouse) was infused into the same site.Another 3 d later,the cognition function was evaluated by Morris water maze(MWM),novel objective recognition(NOR),and Y maze tests.Furthermore,the levels of TGR5,TNF-α,IL-1β,IL-6,NF-κB p65,Iba1,caspase 3,Bcl-2,Bax,PSD95,and synaptophysin in the hippocampus and frontal cortex were detected using Western blotting.Microglia activation in the hippocampal CA1,CA3 and DG regions and frontal cortex were detected by immunohistochemistry.TUNEL staining was used to detect the apoptotic cells.The number of spines in the hippocampal CA1,CA3 and DG regions and frontal cortex was detected by GolgiCox staining.RESULTS INT-777(1.5 or 3.0 μg per mouse) significantly ameliorated memory impairment in the Aβ_(1-42)-treated mice,evidenced by increased the time spent in the target quadrant(P<0.05),and the number of target crossings(P<0.05) in the MWM test,increased the discrimination index in the NOR test(P<0.05),and increased the number of correct choices(P<0.05,P<0.01) and decreased the latency(P<0.05) to enter the shock-free compartment in the Y-maze test.Importantly,this treatment reversed Aβ_(1-42)-induced TGR5 down-regulation(P<0.05,P<0.01),suppressed the increase of nuclear NF-κB p65(P<0.05,P<0.01) and mitigated neuroinflammation,evidenced by lower proinflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α(P<0.05),IL-1β(P<0.05),IL-6(P<0.05,P<0.01),and less Iba1-positive cells in the hippocampal CA1,CA3 and DG regions and frontal cortex(P<0.05,P<0.01) as well as the protein level of Iba1.INT-777(1.5 or3.0 μg per mouse) also pronouncedly suppressed apoptosis through the reduction of TUNEL-positive cells(P<0.05,P<0.01),decreased activation of caspase 3(P<0.05),increased ratio of Bcl-2/Bax(P<0.05,P<0.01),and ameliorated synaptic dysfunction via promoting dendritic spines generation(P<0.05,P<0.01) with the upregulation of PSD95(P<0.05) and synaptophysin proteins(P<0.05).CONCLUSION INT-777 has potent neuroprotective effects against Aβ_(1-42)-induced neurotoxicity,which suggests that the activation of TGR5 could be a novel and promising strategy for the treatment of AD.WU Xian LYU Yang-ge DU Yi-feng CHEN Fang Miranda N REED HU Mei Vishnu SUPPIRAMANIAM TANG Su-su HONG Hao 2018中国药理学与毒理学杂志2018,32,9:6
6Effect of neoadjuvant chemotherapy on the expression of hormone receptors and Ki67 in Chinese breast cancer patients:A retrospective study of 525 patients显示文摘This study was designed to investigate the effect of neoadjuvant chemotherapy on the expression of hormone receptors and Ki67 in Chinese female breast cancer patients. The expression of estrogen receptor(ER), progesterone receptor(PR) and Ki67 among 525 neoadjuvant chemotherapy cases was studied by immunohistochemistry.Differences between specimens made through preoperative core needle biopsy and excised tissue biopsy were observed. The positive rates of ER, PR and Ki67 in core needle biopsy and excised tissue biopsy were 65.3% and 63.2%, 51.0% and 42.6%, 65.6% and 43.4%, respectively. The expression of ER, PR and Ki67 in core needle biopsy and excised tissue biopsy had no statistically significant difference. However, after neoadjuvant chemotherapy, the discordance rates of ER, PR and Ki67 were 15.2%(79/521), 26.9%(140/520) and 44.8%(225/502), respectively. The ER, PR and Ki67 status changed from positive to negative in 7.5%(39/521), 13.3%(69/520) and 21.1%(106/502) of the patients, whereas ER, PR and Ki67 status changed from negative to positive in 7.7%(40/521), 13.6%(71/520)and 23.7%(119/502) of the patients, respectively. 9Diagnostic efficacy of Ziehl-Neelsen method against fluorescent microscopy in detection of acid fast bacilli显示文摘Objective:To investigate the application of Ziehl-Neelsen(Z-N) and fluorescent microscopy in detection of acid fast bacilli(AFB).Methods:Duplicate smears were prepared from 260 sputum samples and stained with Z-N and fluorescent staining(FS) methods.The efficiency of both methods in primary diagnosis of tuberculosis were evaluated.Results:The smears were positive for AFB in 15(5.77%) samples by Z-N staining method and in 16(6.15%) samples by FS method.The sensitivity and specificity of Z-N staining method against FS method were 93.75% and 100%respectively.Conclusions:Though lesser cost-effective than Z-N,FS method is a more sensitive and better case finding tool in detection of AFB.Soham Gupta Vishnu Prasad Shenoy Indira Bairy Muralidharan S 2010Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2010,3,4:3

11乳腺癌患者携邛PICC化疗并发导管败血症的诊治探讨(英文)显示文摘Objective:The aim of our research was to study the incidence,clinical diagnosis and treatment of peripherally inserted central catheters(PICC)-related sepsis in breast cancer patients carrying PICC catheter for chemotherapy.Methods:The data of the incidence,diagnosis and treatment of PICC-related sepsis in 215 cases of breast cancer patients carrying PICC catheter for chemotherapy in our hospital from August,2009 to September,2011 were analyzed retrospectively.Results:216 PICCs had been successfully applied in 215 cases of breast cancer patients and followed for a total of 19,109 catheter days,(median catheterization duration,88.9 days,range 1-212 days).Among those,3(1.39%) PICCs were removed respectively as a result of PICC-related sepsis in 29,73 and 108 catheter-days(median 70 d),with a rate of 0.16 per 1000 catheter-days.Conclusion:Chemotherapeutic treatment via PICC for breast cancer patients is one of the most secure and effective measures but there exists small number of cases in which PICC catheter related sepsis is possible.Careful observation of relevant symptoms and signs,early diagnosis and treatment,not relying completely on blood culture tests and timely removal of PICC catheter can be very effective in treating PICC-related sepsis in these patients.Lei Xing Vishnu Prasad Adhikari Lingquan Kong Hongyuan Li Guosheng Ren Feng Luo Kainan Wu 2012The Chinese-German Journal of Clinical Oncology2012,11,2:3

13Management of glaucoma in pregnancy:risks or choices,a dilemma?显示文摘·The treatment of glaucoma in and around pregnancy offers the unique challenge of balancing the risk of vision loss to the mother as against the potential harm to the fetus or newborn. Most anti-glaucoma drugs(i.e.beta-blockers, prostaglandin analogues, carbonic anhydrase inhibitors topical and systemic, cholinergics,anticholinesterases, and apraclonidine) are considered category C agents and ophthalmologists are usually limited to treating patients with the category B drugs of brimonidine and dipivefrin. Brimonidine is generally the preferred first-line drug in the first, second and early third trimester. Late in the third trimester, brimonidine should be discontinued because it can induce central nervous system depression in newborns wherein topical carbonic anhydrase inhibitors may be the optimal choice.Glaucoma surgery can be performed with caution in second and third trimester if the patients have a strong indication for the procedure. However, anesthetics,sedative agents, and antimetabolites still have potential risk for the fetus. Argon laser trabeculoplasty(ALT) or selective laser trabeculoplasty(SLT) is an alternative treatment that can be performed in all trimesters.Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors and β-blockers are certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics for use during nursing. However, low doses of these medications should be considered when used in the breast feeding period. 14被动超声冲洗对弯曲根管的碎屑清理能力和根管形态的影响显示文摘目的:评价被动超声冲洗在弯曲根管内碎屑清理能力和根管偏移量。方法:选取下颌磨牙近中弯曲根管36个,弯曲度在25°以上,以机用XP-endo Shaper根管锉预备根管。根据弯曲长度(curved length,CL)和冲洗方式分为A1组(CL>3 mm,注射器冲洗)、B1组(CL>3 mm,超声K锉冲洗)、C1组(CL>3 mm,irrisafe超声锉冲洗)、A2组(CL<3 mm,注射器冲洗)、B2组(CL<3 mm,超声K锉冲洗)和C2组(CL<3 mm,irrisafe超声锉冲洗),每组6个样本。对所有样本冲洗前、后进行Micro-CT扫描,计算冲洗后根管内体积增加量和根管偏移量。采用SPSS 22.0软件包对数据进行统计学分析。结果:在CL>3 mm的根管根尖区,PUI+irrisafe组的根管体积增量显著高于PUI+K锉和注射器冲洗(P<0.05),并且在距离根尖孔5 mm处PUI+irrisafe形成的根管偏移量显著低于PUI+K锉(P<0.05);与注射器冲洗相比无显著差异(P>0.05)。在CL<3 mm的根管中,PUI+irrisafe组和PUI+K锉组的根管体积增量均显著高于注射器冲洗(P<0.05),但根管偏移量与注射器冲洗无显著差异(P<0.05)。结论:在弯曲长度较大的根管中,被动超声冲洗结合预弯锉可获得更好的清理效果;而在弯曲长度较小的根管中,被动超声冲洗结合K锉和预弯锉均安全有效。PRIYA Vishnu 邵皎皎 封菲 张旗 2022上海口腔医学2022,31,1:2

16Factors Influencing the Direct Electrochemical Reduction of Nb_2O_5 Pellets to Nb Metal in Molten Chloride Salts显示文摘Powder compacted and sintered Nb_2O_5 pellets were cathodically polarised against graphite anode in calcium chloride melt at 1173 K to study the influence of various factors on the electrochemical reduction of the oxide.The parameters were;duration and temperature of electrolysis,open porosity of pellets,nature of anode,mode of electrolysis and configuration of the oxide cathode.The experiments were also conducted in KC1,KC1-25 mol%CaCl_2 and NaCl melts to understand the effect of melt composition on the electroreduction.Different Ca-Nb-O and Nb-O intermediates were found in the pellets electrolysed for different durations of time in CaCl_2 melt which eventually reduced to Nb.The current efficiency of the process decreased with increasing duration of electrolysis.Decrease in electrolysis temperature from 1173 to 1073 K led to the decrease in the rate of reduction of the oxide pellets.Pellets with high open porosity reduced faster.Carbon contamination of the melt was relatively less when pyrolytic graphite was used as anode.Of all the melts studied,the reduction was found to be better in calcium chloride melt,that too when alumina crucible was used as container of the melt.D.Sri Maha Vishnu N.Sanil K.S.Mohandas K.Nagarajan 2017Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2017,30,3:2

18微管不稳定蛋白stathmin在炎症性皮肤病引起的慢性瘙痒患者中的作用显示文摘目的:研究微管不稳定蛋白stathmin在炎症性皮肤病引起的慢性瘙痒患者发病机制中的作用。方法:收集35例炎症性皮肤病引起的慢性瘙痒患者的皮损标本和3例正常人的皮肤标本。用免疫组化(immunohistochemistry,IHC)法检测皮肤活检标本中stathmin的表达。用苏木精-伊红染色(hematoxylin-eosinstaining,HE染色)检测患者表皮组织中病理结构的变化。结果:IHC法检测结果显示,与正常对照的皮肤相比,stathmin在患者皮损中表皮角质形成细胞、毛囊上皮细胞和免疫炎症细胞中高表达。HE染色显示慢性瘙痒患者皮损处增厚、角化过度,并伴有炎症性细胞浸润。结论:研究结果初步表明stathmin在慢性瘙痒的机制中发挥作用。Stathmin通过在角质形成细胞、上皮细胞和免疫炎症细胞中的表达影响皮肤屏障功能,促进慢性瘙痒的进程。Stathmin可能是慢性瘙痒治疗的新靶点,对慢性瘙痒的治疗和新药研发具有重要意义。茹丽艳 蔡涛 余维华 柯美玲 赵楠 Vishnu Prasad Adhikari 2017重庆医科大学学报2017,42,5:2
19Expedited extraction of xylan from corncob by power ultrasound显示文摘Some lignocellulosic biomass like corncob contains a large amount of xylan,a valuable material for applications in food,chemical and pharmaceutical industries.Conventional extraction of xylan is a time consuming process,requiring 12 to 24 hours to complete.In this study,the efficacy of power ultrasound for reducing the extraction time and increasing the xylan yield was investigated.Two acoustic energy densities(0.18 W/mL and 0.45 W/mL)of the power ultrasound were applied to corncob for 10,20,30,and 60 min.The treated samples were steamed at 110,118 and 121℃for 30 min.At 0.45 W/mL acoustic energy density and 121℃steaming temperature,ultrasonic treatment was able to extract 39%of xylan in 43 min.In contrast,the conventional treatment was able to extract only 34%of xylan in 24 h.Power ultrasound assisted extraction reduced the processing time by 97%in addition to yield increase by 14.7%.Power ultrasound can be a potential technology for enhanced xylan extraction from corncob to result in significant processing time savings.Wade Yang Vishnu K.Ajapur Kathiravan Krishnamurthy Hao Feng Ruijin Yang Taha M.Rababah 2009International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2009,2,4:2
