1Chemical composition,antioxidant and antibacterial activities of essential oil and methanol extract of Artemisia vulgaris and Gaultheria fragrantissima collected from Nepal显示文摘Objective: To identify the chemical constituents and biological activities of essential oil and crude methanol extract of Artemisia vulgaris(A.vulgaris) and Gaultheria fragrantissima(G.fragrantissima).Methods: Phytochemical screening, total phenolic and flavonoid content, antibacterial activities, anti-oxidant assay of the crude extract were carried out to identify the biological activities and phytonutrients present in the extract.Furthermore, the chemical constituents present in the essential oil and crude methanol extract were analyzed using gas chromatography mass spectroscopy and high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) analysis.Results: Gas chromatography mass spectroscopy analysis of essential oil from the aerial part of A.vulgaris revealed 24 different compounds in it.Sabinene(11.29%), b-thujone(19.19%), chrysanthenone(4.48%), camphor(11.89%), borneol(4.44%) and germacrene D(8.42%) were the major compounds.Similarly, leaves of G.fragrantissima contained methyl salicylate(95%) and asarone(4.64%).Furthermore, methanol extract of leaves of A.vulgaris and G.fragrantissima were found rich in the total flavonoids and phenolic content.HPLC analysis of the methanol extract of leaves A.vulgaris revealed the presence of morin and luteolin, whereas rutin was found as a major flavonoids compound in the leaves of G.fragrantissima.Further, methanol extract of the A.vulgaris and G.fragrantissima showed the highest antioxidant and antibacterial properties compared to the essential oil.Conclusions: The HPLC analysis of the methanol extract of A.vulgaris shows the presence of luteolin and morin, whereas G.fragrantissima reveals the presence of rutin and a glycosylated flavonoids.Results reveal that A.vulgaris oil is the rich source of monoterpene and sesquiterpene compounds.Furthermore, A.vulgaris and G.fragrantissima are the rich source of the phenolic and flavonoids compounds and show good antioxidant and antibacterial activity.Bishnu Prasad Pandey Rupak Thapa Anil Upreti 2017Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2017,10,10:8

3Plant endemism in the Nepal Himalayas and phytogeographical implications显示文摘Nepal is located in the central part of the greater Himalayan range with a unique series of mountain chains formed by recent mountain building geological events. As one of the youngest mountains in the world it contributes to diversity of plants and also provided barriers to and corridors through which plants migrated during the ice ages. The higher altitudinal variation with the high mountains, deep river valleys and lowland plains combine with the effects of the summer monsoon and dry winter result with an extraordinary diversity of ecosystems including flora and fauna in a relatively small land area. The existing checklists for Nepal record some 6000 species of flowering plants and about 530 ferns. However, the botanical experts estimate that numbers may go up to 7000 when the poorly known remote regions are fully explored. The information on plant endemism in Nepal Himalaya is not adequately known as Nepal is still struggling to complete long awaited Flora of Nepal project. Endemic species are confined to specific areas and are the first to be affected by land use and other global changes. We sought to explore the spatial distribution of endemic plant species in Nepal in relation to the consequences associated with climatic and geologic changes over time in the region with the help of published literature. It was found that the endemism showed marked spatial variation between open moist habitat and dry inner valleys, the former with higher endemism. The updated records showed 312 flowering plant species to be endemic to Nepal with higher endemism around the elevation of 3800e4200 m at sea level. The recent human population explosion, intensified deforestation, habitat fragmentation and modern day environmental changes are posing greater threats to endemic plant in Nepal. The conservation status and threats to these peculiar species are unknown. 7Evaluation and Exploitation of Retrieval Algorithms for Estimating Biophysical Crop Variables Using Sentinel-2,Venus,and PRISMA Satellite Data显示文摘This paper is devoted to the development and testing of the optimal procedures for retrieving biophysical crop variables by exploiting the spectral information of current multispectral optical satellite Sentinel-2 and Venus and in view of the advent of the new Sino-EU hyperspectral satellite(e.g.,PRISMA,EnMAP,and GF-5).Two different methodologies devoted to the estimation of biophysical crop variables Leaf area index(LAI)and Leaf chlorophyll content(Cab)were evaluated:non-kernel-based and kernel-based Machine Learning Regression Algorithms(MLRA);Sentinel-2 and Venus data comparison for the analysis of the durum wheat-growing season.Results show that for Sentinel-2 data,Gaussian Process Regression(GPR)was the best performing algorithm for both LAI(R 2=0.89 and RMSE=0.59)and Cab(R 2=0.70 and RMSE=8.31).Whereas,for PRISMA simulated data the Kernel Ridge Regression(KRR)was the best performing algorithm among all the other MLRA(R 2=0.91 and RMSE=0.51)for LAI and(R 2=0.83 and RMSE=6.09)for Cab,respectively.Results of Sentinel-2 and Venus data for durum wheat-growing season were consistent with ground truth data and confirm also that SWIR bands,which are used as tie-points in the PROSAIL inversion,are extremely useful for an accurate retrieving of crop biophysical parameters.Raffaele CASA Deepak UPRETI Angelo PALOMBO Simone PASCUCCI Hao YANG Guijun YANG Wenjiang HUANG Stefano PIGNATTI 2020Journal of Geodesy and Geoinformation Science2020,3,4:2
