1Structural basis of SARS-CoV-2 3CL^pro and anti-COVID-19 drug discovery from medicinal plants显示文摘The recent pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)caused by SARS-CoV-2 has raised global health concerns.The viral 3-chymotrypsin-like cysteine protease(3CL^pro)enzyme controls coronavirus replication and is essential for its life cycle.3CL^pro is a proven drug discovery target in the case of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus(SARS-CoV)and Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus(MERS-CoV).Recent studies revealed that the genome sequence of SARS-CoV-2 is very similar to that of SARS-CoV.Therefore,herein,we analysed the 3CL^pro sequence,constructed its 3D homology model,and screened it against a medicinal plant library containing 32,297 potential anti-viral phytochemicals/traditional Chinese medicinal compounds.Our analyses revealed that the top nine hits might serve as potential anti-SARS-CoV-2 lead molecules for further optimisation and drug development process to combat COVID-19.Muhammad Tahir ul Qamar Safar MAlqahtani Mubarak AAlamri Ling-Ling Chen 2020Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2020,10,4:29
2Review:Assessing potential dietary toxicity of heavy metals in selected vegetables and food crops显示文摘Heavy metals, such as cadmium, copper, lead, chromium and mercury, are important environmental pollutants, particularly in areas with high anthropogenic pressure. Their presence in the atmosphere, soil and water, even in traces can cause serious problems to all organisms, and heavy metal bioaccumulation in the food chain especially can be highly dangerous to human health. Heavy metals enter the human body mainly through two routes namely: inhalation and ingestion, ingestion being the main route of exposure to these elements in human population. Heavy metals intake by human populations through food chain has been reported in many countries. Soil threshold for heavy metal toxicity is an important factor affecting soil environmental capacity of heavy metal and determines heavy metal cumulative loading limits. For soil-plant system, heavy metal toxicity threshold is the highest permissible content in the soil (total or bioavailable concentration) that does not pose any phytotoxic effects or heavy metals in the edible parts of the crops does not exceed food hygiene standards. Factors affecting the thresholds of dietary toxicity of heavy metal in soil-crop system include: soil type which includes soil pH, organic matter content, clay mineral and other soil chemical and biochemical properties; and crop species or cultivars regulated by genetic basis for heavy metal transport and accumulation in plants. In addition, the interactions of soil-plant root-microbes play important roles in regulating heavy metal movement from soil to the edible parts of crops. Agronomic practices such as fertilizer and water managements as well as crop rotation system can affect bioavailability and crop accumulation of heavy metals, thus influencing the thresholds for assessing dietary toxicity of heavy metals in the food chain. 3Pyogenic liver abscess: Changing patterns in approach显示文摘AIM: To define optimum management of the pyogenic liver abscess and assess new trends in treatment. METHODS: One hundred and sixty nine patients with pyogenic liver abscess managed at Sher-i-Kashmir In- stitute of Medical Sciences, Srinagar, Kashmir (India) from July 2001 to August 2006 were studied to evaluate and define the optimum treatment. RESULTS: Mortality in the surgically treated group of patients was 9.4% (12/119), while those treated non-surgically had a fatality rate of 16.66% (7/42). Multiple liver abscesses treated surgically had a surprisingly low mortality of 30%. The biliary tract (64.97%) was the most common cause of liver abscess. Multiple abscesses, mixed organisms and abscess complications are all associated with a significantly increased mortality. However, the lethality of the primary disease process was the most important factor in determining survival.CONCLUSION: Transperitoneal surgical drainage and antibiotics are the mainstay of treatment. 4在良性的胆汁的阻塞的 choledochoduodenostomy 的长期的结果显示文摘 AIM:To determine the long-term results of choledochodudenostomy in patients with benign billiary obstruction.METHODS:This prospective study was conducted at Sheri Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences Srinagar Kashmir,India over a period of 10 years from January 1997 to December 2007.The total number of patients who underwent choledochoduodenostomy during this period was 270.On the basis of etiology of biliary tract obstruction,patients were divided into a calculus group,an oriental cholangiohepatitis group,a benign biliary stricture group and others.Patients were followed for a variable period of 13 mo to 15 years.RESULTS:Choledochoduodenostomy(CDD) with duodenotomy was performend in four patients.CDD with removal of T-tube,CDD with left hepatic lobectomy and CDD with removal of intra biliary ruptured hydatid was performed in three patients each.In the remaining patients only CDD was performed.Immediate post operative complications were seen in 63(23%) patients,while long-term complications were seen in 28(11%) patients,which were statistically significant.Three patients died during hospitalization while four patients died in the late post-operative period.CONCLUSION:Our conclusion is that CDD is safe and produces good long term results when a permanent biliary drainage procedure is required.Ajaz A Malik Shiraz A Rather Shams UL Bari Khursheed Alam Wani 2012World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery2012,4,2:7

6Achieving strength-ductility synergy in cold spray additively manufactured Al/B4C composites through a hybrid post-deposition treatment显示文摘Cold spray additive manufacturing(CSAM) provides a potential solid state manufacturing route to fabricate variety of aluminum matrix composites(AMCs) with reduced possibility of undesired chemical reactions and residual thermal stresses. This study presents a hybrid(i.e. hot compression + hot rolling)post-deposition treatment to reinvigorate the mechanical properties of cold spray additively manufactured Al/B4 C composites. The as-deposited samples were initially subjected to 30% thickness reduction via hot compression treatment at 500°C followed by a hot rolling treatment with 40% thickness reduction in 2 passes. Electron backscatter diffraction(EBSD) and high resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM) results revealed that after hybrid post-deposition treatment(involving 70%accumulative thickness reduction), the aluminum grains in the matrix were extensively refined due to simultaneous operation of continuous dynamic recrystallization(CDRX) and geometric dynamic recrystallization(GDRX). Furthermore, interfacial defects were remarkably reduced while the nature of Al/Al and Al/B4C interfacial bonding was changed from sheer mechanical interlocking to metallurgical bonding which facilitated efficient transference of applied load to uniformly dispersed bimodal B4C particles. 7Stretchable and colorless freestanding microwire arrays for transparent solar cells with flexibility显示文摘Transparent solar cells(TSCs)are emerging devices that combine the advantages of visible transparency and light-toelectricity conversion.Currently,existing TSCs are based predominantly on organics,dyes,and perovskites;however,the rigidity and color-tinted transparent nature of those devices strongly limit the utility of the resulting TSCs for realworld applications.Here,we demonstrate a flexible,color-neutral,and high-efficiency TSC based on a freestanding form of n-silicon microwires(SiMWs).Flat-tip SiMWs with controllable spacing are fabricated via deep-reactive ion etching and embedded in a freestanding transparent polymer matrix.The light transmittance can be tuned from ~10 to 55% by adjusting the spacing between the microwires.For TSCs,a heterojunction is formed with a p-type polymer in the top portion of the n-type flat-tip SiMWs.Ohmic contact with an indium-doped ZnO film occurs at the bottom,and the side surface has an Al2O3 passivation layer.Furthermore,slanted-tip SiMWs are developed by a novel solventassisted wet etching method to manipulate light absorption.Finite-difference time-domain simulation revealed that the reflected light from slanted-tip SiMWs helps light-matter interactions in adjacent microwires.The TSC based on the slanted-tip SiMWs demonstrates 8%efficiency at a visible transparency of 10% with flexibility.This efficiency is the highest among Si-based TSCs and comparable with that of state-of-the-art neutral-color TSCs based on organic–inorganic hybrid perovskite and organics.Moreover,unlike others,the stretchable and transparent platform in this study is promising for future TSCs.Sung Bum Kang Ji-Hwan Kim Myeong Hoon Jeong Amit Sanger Chan Ul Kim Chil-Min Kim Kyoung Jin Choi 2019Light(Science & Applications)2019,8,1:7
8A pilot study of the modulation of sirtuins on arylamine N-acetyltransferase 1 and 2 enzymatic activity显示文摘Arylamine N-acetyltransferase(NAT; E.C. 2.3.1.5) enzymes are responsible for the biotransformation of several arylamine and hydrazine drugs by acetylation. In this process, the acetyl group transferred to the acceptor substrate produces NAT deacetylation and, in consequence, it is susceptible of degradation. Sirtuins are protein deacetylases, dependent on nicotine adenine dinucleotide,which perform post-translational modifications on cytosolic proteins. To explore possible sirtuin participation in the enzymatic activity of arylamine NATs, the expression levels of NAT1, NAT2,SIRT1 and SIRT6 in peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMC) from healthy subjects were examined by flow cytometry and Western blot. The in situ activity of the sirtuins on NAT enzymatic activity was analyzed by HPLC, in the presence or absence of an agonist(resveratrol) and inhibitor(nicotinamide) of sirtuins. We detected a higher percentage of positive cells for NAT2 in comparison with NAT1, and higher numbers of SIRT1t cells compared to SIRT6 in lymphocytes. In situ NAT2 activity in the presence of NAM inhibitors was higher than in the presence of its substrate, but not in the presence ofresveratrol. In contrast, the activity of NAT1 was not affected by sirtuins. 10Steal syndrome secondary to coronary artery fistulae associated with giant aneurysm显示文摘Giant coronary artery aneurysms and coronary artery fistulae are uncommon pathologies. We present the case of an elderly woman who was referred to cardiology for investigation of possible ischaemic heart disease prior to orthopaedic surgery. The patient had developed chest pain in the setting of a septic total knee replacement associated with changes on electrocardiography. 11CT引导下经胸肺活检术的临床应用显示文摘目的观察CT引导下经胸肺活检(TNB)术的有效性及安全性,探讨提高CT引导下经胸肺活检成功率及减少并发症的策略。方法接受CT引导下TNB的患者共120例。TNB前认真分析受检患者的胸部CT影像,选择最佳穿刺点及穿刺路径,采用同轴套管针加活检针穿刺,必要时借助人工气胸及联合PET-CT引导定位,分析穿刺成功率、诊断率及并发症,总结CT引导下经胸肺活检技术的操作要点。结果 120例受检患者共接受穿刺130次,接受1次穿刺者111例、2次穿刺者8例、3次穿刺者1例;穿刺成功127次,穿刺取材成功率97. 69%(127/130);穿刺后明确诊断119例,其中肺癌82例、结核9例、非特异性炎症9例、机化性肺炎6例、真菌性肺炎4例、血管炎4例、结节病2例、淋巴瘤2例、嗜酸粒细胞性肺炎1例,诊断率99. 17%(119/120);取材成功直径<1 cm的微结节12例,最小直径0. 7 cm; 1例肺部病变分散,通过人工气胸使病变集中,然后行CT引导下TNB,取材成功; 2例肺部病变毗邻心脏大血管,通过人工气胸使病变与心脏大血管分离,然后行CT引导下TNB,取材成功,避免了伤及心脏及大血管的风险。7例初始CT引导下TNB病理报告为炎症但抗炎治疗效果不佳,后经PET-CT引导定位再次经胸肺活检,均确诊为肺癌; 120例受检患者中,发生并发症24例(20. 00%),其中气胸11例、咯血8例、胸膜腔感染2例、胸膜腔出血2例,无致命性并发症发生。结论 CT引导下TNB诊断的准确性及安全性均高。其技术要点包括活检前根据受检患者的胸部CT影像选择最佳穿刺点及穿刺路径,尽量避开血管、肺大疱;采用同轴套管针加活检针穿刺;对于较分散或临近心脏大血管病变,可借助人工气胸使病变易于穿刺;对合并炎症的肿瘤性病变可联合PET-CT引导定位。Nakib UL Alam 许芸 李春海 贾海鹏 刘波 孟红 薛玉文 2019山东医药2019,59,6:5
12Influence of particulate morphology on microstructure and tribological properties of cold sprayed A380/Al2O3 composite coatings显示文摘In this study,three kinds of A380/Al2O3 composite coatings were prepared by cold spray(CS)using spherical,irregular and spherical+irregular shaped Al2O3 particulates separately mixed in the original A380 alloy powders.The influence of Al2O3 particulates’morphology on the microstructural characteristics(i.e.retention of Al2O3 content in coatings,coating/matrix interfacial bonding,pore size distribution and morphology etc.)and wear performance of the coatings was investigated by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray computed tomography(XCT)and 3-D optical profilometry.Results indicated that the spherical Al2O3 showsobvious tamping effect during deposition process.As a result,the interfaceshowedawavy shape while the matrix and particulates were mechanical interlocked with much improved adhesion.In addition,the porosity of the coating was minimized and the pores exhibited curved spherical structure with reduced dimensions.The irregular Al2O3 particles predominantly displayed the embedding effect together with fragmentation of Al2O3 particulates.Consequently,poor coating/matrix interfacial bonding,high porosity and the formation of angular-shaped pores were resulted in the coating.Dry sliding wear tests results revealed that the wear resistance of the coating is directly related with the retained content of Al2O3 in the coating.The coating containing irregular Al2O3 particulates displayed superior wear performance with its wear rate one seventh of that of the pure A380 alloy coating.The coating containing both kinds of Al2O3 particulates showed mixed characteristics of above two kinds of Al2O3 composite coatings.Xiang Qiu Naeem ul Haq Tariq Lu Qi Jun-Rong Tang Xin-Yu Cui Hao Du Ji-Qiang Wang Tian-Ying Xiong 2020Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,44,9:5
13Optimal trajectory and heat load analysis of different shape lifting reentry vehicles for medium range application显示文摘The objective of the paper is to compute the optimal burn-out conditions and control requirements that would result in maximum down-range/cross-range performance of a waverider type hypersonic boost-glide(HBG) vehicle within the medium and intermediate ranges,and compare its performance with the performances of wing-body and lifting-body vehicles vis-a-vis the g-load and the integrated heat load experienced by vehicles for the medium-sized launch vehicle under study.Trajectory optimization studies were carried out by considering the heat rate and dynamic pressure constraints.The trajectory optimization problem is modeled as a nonlinear,multiphase,constraint optimal control problem and is solved using a hp-adaptive pseudospectral method.Detail modeling aspects of mass,aerodynamics and aerothermodynamics for the launch and glide vehicles have been discussed.It was found that the optimal burn-out angles for waverider and wing-body configurations are approximately 5° and 14.8°,respectively,for maximum down-range performance under the constraint heat rate environment.The down-range and cross-range performance of HBG waverider configuration is nearly 1.3 and 2 times that of wing-body configuration respectively.The integrated heat load experienced by the HBG waverider was found to be approximately an order of magnitude higher than that of a lifting-body configuration and 5 times that of a wing-body configuration.The footprints and corresponding heat loads and control requirements for the three types of glide vehicles are discussed for the medium range launch vehicle under consideration.S.Tauqeer ul Islam RIZVI Lin-shu HE Da-jun XU 2015Defence Technology(防务技术)2015,11,4:5
14Randomized study comparing incidence of radial artery occlusion post-percutaneous coronary intervention between two conventional compression devices using a novel airinflation technique显示文摘AIM To compare post-percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI) radial artery occlusion(RAO) incidence between two conventional radial artery compression devices using a novel air-inflation technique.METHODS One hundred consecutive patients post-PCI were randomized 1:1 to Safeguard or TR band compression devices. Post-radial sheath removal, each compression device was inflated with additional 2 m L of air above index bleeding point during air-filled device application and gradually down-titrated accordingly. RAO was defined as absence of Doppler flow signal performed at 24 h and at 6 wk post-PCI. Patients with missing data were excluded. Statistical significance was defined as P < 0.05.RESULTS All patients had 6 F radial sheath inserted. No significant differences were observed between Safeguard Radial(n = 42) vs TR band(n = 42) in terms of age(63 ± 11 years vs 67 ± 11 years), clinical presentation(electives, n = 18 vs n = 16; acute coronary syndrome, n = 24 vs n = 26) and total procedural heparin(7778 ± 2704 IU vs 7825 ± 2450 IU). RAO incidence was not significantly different between groups at 24 h(2% vs 0%, P = 0.32) and 6 wk(0%, both).CONCLUSION Safeguard Radial and TR band did not demonstrate significant between-group differences in short-term RAO incidence. Lack of evidence of RAO in all postPCI patients at 6 wk follow-up, regardless of radial compression device indicate advantage of using the novel and pragmatic air-inflation technique. 16Magnetically treated water irrigation effect on turnip seed germination,seedling growth and enzymatic activities显示文摘Pre-sowing magnetic field seed treatment effects on biological characteristics of vegetables and crops have been studied well.However,studies reporting irrigation with magnetically treated water are scanty.Therefore,the effect of irrigation with magnetically treated water on turnip seed germination,seedling growth and enzymatic activities was evaluated.The tap water was treated at 211 mT for 30,45 and 60 min and used for irrigation of turnip seed and seedlings.Uniform and healthy turnip seed was sown under randomized complete block design(RCBD).The germination,emergence rate index,vigor index I and vigor index II increased up to 28.33%,11.54%,57.59%and 32.26%,respectively.The growth parameters such as seedling lengths,fresh&dry weights,chlorophyll content were also enhanced in response of irrigation with magnetically treated water.The seedlings irrigated with magnetically treated water showed 28.92%,11.36%and 14.76%higher protein content,alpha amylase and protease activities,respectively vs control.Results revealed that irrigation with magnetically treated water has potential to improve turnip germination,seedling growth and enzymatic activities and this study is also extendable to other vegetables and crops for the improvement of germination and growth.Zia ul Haq Munawar Iqbal Yasir Jamil Hafeez Anwar Ayesha Younis Muhammad Arif M.Zeshan Fareed Fida Hussain 2016Information Processing in Agriculture2016,3,2:5

18Effects of chronic heat stress on granulosa cell apoptosis and follicular atresia in mouse ovary显示文摘Background: Heat stress is known to alter follicular dynamics and granulosa cell function and may contribute to the diminished reproductive efficiency commonly observed in mammals during the summer. Although several investigators have studied heat-induced ovarian injury, few reports have focused on the effects of chronic heat stress on ovarian function and the molecular mechanisms through which it induces ovarian injury.Methods: In Exp. 1, 48 female mice were assigned to a control or heat-stressed treatment. After exposure to a constant temperature of 25 °C for 7, 14, 21 or 28 d(n = 6) or to 42 °C for 3 h per d for 7, 14, 21 or 28 d(n = 6), the mice were euthanized and their ovaries were analyzed for follicular atresia, granulosa cell apoptosis, changes in the abundance of HSP70 protein and serum concentrations of estradiol. In Exp. 2, the expression of HSP70 and aromatase was quantified in antral follicles cultured in vitro at 37 or 42 °C for 24 h. In Exp. 3, granulosa cells from ovaries maintained at 37 or 41 °C for 2 h were analyzed for their expression of HSP70, Bim, caspase-3 and cleaved caspase-3.Results: In Exp. 1, body weight and food intake of heat-stressed mice decreased(P < 0.05) compared with control mice while the concentration of estradiol in serum was lower(P < 0.05) in heat-stressed mice than in control mice. Compared with control mice, the percentage of atretic follicles and the number of antral follicles with severe apoptotic signals were increased(P < 0.05) after 21 d of heat-stressed treatment. HSP70 protein was more abundant(P < 0.05) in heat-stressed mice than control mice. In Exp. 2, heat stress increased HSP70 and decreased aromatase proteins(P < 0.05) in antral follicles. 19Surgical management of complicated hydatid cysts of the liver显示文摘AIM: To review the clinical presentation and surgical management of complicated hydatid cysts of the liver and to assess whether conservative surgery is adequate in the management of complicated hydatid cysts of liver.METHODS:The study was carried out at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Science,Srinagar,Kashmir,India.Sixty nine patients with hydatid disease of the liver were surgically managed from April 2004 to October 2005 with a follow up period of three years.It included 27 men and 42 women with a median age of 35 years.An abdominal ultrasound,computed tomography and serology established diagnosis.Patients with jaundice and high suspicion of intrabiliary rupture were subjected to preoperative endoscopic retrograde cholangiography.Cysts with infection,rupture into the biliary tract and peritoneal cavity were categorized as complicated cysts.Eighteen patients(26%)had complicated cysts and formed the basis for this study.RESULTS:Common complications were infection(14%),intrabiliary rupture(9%)and intraperitoneal rupture(3%).All the patients with infected cysts presented with pain and fever.All the patients with intrabiliary rupture had jaundice,while only four with intrabiliary rupture had pain and only two had fever.Surgical procedures performed in complicated cysts were:infection-omentoplasty in three and external drainage in seven;intrabiliary rupture-omentoplasty in two and internal drainage in four patients.Two patients with intraperitoneal rupture underwent external drainage.There was no mortality.The postoperative morbidity was 50%in complicated cysts and 16%in uncomplicated cysts.CONCLUSION:Complicated hydatid cyst of the liver can be successfully managed surgically with good long term results.Ajaz A Malik Shams UL Bari Ruquia Amin Masooda Jan 2010World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery2010,2,3:4
20Structural stability improvement, Williamson Hall analysis and band-gap tailoring through A-site Sr doping in rare earth based double perovskite La2NiMnO6显示文摘The structural,morphological and optical properties of single-phase polycrystalline La2-xSrxNiMnO6(x=0,0.3 and 0.5),synthesized by solid state reaction were investigated.The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM)/energy dispersive analysis of X-rays(EDAX),Raman spectroscopy and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy(DRS)to elucidate the role of A-site Sr-doping in double perovskite La2 NiMnO6.Rietveld analysis of XRD patterns revealed that all the samples have monoclinic structure with space group P21/n.Positive gradient in the Williamson Hall plots revealed the presence of tensile strain in all the samples.The morphological studies revealed that average grain size increases along with appreciable decrease in porosity with Sr doping.The Ni/Mn antisite disorder was introduced in the La2 NiMnO6 by Sr-doping confirmed by an increase in the full width at half maximum(FWHM)and decrease in intensity of the Raman modes at around 540 and 665 cm-1 which correspond to the antisymmetric stretching and symmetric stretching modes,respectively.DRS results reveal that the band gap in La2 NiMnO6 can be tuned down by Sr-doping to a value of1.37 eV(very close to 1.40 eV,considered as optimum value for better efficiency of a solar cell).Thus,Sr-doped La2 NiMnO6 may be of prime importance for applications in solar cells.Shah Aarif Ul Islam Mohd Ikram 2019Rare Metals2019,38,9:4
