| 1 | Flotation studies on low grade graphite ore from eastern India显示文摘A low grade graphite ore from eastern India was beneficiated by flotation to improve its quality. The ore was composed of 87.80% ash and 8.59% fixed carbon. Primary coarse wet grinding(d80: 186 lm) followed by rougher flotation in Denver flotation cell using diesel as collector and pine oil as frother yielded a rougher concentrate. Regrinding(d80: 144 lm) of this rougher concentrate was opted for further liberation of graphite. It was followed by cleaning in laboratory flotation column. This combined process of relatively coarse primary grinding followed by regrinding and cleaning in flotation column resulted in final concentrate of 7.44% yield with 89.65% fixed carbon and 6.00% ash. This approach of two-stage grinding to recover the flake graphite at the coarsest possible grind can help to minimize grinding energy costs. | 16 | Lygodium flexuosum extract down regulates the expression of proinflammatory cytokines in CCl_4 -induced hepatotoxicity显示文摘Objective:To examine the downregulalion of proinflammatory cytokines in a time dependant manner on carbon tetrachloride induced toxicity in experimental animals.Methods:CCl4(150μL/100 g) was dissolved in com oil(1:1 v/v%) and administered orally,GroupⅠwas treated as normal control and received corn oil on 8th day.GroupⅡwas toxic control and was given a single dose of CCl4 on 8th days.GroupⅢwas treated with Lygodium flexuosum(L.flexuosum) n-hexane extract(200 mg/kg) for 8 days and on 8th day a single dose of CCl4 was received.GroupⅣ(negative contnil) received L.flexuosiim n-hexane extract(200 mg/kg) alone for 8 days.Results:Treatment with n-hexane extract prior to the administration of CCl4 significantly prevented an increase in serum AST,ALT,LDH activity and lipid peroxidation and prevented the depletion of glutathione (GSH).Rats treated with L.flexuosum had reduced mRNA levels of TGF-β1,TNF-αand IL-1βgenes in liver of CCl4 intoxicated rats when compared to CCl4 control as evidenced by RT-PCR. | 20 | How reliable is the ReaxFF potential for describing the structure of alkanethiols on gold?A molecular dynamics study显示文摘The structures of self-assembled monolayers(SAMs)of short(methyl)and long(hexyl)chain alkyl thiols on the clean gold(111)surface were modeled using for the Au–S interactions either the reactive ReaxFF potential or the well-known nonreactive Morse potential,while for the Au–Au interactions either the ReaxFF potential or an embeddedatom method(EAM).Analysis of the molecular dynamics(MD)trajectories of possible SAM structures suggests that disordering of interfacial Au atoms is definitely driven by the gold–sulphur interactions.Our MD results reveal a novel structure where two methanethiol molecules are bound to a gold adatom that has been lifted from the surface at 300 K,and the same kind of RS–Au–SR motif was also observed for hexanethiol at 600 K but not at 300 K.What is more,the above motif is only observed for the reactive ReaxFF potential.Moreover,these results are in clear agreement with recent experiments and more costly first principles-based MD simulations.These findings strongly support the use of reactive potentials such as ReaxFF for gathering an accurate description of Au–S interactions in inexpensive classical MD simulations. | Velachi Vasumathi José Luis Cagide Fajin Maria Natália Dias Soeiro Cordeiro | 2014 | International Journal of Modeling, Simulation, and Scientific Computing2014,5,S01: | 0 |
