1Toxic tau: structural origins of tau aggregation in Alzheimer’s disease显示文摘Alzheimer’s disease is characterized by the extracellular accumulation of the amyloidβin the form of amyloid plaques and the intracellular deposition of the microtubule-associated protein tau in the form of neurofibrillary tangles.Most of the Alzheimer’s drugs targeting amyloidβhave been failed in clinical trials.Particularly,tau pathology connects greatly in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease.Tau protein enhances the stabilization of microtubules that leads to the appropriate function of the neuron.Changes in the quantity or the conformation of tau protein could affect its function as a microtubules stabilizer and some of the processes wherein it is involved.The molecular mechanisms leading to the accumulation of tau are principally signified by numerous posttranslational modifications that change its conformation and structural state.Therefore,aberrant phosphorylation,as well as truncation of tau protein,has come into focus as significant mechanisms that make tau protein in a pathological entity.Furthermore,the shape-shifting nature of tau advocates to comprehend the progression of Alzheimer’s disease precisely.In this review,we emphasize the recent studies about the toxic and shape-shifting nature of tau in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease.Abdullah Al Mamun Md.Sahab Uddin Bijo Mathew Ghulam Md Ashraf 2020Neural Regeneration Research2020,15,8:21

3Meta‐analysis and candidate gene mining of low‐phosphorus tolerance in maize显示文摘Plants with tolerance to low‐phosphorus(P) can grow better under low‐P conditions, and understanding of genetic mechanisms of low‐P tolerance can not only facilitate identifying relevant genes but also help to develop low‐P tolerant cultivars. QTL meta‐analysis was conducted after a comprehensive review of the reports on QTL mapping for low‐P tolerance‐related traits in maize. Meta‐analysis produced 23 consensus QTL(cQTL), 17 of which located in similar chromosome regions to those previously reported to influence root traits. Meanwhile, candidate gene mining yielded 215 genes, 22 of which located in the cQTL regions.These 22 genes are homologous to 14 functionally characterized genes that were found to participate in plant low‐P tolerance, including genes encoding miR399s, Pi transporters and purple acid phosphatases. 4Antibacterial efficacy of the seed extracts of Melia azedarach against some hospital isolated human pathogenic bacterial strains显示文摘Objective:To investigate the antibacterial potential of the polar and non-polar extracts of the seeds of Melia azedarach(M.azedarach) L.(Meliaceae) against eighteen hospital isolated human pathogenic bacterial strains.Methods:Petrol,benzene,ethyl acetate,methanol,and aqueous extracts at five different concentrations(1,2,5,10 and 15 mg/mL) were evaluated.Disk diffusion method was followed to evaluate the antibacterial efficacy.Results:All extracts of the seeds demonstrated significant antibacterial activity against tested pathogens.Among all extracts,ethyl acetate extract revealed the highest inhibition comparatively.The present study also favored the traditional uses reported earlier.Conclusions:Results of this study strongly confirm that the seed extracts of M.azedarach could be effective antibiotics,both in controlling gram-positive and gram-negative human pathogenic infections.Abdul Viqar Khan Qamar Uddin Ahmed M Ramzan Mir Indu Shukla Athar Ali Khan 2011Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2011,1,6:11
5More anxious than depressed:prevalence and correlates in a 15-nation study of anxiety disorders in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus显示文摘Background Anxiety disorder, one of the highly disabling, prevalent and common mental disorders, is known to be more prevalent in persons with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) than the general population, and the comorbid presence of anxiety disorders is known to have an impact on the diabetes outcome and the quality of life. However, the information on the type of anxiety disorder and its prevalence in persons with T2DM is limited. Aims To assess the prevalence and correlates of anxiety disorder in people with type 2 diabetes in different countries. Methods People aged 18-65 years with diabetes and treated in outpatient settings were recruited in 15 countries and underwent a psychiatric interview with the Mini-International Neuropsychiatric Interview. Demographic and medical record data were collected. Results A total of 3170 people with type 2 diabetes (56.2% women;with mean (SD) duration of diabetes 10.01 (7.0) years) participated. The overall prevalence of anxiety disorders in type 2 diabetic persons was 18%;however, 2.8% of the study population had more than one type of anxiety disorder. The most prevalent anxiety disorders were generalised anxiety disorder (8.1%) and panic disorder (5.1%). Female gender, presence of diabetic complications, longer duration of diabetes and poorer glycaemic control (HbA1c levels) were significantly associated with comorbid anxiety disorder. A higher prevalence of anxiety disorders was observed in Ukraine, Saudi Arabia and Argentina with a lower prevalence in Bangladesh and India. Conclusions Our international study shows that people with type 2 diabetes have a high prevalence of anxiety disorders, especially women, those with diabetic complications, those with a longer duration of diabetes and poorer glycaemic control. 9Deciphering codon usage patterns and evolutionary forces in chloroplast genes of Camellia sinensis var. assamica and Camellia sinensis var. sinensis in comparison to Camellia pubicosta显示文摘Codon usage bias(CUB) is a unique property of genome which refers to non-random usage of synonymous codons in coding sequences. The present study makes an attempt to find out the pattern of CUB in chloroplast(cp) genes among three tea species, i.e., Camellia sinensis var. assamica(Assam tea), Camellia sinensis var. sinensis(Chinese tea) and Camellia pubicosta(wild tea species) as no work on CUB was reported earlier. To understand the patterns of codon usage among the cp genes of three tea groups, we used bioinformatic tools to investigate the protein coding sequences of cp genes. In our present study, the mean nucleobase T was the highest whereas C was the lowest in all the three tea groups. The overall AT content was more than GC content, i.e., genes were AT rich. The scaled chi-square(SCS) value indicated that the CUB of cp genes was low. The codon CGT(Arg) was over-represented in C. sinensis var. sinensis whereas GGA(Pro) was over-represented in C. pubicosta species. Heatmap study revealed that most of the GC ending codons showed positive correlations between codon usage and GC3 while AT ending codons exhibited negative correlations. From neutrality plot analysis, it was evident that natural selection had played a major role, while mutation pressure exerted a minor effect in the CUB of cp genes in three tea groups. 10香蕉组织培养过程中内生菌污染的控制(英文)显示文摘研究了体外培养一种孟加拉传统香蕉(Musa spp.Cv.Kanthali)的茎尖组织。茎尖的原始细胞表面经无菌处理(0.1%HgCl2处理12min),接种6~15d后外植体地下茎部分仍有微生物污染(大部分是细菌),杀死了85%的外植体。为确定无污染培养基,将等量外植体分别浸泡在舍400mg/L氨苄青霉素和200mg/L庆大霉素(两种光谱抗生素)的培养基中1h。结果表明,经抗生素处理的外植体完全没有污染,但培养3周后不能再生。进行二次继代培养后,其中一部分外植体吸收了培养基并胀大,颜色由苍白转变成浅绿或深绿。三次继代培养后数天,不再观察到外植体的生长,所有经抗生素处理过的外植体都开始死亡。在未经抗生素处理的活外植体中,单个茎发育的最佳培养基是:Ms+4.0mg/LBA+0.5mg/L KT+15%CW,平均生长时间为18~21d,但再生率很低,只有30%。茎细胞增殖的最佳培养基是:MS+4.0mg/L BA+2.0mg/L IAA+15%CW,每个茎平均只萌发3~4个芽。最后,在添加0.5mg/L IBA的一半浓度的MS培养基中,体外培养茎最大生根率达到90%。Soubir Titov Salil Kumar Bhowmik Md.Sadrul Alam Sarder Nasir Uddin 2007生物工程学报2007,23,6:6
11Investigation on the process parameters of TIG-welded aluminum alloy through mechanical and microstructural characterization显示文摘Multi-pass TIG welding was conducted on plates(15×300×180 mm^(3))of aluminum alloy Al-5083 that usually serves as the component material in structural applications such as cryogenics and chemical processing industries.Porosity formation and solidification cracking are the most common defects when TIG welding Al-5083 alloy,which is sensitive to the welding heat input.In the experiment,the heat input was varied from 0.89 kJ/mm to 5 kJ/mm designed by the combination of welding torch travel speed and welding current.Tensile,micro-Vicker hardness and Charpy impact tests were executed to witness the impetus response of heat input on the mechanical properties of the joints.Radiographic inspection was performed to assess the joint’s quality and welding defects.The results show that all the specimens displayed inferior mechanical properties as compared to the base alloy.It was established that porosity was progressively abridged by the increase of heat input.The results also clinched that the use of medium heat input(1-2 kJ/mm)offered the best mechanical properties by eradicating welding defects,in which only about 18.26% of strength was lost.The yield strength of all the welded specimens remained unaffected indica ted no influence of heat input.Partially melted zone(PMZ)width also affected by heat input,which became widened with the increase of heat input.The grain size of PMZ was found to be coarser than the respective grain size in the fusion zone.Charpy impact testing revealed that the absorbed energy by low heat input specimen(welded at high speed)was greater than that of high heat input(welded at low speed)because of low porosity and the formation of equiaxed grains which induce better impact toughness.Cryogenic(-196℃)impact testing was also performed and the results corroborate that impact properties under the cryogenic environment revealed no appreciable change after welding at designated heat input.Finally,Macro and micro fractured surfaces of tensile and impact specimens were analyzed using Stereo and Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM),which have supported the experimental findings.Muhammad Samiuddin Jing-long Li Muhammad Taimoor Mohammad Nouman Siddiqui Sumair Uddin Siddiqui Jiang-tao Xiong 2021Defence Technology(防务技术)2021,17,4:5
12HBsAg, HBcAg, and combined HBsAg/HBcAg-based therapeutic vaccines in treating chronic hepatitis B virus infection显示文摘BACKGROUND: As the host immunity is diminished in patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB), different approaches have been used to up-regulate their immune responses to produce therapeutic effects. But, cytokines, growth factors and polyclonal immune modulators could not exhibit sufficient therapeutic effects in these patients. Immune therapy with HBV-related antigens (vaccine therapy) has been used in CHB patients. But there is a paucity of information about the design of HBV antigen-based immune therapy in these patients. DATA SOURCE: Preclinical and clinical studies on immune therapy with HBsAg-based vaccine, HBcAg and combination of HBsAg/HBcAg-based vaccines have been discussed. RESULTS: HBsAg-based prophylactic vaccine was used as an immune therapeutic agent in CHB patients; however, monotherapy with HBsAg-based immune therapy could not lead to sustained control of HBV replication and/or liver damages. HBsAg-based vaccine was used as a combination therapy with cytokines, growth factors, and antiviral drugs. HBsAg-based vaccine was also used for cell-based therapy. However, satisfactory therapeutic effects of HBsAg-based vaccine could not be documented in CHB patients. In the mean time, evidences have supported that HBcAg-specific immunity is endowed with antiviral and liver protecting capacities in CHB patients. Recent data concentrate on the clinical use of combined HBsAg- and HBcAg-based vaccines in CHB patients.CONCLUSION: Antigen-based immune therapy with HBV- related antigens may be an alternative method for the treatment of CHB patients but proper designs of antigens, types of adjuvants, dose of vaccinations, and routes of administration need further analyses for the development of an effective regimen of immune therapy against HBV.Sheikh Mohammad Fazle Akbar Mamun Al-Mahtab Mohammad Helal Uddin Md. 14In vitro α-amylase inhibitory activity and in vivo hypoglycemic effect of methanol extract of Citrus macroptera Montr.fruit显示文摘Objective:To investigate the therapeutic effects of methanol extract of Citrus macroptera Montr,fruit inα-amylase inhibitory activity(in vitro)and hypoglycemic activity in normal and glucose induced hyperglycemic rats(in vivo).Methods:Fruits of Citrus macroptera without rind was extracted with pure methanol following cold extraction and tested for presence of phytochemical constituents,α-amylase inhibitory activity,and hypoglycemic effect in normal rats and glucose induced hyperglycemic rats.Results:Presence of saponin,steroid and terpenoid were identified in the extract.The results showed that fruit extract had moderateα-amylase inhibitory activity[IC_(50)value=(3.638±0.190)mg/mL]as compared to acarbose.Moreover at 500 mg/kg and 1000 mg/kg doses fruit extract significantly(P<0.05 and P<0.01 respectively)reduced fasting blood glucose level in normal rats as compared to glibenclamide(5 mg/kg).In oral glucose tolerance test,500 mg/kg dose significantly reduced blood glucose level(P<0.05)at 2 h but 1000 mg/kg dose significantly reduced blood glucose level at 2 h and 3 h(P<0.05 and P<0.01 respectively)whereas glibenclamide(5 mg/kg)significantly reduced glucose level at every hour after administration.Overall time effect is also considered extremely significant with F value=23.83 and P value=0.0001 in oral glucose tolerance test.Conclusion:These findings suggest that the plant may be a potential source for the development of new oral hypoglycemic agent.Nizam Uddin Rakib Hasan Monir Hossain Arjyabrata Sarker A.H.M.Nazmul Hasan A.F.M.Mahmudul Islam Mohd.Motaher H.Chowdhury Sohel Rana 2014Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2014,4,6:4
15Rapid Detection of Wheat Blast Pathogen Magnaporthe oryzae Triticum Pathotype Using Genome-Specific Primers and Cas12a-mediated Technology显示文摘Wheat blast,caused by the fungus Magnaporthe oryzae Triticum(MoT)pathotype,is a devastating disease persistent in South America and Bangladesh.Since MoT generally fails to cause visual symptoms in wheat until the heading stage when the infection would have advanced,disease control by fungicide application solely based on the detection of visual symptoms is ineffective.To develop an accurate and sensitive method to detect MoT at the seedling and vegetative stages for disease control,we sequenced the genomes of two MoT isolates from Brazil and identified two DNA fragments,MoT-6098 and MoT-6099,that are present in the MoT genome but not in the genome of the rice-infecting Magnaporthe oryzae Oryzae(MoO)pathotype.Using polymerase chain reaction(PCR),we confirmed the specificity of the two markers in 53 MoT and MoO isolates from South America and Bangladesh.To test the efficiency of the two markers,we first established a loop-mediated isothermal amplification(LAMP)method to detect MoT at isothermal conditions,without the use of a PCR machine.Following this,we used the Cas12a protein and guide RNAs(gRNAs)to target the MoT-6098 and MoT-6099 sequences.The activated Cas12a showed indiscriminate single-stranded deoxyribonuclease(ssDNase)activity.We then combined targetdependent Cas12a ssDNase activation with recombinase polymerase amplification(RPA)and nucleic acid lateral flow immunoassay(NALFIA)to develop a method that accurately,sensitively,and cost-effectively detects MoT-specific DNA sequences in infected wheat plants.This novel technique can be easily adapted for the rapid detection of wheat blast and other important plant diseases in the field.Houxiang Kang Ye Peng Kangyu Hua Yufei Deng Maria Bellizzi Dipali Rani Gupta Nur Uddin Mahmud Alfredo S.Urashima Sanjoy Kumar Paul Gary Peterson Yilin Zhou Xueping Zhou Md Tofazzal Islam Guo-Liang Wang 2021Engineering2021,7,9:4

17二倍体与四倍体刺槐组培苗形态和生理性状比较显示文摘为了比较二倍体与四倍体刺槐组培苗不同无性系之间的差异,本研究分别测定二倍体刺槐组培苗和人工诱导四倍体刺槐组培苗的形态及生理指标,并进行相关分析。结果表明,多数四倍体刺槐无性系的长势、抗逆性优于二倍体;二倍体与四倍体刺槐不同无性系以及不同形态、生理指标之间存在丰富的变异,其中四倍体刺槐的变异更为丰富;各测定指标之间存在较为复杂的相关关系,在选择育种时,需综合考虑。根据试验结果,结合育种目标,可选育出优良四倍体刺槐无性系,丰富刺槐种质资源,增加遗传多样性。本研究为刺槐倍性育种工作提供了理论依据和科学参考。李秀宇 董黎 孙宇涵 李健康 刘晓迪 谭红岩 Saleem Uddin 李云 2021核农学报2021,35,3:4
18固定化Brucella sp. GXY-1降解苯酚的特性及其动力学研究显示文摘利用大孔网状载体固定苯酚降解菌——布鲁氏杆菌(Brucella sp.)GXY-1菌株,并对固定化菌的制备条件及固定化菌降解苯酚的特性进行考察.结果表明,固定化菌株的最适温度为25~35℃,最适pH为7.0左右,摇床转速为150r/min,最大耐盐度为2%,比游离态菌株更能适应环境变化.固定化菌降解苯酚的速率明显高于游离菌,降解过程符合Andrews抑制模型,确定了模型参数:qmax=2.932h-1,Ks=286.227mg/L,Ki=97.720mg/L.周集体 M. 20超细PtCu纳米线的表面结构调控及其增强的醇类电催化氧化作用显示文摘铂基纳米催化剂的表面结构调控是提升其电催化性能和实现多功能性的有效途径.本工作报道了两种超细PtCu纳米线(光滑型和粗糙型)的湿化学合成方法及其电催化醇氧化的性能.研究结果表明,粗糙型PtCu合金表面具有丰富的原子台阶,对多种电化学反应具有较好的催化活性.密度泛函理论模拟表明,粗糙型PtCu纳米线具有较好的反应活性,这是由于Pt-Cu位点之间的协同作用促进了反应过程中水的解离和羧基中间体的脱氢.本工作为能源相关电催化体系中合金纳米催化剂的合理设计提供了思路.黄莉萍 张伟 钟艳飞 李鹏 项东 Waqar Uddin 李小武 王阳刚 袁孝友 王定胜 朱满洲 2021Science China Materials2021,64,3:3
