1Multimodality treatment in hepatocellular carcinoma patients with tumor thrombi in portal vein显示文摘AIM To compare the therapeutic effect andsignificances of multimodality treatment forhepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with tumorthrombi in portal vein (PVTT).METHODS HCC patients (n = 147) with tumortrombi in the main portal vein or the first branchof portal vein were divided into four groups bythe several therapeutic methods. There wereconservative treatment group in 18 out ofpatients (group A); and hepatic artery ligation(HAL) and/or hepatic artery infusion (HAl)group in 18 patients (group B), in whompostoberative chemoembolization was doneperiodically; group of removal of HCC with PVTTin 79 (group C) and group of transcatheterhepatic arterial chemoembolization (TACE) orHAl and/or portal vein infusion (PVI) afteroperation in 32 (group D).RESULTS The median survival period was 12months in our series and the 1-, 3-, and 5-yearsurvival rates were 44.3%, 24.5% and 15.2%,respectively. The median survival times were 2,5, 12 and 16 months in group A, B, C and D,respectively. The 1-, 3- and 5-year survival rateswere 5.6%, 0% and 0% in group A; 22.2%,5.6% and 0% in group B; 53.9%, 26.9% and16.6% in group C; 79.3%, 38.9% and 26.8% ingroup D, respectively. 2Optimization design and analysis of Si-^(63)Ni betavoltaic battery显示文摘Among the various micro-powers being investigated, betavoltaic batteries are very attractive for numerous applications because of their advantages of high energy density, long life, strong anti-interference, and so on. Based on the basic principle of the betavoltaic effect, the current paper adopted the Monte Carlo N-Particle code to simulate the transport processes of β particles in semiconductor materials and to establish the calculation formulas for nuclear radiation-generated current, open circuit voltage, and so on. By discussing the effect of minority carrier diffusion length, doping concentration, and junction depth on the property of batteries, the present work concluded that the best parameters for batteries are the use of silicon and the radioisotope Ni-63, i.e., Ni-63 with a mass thickness of 1 mg/cm2, Na=1×1019 cm-3, Nd=3.16×1016 cm-3, junction area of 1 cm2, junction depth of 0.3 μm, and so on. Under these parameters the short-circuit current, open circuit voltage, output power, and conversion efficiency are 573.3 nA, 0.253 V, 99.85 nW, and 4.94%, respectively. 4Optimization design of GaN betavoltaic microbattery显示文摘Betavoltaic radioisotope microbatteries have gradually become the research direction of micro-power sources because of their several advantages,including small scale,stable output performance,long service life,high energy density,strong anti-jamming capability,and so on.Based on the theory of semiconductor physics,the current paper presented a design scheme of isotope microbattery with wide-gap semiconductor material GaN and isotope 147Pm.In consideration of the isotope's self-absorption effect,the current paper studied and analyzed the optimization thickness of semiconductor and isotope source,junction depth,depletion region thickness,doping concentration,and the generation and collection of electron hole pairs with simulation of transport process of beta particles in semiconductor material using Monte Carlo simulation program MCNP.In the proposed design scheme,for a single decay,an average energy of 28.2 keV was deposited in the GaN,and the short circuit current density,open circuit voltage,and efficiency of a single device were 1.636 μA/cm2,3.16 V,and 13.4%,respectively.TANG XiaoBin LIU YunPeng DING Ding CHEN Da 2012Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,3:5

6An AGAMOUS-like factor is associated with the origin of two domesticated varieties in Cymbidium sinense (Orchidaceae)显示文摘Cymbidium has been artificially domesticated for centuries in Asia,which produced numerous cultivated varieties.Flowers with stamenoid tepals or those with multiple tepals have been found in different species of Cymbidium;however,the molecular basis controlling the formation of these phenotypes is still largely unknown.Previous work demonstrated that AGAMOUS/AG lineage MADS genes function in floral meristem determinacy as well as in reproductive organs development in both dicots and monocots,indicating a possible relationship with the origin of two flower varieties in Cymbidium.Here,we characterized and analyzed two AG lineage paralogues,CsAG1 and CsAG2,from Cymbidium sinense,both of which were highly expressed in the gynostemium column of a standard C.sinense.Interestingly,we detected ectopic expression of CsAG1 rather than CsAG2 in all floral organs of a stamenoid-tepal variety and significant down-regulation of CsAG1 in a variety with multiple tepals.Over-expression of CsAG1 in wild type Arabidopsis resulted in petal-to-stamen homeotic conversion,suggesting a conserved C-function of CsAG1 in the development of Cymbidium flower.Altogether,our results supported a hypothesis that disruption of a single AG-like factor would be associated with the formation of two domesticated varieties in C.sinense.Shihao Su Xiaoyu Shao Changfa Zhu Jiayin Xu Yuhuan Tang Da Luo Xia Huang 2018Horticulture Research2018,5,1:4
7Development of Chinese hybrid radiation adult phantoms and their application to external dosimetry显示文摘This paper presents the construction of Chinese hybrid radiation adult phantoms,which are compatible with anatomical parameters for the Chinese reference population.The phantoms were designed using polygonal mesh surface,which makes the phantom more flexible and realistic than previous generations.Voxelization of hybrid phantoms was performed to adopt Monte Carlo methods.External dose coefficients were calculated by Geant4 and compared to the ICRP reference phantom.The results show that the organ dose is different from ICRP116 with the low energy photons,which can be ascribed to the anatomy and topology difference of each organ.The effective dose of CHRAP is 19%higher than ICRP 116 in the energy range from10 to 100 keV and is almost the same in the energy range from 100 keV to 10 MeV.These phantoms can be used as the basic phantom to adjust the posture or organ volume to estimate dosimetry in medical and space explorations.GENG ChangRan TANG XiaoBin HOU XiaoXiao SHU DiYun CHEN Da 2014Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,4:4
8CDH13 Genetic Polymorphisms, Adiponectin and Ischemic Stroke: a Chinese Family-based Sib-pair Study显示文摘Objective To understand the relationships between CDH13(T-cadherin) genetic polymorphisms, adiponectin levels and ischemic stroke, and possible interactions between CDH13 polymorphisms and other risk factors. Methods We recruited 342 Chinese ischemic stroke sib pairs. We genotyped rs4783244 and rs7193788 on CDH13 using time-of-flight mass spectrometry genotyping technology and measured total and high-molecular weight(HMW) adiponectin levels. We investigated associations between SNPs and ischemic stroke, and interactions between SNPs and other risk factors using multi-level mixed-effects regression model. Results In individuals without ischemic stroke, CDH13 rs4783244 was associated with total adiponectin levels(per T: Coef =-0.257, P = 0.001). CDH13 rs7193788 was associated with total adiponectin levels(per A: Coef =-0.221, P = 0.001) and HMW adiponectin levels(per A: Coef =-0.163, P = 0.003). rs7193788 was significantly associated with ischemic stroke(GA/AA vs. GG: OR = 1.55, 95% CI: 1.07 to 2.24, P = 0.020) after Bonferroni correction(α = 0.025). There was an interaction between rs7193788 and diabetes(P = 0.036). Compared to diabetes-free individuals with rs7193788 GG genotype, diabetes patients with rs7193788 GA/AA genotypes had higher risks for ischemic stroke(OR = 2.64, 95% CI: 1.58-4.40, P < 0.001). Conclusion CDH13 genetic polymorphisms are associated with adiponectin levels and ischemic stroke. 11Evaluation of hyperbaric oxygen treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders following traumatic brain injury显示文摘Background Improvement of clinical symptoms following hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders arising from traumatic brain injury was proved by our previous study. This study was aim to obtain the evidence of other changes. Methods Three hundred and ten patients with neuropsychiatric disorders arising from traumatic brain injury were treated twice with hyperbaric oxygen. Cerebral single photon emissions computed tomography (SPECT) images and computed tomography scans (CT) before and after hyperbaric oxygen treatment, were compared. Results Before treatment, the proportion of abnormal cerebral changes detected by SPECT was 81.3% but only 15.2% by CT. After HBO treatment, 70.3% of SPECT scans showed no abnormalities and these patients were clinically improved. Treatment improved regional cerebral blood flow. 14High-throughput screening and machine learning for the efficient growth of high-quality single-wall carbon nanotubes显示文摘It has been a great challenge to optimize the growth conditions toward structure-controlled growth of single-wall carbon nanotubes(SWCNTs).Here,a high-throughput method combined with machine learning is reported that efficiently screens the growth conditions for the synthesis of high-quality SWCNTs.Patterned cobalt(Co)nanoparticles were deposited on a numerically marked silicon wafer as catalysts,and parameters of temperature,reduction time and carbon precursor were optimized.The crystallinity of the SWCNTs was characterized by Raman spectroscopy where the featured G/D peak intensity(IG/ID)was extracted automatically and mapped to the growth parameters to build a database.1,280 data were collected to train machine learning models.Random forest regression(RFR)showed high precision in predicting the growth conditions for high-quality SWCNTs,as validated by further chemical vapor deposition(CVD)growth.This method shows great potential in structure-controlled growth of SWCNTs.Zhong-Hai Ji Lili Zhang Dai-Ming Tang Chien-Ming Chen Torbjörn EMNordling Zheng-De Zhang Cui-Lan Ren Bo Da Xin Li Shu-Yu Guo Chang Liu Hui-Ming Cheng 2021Nano Research2021,14,12:3

16Theoretical study on boiling heat transfer in the Xi'an pulsed reactor显示文摘Boiling heat transfer condition has significance for pool-type research reactors cooled by natural circulation.It has important effect on the fuel element safety of reactor.On the basis of heat transfer characteristics of the Xi'an pulsed reactor(XAPR),fuel conduction,single-phase convection and boiling heat transfer,and void fraction models of the core are constructed.To validate the correctness of the physical models presented in the paper,numerical calculation based on a subchannel analysis method of XAPR is carried out,and the temperature fields are measured in some reactor coolant channels.The comparison between the calculated and experimental results verifies the effectiveness of the models.These physical models are used to calculate the thermal-hydraulic parameters of XAPR at the rated power(for XAPR the rated power is 2.0 MW in steady-state operation).The results indicate that subcooled boiling occurs in the XAPR core but it exhibits a subcooling degree which is considerably higher than that of saturation boiling.Subcooled boiling improves the efficiency of heat transfer between the fuel element surface and coolant,as well as effectively protects fuel elements.This research is also a beneficial reference in thermal-hydraulic analysis for other natural circulation reactors.CHEN LiXin TANG XiaoBin JIANG XinBiao CHEN Da ZHAO ZhuMin 2013Science China(Technological Sciences)2013,56,1:2

18Theoretical investigation on Raman induced Kerr effect spectroscopy in nonlinear confocal microscopy显示文摘The imaging theory of Raman induced Kerr effect spectroscopy (RIKES) in nonlinear confocal microscopy is presented in this paper. Three-dimensional point spread function (3D-PSF) of RIKES nonlinear confocal microscopy in isotropic media is derived with Fourier imaging theory and RIKES theory. The impact of nonlinear property of RIKES on the spatial resolution and imaging properties of confocal microscopy have been analyzed in detail.
